3 comments about Sturgis (Dakotas).
- When I was Christmas shopping I decided to buy this book as a gift for myself. It may be the best gift I get this year. I've been to Sturgis almost every year since 1980, which is just about the period this book covers. I've seen all the changes Michael Lichter's photos cover. Michael Lichter is a true biker, and it shows in his photography. He loves motorcycles, he loves bikers, and he loves the Sturgis rally. That is clear in every page of this book.
- I have yet to visit South Dakota and the Sturgis rally, yet I can console myself with Michael Lichter's wild and beautiful photography. Dave Nichols, the Editor of Easyrider, writes a snappy intro that expresses how close to the edge Lichter goes to capture a powerful image and the photos reflect that wild dangerous edge as do some of the people pictured...and of course these are my favorite photos! The "just married" image which is a posterior shot of both the bike and the couple is juxtaposed with sheer perfection -- the young woman's stunning body and the gritty image of the beer cans attached to the bike. You can almost hear the rumble of the bike and the beer cans banging against pavement in celebration of their biker union and this is just one of many standouts. The bikes and the people are more unusual than what you see on the Discovery Channel. Bottom line...If you can't get to Sturgis, South Dakota, this book rocks and if you have been there, you still want this book because it documents 20 years of a very wild ride, gritty, wonderful crazy people, and beautiful American countryside.
- what a great price I got this wonderful book for. This is seriously worth putting on your coffee table. The raw realness behind these photos shows the real life of bikers, sturgis, and the lifestyle that is being a biker. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves motorcycles (and the REAL kind, not those crotch rocket p.o.s.'s)
I've GOT to order another copy for my grandfather for Christmas.

1 comments about Motorcycle Tuning - 4 Stroke, Second Edition (Motorcycle Tuning).
- While the author covers components, principles of operation and general theory, there is very little information concerning the art of tuning a four stroke engine. For someone new to engines in general it may not be a bad investment. If you're fairly knowledgeable already and are seeking to expand your own abilities, you're not likely to find much worthwhile advice here.

2 comments about American Chopper/Orange County Choppers: The Fine Art of the Custom Motorcycle.
- This is a must-buy for all OCC fans and for bikers alike. Wow, I must say this book encompasses what OCC has done and their contribution to the world of custom bikes. Not only that this book have featured their custom bikes and the story behind it, but it also has provided the readers the history of motorcycles, Sturgis, etc. It also has wonderful photos of their bikes like the Liberty Bike, Jet Bike, Caterpillar Bike, etc. Make David Mann prud and buy this book.
- This book is a must for all the OCC fans out there. I purchased this for my 14 year old nephew, who just loves all things loud, metal, motors and boy stuff !! This book showcases the artwork of the bikes created by the OCC boys, from the ideas to the finished product. As for being a technical book then I would say it will not be sufficent in that area. But to a 14 year old it does a couple of things, firstly it encourages reading and conversation, the pages are well covered with plenty of photos and enough text to be of interest. The cover is very lavish and very appealing to the boys, especially as it has an OCC medallion as the centre piece. This book even caught the attention of my nephews father, which is a good thing, although Dad will have to get his own copy !! So well done to the OCC marketing dept. you have a good product.

3 comments about Jesse James & His Beautiful Machines.
- This is a large book with page after page of stunning black & white photography. As much as I love great shots of cool bikes and thier builders, I was a bit dissapointed with this book. This is proabably my own mistake for not reading the book summary close enough. I was expecting something more like 'Jesse James, the Man and His Machines'; a book with tons of great photos but also some writing on the man, his builds, and his process. I thought a new book would have more updated writing from everything that has changed in the last few years since that other book was published. Not so... little verbage other than introduction, photo index in the back, and 4 page blurb by Steve Appleford. Those 4 pages offer some interesting insights, but dosen't quite save the book.
So if you're looking for something to 'read' abot Jesse James, try the afore-mentioned book. This photo book will end up with beer bottle rings on the cover as it sits on my coffee table.
Oh, by the way, for one last kick in the pants; "Printed and Bound in CHINA" is slapped on the back cover. Go figure.
- This book with the black & white photos and Jesse and his crew could not be better. The photos are so clear you can learn from this. I highly recommend this to anyone into motorcycles or welding/fabricating.
- Loved the bikes but I wish it was in colour!
I understand it's ART & they are worthy of a museum. But to me the black & white sucks. If I wasn't such an enthusiest, I'd have my new door stop.
