  1. Nice book overall. Has lots of pictures of assemblies to make it easier to disassemble and reassemble the parts.
Nice set of specifications for the little tiddler bikes.

  2. Got this for a 1971 Honda CT70. Clymer does a fairly decent job of covering so many different model years/models in a single book.
This broad coverage makes it sort of inconvenient to find the exact section that covers my bike, but this is probably the reason it is still in publication.

I've only used it to help fix a shifting problem and change the oil so far. The troubleshooting gave pointed to the geneneral areas to look, but it was some phone advice from an avid collector and self discovery that fixed the problem.

It seems to cover 4 or 5 different "Types" of clutch designs but does not list my bike as one of the types making it slightly confusing, but the other models were similar enough to be of help.

Great deal if you own multiple models/years of bikes covered by this book.

  3. This is one of the essential reference books if you are working on Honda 50 or 70s. It will pay for itself in a matter of minutes when working on an engine.

  1. This is a very informative book about Harley Davidson Motorcycles. The photos are beautiful and the book tells a lot of interesting things about HD motorcycles. I bought it as a birthday gift for my brother and he loved it!

  1. This book wasn't quite what I was expecting. It is very intelectualized. It would probably be great for somebody that is actually studying philosophy at a higher level.

  2. ...specifically that part about "philosophy on a higher level" I didn't find any philosophy of a higher level, and the lower level exercises of logic I did find were pretty uninspiring and painfully overly wordy (which is really bad considering how short this book actually is - from a pagecount i mean), but what kind of motorcycling insight can be expected from someone who's first bike was a Ducati Monster?

It's a great read if you want to read endless words explaining why a motorbike rider thinks that speed limit laws are not logically justified, and why motorcyclists shouldn't be forced to wear helmets, but if you seek anything fresh or insightful you won't find it in this read. It's just a whole lot of words explaining some logic behind the simple philosophical concepts.

Uninspiring, endless words, lacking the philisophical insights you'd expect from a book on philosophy, very boring.

I am also reading Peter Egan's book 'leanings' which is kind of the antithesis of this, and although it's not at all a philosophy book, I'm left with the feeling that it contains far greater philosophical depth from a man with genuine experience and insight. But the philosophy is merely suggested and it's set in an entertaining romantic/nostalgic light - like i said...it's the antithesis of this book.

  3. Craig Bourne can be very good as a lecturer in philosophy at Cambridge. I can imagine him very well composing the book because he also has a motorcycle but not because he is extremely riding it. The book is like a compilation of observations with philosophical references from Descartes to Wittgenstein and Pirsig while the motorcycle was parked at the side of the road. Among experiences like reading, observing, thinking, and watching movies, I think riding motorcycles is not a prior issue for Bourne. It could be acceptable if the book was not misleading you from the title to the photograph on the cover.

  4. Wish I had read these reviews before wasting my $ and time on this pompous academic drivel.

  5. This book has nothing to do with motorcycling or riding except the occasional mention of both. Mostly just 'Philosophical Ramblings' on a basic level. Hard to believe the author's credentials.

  1. this book does not go into any depth specifications are not listed does not do justice to subject.

  2. I wish I had seen jodie arnold's review before I bought it. Cover says "Production figures" but these a woefully lacking. I expected and wanted some manufacturing numbers but there were none.

  3. I purchased this unseen by mail and was rather disappointed. Anyone familar with motorcycles of the past 2 or 3 decades will find glaring errors of commission and omission. One example is that it states the Suzuki Intruder 1400, which everyone knows is a V-twin,was introduced in 1987 with the 1360ccV-4 engine; this error is repeated for every year 87-2005. Another is looking at Kawasaki 1995-96 they totally ommitted the GPZ1100(ZX1100 E1 & F1) models. I can understand gaps in research on the older stuff, but these were well documented only a few years ago! The color photos are first rate, but they include repeated views of the same bike: the 69-71 Hondas they picture the CB750 SIX times; in the 1989-90 Hondas the all new models introduction of the GB500, Transalp 600, ST1100 and PacificCoast800 and there are NO pictures?!
The repros of older magazine ads are a nice feature. This is a book if you can pick up on the half off bargin rack would be a nice find, but I regret paying top dollar for it.

  4. I wish I had read these reviews first. I purchased the book based on a review in a monthly I trusted. It is not a total waste but a big disappointment. In less than two hours I found the above comments and others like the TWO out of four pictures in the 1999 Kawasaki section misidentified. Also three Nighthawk S pictures with minor paint changes are a complete waste of space as were SV1000 and SV650 pictures where the only difference is muffler size. It was obviously not edited or reviewed by a motorcyclist. Big disappointment.

  5. This book is so inaccurate it is ridiculous. I have had many vintage Japanese bikes and I know them so when I see how wrong this book is in so many areas it is just terrible. This book is hastily thown together to make money. It is very bad. It is not just poorly done it is very misleading with incorrect information thoughout.

  1. My Daughter wanted to buy this book for my husbands birthday. He is the Service Manager at the local motorcycle dealer in town. My husband and the owner of the store were astounded by the details of not just the bikes in general, but in which the drawings portrayed for each paticular make of bike. My husband very much liked the idea of the briefs under the drawing about the particular bike displayed. Infact my husband likes this book so much he is keeping it as a collectors item. He made perfectly clear that he had no intentions of making one mark in such a beautiful work of art. Thankyou so much for such a wonderful gift for a very special person. Sincerely, Eileen A. Caprio

  2. Okay, liseten up ladys...this book tot me how to ski!!! My friends are very proud of me and my mom says, "Dude, your one coolest kid and your my favorite kid ever!!!!" Best book ever go out and get it!!!

  3. My son loves this book which he got from his grandpa for Christmas. He is 5 and autistic and LOVES motorcycles. This keeps him engaged for at least an hour. I now need to purchase another one because he has colored his first one already. I do wish the writing was bigger and a little easier to read to younger children, but otherwise a great coloring book for those kids who love motorcycles.

  4. I don't know much about motorcycles but my husband is really into them and he likes this color book; it's a way for him to relax and stay busy at the same time.

3 comments about Motorcycle Ride on the Sea of Tranquility.
  1. I'm a great fan of the "coming of age" story and of the first novel. "The Cider House Rules" by John Irving, being one of my favorite coming of age stories.

In Patracia Santana's "Motorcyle Ride on the Sea of Tranquility" we view the world from the eyes of a teenage Mexican American girl/woman whose brothers' recent return from Vietnam has turned her world upside down. Her brother, like so many Vietnam vets., has returned home possessed by demons.

While her brother struggles to right himself fourteen-year-old Yolanda "Yoli" Sahagun must not only learn to deal with her beloved brothers' gloom and doom mood but learn to deal with her own daunting and confusing experience. That of becoming a woman.

I hope the rest of America soon discovers, as I did, this rich, humorous, sad, and wonderful story. Author Santana obviously has her finger, and her heart, on the pulse of the Latino community. The dialoge is strong and Latino in this well written and well told story. For a glimps inside the life of a real Mexican Ameican family, read "Motorcyle Ride on the Sea of Tranquility." Cammy Diaz A @ L

  2. Unfortunately, I am not the Francisco that Yoli, the young heroine in Patricia Santana's beautiful first novel, falls in love with. But I wish I was. For long after having read this novel, I still find myself thinking of Yoli and imagining her giving me "the look". Isn't that the highest and most worthwhile achievement of a novel? That a Yoli or a Don Quixote become as real as hope, and in our moments of reflection, their words and actions echo our own internal beauty? Patricia, may you give us many more Yoli's and may your clear and strong writing, like a rippling, cool, mountain brook, continue to remind us of our source.

  3. Patricia Santana has struck a chord on so many levels. She went back into the 1960's where even as children we knew they were turbulent, yet exhilarating times. Her expression of adolescent curiosities, love and confusion are as prevalent today as they were during that time, making this a novel that most people will have a self-to-text connection with. Being the child of immigrants I easily related to the home she grew up in and the traditions of the world during that time.
The novel is a well crafted. It makes us look at the world through the eyes of truly plausible, interesting characters and gives us some insights of the devastating aftermath of the Vietnam War.

1 comments about Motostars: Celebrities & Motorcycles.
  1. This richly illustrated 168-page companion to the exhibit at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum presents a comprehensive examination of the relationship between celebrities and motorcycling. In addition to exploring celebrities' fascination with motorcycle culture, the book delves into the impact of celebrity culture on the motorcycle industry. Written by respected motorcycle journalist David Morris, whose articles and features appear regularly in Robb Report MotorCycling (now MotorCycling) magazine. From the introduction:

"For all their power and means, the renowned individual, no matter what their fame or fortune, are confronted with the inescapable reality of a machine that defies them, yet enchants them. Get it wrong, and the motorcycle communicates with brutal consequence. Get it right, and one escapes all the preoccupations and troubles of the material world.

"For the celebrity whose every breath and utterance is monitored by both general public and immediate entourage, the motorcycle offers a more than a ticket to heaven. On a motorcycle, one rediscovers oneself."
