1 comments about Destination Highways Washington: A Motorcycle Enthusiast's Guide to the Best 346 Roads in Washington State.
  1. The most focused book I have found yet for motorcycle riding in Washington. Rating each suggested road based on twistiness, road surface and so on, is a wonderful way to judge a ride before trying it.
This book was good enough to warrant taking it with me on the bike (with such limited space) for last week's ride from California to Washington. I found the information accurate after trying several of the roads highlighted in there.
Not much fluff in the book, mostly factual and objective, not a bed-time story.

  1. I couldn't put this book down. I'm generally not a fan of fantasy novels, but this book is well written, with an amazing story line. I highly recommend it to anyone, no matter what your preferences are. The story touches on so many different emotions and levels, and in an eloquent way. No matter what you might be 'in to', you'll find it in Thunder Rider's Burden!

  3. I like the love story between Harley and Leisha!!! I also love the intricate world Harley is thrown into. This is the 1st step of a fan art I am working on, of Leisha and Harley!

  4. To describe this book, one must use words like:

trite, banal, commonplace, corny, dull, hackneyed, hokey, horrible, stale, uninspired, unoriginal, vapid, appalling, awful, heinous, lousy, lurid, horrid and terrible.

Poor plot, flat characters and out and out bad writing. It did however make fine kindling on a cold night!

  5. To the reader from Jackson Hole WY. I am sorry that you found my novel to be without any saving grace. I have my doubts as to wether you have actually read it, but be that as it may, if you will return the book to me, I will refund double your money. My e-mail address is thethunderrider@yahoo.com contact me to make arrangements.

3 comments about Freestyle Motocross: Jump Tricks from the Pros (Cyclepro).
  1. Being a beginner, I was hoping to see at least one chapter of "how to jump" or even a few chapters on "beginning freestyle jumps". But, if you are an experienced jumper, this book is for you. Great pics and instructions. Just too advanced for my abilities.

  2. If your looking for tips and how to ride like the pro's then you got to get this book. It was easy to understand if you know all the terms. It really helped my performance and now I do better on the track. This is a must get for any dedicated MotoCross Rider.

  3. This book will help u get to your stages u want to get to. Some of the tricks you have to do on bigger jumps because you have to get more air time but build up slowly on ramps and get into bigger tricks. You never know you might be in the x games or gravity games.

2 comments about MX: The Way of the Motocrosser.
  1. If you liked "American Motocross Illustrated" then you've got to have this book. The explosive growth of MX/SX/AX and Freestyle over the past ten+ years have provided Davey Coombs with the perfect platform to launch a book like this. As Racer X grows and matures with the sport, hopefully there will be a racing annual for MX like there is for NASCAR, F!, ETC.

  2. I am a motocross junky. This book is well done. The writers from Racer X have given our sport a face and pictures to go with it. If you like bikes and todays top riders, you'll enjoy this book. Also see the American Motocross books.

2 comments about Vespa: The Colour Family Album (Colour Album Series).
  1. This book is great. The book covers how vespa have grown over the past fifty years. With over 90 pictures of fully restored books, this book will open your eyes about vespas

  2. i picked up this book and read it from cover to cover immediately. the photos are gorgeous, and the information is presented in easily understood language. it's a book that's probably aimed at kids, but it was just what i needed to be introduced to the topic. anyone who collects books about scooters will enjoy owning this... the photographers were very careful in choosing settings that compliment the vespas *beautifully*, as you can see from the cover!

4 comments about Motocourse: 50 Years of Moto Grand Prix : The Official History of the Fim Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (Hazleton History).
  1. Even if you're not one of the die-hards who regularly buys the Motocourse annual this is the book you cannot live without. Five chapters deal with the different epoques in Motorcycle GP Racing - especially the chapter covering the years 78-87, written by Dennis Noyes is captivating, but even the chapter covering 88-98 by Michael Scott brings tears to your eyes.

The book is deliberately sprinkled with excellent photos, and for the anoraks among us, there is a complete statistic appendix covering results and records.

If this book is not enough for you, another book is available on the same topic. It's french, written by Didier Ganneau and is called - surprise - 50 ans de Grands Prix Moto. (1999 Editions SOLAR, ISBN 2-363-02877-3)

  2. Anyone with serious interest in motocycle racing needs a reference work of impeccable quality and accuracy, and this is it. There is no point in going on at length about the excellence of this magnificent book, because it delivers satisfaction at every level, from the quality of its contributors (Dennis Noyes, Michael Scott, et al), the brilliance of its photography (Malcolm Bryan, Gold & Goose, etc.) and the completeness of its historical record, not only in describing the technical trajectory of race-bike development and rider accomplishment in all relevant classes, including sidercar, but in the vital statistics that record the results. It's all here, rendered at the highest levels of journalism and publishing.
Hazelton's annual Motocourse journals on motoGP racing are terrific, but somewhat costly, but this wrapup of the entire post-WWII record of GP motorcycle racing does it all. No enthusiast should be without it.

  3. For anyone who needs to know anything about grand prix racing, this book tells it all. The great English and Italian bikes, the coming of the Japanese and so on, it's all here. Fantastic photos and priceless words. Worth every penny.

  4. Execellent and comprehensive study of the Grand Prix motorcycle scene, with lots on insider stuff besides just the statistics. I especially enjoyed the vignette on the role and influence that "King Kenny" Roberts had on the Euro-centric organizational power structure.

The one short-coming which perhaps Dennis Noyes will address for his NEXT book would be maps for all the circuits where GP motorcycle races have been run.

This one belongs in every two-wheel enthusiast's library
