- I have a CB100's and I need more information about it. I think that I use this facility I can find something. My CB100 have a problem in its engine. The OHC (OHC chain) can't work well. That chain frict pistone block and make a hole on it. I try to fix it, but its useless. That chain still frict the block. What can I do?
And about the brake. My motorcycle front brake is not originaly CB100 have. My friend said that its Yamaha's have. But he didn't know what type is it. Its look like old type brake. Its use a cable not a hydrolic which using fluid on it. So if you have any information or opinion please send to me. Thanks for your attention.
- I'm just a poor college kid who found an old 1972 CB100 at a salvage yard for about a hundred bucks. A guy at the local bike shop let me skim through this book when i had a few questions for him, and I decided I had to own it. I haven't seen a better book about these bikes, in fact, I haven't seen too many books on these bikes period. The brake work went smoothly thanks to this book, and so did the recent carb. rebuild. Though you should have general knowledge before hand, this book is pretty easy to follow. If you own an old CB100 you should definately own this book, and get it quickly before it goes out of print. Besides, if I can figure it out, I'm sure most everyone else can also.
- Quick shipping and a great product...met and/or exceeded my expectations!
- Good overview for basic rebuild. Trouble shooting when the rebuild does not work as planned could be improved upon. Some of the pictures do not clearly show the details of areas worked on.

- As usual Haynes have produced another excellent workshop manual. I have used a number of their manuals for different models of cars and always found them to be an excellent source of information and guidance on 'how to' fix a vehicle.
I especially like the foreword covering the history of the Honda motorcycle. Th cost of the manual is easily recouped after a single repair and it gives you the satisfaction and security of knowing that you have the knowledge of how to fix most problems with the bike and also maintain it in peak condition.
- Between this and the Honda manual for the ST1100, you should be able to tackle all routine and not-so-routine maintenance. Especially useful if you're new to (or rusty on) mc repair techniques for this engine and drive train design.

- Clymer manuals are pretty much the standard for after-market motorcycle repair manuals.
It covers both general maintenance and more in depth mechanics. In any Clymer manual you will find detailed drawings, instructions on how to break down the engine, and so on. This one is no different. The M340 Clymer Repair Manual covers the GL1000 engine from 1975 to 1979 and the GL1100 Standard & Interstate engines from 1980 to 1983.

- Doing for motorcycles what Chilton does for cars. This book has great information, like how to give an oil change, how to check your chain, how to replace a headlight and how to rebuild your engine. Everything from little to small is in this book. The index is very poort however and the TOC is also lacking, but the book does have markers on the right hand side to easily find the chapter you are looking for.
- This manual is just what you need in order to be able to service your vintage Honda. Not only does it describe every possible repair, but also it improves your understanding of how the Honda 750 DOHC works. Here are some of the features, which I especially value in the manual:
1. The text follows systematically the actual sequence of the described repair/service. This is probably the single most important point for me and I can not stress enough how meticulously detailed the text is. I have never felt lost, or surprised, or unable to follow the guidance offered by this manual. 2. A clearly numbered photograph gives visual clarification of every stage of the repair/service. The clearly marked photos give a useful visual aid in identification of components - if you have doubts about which the primary needle jet is, after seeing a photo of the whole float bowl area with the jet in a circle, you should be able to figure it out. 3. Common practices and malpractices are described preemptively, which is very useful for the amateur mechanic. 4. The Troubleshooting and the Maintenance and Tune-Up sections give excellent information on motorcycle diagnostics and prophylactics. In conclusion, I must say that the Clymer publications have been more that just workshop manuals - they have been great textbooks from which I learned the basics of motorcycle maintenance. They are indispensable. Of the many publications out there, they are also the best.
- This book covers the basics, to some pretty advanced jobs on the covered motorcycles. For example, the book avoids subjects such as adjusting the jets on the carburetors, refering the user to a qualified mechanic, yet it covers such topics as replacing the transmission gears! The reason I stopped short of 5 stars is because it is sometimes difficult to find your desired topic, as some things are covered twice, but to a different degree, which can cause confusion at first. I wanted to adjust the self-adjusting DOHC's, due to lifter noise. I found one section which required me to take the head off, then, later, I discovered a screw adjust, on the rear side of the block, which was quite simple, and fast, which would allow the DOHC's to self-adjust automatically.
The Index, and the Table of Contents, are not exhaustive, but you can usually find what you are looking for. I just add notes to the Table of Contents when I find something which isn't marked as it should be, and I use a highlighter, as well, on the body of the text.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. It is an invaluable tool for even light self-maintenance. I still rely upon a Honda mechanic for the big stuff, but for minor adjustments, it is required reading. The text is highly readable, the photo's are good, and helpful, though not perfect. If you own an older Honda motorcycle, I strongly recommend you pick this up for your piece of mind. Cheers!
- I think it is a good book. A few pictures of some bell bottoms or a nice break dancing shirt would have livened it up a bit, but all in all it was decent in helping me tune my bike!

- Well written, great photography, well researched sidebars on significant, influential models, more than I expected for the price. Very well done.
- This is what a good, accurate, detailed motorcycle book is supposed to be. You get great information and fantastic pictures of original, historically important motorcycles, their riders and the facts that go with them. There is so much speculation these days by people who think they remember what happened, or what a bike was supposed to look like, or when a particular feature was added or changed in a particular model line. This book sets a lot of that straight. It seems the author knows and has spoken personally to the factory racers, mechanics, engineers and competitors to get the information. I got the impression that the author and the historic people themselves were good friends! I got a kick out of the Soichiro Honda quote the first time he rode the great CB 750 in 1969. It really brings characters to life.
Jeff Hackett is frequently used as a resource, as he is one of the top authorities on photographing and restoring old Hondas among other motorcycles. Many of the top authorities, authors and restorers have been accessed to create this book. To top it off I get great, color, engine-out photos of the famous RC-166 and RC-160 motors that so much legend has been made of. This all in consideration, the book is not the absolute last word on Honda motorcycles, as many models, specifically US models and some others have been omitted or intentionally left-out. Thankfully, there are other top notch books like that written by Bill Silver that pick up any slack that was omitted herein, but this is the best effort so far at being far better than any "coffee table book" and definitely a must for the restorer or researcher. This is not a re-hashed and fluffed-up "coffee table book", as it is really an up-to-date, detailed history with a bit of myth and legend mixed it for good balance and flow. You should read it end to end; but, you can just as easily flip through it now and then for a "fix" as well. Either way, this is one book you should have in your collection. For the record, I have personally started restoring old Hondas and this book no doubt will pay for itself repeatedly over the years as I take on new projects!
- Very nice reference book. Glad to have it as an addition to my collection..

- Clymer has made a great book for Honda Valkyrie repairs. Many books do not have great detail or accompanying pictures. Clymer does it right and has great schematic drawings of the electrical are great and all the technical speak in the book are comprehensible to the layman. I'm glad I got this book and I would buy it again as a first choice.
