- Doing for motorcycles what Chilton does for cars. This book has great information, like how to give an oil change, how to check your chain, how to replace a headlight and how to rebuild your engine. Everything from little to small is in this book. The index is very poort however and the TOC is also lacking, but the book does have markers on the right hand side to easily find the chapter you are looking for.
- This manual is just what you need in order to be able to service your vintage Honda. Not only does it describe every possible repair, but also it improves your understanding of how the Honda 750 DOHC works. Here are some of the features, which I especially value in the manual:
1. The text follows systematically the actual sequence of the described repair/service. This is probably the single most important point for me and I can not stress enough how meticulously detailed the text is. I have never felt lost, or surprised, or unable to follow the guidance offered by this manual. 2. A clearly numbered photograph gives visual clarification of every stage of the repair/service. The clearly marked photos give a useful visual aid in identification of components - if you have doubts about which the primary needle jet is, after seeing a photo of the whole float bowl area with the jet in a circle, you should be able to figure it out. 3. Common practices and malpractices are described preemptively, which is very useful for the amateur mechanic. 4. The Troubleshooting and the Maintenance and Tune-Up sections give excellent information on motorcycle diagnostics and prophylactics. In conclusion, I must say that the Clymer publications have been more that just workshop manuals - they have been great textbooks from which I learned the basics of motorcycle maintenance. They are indispensable. Of the many publications out there, they are also the best.
- This book covers the basics, to some pretty advanced jobs on the covered motorcycles. For example, the book avoids subjects such as adjusting the jets on the carburetors, refering the user to a qualified mechanic, yet it covers such topics as replacing the transmission gears! The reason I stopped short of 5 stars is because it is sometimes difficult to find your desired topic, as some things are covered twice, but to a different degree, which can cause confusion at first. I wanted to adjust the self-adjusting DOHC's, due to lifter noise. I found one section which required me to take the head off, then, later, I discovered a screw adjust, on the rear side of the block, which was quite simple, and fast, which would allow the DOHC's to self-adjust automatically.
The Index, and the Table of Contents, are not exhaustive, but you can usually find what you are looking for. I just add notes to the Table of Contents when I find something which isn't marked as it should be, and I use a highlighter, as well, on the body of the text.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. It is an invaluable tool for even light self-maintenance. I still rely upon a Honda mechanic for the big stuff, but for minor adjustments, it is required reading. The text is highly readable, the photo's are good, and helpful, though not perfect. If you own an older Honda motorcycle, I strongly recommend you pick this up for your piece of mind. Cheers!

- How can you own the mid eighties Honda VF's and not have this. I would be lost without it, or at least at the mercy of my local Honda dealer. Good photos and tech writing make this the one to have if you like to keep your Magna or Sabre streetable.

3 comments about Clymer Honda 50-110Cc Ohc Singles, 1965-1999.
- Nice book overall. Has lots of pictures of assemblies to make it easier to disassemble and reassemble the parts.
Nice set of specifications for the little tiddler bikes.
- Got this for a 1971 Honda CT70. Clymer does a fairly decent job of covering so many different model years/models in a single book.
This broad coverage makes it sort of inconvenient to find the exact section that covers my bike, but this is probably the reason it is still in publication.
I've only used it to help fix a shifting problem and change the oil so far. The troubleshooting gave pointed to the geneneral areas to look, but it was some phone advice from an avid collector and self discovery that fixed the problem.
It seems to cover 4 or 5 different "Types" of clutch designs but does not list my bike as one of the types making it slightly confusing, but the other models were similar enough to be of help.
Great deal if you own multiple models/years of bikes covered by this book.
- This is one of the essential reference books if you are working on Honda 50 or 70s. It will pay for itself in a matter of minutes when working on an engine.

- This manual is a must for anyone with a SOHC/4 Honda from the 70's. It is full of useful information on repairs and maintenance procedures. Great pictures and step-by-step instructions on everything from adjustments to washers. It's the Haynes manual for the motorcycle world, very informative and nesessary when working on an older four cylinder bike.
- This is a must have book if you own a Honda CB550. I have a 77 CB550F and it does the job to help you out with repairs. You will find that this is not the holy bible for motorcycle maitenence.

5 comments about Honda Cb550 and 650 Nighthawk 1983 1985.
- I have used this book extensively to repair and maintain my Honda. It provides all the pertinent information needed and has many diagrams and pictures to help with complex procedures. The toughest one I did was replacing the ignition switch... which was a lot bigger chore than I had first imagined. But with the help of this book I was able to successfully replace the switch. For those reasons I give this book a big thumbs up... (not to mention I don't know of any other books out there for an 85 Honda CB650).
- This is a "must have" manual for Nighthawk owners.
The wiring diagrams are especially a "need-to-know".
I give it a "ten".!!
- If you have an Honda Nighthawk 650, you must have this book.
It's complete and well done.
Only one negative thing, only B&W pics.
Why try to find original documents when you can buy this book? Even if you are not experienced, with this book you can afford maintenance of your bike.
- This shop guide is an indespensible tool for repairing and maintaining your Honda Nighthawk.
- This is a must-have if you own the bike. The book is quite good and illustrations are presented where necessary. My only gripe is that there should be more emphasis on troubleshooting and repairing without replacing components. This book will tell you how to remove and replace any item on your bike, but it doesn't always tell you how to spot a problem. And it never comments on how your bike could be repaired without buying a new part.

2 comments about Motorcycling For Dummies (For Dummies (Sports & Hobbies)).
- This book is chock full of insider tips that will make motorcycling safer, and more fun, for both the veteran and the novice rider. I've spent years riding all types of motorcycles and interviewing all types of motorcyclists. The knowledge I've gained is spelled out in this book in a fun and easy-to-read way so that you don't have to interview hundreds of riders yourself! Want to know how to plan a motorcycle trip they way the motojournalists do? I show you how. Want to know what to do if you ride into a corner waaay too fast? I let you know. Want to fit in with the biker crowd? I reveal how. Don't know what to pick for your first motorcycle? I steer you the right way. Are you a woman looking into getting into motorcycling? I help you discover how to fit in, and provide resources specifically for women. It's a fun book full of great info. I hope you enjoy it. -- Bill Kresnak
- By the third mention of Angelina Jolie riding a motorcycle in Chapter 1 to justify the "coolness"of motorcycling the book has already started to go downhill. With the exception of a few chapters (buying a first bike: what you should know & keeping your bike in tiptop shape) I have found most of the other chapters read so far (which in fairness is only about half) to be total fluff and of little value. Worst off, some of the valuable chapters seem to have little added value when compared to the FREE DMV material. Unless you really have to know the "Ten Must-See Motorcycling Movies" save some money, use the internet when you have questions and take an intro level rider training course.

5 comments about Clymer Honda: Cb750 Nighthawk, 1991-1993 and 1995-1999 (Clymer Motorcycle Repair Manuals).
- Well, this is about the only book there is, so if you want one this is it. It covers what you need to know about regular maintenance and jobs right up to major overhauls. Recommended to any owner.
- I needed help with my 1995 CB750. Clear examples and a lot of information. Much better than the factory manual which was impossible to get for my bike. For those new to wrenching the chapter on shop procedures is a good guide to see if you are getting in over your head. Save time & money, learn about your ride from the inside out. Recommended
- 1st off, there are NOT a lot of other options, but it's OK as this manual is really pretty thorough. The Nighthawk is my 1st bike, so the Clymer manual is a great walkthrough of the working parts and maintennance routines necessary to keep the bike running smoothly. The electrical diagrams and troubleshooting sections are quite good for even the novice to follow, and of course, the top end diagrams are excellent (very similar to a Haynes auto manual).
- I recently picked up a '92 Honda Nighthawk 750 for my brother. He's a re-entry biker, like me. What's important to have is a good sense of what you're in for when you get a new bike, especially if you've been out of the hobby for awhile.
This book clearly provides just about everything you need to know, from basics to deep internal mechanics. It's written clearly (for the most part), and it has very detailed diagrams & photos.
- If you don't know how to maintenance your nighthawk CB750 this is a great reference tool. Even if you don't generally maintenance "things" this will help save you a bundle for the small adjustments that make your ride so much better. I haven't found anything wrong with this manual and I would recommend this to my best friend who owns a CB750.

2 comments about Haynes Honda Shadow VT600 & 750 Owners Workshop Manual: 1988 thru 2003 (Owners Workshop Manual).
- This book is packed with many photo's and instructions on how to perform many basic and advanced tasks for working on your Honda shadow motorcycle and has proven useful for me in my general maintenance, which also include checking on the breaks, fluids, anti-freeze replacement, fuel filter and so forth. Including helpful hints on removing / getting to some of he more difficult to reach areas.
I feel this was definatly a worthwhile purchase and has saved me money at the shop by better qualifying me to do some more of my own basic work / maintenance on the motorcycle.
- Exceptionally clear pictures and caption makes the backbone of this book. I was positively surprised, compared with many Haynes manuals for cars that I've seen.
Clear and consistent division of each chapter into paragraphs (check - removal- replacement - installation etc.) helps the reader to make things in good order and not forgetting anything.
Sections of general interest like maintenance techniques & tooling, troubleshooting, tire changing makes part of this book valuable even after you have sold your bike - take copies!

4 comments about Clymer Honda Twinstar, Rebel 250 & Nighthawk 250: 1978-2003 (Clymer Motorcycle Repair) (Clymer Motorcycle Repair).
- Having a slightly flakey Honda Rebel it became very important to me to be able to find my way around the bike. This manual is extremely informative and extremely accurate. It does detail just about everything you need to know.
However for a relative neophyte such as myself it has some significant deficiencies: 1) The photographs are black and white and quite low contrast, you cannot always quite see what they are pointing at and thus finding it on the bike is tough 2) I think these manuals are designed for a motorcycle repair shop, they often assume too much. 'Quickly check the compression before reseting the timing' is not detailed enough for someone that is proud he found the ignition switch ... 3) They were only half updated for the newer model. The 199x model rebels are different to the older ones but all the differences are contained in a seperate chapter As I say, I don't think there is anything any better ... but this manual will be a little intimidating for a newbie ...
- Top quality routine maintenance and repair manual. The pictures with the text and the step by step format is a home mechanic's "right hand" tech manual.
This is just one of many Clymer manuals I've had over many years. Always top shelf material.
- I ordered this book to help trouble shoot starting problems I was having with the bike. It gave me very precise instructions, and easy to follow illustrations.
I was able to find and fix the problem in no time. I recommend it if you have this bike.
Shima.
- Great packaging, fast shipping, and really was brand new with the correct item sent! Would buy from again!
