1. This, in my opinion, is one of the better books on H-D. There is enough material to satisfy your historical palate, but not so much that you feel bogged down with to many details. If incredible historical detail is what your after, get Harry Sucher's book "H-D, the Milwaukee Marvel." Leffingwell's book is easy and enjoyable reading, with lots of good color photos to go along. I would have liked a little more information on the founders of H-D; more detail on how they shaped the company policies and what had become of them. Also, it would have been nice to have gotten more on the changes in the evolution engine. But over-all, a very enjoyable book. (incidently, the title is "H-D, 'History' and Mystique," not "Myth" and Mystique.

1. this book has excellent pictures and text. It goes into great detail on every explanation. My only thought on improving it would be a section on routine maintenince like the back of an owners manual which would link the mileage and the function to perform in just a few words.



2. Looking around for this book at the dealership took me having to travel 30 miles to the closest Harley shop, at least 1 hour of my time and still they would need to order it. It would take 2 to 3 weeks for it to come into the shop and would cost approximately $75. On Amazon, I ordered online, didn't leave my house, took 5 minutes to order, the cost including s&H still did not even total 1/2 of what I would have speant through the dealership. Not to mention I received the book mailed directly to my home in 3 days. Go figure??? Talk about Harley jipping people; whoa! Get what you need here, convenient, quick and fast.

4. This book has so much miss infomation you don't know what to believe.ie 1966 FLH first year info says fuel shut off is on the lower left tank. It's on the right tank. (the only year it was).There are many omissions like no production totals for 1965 FLH. These are just a few of many mistakes.

1. There are few brand names in the world that provoke such an image of power, rebellion, and individual freedom as does the name "Harley-Davidson." This book takes us on a reading journey with the big boys on Harley's to Sturgis, South Dakota and on the road across America. I was already imagining myself as this rebel in black leather riding into town as I looked at the photos of those bikers cruising down the main street. The truth is that today's bikers are regular folks and not much like those gangsters that Marlon Brando portrayed in "The Wild One" many long years ago.
   
   There is a certain mystical quality to the lore and myth that surrounds Harley bikes and their riders. This book picks up on some of that powerful energy. The photos really capture the beauty and artistry of these machines. What is nice about this book for younger people is that it does not glorify "The Hell's Angels" image and delivers something much more family friendly and enriching. The text is good at getting the reader little pieces of information and history. It makes a great marriage to the colorful photos which are abundant inside the book.
   
   A good read for young men of all ages. Should be of greatest interest to teenage boys but it appeals to the young at heart!
   
   I personally recommend this book for all young male readers and old dreamers like myself! A must read book!
