- An excellent tome of information and to be recommended to anyone interested in the evolution of Ducati's 8 valve models from both a UK and USA perspective. To read gives an understanding of how an anachronism of a peculiar 90degree V twin came to dominate the WSB series despite an annual dilution of the initially favourable rules.

3 comments about Haynes Ducati 600, 750 and 900 2-Valve V-Twins Service and Repair Manual, 1991 to 1996 models.
- I originally planned on buying the factory manual from Ducati for my Duc907, but quickly found out that even the Ducati mechanics recommend using the Haynes manual over the factory one. Good thing, too, because the factory manual costs $80 (if they even have it in stock) vs. $29 for the Haynes manual. To top it all off, Amazon offers if for just $19 and can get it to you the next day. Such a deal, I just bought another one for my brother!
- Great manual, easy to follow with handy tips to help me out. There's not to many words and lots of pictures (a picture says a thousand words!)which make it clear what is being refered to and how things are done. It has ratings for each job so you know if youre up to the challange or if it'd be over your head before you even start! Using Amazon is excellent, easy and helpful! Recomend the manual and Amazom to anyone.
- I bought this book for my 2001 900SS even though it is outside the covered year range, and I found this book to be the best Haynes manual I have ever used. It is much more user friendly in its layout and descriptions of tasks, and I found alot of good advice for the maintenance I already knew how to do, such as bleeding brakes, etc.
I checked the valve clearances, and although the book was informative on how to proceed with removing the shims, etc. I did back off from that. I plan to talk to a couple of mechanics before I actually do remove the shims for replacement. Even so, the book was there with good advice: put some heavy wire into the vertical piston spark plug hole to hold the intake valve after you remove the bottom shim!

3 comments about Ducati: The Official Racing History.
- Even if you own every other Ducati book ever written, this is THE book to own! In association with the Ducati factory, this book shows their bikes in the factory museum. Well written with new information and exceptional photographs unlike any other Ducati book I own. Features the factory race bikes with some excellent info and photos of the standard bikes. Text is in English and was printed in Italy. EVERY motorcycle enthusiast should own this book. The best book bargain out there when purchased on Amazon. I was so impressed I bought two of them!
- This book is detailed and high quality. Excellent for a coffee table piece. It is an inch thick, lot of content. Great value for the price.
- I bought this book at Amazon.com because I just had to have it. I'm no Ducatisti, but I can appreciate Ducati racing history and I'll check out a Duc when I find one to look over the carbon fiber, expensive gold bits, and the chicken strips on the tires. And the famous Ducs are all here in this book for me to eye whenever I want. You get the usual development and racing history of each model in this book, but best of all, you get great pictures of vicious old Italian racers in black leathers and big 2-page layouts of the famous racers like Mike "The Bike" Hailwood's 900, Lucky's 750 F1, Doug Polen's 888 Superbike, and Foggy's 916. These pictures let you really get in there to inspect honest rock chips, race scrapes and battle scars. I took one star away from my rating because the text reads like a corny, congratulatory sales brochure, but it is the "Official Racing History" from the constructor so what do you expect? This book is pure motorcycle porn. If you love sportbikes or motorcycles in general, you need this book. It's worth every penny. Enjoy the ducs, but Ride Red.

2 comments about Ducati Twins Restoration.
- The fact that it may be the one and only is beside the point! Anyone attempting to maintain or restore one of these Ducati models would be well served to buy Walker's book. The price is steep, but the money will be very well spent.
The author, Mick Walker, is unusual in that he is a well respected expert, yet he avoids the slavish PR blather common to many Ducati writers. He paid his dues as a long time dealer and rider, and his approach to the bikes is respectful but pragmatic. Walker writes in a clear, easily readable style. He comes across as someone to spend a few hours drinking beers with in the garage while wrenching on that old Ducati. The book is also full of excellent photographs, exploded diagrams, and a comprehensive technical specifications section. The text includes exhaustive detail on and the strengths and weaknesses of everything from paint colors to the various electrical systems. More important, it includes useful insights and practical recommendations derived from years of hard work, trial and error. Based on the age and increasing rarity of these machines, Walker's book is an invaluable resource. One of the most appealing aspects of the book is that it depicts a dollarwise approach to restoring or owning a Ducati. Most motorcyclists may find that laughable, but, if so, they haven't read Walker's book. This is gem.
- If you are going to get a book to help you restore your Ducati twin, you better pass on this one and get a good shop manual .There is litle material of use and the content is mostly a repeat of is other Ducati books .You would expect a step by step knowhow aproach with usefull imputs like the Dave Richardson Guzzilogy book for Moto-Guzzi .A good restoration book is about guiding the reader with how to hints, tips and tricks from pros that have done it many times .There are lots of photos that will show you a Ducati part with a typo description an no more ,like for example (this is what a Ducati clutch looks like +PHOTO.

1 comments about Illustrated Ducati Buyer's Guide (Illustrated Buyer's Guide).
- One of a series of Osprey motorcycle buyer's guides. I picked this up when contemplating buying a 1980s Mike Hailwood Replica. (I didn't, bad decision!) Coverage is complete for models up to 1990. The advantage of this printing over a later one is fuller coverage of some of the older models. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in exploring Ducatis. It would be five stars, but one of the later printings is better for anything after 1990.

3 comments about Ducati: Design and Emotion.
- This book captures the beauty and the power of the Ducati line. An excellent history of the manufacturer, along with a prosiac but clear description of the key models and their importance. Part Art Book, part Motorcycle Mania, part Legend, just like the Bikes.
- Looking through this book was an eye opener. The photographs, the early plans & models, the history. It's all there. It was a very real pleasure to look at all the bikes. They appear to be moving even at rest.
- This is a very nice book picturewise but the text must be losing something in translation. I found it to be wandering, rambling and not always to the point. Giulio doesn't really follow a timeline historically and detours into cars, the philosophy of motorbicycles and social subjects. It certainly distracts.

1 comments about Ducati Desmoquattro Superbikes (Motorcycle Color History).
- Informative, and even more so to US readers, who are not really getting the true Ducati Exotica available, albeit in very small numbers, to World Ducatisti. At least through this book, some of the not so available info on the 916 family bikes is explained. What could be improved? more info on the 998 . All in all, still a great reference book for Desmoquattro fans.

2 comments about Ducati Super Sport (Haynes Great Bikes).
- I was hoping for a book about Super Sport history with a serious discussion of technology development and performance. Instead, the book focuses almost exclusively on cosmetics. Where technology is discussed, it is mainly to mention the substitution of this or that model of carburetor or disk brakes without any real discussion of the reasons for or consequences of these changes. The book seems geared towards collectors for whom minute details of paint scheme and turn signal location are significant. On the plus side, the photographs are numerous and beautiful, and the overall print quality is excellent.
- I truly enjoyed this book as I'm a great fan of the Ducati Supersport models (old and new). I own a more recent model (1997) and this book does not really cover these newer models in too much detail. However, to gain an understanding of the history and sequence of the older Super Sport models and also what it was that made them so special and to learn about their successes and failures in racing, this book is perfect.
