4 comments about Plantations on the Mississippi River: From Natchez to New Orleans.
  1. A great tool for the Louisiana/Mississippi genealogy/histoty buffs. It lists the owners of the land and the name of the plantations. I found it to be accurate. It is also beautiful, a perfect wall decoration for a den or study. Mary Rettig

  2. For those who enjoy poring over large maps, this one (54" x 34") names and locates all the plantations along the Mississippi River from Natchez to New Orleans in 1850. Taken from from Persac's information, it's a fascinating geographical, historical and genealogical resource. The map even lists very small plantations along the river.

If you like this, also get a copy of "Along the River Road: Past and Present on Louisiana's Historic Byway" by Mary Ann Sternberg. While that book only covers the distance between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, it's a great companion piece.

  3. I thought I was ordering a book. When I got it it was just a map. I have returned it to you.
    Elise

  4. This map is beautiful and quite large. It could be framed and be a very interesting piece of art work on a large wall. It really blew my mind as to how many plantations there were and how they lined up on the Mississippi river. You can study it for days and still not have seen everything on it. A real piece of work. Must have taken forever to research all the information and then complete the map. WOW is the best way to describe it.

1 comments about Mississippi Road Atlas: Highway Maps of Mississippi's 82 Counties & Street Maps for 50 Mississippi Cities.
  1. If you are searching for Great Grandpa's land anywhere in Mississippi, "Mississippi Road Atlas" is worth obtaining. All 82 counties are clearly marked with Township, Range and Sections. Cemeteries are also marked on many counties. Some maps are several years old but that adds to the usefulness as land changes over time.
I have already dog-eared my copy and plan to use it until it falls apart.

  1. The product came on time, well packaged, and exactly as described. A great shopping experience.

  2. Got us to South Dakota, but none of the roads we wanted to go on once we were there were marked with road signs. So we had to guess and got lost. A LOT.

  3. This atlas is not confusing. Generally each grid has the county or area within it that you are wanting information. I buy mobile homes. When the person is giving directions, I can see it on the map instantly. I highly recommend it.

  4. "The DeLorme South Dakota Atlas and Gazetteer" is an excellent resource for trip planning. South Dakota is a deceptively large state with a lot of wide open spaces and its own rugged terrain. This atlas should allow the average traveler to navigate to pretty much any place on the road network, and to gain a limited appreciation for the terrain along the way. The scale of the map is quite good for such a large state; the numbered and multicolored map sheets are detailed to one inch equals 3.2 miles. The map sheets also include latitude/longitude markings for GPS grids.

In addition to a locational gazetteer, this DeLorme Atlas provides general information on recreational opportunities. The listings include federal and state parks, game management areas for hunting; and locations suitable for fishing, hiking, or bicycling. The map scale is not detailed enough to support off-road movement; those travelers planning to do off-road route finding are advised to consult more specialized products.

The DeLorme South Dakota Atlas and Gazetteer is very highly recommended for planning and navigating for business or pleasure in South Dakota.

  5. In a time of GPS usage there is still value in a map that is so accurate and easy to follow. Sometime's you just want to see more than a 5" screeen can show at one time.
