5 comments about Streetwise San Francisco Map - Laminated City Center Street Map of San Francisco, California - Folding pocket size travel map with BART map, MUNI lines, bus routes.
- Although the map is laminated for longer wearability, we found the print too small to be helpful to us. As we were navigating the streets, it was hard to see street names and particularly bus routes. Perhaps it is because our eyesight in our 60's is not as good anymore, but we were very disappointed .
- I have about 5 of these, so no matter where I am, I can find one or have one to loan out. They are simply great maps of San Francisco. There are certainly maps with more detail, but Streetwise has engineered to put more information in a small space than you can imagine.
And the more you look, the more you realize is there. I wanted parking in downtown, and lo and behold on the downtown inset, parking garages are shown. If you know anything about San Francisco, the icons on the map give you references and make it very easy to better see context. The text is easy to read. We abuse these to death and none of them have complained or gotten rough around the edge yet. My only complaint is I wish it covered a larger area, but it does exactly what it's supposed to - it covers the 49 square mile area called San Francisco.
All of the tourist attractions are on the map. All of the main landmarks are on the map. All of the streets and street directions and MUNI and Cable Cars are on the map. You can hold it in the car and actually read it, which you can't do with any paper map on the planet. It shows so much more context than Maps on my iPhone because you can see the whole city at a glance. Well, half at a time. It's split between the north and south half of the city on the two sides of trifold plastic sheets.
If you're looking for a map of SF that you can carry with you always, this is the one. You will want other resources, possibly guidebooks if you are a tourist, the Not For Tourist Guide if you live in the City as I do, and possibly better paper maps when you really want to see detail around the kitchen table, and Google Earth and it's street level views which allow you to walk around if you are sitting in front of a computer. But this map is the one I use 95% of the time, and I has never let me down.
- This map was very detailed and was very helpful when deciding what to do and where to go.
- I bought this map for an upcoming trip to San Francisco and it will be perfect for getting us around town. Easy to read and information on public transportation is a plus. Is sturdy and will last for return visits. I use a similar map for New York City and find it essential for exploring new neighborhoods!
- Used map while visiting San Francisco and it worked well. The print was too small for me to read even with my glasses. A family member read it.
The laminated map held up well.

5 comments about World Rolled Map (M Series World Wall Maps).
- It's hung in one of my daughters' rooms. It's reasonably up to date, clear, easy to read, and inexpensive. What's not to like? Well, laminated would be better to avoid sticky fingers, but that would raise the price as well.
- Any map you can buy at a store that is halfway decent will run you at least $20. I was very surprised to find that to be the case as I was looking around before buying this one online.
This map is beautiful, colorful, and not laminated. It sounds dorky, but I wanted a world map so that me and my husband could document with push pins all the places we've gone (we have a big trip planned this summer).
It is perfect - a great size, and very attractive. This isn't something you'll wince at every time you see it hanging on your wall.
Definitely recommend!
- This map was exactly what I was looking for. An Accurate World Map with most of the countries visible. It is easy to read and find the countries that we are looking for. I spread it out on my kitchen table and then covered it with clear vinyl. Works great!
- i put it up on the wall above my desk. I love looking at the world and seeing where things are. It's a good size, about 3 foot by 4 foot.
- This is a very nice map with many details but you are better off going with a laminated version for a few more $$$.

1 comments about Rand Mcnally 2010 the Road Atlas: United States / Canada / Mexico (Rand Mcnally Road Atlas: United States, Canada, Mexico).
- Rand McNally's atlas is always good. I have collected the atlas for years, and was kind of dissappointed with the lack of updates in the 2010 version. The more I got to thinking about it, however, I realized it wasn't Rand McNally's fault! Fewer and fewer roads are being built.
With that said, the atlas is great. Every traveller should get this atlas if they do not have a recent version. Even with all of our fancy GPS equipment, it never hurts to have a trusty paper atlas available. You never know when your electronic device is going to malfunction, but your paper atlas will still be there for you.

5 comments about Streetwise Washington, DC, Laminated City Center Street Map.
- I took this lil map with me all over DC and used it ALL THE TIME! It's acurate, and not only did it help me, but I was able to give directions to other people. I highly recommend taking this map along with you to DC. Yes they have free paper ones in the airport or around DC, but they don't open as nice as this one does. This one also is laminated, so it won't tear or become ruined when you get caught with it in the rain... which I did. :)
- Perfect size to fit flat in a purse, very detailed for the mall which you need. Also sturdy enough so it doesn't rip at the folds.
- This is a really great map because not only does it show the streets, but it also shows the building numbers on a particular block. VERY handy in DC where the streets are SW/NW, etc. Buildings, monuments and museums are clearly marked, although printing could be a lot bigger. Appreciate the lamination for durability and small size that will fit in back jeans pocket. Excellent product !!!
- We found this map to be of great help on our recent trip to D.C. It tucks away into a pocketbook with ease. Especially appreciated the metro map feature. My only wish is that the type had been a little bigger, otherwise it was great!
- Nice Map! I think it will work fine for our Washington DC vacation. It folds nicely, has all of DC on one side, and a blow-up on the other side, showing DC and much of the surrounding area including the Dulles Airport as well as the Metro lines. Perfect for us.

5 comments about Streetwise London Laminated City Center Street Map.
- I have used many Streetwise maps throughout Europe, and they remain my favorites overall for ease of use and utility of information presented. Some have criticized this map as only being of central London, and that's true: that's also why the official name of the map is "Streetwise London Centre City." Certainly maps covering more of London exist, but they would be illegible if reduced to this size. Likewise, more detailed maps exist, but to retain the convenient size the area of map coverage would have to be greatly reduced.
All maps are designed for a purpose, and in this case the purpose is for touring central London's major streets and attractions, and for that purpose this map excels. It is an excellent balance of comprehensive information and good legibility and should suit most tourists well. The map was revised this year (2008) and contains current information in my experience. I had no difficulty finding popular (e.g., Buckingham Palace) and less known (e.g., The Dali Universe) destinations alike with this map. Although I had several maps with me, after a day or so this was the one that I reached for first. The map does have an inset map of the London underground routes and stations, and the stations themselves appear on the main map as well. I recommend the "London Underground" map by Streetwise as well if you plan on making use of the tube a lot.
I have used many brands of maps all over the world, but for ease of use, legibility, and durability, I prefer the Streetwise series of maps.
- Best thing about this is that it's laminated to withstand use and weather. Won't know about the rest of it until it's used, but it will be used shortly and used frequently for the next six months.
- I must say that this lil map of London is very good. So far I am mapping out a lot of places and things and actually found where I will be staying when I get there. :-) It is simply great, and is laminated, so it won't get dirty, bent out of shape or anything. Simply perfect!
- This was indispensable. It is perfect in the fact that it is plastic coated, it was opened many times and held up well!! My husband carried it in his jacket pocket, and we never left the hotel without it.
- This streetwise map of London was very useful for my latest trip to London. It is sturdy and compact and comprehensive. The Streetwise maps are a good product in general. I live in New York City but still use a Streetwise map of New York.

5 comments about Streetwise Manhattan Map - Laminated City Street Map of Manhattan, New York - Folding pocket size travel map with subway map, bus map.
- This is the third map in the "Streetwise" series that I have purchased and I will continue purchasing them in the future. They are excellent maps, with lots of great detail, and best of all, it's rip and stain proof. Excellent product!
- ...muy completa información sobre las calles de Nueva York, transporte, etc... indispensable para no perderse...
- This little map was very valuable to me on my trip. It fit in my purse and I pulled it out several times each day I was in New York. The subway lines were easier to read on this map that the actual map from the subway. I could easily move all over the city and know where I was at all times. I love that it's laminated too. Easy to read and to find popular sites.
- Haven't used it yet for the trip, but it has been very useful for planning! I have used Streetwise before and that's why I bought this one.
- This map helps my family and I through Manhattan. We stayed a week and I was able to use this map to get from Grand Central all the way to the Bronx ZOO. THe map is durable and very easy to read. DOn't go to NYC without it.

5 comments about Streetwise Rome Map - Laminated City Center Street Map of Rome, Italy - Folding pocket size travel map with metro map, subway.
- This handy maps are great. Be sure to review them before you leave to be sure they cover the area you will be in because they are limited to city center and specific highly traveled areas around city center but these compact maps are durable and have all the detail needed. They also include public transit. I would buy these for all my city travels.
- This was a God send for my trip, have lent it to friends who traveled after me.
- Great map of Rome. Very easy to read with map of metro and a detailed map of downtown. Extremely durable laminated finish. Folds up to fit in a back pants pocket or jacket pocket. Very easy to follow. Great value.
- I purchased this map with another one. I can't wait to use it while in Rome. It is not only very detailed, but laminated so you can't destroy it with one use. Also the size is perfect to fit in any large pocket or purse...Great map
- I just got back from a two-week stay in Rome, and this map was definitely more helpful than the paper one that came with the guidebook I bought. I especially liked the enlarged portion that showed central Rome. The lamination is key. We didn't get caught in any rain, but even with dry weather, my other, paper map was worn to shreds. Also helpful, the fact that some major landmarks were illustrated onto the streets, which helps you to stay oriented. The little metro/tram map was completely useless.

2 comments about Rand McNally 2010 The Road Atlas Large Scale: United States (Rand Mcnally Large Scale Road Atlas USA).
- A recent roadtrip with our old atlas made us wish we'd brought along a magnifying glass and it prompted me to purchase this Atlas. Granted, this one has almost twice as many pages as my old atlas, but the dimensions are the same and the spiral binding makes it very easy to handle in the car. As soon as it arrived, we compared the text size to that in our original atlas and we saw a definite advantage. Very nice!
- this road map is the best i ever seen, and ive seen some as a professional truckdriver in europe,i am gonna use it in september when i visit the usa its gonna be a big help planning the trip great!!thanks will from the netherlands

5 comments about The Next Exit, 2009 Edition.
- Absolutely fantastic for knowing totally what you can find at the next exit of major hwys in the USA as you travel. Rving with a tow...you need this! Trucking with the trailer...you need this! This is so helpful! You will never have problems finding places to park, eat, stay, fill up with gas...no matter the length of your rig!! This book is full of information! I hope to never travel without one! It is especially helpful when traveling through big city areas! I consider it every bit as necessary as my Rand McNally!
- I liked the very informative book, however it would have been more helpful if it included phone numbers for restaurants. I used the book traveling to Florida via two motorcoaches and wanted to call ahead to see if they could accomodate 100 people. I will use the book again in 2013 when I take the band to Florida but hopefully by then it will include current phone numbers. Also please note that the rest stop listed on
Interstate 65 at mm 39 in the north bound lane in Kentucky is CLOSED!
- This book lists businesses located at the exits of all the interstate highways in the US. A great tool for making a long drive more fun and less hassel.
- This book is truly a must have for anyone traveling the interstates. We travel with a 36' fifth wheel camper so knowing whether or not there is a gas station with diesel ahead is invaluable. I have two quibbles, however. First and foremost: the print type is much too small to be read safely while driving. And let's be honest folks, if you have to pull over to read it, what good is it? My second complaint is that it's not available in Kindle format, which would remove my small typeface complaint. Other than that, in the 4 months we've had this book it has been a lifesaver when it comes to knowing what's ahead.
- We bought the 2008 edition last year for an 18 hour road trip with the family. What a wonderful resource! We were able to preview exits so that we could plan which gas stations to use, where the next Cracker Barrel was, hotels if we needed them, and even attractions. You can also find out when the next rest stop will be. This enabled us to make all kids of sound decisions. For example, should we stop now or wait? Better look in the book to see when our next opportunity will be. If we got bored of eating at the same ol' place, we'd look in the book to see if there would be more interesting choices coming up soon. There are also maps for each state's interstates, as well as some close-ups. We found ourselves using the book's maps instead of the ones we got from AAA, for convenience.
An excellent book, well worth the money. It's probably wise to update every couple of years or so, though I don't see the need to update every year as most places will still be there.

5 comments about Streetwise Paris Laminated City Center Street Map.
- I had the misfortune to lose my Paris Streetwise map. Ugh. Luckily I have two day from shipping Amazon. When ordering I read some of the reviews. Please. No the map does not cover the whole city. However what's missing is not where you want to go. It's like getting a New York City map that doesn't cover the Bronx. That is good cause no one from Manhattan would ever want or dare go to the Bronx. All maps are some sort of compromise. But...What makes Streetwise more than `good enough' is that it covers what you want and need. The junk is left out. Thank you Streetwise. Thank you.
- We preferred the tourist map the hotel gave out (and at the airport), over the laminated Paris map since the tourist attractions were marked better (easier and quicker to get our bearings).
- This map was extremely useful on a recent trip to Paris. The print is a good size and the lamination is great - especially in inclement weather.
I would have appreciated a better map of the metro.
All in all, a worthwhile purchase.
- Streetwise maps are the perfect thing for not looking too much like a tourist in any city. They fold up easily every time. They are a good size for putting in your pocket or in a purse - about the size of a standard business size envelope. And they are sturdy heavy paper stock with good laminated plastic.
Paris, tourist season is about to start for 2009. This map is the perfect addition to other guidebooks (Paris (EYEWITNESS TRAVEL GUIDE)). Read the book in the hotel the night before. Use a white board marker or a grease pencil to highlight where you are headed and leave the book at the hotel. This map is really only useful for the walker / metro taker. Do not ever try to drive in Paris with this map, you will get so lost you'll never find your way out (GPS is the only way to go in that city).
The good of this map - core of the city, the most visited places by most tourists. I lived in Paris for 2 years, and this map has the essential streets. There might be a tiny street here or there not shown, but a one block long street I know well, Rue du Sabot, is shown. My interpretation, virtually every street in the core area mapped is shown on this map. Major monuments are called out with a 3-D effect drawing of the building. You won't find Musse Marmottan on here, but all the big attractions are listed. There's a pretty good map of Bois de Boulogne.
There is also an index of street names with letter / number coordinates. One panel is a solid metro map, pretty standard map. Included in that map are Roissy (CDG, the airport), Disneyland, and Versailles. There is no detail at any of these stops, but the routes are clearly marked to those stops.
The not so great - well Sacre Coeur (Montmartre) is not detailed here. That is one area a lot of tourists visit, and a miss. La Defense is not here. There's several arrondisments not included, but honestly there isn't much a tourist would visit in these areas. If you insist on visiting those areas, take a great big fold out map - you'll need it anyway. For anyone to say that this map is worthless because the 16th ar is left off, really doesn't understand the purpose of this map. And frankly, Streetwise had to make a choice, show the entire city and make the folding a nightmare, the map huge, or the scale miniscule - or focus on the key areas. I think they did a great job balancing those factors.
The update of this map bought in May of 2009 is dated 2009. Not much really changes in Paris. So if you have an older version, it will more than likely work today. The RER portion of the metro has expanded over the years, but not so much as to make the older maps useless.
From somebody that has spent a lot of time in this beautiful city, the Streetwise map of Paris is a welcome pedestrian companion.
- I've been to Paris many times and have used this map constantly while there. Despite it only covering the
main arrondissements, it is simple to read, has all the Metro lines well marked, & has a street index. It's durable, and tucks into a purse or bag. I also have the very large Michelin fold out map of Paris that I used in our apartment for outlying areas and very detailed items, as when I was looking for a particular shop or address on the edges of the city. For most travelers, however, this is the constant go-to map for getting around almost all parts of all arrondissements. Most tourist sights & museums are marked, as are Metro lines (color coded). Of all the folding maps this is the one I rely on time after time... my map is about 10 years old, has been well used for several trips, and is still is great condition. Highly Recommended!
