  1. This is a great map when visiting the sites of Orlando Florida. I love how it shows the locations of the various Disney hotels. Best map I have seen in any book store. The only minor downside is that this map is not updated every 2 years.

  1. Fabmap means fabric map, and that's just what it is -- an 8 by 11 inch color map on washable cloth! It's just the thing: clean your glasses, your camera lens, wipe the kid's nose; carry it around in your pocket or purse. No neurotic fits trying to fold the thing!

And it's really quite a good map: most of the island on one side, Old Town on the other. It's very attractive, easy to read, and most of the major points of interest are noted.

I have two of these -- one in my camera bag, another in a pocket. Other than the free placemat-sized maps available all over town in Key West, this is the one to have.

Marsh Muirhead - author of "Key West Explained - a guide for the traveler"

  2. This is such a clever idea that works particularly well to depict a small town/island such as Key West. This map fits into any space you have, even wadded up on your pocket. It's especially nice to be a little incognitoe and not scream "I'm a tourist" by looking at a traditional map! The only drawback is that some landmarks and places are labeled on one side (there are two maps, one small scale and one large scale on either side of the cloth) but not the other, so depending on what you're trying to locate, you might need to keep flipping from one side to the other.

  1. I like this map. It is more than what I imagined before buying.
It pictures well to the details, and it is strong by laminated process.
Beautiful and not so big for taking for trip.
Whenever I take a look at the map, I feel as if I were still traveling Florida.

  2. Have purchased Streetwise maps for every major city I've traveled to and they always help with navigation, metro systems, finding landmarks and attractions, etc. You don't look like a geek pulling out a big paper map and can plan your routes before going, refer to the map if you get lost but have always found them to be helpful/to scale. This one shows all the cities in FL to help you get your bearings from one beach to the next:)

  1. I have used Streetwise Maps alll over the world -- literally -- and they have NEVER disappointed me. Super, super accurate. Whether I plan to drive or to be on foot, I would not visit any new city (including Miami) without my Streetwise Map.

  1. This book is well written and nicely cross referenced. When it's not on my boat during a fishing trip, it stays in the throne room for good reading. The only complaint I have is that the author seems to think nearly every fish in the sea is tasty. Only a few of the fish in the book are labeled as "Poor" when it comes to food quality.

  2. I enjoyed reading each and every species entry. The author is obviously a fish enthusiast when it comes to cuisine due to the fact that 90% of the animals he lists are described at the very least as 'tasty'. The illustrations are exquisite and the descriptions for each fish type are thorough. I would recommend this book for anyone new to fishing the Gulf of Mexico.

  3. With so many restrictions and diffrent types of fish in the gulf, the last thing you want is an illegal fish. "Sport Fish of the Gulf" is on my vessel when I fish!

  4. After shopping for a book of this nature, I got tired of the book store prices and was glad when I found it at Amazon.com. Shortly after placing my order, I found it at Wal-Mart for about $7.00 more. Always Low Prices should be Amazon's slogan. Great book to own with great details such as: food quality, how to fish for, avg. size and weight etc.

  5. This book does a great job of identifying a wide range of Gulf Coast species. It's a great tool for rookie and veteran anglers alike. I've been fishing for well over 20 years and I learned a lot from reading this book. A couple of the features that I enjoyed particularly are the food value, and angling tip sections.

  1. I bought this book to learn about knots and it has been very good. Hopefully I will progress in my fishing and will get more use from the book.

  2. This book is handy to have around or in your tackle box. Gives good information on baits and rigs. The illustrations are very good and advice is sound. I recommend it for all to have as a reference book.

  3. I knew a few things, but learned a lot about different presentations for different fish and for different seasons... even different times of the day

  4. This is the best book I've ever read in my whole life. No, its not, but it is a pretty good book. Peace.

  5. I got this book for my 12 year old son who loves to fish and I can't believe I never had it myself. I have been fishing all my life and have learned lots of great things from it. The photos and illustrations are very helpful. If you know someone who likes to fish, get them this book. They will not be disappointed.

  1. This book is a must to have with you when you are fishing in the Florida Keys. We check off each different kind of fish we catch. Lots of fun.

  2. I keep it in a back pack in a ziplock bag with fishing gear on ever trip. picture and info was great too.

  3. Nice for most fish in Florida but not all....
    Saltwater and freshwater species listed.

  4. Good, well organized information. I wish all authors of fishing books were as competant as Vic Dunaway.

  5. The product was in great shape, just as promised, and showed up right on time. I would definitely buy from them again.

  1. Surely you've heard the catch-line "don't leave home without it." If you're driving down the east coast of the United States, please take that phrase to heart and don't leave home without a copy of Drive I-95. Husband and wife team Stan Posner and Sandra Phillips-Posner share their love of learning and travel with readers in this highly informative, extremely well-organized travel book that guides drivers on an exit by exit tour down I-95.

The first section of the book provides maps of I-95 from exit 12 (where it meets with I-93) in Massachusetts to the very end of the road in Coral Gables, Florida. The maps in Drive I-95 are clear and concise, just right for gleaning quick information at a glance for navigators and drivers. These handy one-page maps (no folding!) supply the reader with the exit number, gas stations, restaurants, lodging, shopping, RV service centers, drug stores, car washes, laundromats as well as nifty places to visit along the way. On these maps, the authors even let you know what the speed limit is at various sections of the road in addition to toll booths and fees, campground/RV sites, golf courses, and possible locations reported or observed as radar traps! Even with all this vital information supplied for drivers, the maps in Drive I-95 are so cleverly designed that they remain impressively easy to read on the fly.

For all the usefulness of the maps, it's the tourist information and stories provided in the rest of the book that adds charm to Drive I-95. There are 111 pages of exit-by-exit stories relating to key sites you'll drive by on your excursion. These tales are presented in a companionable style as if a friend had thoughtfully written a travel journal just for you. The authors didn't miss a chance to poke around wonderful stores or sites in order to gather all the information in this book. For example, at exit 10S in Massachusetts, readers learn all about Furlong's Cottage Candies including recommendations for the better treats. At exit 138 in North Carolina, the authors share their experiences at Gardner's Barbecue `n' Chicken, "Okay we'll admit it, we ate fried gizzards and actually like them...Don't miss the little corn sticks or the hush puppies. You can take out for a car picnic." It seems as if no detail has been left overlooked by Drive I-95, for instance the authors warn that at the Lumberton Visitors' Bureau in North Carolina there are no bathrooms in the information center but you'll find one a few doors down.

What's more, readers can't help but learn historical facts about the towns that are whizzing by. At New Jersey's exit 15W they write, "Thomas Alva Edison had two labs, one in Menlo Park and one in West Orange. It was here in 1889 that the first motion picture studio was set up." Folks might end up passing the time in the car by debating which interesting stop to make on the route: Will it be the Collingwood Library and Museum on Americanism, where you can find the lantern used to signal Paul Revere? Or the United States Patent and Trademark Office Museum? Or should you stretch your legs in Occoquan, a pleasant little town on a river? All of them are possibilities while you're driving through Virginia. You'll never have to settle for a hastily eaten fast food burger at a rest stop again!

But I've saved my favorite part of Drive I-95 for last: the flip-out chart of the radio stations you'll find along your drive. For each major city along the way, the authors considerately provide readers with the call numbers to thirteen different types of radio stations, from Jazz/Blues to Top 40, from NPR to Spanish. No more frustrating rounds of flipping through the stations in search of your listening pleasure!

Quill says: This book is a MUST HAVE for anybody planning to drive I-95!

  2. This book is a godsend to those of us who drive up and down the east coast. The information is accurate and up-to-date and makes it a breeze to find places to stop on the way. It made our recent trip so much easier.

  3. I purchased this book because we are traveling to Disney using I95. We are looking forward to following our travels using the interesting facts along the way. It looks very helpful by having the resturants and gas stations all marked for you. Thanks, Cathy Philadelphia

  4. This book is great for traveling form MA to FL. The restaurant and hotel/motel information is very valuable. It even provides rest stops. We would never make the trip without it. Soon we will be taking advantage of the side trips.

  5. I'm a brazilian traveler who is planning a trip from Miami to New York in july 2010 and Drive I-95 has been very useful in this planning. Every interesting places to know, restaurants, rest places, hotels, motels and so on. If you are about to travel through I-95 I recommend it. Have a nice trip.

  1. This atlas is not confusing. Generally each grid has the county or area within it that you are wanting information. I buy mobile homes. When the person is giving directions, I can see it on the map instantly. I highly recommend it.

  2. If you want to get off the Interstate highways, have ever wondered, "Where does that road go?", or been stuck in traffic wishing you knew an alternate route, then DeLorme Atlases are for you. They show all the back roads that a typical state map doesn't. And they provide information on campgrounds, recreation (everything from baseball and beaches to theme parks, wildlife and zoos/aquariums), and trails. Don't throw your regular state map away though because the DeLorme maps don't show which roads are 2 lane or 4 lanes or more. And the maps are not detailed enough to navigate through cities but they do show the main roads.

Unfortunately, although recently reissued, the Florida atlas is in their old format. The pages don't overlap so you have to check carefully to determine where you are when going from page to page. However, this should not keep you from buying this atlas - it is great. There are over 100 pages of maps and 24 pages of information. I used the Florida, Georgia and South Carolina atlases extensively to take a leisurely exploratory trip from the Tampa Bay area back to my home state of NC. I never take a trip without them.

  3. I often refer to several of the books in this series when planning an outdoor adventure in an unfamiliar area. for kayakers like me, they identify public boat ramps, mountain bike, and hiking trails. Your GPS may help you find the place, but the Delorme will tell you where to go.

  4. Always like the gazetteers. Best maps for the states smaller local roads and all others. Make great gifts.

  5. This detailed collection of Florida maps was a valuable add-on to the GPS unit in my car. A valuable reference when I travel.
