- I just returned from Amsterdam and found this map to be extremely helpful. I particularly liked that it was sturdy enough to bump around in my bag unscathed, small enough that it didn't require a lot of room, and concise enough to help me find my way. I highly recommend.

- We found this map really useful and easy to follow. I don't what the other reviewer means about the street names not being printed on it because they were on my copy! Where a canal has a street either side of it, both streets have the same name-really the two roads are just differnt 'lanes' of the same one, so perhaps this is what confused them. Some of the suffixes of street names are abbreviated to save space, but it is always obvious and the abbreviations are listed and translated. The map is laminated, so it survived the heavy rain better than we did. Just don't stand in any cycle lanes whilst you're reading it.
- I am on holiday in Amsterdam as I write. This is by far the best city map I have ever used. First, it is durable enough that I anticipate it will survive the entire stay. The street names are clearly indicated; the public transportation facilities are identified. Amsterdam can be a bit disorienting because it's a city build with concentric streets. North and South can be confused easily. I have found my bearings several times when I would have been lost without this map. If you are interested in finding you way about Amsterdam, this map will be interesting to you.
- The maps are actually very good. And I like the weather resistant finish (A real asset considering the climate).
But the section (map) of the trams makes it very hard to figure out or get your bearings. Fortinatly, good maps for this are easy to get, free, and well posted at every stop. However I geuss I would still say it is a pretty good value.
- I went to Amsterdam twice last year and used this map both times. It is extremly durable as I normally kept it in my left rear pocket - still good as new after two trips. I like the laminate since I can use those erasable markers used for presentations to mark landmarks or places of interest. Once done, simply wipe them off and add new ones. The main map showing Amsterdam could be just a tad larger to show areas to the east and south. Bring this map and a small compass and you won't get lost. Worth every penny.

- I haven't taken it to Germany yet. We go in June but it looks like it has a lot of roads and directions and detailed info. 100% better than Rick Steves map I also ordered.

- We just returned from an awesome Beer Tour of Belgium. I was attempting to get a map locally (In the Santa Cruz County, CA area). None to be found at any bookstore. All out. Help. Then I remembered good old Amazon. Got on line and found one and it was shipped in time to go on the trip with us. Got to spend a wonderful evening with our itinerary the day before we left finding and circling the tiny towns and big cities we were going to visit.
Many thanks

5 comments about Streetwise Brussels Map - Laminated City Street Map of Brussels, Belgium - with integrated metro map including tram lines and stations.
- Came in very handy during my 10 days in Brussels. Durable and quick to fold/unfold. Shows all the little streets, main tourist sites and hotels, although the small print can be hard to read. Includes a street index. Street names are in French only, contrary to what the previous reviewer said, but that's adequate.
Shows Metro stations as color-coded dots but doesn't explicitly show the lines connecting them, so I had to refer to a transit map initially to be certain how the Metro lines ran. However, Brussels' transit network is complex enough that you will need to carry a separate transit map anyway if you plan to use the trams or buses as well as the Metro.
The city tourist office gives out a free map of the city center that is actually easier on the eyes, but lacks a street index and doesn't show Metro stations.
- this is one of the worst maps i have ever read. the streets are printed so small it is near impossible to read, and the street index is impossible to use due to the fact that some of the streets are listed by the article and others by the first word. give yourself a break and just pick up a free map at any of the numerous tourist information boards located around the city, most notably in grand place. the only reason to get this map is if you are going to be traveling in the brussels suburbs, where the free maps do not cover.
oh, and one more thing. the easiest way to get around brussels is through their easy and free subway system. this map does not have any of the stops on it, as opposed to any of the free maps.
- This book was received in short order, in great condition, and is being used! The information may not be 2007 but for my purposes it is perfect. I will definitely order from this site again. Lorna Auld
- the free map given out by the tourist office is far better--much
easier to read
- Very nice map, especially in rainy London. Wish it were a little bigger, or wish the title box was a little smaller.

3 comments about Moleskine City Notebook Amsterdam (Moleskine City Notebook).
- Besides just being an excellent quality note book for recording your travels Moleskin includes a nice little map and indexes to organize essential information on your travels. Absolutely worth having....
- This is a very unusual product and I would strongly encourage anyone considering getting one to be completely aware of what it is before they purchase it. First, if you are looking for a single travel guide to prepare you for your trip to New York (or anywhere else there is a guide for), this is very close to worthless, if not entirely worthless. I would call one's attention to the title of the product. It is a "Notebook." That means that most of the pages are blank. This literally is a book for taking notes in.
So what do you get when you buy this? Every book in the series follows the same format. First there is a personal information page with address, phone, allergies, family doctor, passport number, then map information with public transportation maps. Then follows information on the various forms of transportation with phone numbers and websites, including cabs, buses, other forms of public transportation, and airports. There are some blank itinerary pages, measurement and speed conversion charts, size conversion charts (for shoppers), then a long series of neighborhood maps, including an index. And that's it. The final two-thirds of the notebook are blank. The next 20 or so pages are completely blank and unlined for whatever use you want to put them to. Next come several pages intended for writing down names of restaurants, bars, museums, historical sites, hotels, or whatever. The book also comes with unlabeled tabs with stickers to use as desired (for theaters, concert halls, or whatever you desire) as well as tracing paper for, as the label says, "Itineraries or Whatever." Finally, there is the usual pocket at the back that is found in all Moleskine products.
For some people this is going to be an absolutely useless product. But for many this will be remarkably useful. In fact, I can envision two uses for this notebook. First, those who are planning a trip to one of the places for which Moleskine has produced a book. Let's say one has consulted the Blue guide, the Eyewitness Guide (by DK), a Rough Guide, the Michelin guide, and the Let's Go guide. Maybe you've bought all of these, making for five guides. No way do you want to drag all of these on your trip or more than one on your flight. So what might you do? You might take the Moleskin Notebook, record into it all the places you want to see, restaurants you want to dine at, museums you want to stroll through, and anything else you want to do while in your destination of choice, and record it there. So the Moleskine City Notebook can serve as a distillation of all the various travel guides, web sites, and other resources you have consulted. And instead of hauling about a large Fodor's guide, you can carry about this small Notebook that can easily fit into a backpack, purse, should bag, or even pocket.
The only downside is that the Moleskine City Notebook is only as good as you make it. If you do a good job of planning your trip, it will be filled to the brim with useful and helpful information. If not, it will be as unhelpful as you have made it.
There is a second use to which the City Notebook can be put to use, though it is not one for which it was primarily designed. You could use it for the city in which you live, should you live in one of the cities for which one is made. I live, for instance, in Chicago. I have bought one of these so that I can over time use it to record every bit of helpful information that I might find useful or helpful. I can record what hours the Seminary Co-Op Bookstore (the real one, not the trade version on 57th Street) is open. The hours for the Chicago Public Library and the Newberry Library. Phone numbers of restaurants and addresses of bars. And so on and so forth. Granted, these books will only benefit those who live in one of those cities, but for the U.S. New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles are pretty populated areas.
So this is a very well conceived product though it absolutely has to be stressed that it is a specialized one. Please note: THIS ISN'T FOR EVERYONE. If you don't want to use the Notebook to plan your trip it is going to be very close to worthless. I'll emphasize again: this is only as good a product as you make it. But if you use it to help you plan your trip, it could be the single item you would most loathe to be without after your notebook.
- I love these little city notebooks. I can carry it in my purse on my travels and it doesn't take up much room. It has a wonderful little city map that is quite useful. I love it!

- Great pocket-sized map to carry along while exploring. Easy to read and lots of info included. Very useful. I bought one for each city I am traveling to.
- this map is great, you can mark on it and clean it off, easy to read and fold back up, used it every day for a month.
- I took this map along with us in Amsterdam, but I probably opened it twice- and both times it was in the hotel room. I generally like to memorize the areas before I travel somewhere, but this map did help with even the smaller alleys and roads that other maps just left off. However, the map is so big when it is unfolded that it makes it incredibly obvious to everyone that, yes, you are a tourist. To me, that's a sign for 'go ahead, pick-pocket me'.

5 comments about Pocket Map and Guide Amsterdam (EYEWITNESS POCKET MAP & GUIDE).
- I just returned from Amsterdam. The Pocket Map and Guide is a must have item for anyone visiting Amsterdam. It's small and convenient size allows you to keep it handy. I refered to it constantly the entire time I was there. It's index by streets allows you to quickly pinpoint your current location and route to take to your destination. The information contained in the individual area sections covers the major monuments, museums, churches, markets, and sights; plus offers good recommendations for cafes, bars, and restaurants by neighborhood. I highly recommend it and found it was the best source for finding my way around the city on foot.
- I have also purchased the larger guide book and found that the pocket guide book was useful as a companion mainly for its concise map. It did give me a quick reference for main landmarks but I think one may need the larger book to give more detailed information.
- This guide is great for 3-4 days and longer: great map, easy to use, all main attractions, opens and closes easily for quick reference. I was in amsterdam one month and used this guide more than the others i brought.
- I just took a trip to Amsterdam for Spring Break, and although I had two other guides with me, this one came in handy mostly because of the size and the map that was very helpful when we got lost in neighborhood during a downpour of rain. I've used it the most and found it easy to read. Some of the other information in there besides the map is helpful, but since it is a small pocket edition, you might wanna pick up a bigger guide. So anyway, great book!
- I bought several other pocket maps for our trip, but this was the one I used the most. Only one other was as good- and my definition of good is whether or not I can identify even the smaller roads. This one had enough detail to get us around for four days. The guide portion was interesting enough to read through, but I always do my own research on vacation destinations, so this didn't help me all that much.
It was small enough to fit in my pocket and in my very small purse. The map refolds easily. The only complaint is that it's easy to rip and had we had any serious rain, this book wouldn't have made the trip.
