1 comments about Arkansas Atlas and Gazetteer (Arkansas Atlas & Gazetteer).
- A 4.8 out of 5!
The Arkansas Atlas and Gazetteer is the Bible for outdoor activity in Arkansas, especially if you tend to leave the beaten trail behind. This is an excellent collection of maps that provide detailed data on topology and land formations. The large format pages provide better detail than most forestry maps that I have used in the past. And the book format is much easier to manage than larger flat, accordian style maps, especially when you are en-route (it includeds all of Arkansas and is much easier to fold too). This publication is a must for anyone interested in hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, hunting, or exploring Arkansas beyond the reach of highways. So why only a 4.8? Some small, barely maintained and unmaintained forestry roads are NOT on these maps. If you are not throughly famliar with the area, you better have one just in case. Better safe than sorry! Hiking trails are also NOT on the maps. Thus, -0.2 -jw

1 comments about Arkansas Rider's Guide.
- Caruso has reviewed many of Arkansas' best roads for motorcycling, or for that matter, the most scenic auto-touring get-aways in the state. His recommended places to eat is a bonus. These are one of a kind spots you won't find without a little help. I throughly enjoyed using his routes to turn a weekend ride into an adventure. I wish he would lead some tours in his beautiful state. He obviously knows the territory.

- A more detailed road map of Arkansas would be
hard to find. Very detailed has every interstate
and dirt road
- You'll be all mapped out for road and river travel in the Diamond State -- nice sights and streams previews in front sections also. If you intend an extended backwoods venture by truck, RV, or ATV this will be an essential tool. Hunters and campers will also benefit (and bird watchers, paddlers, big boaters, hikers, runners). Don't leave home without it! Jeff at ARKATENTS -- arkytents@bigfoot.com
- If you have a passenger who helps keep track of landmarks, this is a great guide. We use it for backroad traveling. But beware, you will put some miles on your vehicle.!!!
- It probably is very difficult to find a comprehensive map on Arkansas and for backroads, this is probably ok. However, be aware that this book is 13 years old and doesn't even have the airport for Northwest Arkansas on it!!
We are moving to NW Arkansas and found it difficult to use to get around during our recent tour due to age of map and growth in that area.
- This atlas is designed for back roads travel. For that it is wonderful. I wish I could get maps like these for other states. I have been using this atlas for over 10 years now. I never go to Arkansas without it.
