  1. i own many of these 10 pack movie collections and like them. this set like all of the sets has some good some bad and some that well you get the idea. sorry i don't have a list of the movies handy but if kung fu movies are your bag then these are for you. as always if good transfers are what you want look somewhere else, if not enjoy the action

  2. Includes: BLIND FIST OF BRUCE, FIST OF FEAR: TOUCH OF DEATH, KUNG FU: THE PUNCH OF DEATH, 36 CRAZY FISTS, LEGEND OF THE EIGHT SAMURAI, THE STREET FIGHTER, BLOODFIGHT, BREATHING FIRE, BLOOD OF THE DRAGON, and SHOGUN'S NINJA.

If you don't have these already, this may be worth getting. If you own a few other collections, chances are you already have several of these titles.

  3. BCIeclipse is the name of the company that started this mega-set trend with these 10 movie packs. I own many of them and love them all(well OK a few set I didn't like, but for the most part they are good)and this one is one that I love. Now don't expect great transfers or anything like that, but for less that $20.00 for 10 movies what more could you want. Great fun to be had here is cheesy Kung-Fu movies are your thing.

  4. Typical of DVD multi-packs, LEGENDS OF KUNG FU offers a mix of quality. The best of this bunch features Bruce Li, while the worst offers archive footage of his namesake. Apparently, even the ghost of Bruce Lee can't save "Fist of Fear..." from the mediocrity bin.

Sonny Chiba is featured in three of these, including a war story set in 16th Century Japan. Jackie Chan takes the director's chair for "36 Crazy Fists," a movie in which he's also listed as a "possible extra (uncredited)," yet Chan's name appears prominently on this product's front cover.

Visual clarity of BRENTWOOD box sets is average. Transfers have a multi-generational dimness to them. Certainly they are well worth the bargain price, however.

For twice the martial arts action, KUNG FU 20 MOVIE PACK is a real kick!

5 comments about Kill Bill 1 (Dol).
  1. This movie is a must see and a must have for all you Tarantino fan. This movie to overly violent and bloody. Normally I don't like movies like that. However, it ranks among one of my favorite movies.

  2. -The greatest pure action flick ever made-

This is the cinematic weapon of mass destruction, the dream girl orgie of film ecstasy, the Tiger Woods of action-driven movie mania. Kill Bill is in a class all its own, an experience like you've never witnessed before. Tarantino pays homage to many of his favorite films, directors, and genres while incorporating his own distinct style. I'll use my W.U.S.S.training (Whiteboys Understanding Samurai Sensibilities) to write my first novel.

The story is simple--a lady samurai seeks to avenge the murders of her husband and unborn child. her name is Beatrix Kiddo, aka Black Mamba. She's also referred to as The Bride, which was a character from Q & U. The plot was also inspired by the movie Lady Snowblood, an outstanding female samurai flick.

    Other obvious influences:

SAMURAI FICTION--The silhouetted warriors duel with a bright colore background. QT extends this scene drastically, and the results are amazing. This contrast of colors and swift, elegant swordplay make for an awesome visual implosion that will blow your senses away.

HARAKIRI--An undeniable gem of Asian cinema, QT draws heavily from the astounding bloody climax. The Bride fights valiantly against nearly insurmountable odds. She also scales walls and railings with impressive acrobatic agility. The choreography is utterly brilliant as the blood sprays in excess. You will not see a more exciting, dramatic melee in samurai cinema ever. Bold statement, but oh so true.

SHADOW WARRIORS--A T.V.show from the 80's starring the great samurai Hattori Hanzo. In this movie, Hanzo(played by the legendary Sonny Chiba) breaks a blood oath and crafts another deadly blade of steel.

JAPANESE ANIME--This animated sequence totally rules!!! There is some top notch artwork with unique, clever angles. Plus a plethora of blood, murder, and mayhem. Awesome.

GIALLO/DEPALMA--There is a sweet split screen sequence, ala Brian DePalma, that completely kicks butt. There are some closeup shots of the murderer approaching the comatose Bride. With the powerful sound effects blaring the tension is elevated and a dark, desperate atmosphere takes over. A nice touch.

YAKUZA--There are some Japanese mobsters sitting at a table having a meeting. I'll admit, mixing samurai and yakuza seems odd. With the gangstas packin' heat, a samurai chick might not last too long. But hey, this is an action flick, so you can't think too deep into it.

SPAGHETTI WESTERN--There's a brief scene shot in Texas. It involves tumbleweeds, a sheriff, and a bloody shootout. No Clint Eastwood though.

Now, this movie does have some questionable components. Like all the members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. Quite a ragtag group. None of them are overly convincing as deadly samurais, but still the story somehow works. QT also overdoes it with the American pop culture references (silly rabbit, Trix are for kids). They sometimes seem out of place. But still this doesn't hamper the entertainment value. All in all, it's a wonderfully shot, incredibly action packed motion picture. The 5,6,7,8's provide some perfect songs, and Wu Tang Clan does some spectacular sound effects. There's also humor, wit, great character development and dialogue, shots of womens feet--all of QT's trademark stuff. And the action sets the bar sky high.

Tarantino shows he's more than just some film geek. He's an expert at his craft.

Now, I encourage any of you, always in a respectful manner, to question my logic. I assure you, no topic will ever be taboo. Unless of course you bring up this movie as a negative. The price you pay for such an action is--I collect your freakin head!!!!!!!! Now if any of you have anything to say, now's the freakin' time.

  3. WARNING: This review contains spoilers!

Note: In my summary of the plot I have put the film's story into chronological order so that events unfold sequentially. This is not the order in which the events of the film are actually shown.

Quentin Tarantino (director of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction) has often been called one of the most violence-obsessed filmmakers in America, a title that he would occasionally protest. Now we can see why he would have objected to it, he simply hadn't earned that honor yet. But let it be known to all that Quentin Tarantino, or Q.T. as he sometimes refers to himself, is now an official auteur of the action film. His bloody kung fu saga, Kill Bill, is proof of this. Here he pays homage to his favorite exploitation films of the `70s and `80s* with the giddy enthusiasm of a teenaged fanboy.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 tells the story of The Bride, a former assassin with the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS), who is brutally attacked and left for dead during her wedding rehearsal by her ex boss/lover Bill. The Bride loses everything and everyone she cares about including her husband-to-be, her friends and her unborn child. After being shot in the head by Bill himself, The Bride sinks into a coma and awakens four whole years later. While she was comatose a hospital nurse sold her body to perverts who would have sex with her. On the day of her resurrection she kills the nurse and the creep who paid to have his way with her, thus beginning a cycle of cold bloody revenge. Her targets: Bill and every one of the Deadly Vipers. Her goal: Kill `em all. Her mission begins with a trip to Japan where she asks the legendary sword maker, Hattori Hanzo, to give her "Japanese steel". He refuses saying that he no longer makes instruments of death but when she explains that only his swords are up to the task of killing Bill, who was once Hanzo's student therefore making him partially responsible for Bill's wicked deeds, then he agrees to make her his finest sword, a katana with no equal. He also warns her that before her journey for revenge can begin that she must be sure that she will not falter no matter what. The Bride then leaves with her new weapon and prepares for an epic battle with O-Ren Ishii, a half Japanese, half Chinese, Asian American who's become the leader of a powerful yakuza crime syndicate.
When O-Ren was just a young girl she witnessed the horrible murders of her father and mother and she vowed revenge. At the age of twelve she fulfilled her desire for blood when she slew the man responsible. She quickly became one of the youngest and deadliest assassins in the world, which is why Bill took her under his wing.
After an amazing showdown with O-Ren and her sword-wielding gang, The Bride hunts down #2 on her list of people to kill, Vernita Green. The Bride and Vernita engage in vicious hand-to-hand combat (with a brief intermission when Vernita's young daughter comes home from school) before Vernita meets her doom before the eyes of her young daughter. But things are never as simple as they seem and "Revenge is never a straight line." While The Bride continues on her journey to kill Bill, we learn of a secret that may be her undoing: her daughter, the child that she believed to be dead when she was assaulted on the day of her wedding rehearsal four years earlier, is still alive and living with her daddy, Bill.

Some Tarantino fans have complained that this film is a departure from his dialogue-driven serio-comedies about charismatic criminals and lowlifes, but even as this is true Kill Bill is a definitive Tarantino film. Darkly humorous, graphically violent and as irreverent as always, his films polarize, provoke, and entertain audiences, which is why Kill Bill is quintessentially Quentin.
The film is rounded out by a terrifically diverse cast including Uma Thurman as The Bride, Lucy Liu as O-Ren Ishii, Vivica A. Fox as Vernita Green, Michael Madsen as Budd, Daryl Hannah as Elle Driver, David Carradine as Bill, and Sonny Chiba as Hattori Hanzo.

The DVD is a must-have for Tarantino fans, however be warned that a more elaborate DVD release may be on the way. Special features include the Making of Kill Bill featurette, two musical performances by the 5,6,7,8s and trailers for Tarantino's other films.

    * Here are some of the films and television shows that inspired Q.T. to make Kill Bill:
Once Upon a Time in the West
    Bruce Lee Ultimate Collection
Lone Wolf and Cub Box Set
Fox in a Box - Featuring Pam Grier
    Lady Snowblood
    Yakuza Graveyard
Charlie's Angels - The Complete First Season
    Shogun Assassin
Shadow Warriors - The Complete First Season

  4. I never really cared for action films nor did I cared for Quentin Tarantino until I saw this and other films he made. I enjoy watching this flim from begining to finish. I thought it could've done without the Anime cartoon but the rest of the movie was great and I can't believe we have to wait a decade or 2 for part 3!

  5. Kill Bill - Volume One
This is my first Quentine Tarantino film. Editing is ultimate. Wow! What Music! Uma Thurman gives a terrific performance. I knever knew Michael Madsen or Carradine at that time. Both actors were my Dad's-time-guys. But after seeing Kill Bill, I have pin-ups of Madsen in my room. Paps always used to speak of 'Reservoir Dogs', 'Jackie Brown' etc..but they were not 'my-period' films. Even Daryl Hannah! I knew her only as the 'mermaid' from 'Splash'. I saw KILL BILL on the BIG SCREEN and became hooked. Now I do not miss a single film by Tarantino.

5 comments about Karate Bearfighter - Kenka Karate Kyokushin Buraiken.
  1. I am a Black Belt in Kyokushin, and was a student of Mas Oyama in Japan. I wish one day Japanese movie production would make a TRUE BIOGRAPHY Film about Mas Oyama. Not Fiction movie like this one, may be 10% based on true Mas Oyama's life. He deserve to have a better, REAL biography film. The korean film "Fighter in the Wind" is another one that I did not like since it is not an accurate biography. It has too much of a prejudice view by the Koreans. Mas Oyama only konws the true story.....It is BEST to read a book written by Mas Oyama himself, rather than watching fiction entertaiment movies. OSU~!

  2. Was wrong DVD I received at the beggining than after contacting and sending back the wrong DVD received the correct one.
    Satisfy service.
    Thanks

  3. What starts off as a pretty good movie turns ridiculous. It is sad because it didn't have to. You will notice with these Sonny Chiba movies that they are not super low budget like most chinese and taiwanese kung fu films. The fights are all good but the bear fight was just horrible. They had like a weird robot and then a guy in a bear suit for some the time. I want to know why they didn't actually at least show a real bear. It was unbearable!

This movie is kind of the same as bull fighter and has most of the same actors. But all Chiba films do that. So again he is an outkast and nobody would ever except his challenge because their dojos are for respectable karate masters. So he ends up showing off again, at least in evreybody's eyes. So again all the fights are good but I don't think that when a bear dies he keeps getting up and falling down.

The DVD picture quality is really good but does have some horizantal lines during the movie. Not very noticeable overall though. Sound is also very good. And remember that when fighting a bear you have to use that special move of jumping over him and kicking him.

Also look out for a cameo in the credits by the real Mas Oyamo that Chiba is portraying in this trilogy.

  4. It's funny how movie trailers can really throw off a film. If you ever seen karate bearfighter movie trailer, you will think it is a lame movie. In conclusion, it is probably the best oyama trilogy film i have ever seen.

The fight scenes in this feature is incredible. Sonny chiba fights some of the most top fighters in this film. The action fights are well directed. The backdrops in this film is spectacular. I have to always commend on sonny chiba's acting abilities. Sonny really shows the audience true emotion besides fighting.

If you have not seen this film, and dont know what it is about let me share a little note on what this film summerizes. As you know,if you have been keeping up with the series of oyama, then you know that he has a history of beating karate fighters up, and also luckly beating a live bull. The story basically kicks off when oyama decides to give up karate, and become a bouncer for a old time buddy. When things went sour, he quits and flees to the county side where he gets involved in a boys abbusive life stlye.Due to unfortunate circumstances, the young boys father gets hurt bad on the job, and has no mediacal insurance. Oyama is asked by some underground thugs to fight a live bear. If oyama wins, he receives big money and can use that money to pay the medical bill.

When oyama succesfully beats the bear, he is then given an invitation to fight a karate fighter seeking revenge on him. The karate figher's brother however was paralyze by oyama in a fight before he fleed to the country.

The last fight is kind of short but it is good. I recomend you get this film. If you have not seen or ever watched the oyama trilogy, by all means check this one out. Also, the picture quality put out by adness is top notch. Great widescreen remastering.

  5. Well worth your money, very entertaining. Not only will you see a man take down a bear, he will also take down a crazy American GI.

  1. More than a decade ago I found a VHS copy of "Sonny Chiba - Bodyguard" at my local video store. My fascination with this crude japanese fighter is still a bit of a mystery for me....some 14 years later. "The Bodyguard"'s plot is a bit hard to follow, the fights lack Bruce Lee's agility but still there is magic in the air. There is something about Sonny Chiba that sets him apart from all others: He has a style of his own and hence his charm. I've been waiting for this particular movie to be released on DVD for quite some time and therefore I was very happy to find it out one bright day at a special price (not to mention the double feature). This is a widescreen presentation...of some sort. The sound quality is considerably good (I know the original copy doesn't have a magnificent soundtrack) and the picture quality is the best I've seen (again, considering how old this movie is and what kind of cameras were used to shoot it). I think this DVD is a good way to get to know Sonny Chiba and for those of us who already know the guy and his work (the "streetfighter" series in particular) - here's a rare classic that is well worth your time and money.

  1. This is a great movie on the life of the greatest Karate master who ever lived, Mas. Oyama. Oyama created the powerful "Kyokushin" style of Karate in the 1950's and it is popular around the world today as a real fighting Karate style. Sonny Chiba(who was a real life student of Oyama) really did a great job portraying his mentor in this entire triology series. The other two films are "Karate Bearfighter" and "Karate For Life", also available here at Amazon. Highly recommended!

  2. I was so dissapointed with these ridiculous films (series) made by a Japanese large famous movie studio TOEI. I am a Japanese, and I have black belt in Kyokushin. I was a Oyama's student. So, I bought these movie series, and watched them. What a cheap crap movies~! if you really want to see Mas Oyama's Karate, buy one from Media 8. Do not wast time and money on these movies. OSU~!

  1. I have enjoyed all the Patlabors that have come to DVD. My only complaint with this one is, the last episode of this DVD is continued on the next one, and guess what, there is no announced date as to when volume 3 will be released. So my advice is wait until they announce the next one or even wait until it is available or you will really have a cliff hanger.
Good news Central Park Media has announced on their internet site a Nov 4 pre-release date for retailers and a Dec 2 public release. The cliff hanger may finally come to an end.

  1. Sonny Chiba is back and killing more bed guys in gory ways in STREETFIGHTER movie 3. It is some wath more violent and notorious then part 2, but has less more then wath the first one has. It has more point and less taste then the other 2, but is more serious then 2. Part 3 finds our man Terry Tsuguri, is working for yet an other evil mob boss. But win the job is done, he gets double crossed (aging) and not only is that bad, his new girlfriend double cross him (but has sex with him first) and it is not long before the hitting, blood spurting, throat ripping, skull smashing action stars. You got to love these movies, well only if you were a 49 year old mother or a little who vomits win ever he sees blood you will not like it. Chiba was said to have became a monk win he was done with this film, but has been in many other films like the none STREETFIGHTER movie SISTER STREETFIGHTER (1976) as a guy named Sonny, Toho's old odd ball sci-fi film for kids called INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MAN (1962) and is said to bee working on a new film named KILL BILL by Quentin Tarantion (who is a fan of his).

    1979. New Line. 80 MINS.

Rated R for Strong Action Violence, Brief Language and Some Sexuality.

  2. In order to take the series in a new direction, the film makers dropped the rough and tough street fighter motif in favor of some really bad 007 and "Mission: Impossible" stuff.

The simple plot starts when Chiba gets double crossed by some drug dealers who need two audio tapes in order to create cheap synthetic heroin. He also gets mixed up with a corrupt District Attorney, who kicks Chiba bootay thanks to an ancient Korean martial arts technique. The D.A. is also playing both sides of the fence, and Chiba and D.A. end up bedding one of the hottie girl villianesses. A final showdown between the D.A. and Chiba is good, and an explosive finale kills a major character.

Chiba dons a mask not once but THREE different times, pulling it off like a poor man's Martin Landau. He also has a secret room in his apartment, and sleeps with the villainess. All I could wonder was "what happened to the street fighter?" Instead, Chiba wears diguises from which his identity is discovered anyway. At one point, he has two giant suitcases of money as payment for the heroin recipe tapes. He sleeps with the villainess, who distracts him long enough for the suitcases to be stolen. Did Chiba hide the money elsewhere, knowing the villainess' plan? Did he booby trap the suitcases, knowing the henchmen would be after them? No! Now he has to get the money back again. For an international hitman, scrappy street smart karate expert, and champion of justice, he sure does some stupid things in this film. By the time the Bond-like villain shows up (a guy in a sombrero with lasers hidden up the sleeves of his bull fighting uniform) the film had lost me. A subplot involving an answering service girl who has a crush on Chiba goes nowhere.

This was the last "Street Fighter" entry with Chiba as the main star, but it was followed by the last film of the series: "Sister Street Fighter." Either way, this is by far the worst of the first three films. I cannot recommend it.

This was Japanese dubbed into English and rated (R) for strong physical violence, strong gun violence, gore, some profanity, female nudity, and sexual content.

  3. Absolutely one of the best films I have ever seen. I watch it often and still enjoy it.

  4. The third insallmenet in the Street Fighter trilogy has the best plot yet. A gang of mobsters wants a formula for synthetic hieroin. The gang double crosses Terry (big mistake), murders his girlfriend(bigger mistake) and fails to kill him(biggest mistake). So as expected Terry goes after them and gets his revenge. The gang realizes too late it is bad for one's health to ... off Terry Tsurugi. I liked the action even though I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen after they killed his girlfriend. The action was cool and brutal. I recomend this as well as the first two, Street Fighter and Return of the Street Fighter, wheather you are a fan of Bruce Lee or Sonny Chiba.

  5. IN THE FINAL MOVIE OF THE ''STREET FIGHTER'' SERIES, SONNY CHIBA RETURNS AS TERRY SURUGI TO PROTECT A SET OF TAPES THAT CONTAINS A FORMULA FOR MAKING HEROIN. BUT A DRUG CARTEL ALSO WANTS THOSE TAPES, AND THEY'LL STOP AT NOTHING TO GET THEM. BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER ''SISTER STREETFIGHTER'', THAT'S THE ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS FINALE. THOUGH THERE ARE STILL GOOD FIGHTS, THE STORY IS WEAK, SONNY'S CHARACTER HAS GOTTEN SOFT, AND IT'S TOO SLOW MOVING AT TIMES. WELL, IN MY OPINION, SONNY CHIBA DESERVED A MUCH BETTER WAY TO GO OUT IN THE LAST MOVIE OF THE SERIES THAT HE WILL BE REMEMBERED MOST FOR.
