5 comments about Walker, Texas Ranger - The First Season.
- Walker Texas Ranger . This is a great DVD collection karate kicking beatin up on the drug lords and the rest of the bad guys . This DVD is great family entertainment . Its too bad they don't have more of these types of shows .
- It's fashionable these days, I suppose, to scoff at a television show like Walker - Texas Ranger because it promoted traditional values.
I suppose that following the exploits of Paris Hilton or Britney Spears is far more "hip".
But Walker - Texas Ranger had a very successful 9 year run, despite the fact that the critics universally panned it for its one dimensional characters (the "good guys" really were good guys and they always triumphed in the end), the network buried it in a Saturday night slot (traditionally the dead zone for a televsion show)and did nothing to promote it.
But the viewing public watched and enjoyed it for a very long time because each week, you were the recipient of a good story with a very likeable cast of characters led, of couse, by the title character Cordell Walker Texas Ranger.
Each week, Walker,a Texas Ranger cut in the mold of John Wayne, successfully used his investigative and martial arts skills to bring down the bad guys, who were engaged in everything from drugs to good old fashioned cattle rustling in modern-day Texas.
OK - so the guy isn't Lawrence Olivier in terms of his acting ability and the diversity / range of emotions he was required to convey each episode. But he was very, very believable as a resolute and unstoppable force of justice and fair play.
Walker was ably assisted by a supporting cast including Jimmy Trivette, an ex-Dallas Cowboys football player, who turned in his helmet for a badge, Alex Cahill, an assistant district attorney, who provided the love interest for Walker in the latter seasons and CD Parker, an retired Texas Ranger, whose watering hole was the favorite haunt of Walker, Trivette and Cahill in their off-hours. Sadly Noble Winningham (CD Parker) died of cancer during the run of the show.
The show oftentimes was a platform for a number of different issues that Chuck Norris was personally involved in, primarily the fight against drugs and providing healthier lifestyle choices for younger kids who were at risk.
It's easy to be a cynic and laugh at the show's efforts to address these issues. But I'll give Chuck Norris and the producers of the show full marks for not caving in to the critics and trying to create something alittle more "fashionable" just to appease them.
The fact is that the show lasted 9 seasons, a long run by television standards so there must have been alot of very "unfashionable, unhip" people who were very appreciative of a show which promoted the types of values that it did.
Thanks Chuck and cast for a alot of enjoyment watching this great series.
And thans to CBS Video for releasing this series on DVD - I own every season released so far and have spent countless hours enjoying these episodes all over again.
- In the early 90's, the ever popular martial arts master and action movie star Chuck Norris was not getting many offers for movies. An idea sparked in someone's mind, and Norris was offered the title role for a show called "Walker Texas Ranger", he accepted it, and an entirely new legend was born. This show is most likely what makes Norris best known to today's modern audience. I do not see this show as silly, or stupid, or so dumb that it's good, or anything like that. I sincerely, genuinely, and truthfully see it as a great show. The plots are original and imaginitive. This show also starred Sheree J. Wilson as Assistant District Attorney Alex Cahill, Clarence Gilyard Jr. as Sergeant James Trivette, (Walker's partner in the Texas Rangers), and last but not least, Noble Willingham as C.D. Parker, whose bar was a common meetingplace for the main cast. I am now officially debunking the endless theories that every episode contains the same elements - Alex, Walker, Trivette, or C.D. is kidnapped, Walker transforms into legendary Texas Ranger Hayes Cooper, etc. First of all, in many of the episodes, Alex is not kidnapped, not to mention that she sometimes is barely even if not at all in the episode. Second, Hayes Cooper does not appear until the second season (actually the third season). Do not judge this show by what you have heard from others. Believe me when I say that the show is one-of-a-kind, and it is truly awesome in every way. When you do watch it, if you're like me, you will be bending your ear to every line for one of those well known Chuck-isms, such as "If I wanted a confession, I'd beat it out of you." Great storytelling, acting, and action is what made this show what it is. Don't miss it! Below is a list of episodes included in this seven-disc DVD set.

THIS REVIEW IS DEDICATED TO ANYONE, LIVING OR DEAD, INVOLVED IN THE MAKING OF "WALKER TEXAS RANGER".
- Walker is totally awesome. I love this show and had to have these. They have some of my favorite shows on them.
- I was surprised at the language and story lines in the first season. Not what I expected and not what I wanted my 10 year old to watch. However that being said the few shows I watched were solid Chuck Norris. I only rated it low to bring attention to the PG rating not displayed in the ad.

5 comments about The One (Special Edition).
- Jet Li possesses incredible martial art skills but outside of being a vehicle to demonstrate his prowess, "The One" is a ridiculous action fantasy. Besides some decent special effects and a good musical score. the film has few redeeming qualities.
The premise of the movie is that there are multiple parallel universes called multiverses. Travel is prohibited between them and is policed by an authority called the MVA. Li, a former MVA agent Gabriel Yulaw killed another version of himself on a different universe, in the line of duty and discovered an increase in his strength. He then proceeded to destroy an additional 122 versions of himself in other universes, each time increasing his strength, with the goal of becoming the supreme being ("the one").
The last survivng version of Li is Los Angeles sheriff's deputy, Gabe Law, who also has become more powerful. Yulaw travels to L.A. to eliminate the last version of himself, a formidible adversary. He is being pursued by MVA agents played by Delroy Lindo and Jason Stratham who are commissioned to stop him. It is postulated that the destruction of deputy Law will upset the workings of the universe or make Yulaw totally invulnerable.
- For a Jet Li movie, The One is most original, blending martial arts with a sci-fi environment and matrix-like effects. The idea is great, and you may fall in love with "the idea" more than the movie itself. Unfortunately, despite the martial arts, The One executes itself too poorly.
The most memorable element of the film is that there are 2 Jet Li's. Well, 123 to be exact from 123 different universes, but it comes down to the last 2, and the "evil" Jet Li charcater is obsessed with becoming "the one". If he kills off the good Jet Li character, he will become invincibly powerful, though he is nearly there. Near the end, the final fight is good Li vs bad, a decent fight that lasts 7 minutes, but uses the matrix like effects in the fight poorly. They kinda look cool at first, but if you get too much into it visually, it just looks pretty weak and breaks up the flow of the martial arts styles throughout the fight.
I have to say the rest of the cast is pretty dull, except maybe Delroy Lindo and Jason Statham, who play 2 agents from the alternate universe trying to stop the evil Li character. For Jason Statham fans, he's got a pretty large role in The One, but don't expect his character to know how to fight like in the Transporter movies.
The acting is rather weak too, and again, the movie relies a lot off of visual effects, and most just don't do the justice if you have seen the matrix one too many times. There is a scene where the evil Li character picks up 2 motorcycles and knocks around some cops with them, that actually looked pretty neat.
The originality of this movie, the martial arts, and the good Jet Li vs bad Jet Li still give this movie a 4 stars. I absoultely loved this movie when it first came out, because I thought oh who cool this is for Jet Li. Its pretty cool, but don't go watching this in too much detail or you'll ruin the experience.
- I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from the edge of my seat! I want a part two! I want more! The soundtrack rocked, the story rocked, the actors rocked! This movie totally rocked, man! A must have for any collector of the Science Fiction movie genre.
By the way, this was the first movie I ever saw Jet Li in. I am now a huge fan of his and not just because I weigh close to 300 pounds.
- When I first saw `The One' on VHS is was introduced with its own trailer. Thank goodness, otherwise we'd never figure out the plot from the disconnected screenplay.
`The One' is an interesting concept which combines everything we loved about `The Terminator', `Time Cop,' `The Matrix,' `Sliders' and more. Just like `Sliders' technology has made it possible to travel between alternate universes. Super criminal Jet Li illegally travels from universe to universe with the sole purpose of murdering himself so he can be the one Jet Li.
Hot on his trail are supercops Delroy Lindo and Jason Statham (with a bad American accent).
The idea of sci-fi and Jet Li as both hero and villain is intriguing.
However `The One' falls short of its goal due to several road blocks.
Poor dialogue. The disconnected screenplay has characters doing and saying things which make no sense and add nothing to further the story. All the characters seem rather calm even though they are fighting for their lives.
Characters' actions make no sense. As with the dialogue it becomes lost as we see characters drift from scene to scene without purpose or awareness. For example the LAPD Jet Li after witnessing a climatic shootout with himself, simply returns home to his wife Carla Gugino as if it is a normal day. You'd think the police would want each of their officers to provide a statement and the shootout would be headline news. Later Li goes to the hospital for a brain scan where at least 5 of his fellow officers go to hangout for no reason.
Lindo and Statham also have a pointless existence as they have been hunting Li for 2 years and have witnessed his incredible feats. Yet they calmly ask Li to drop his gun and put his hands on his head. Since Li can dodge bullets, you'd think these two would have realized he's not coming quietly.
Bad casting. While Li is a martial arts legend his broken English makes it impossible for us to see him as the good husband cop. The over use of `Matrix' style fight sequences with computer animation negate Li's use of martial arts which makes us question why Li was cast at all.
Lindo and Statham come off like Laurel and Hardy as they too seem to take their roles as if they were mere delivery men.
`The One' does have some good sci-fi and fight sequences in the beginning but it carries too much baggage which prevents us from enjoying it, thanks to B gen-x director James Wong.
- My son had been looking for this video for a long time. Thank you for your promptness in sending the video. To date he has not viewed the video, but if problems occur, I will let you know.

5 comments about Urban Justice.
- Under Siege this isn't. But for a low budget direct to video movie it isn't bad either. Seagal could stand to lay off the Ho-Ho's for awhile and get a gym membership, but if you can admit this isn't the same Seagal you saw twenty years ago, it's a good movie.
- I like Steven Seagal's movies and he was great actor. This movie was making another his performance. His acting was very excellent and his voice was good too. The story was good. My favorite star.
- After the truly awful direct-to-dvd films that Seagal has produced in recent years, he has finally given fans a decent film. I'll stop short of calling it a comeback, but hope that it's the start of some better quality productions. There are no surprises in this plot. As usual Seagal is some sort of mysterious guy with some sort of secret background that gives him fighting and weapons skills as well as experience in high-tech surveillance. While nowhere near Oscar standard, the acting was better than in previous Seagal films. Also improved was the general film and production quality. Recent Seagal films have suffered from terrible sound and picture quality. Another improvement is Seagal's speaking. In his last several films Seagal often mumbled his lines. Finally I appreciated the lack of spiritual and metaphysical mumbo jumbo that Seagal has tried to incorporate into recent films. Urban Justice has some decent action/fighting scenes. While the fighting scenes still are not as good as the Above the Law/Out for Justice days, they are also improved over recent years. I really hated the super slow motion then sped up fight sequence of recent years. The scenes in Urban Justice are more realistic and appear to be filmed at normal speed. I've rated Urban Justice 3 stars. It's far from his best film but equally far from his worst.
- Some say Don E. FauntLeRoy's 2007 action film "Urban Justice" is a comeback for Steven Seagal. The fact is, it is, and it is not. It depends on what you expect from this violent but solid action film. If you are looking for some action-packed, big budget film like "Under Siege," you will be disappointed. Still, after watching a string of terrible films (especially "Attack Force" and "Flight of Fury"), "Urban Justice" is surprisingly entertaining.
Steven Seagal is "Simon Ballister" whose son (a good police officer) has been recently killed. We don't know much about Simon, but we know he is unstoppable one-man army. Nobody should mess with Simon who insists he wants only the shooter, not the one who ordered the killing while breaking bones and snapping necks of every guy who stands in his way.
I know how simple and ridiculous this story could be, but ridiculous as it is, simple story worked in his earlier films like "Marked for Death." Perhaps Seagal has realized that too. He stopped talking about conservation of natural environment or preaching the philosophy of Zen. Instead our laconic, wooden-faced hero is given a chance or two to be humorous. Don't miss one scene, where Seagal's Simon reveals the secret about how he mastered martial arts.
"Urban Justice" is a low-budget B-action film slightly better than average direct-to-video films. There is one decent car chase and several shoot-outs, but some scenes are too dark, and martial arts action scenes are all made with choppy editing faster than Seagal's punches. The camera, often inexplicably lopsided, also fails to show what is really going on. This is not a great film, but much better than his recent direct-to-video flicks.
- 'Urban Justice' is Steven Seagal's long awaited return to the old style of his action movies. While not perfect, it is light years better than 'Attack Force' which was the last straw. I believe Mr. Seagal got the damaging message from a multiplicity of his disgruntled fans, and has turned things around for the better!
Keep up the fine work Mr. Seagal!

5 comments about Drunken Master.
- This flick does have some things going for it that no others, at the time, did. They include a unique approach and creative training/fight choreography with a new and fictitious chapter in the life of the very real and legendary Wong Fei Hung. Unfortunately, they also include unwatchably agonizing humor and snail-paced fight scenes... even the final one. Hwang Jang Lee is pretty good as the main villain, and the last fight is the best of the movie, but is still very ssssllllowwww.
Some of my criticisms may be unwarrantable. I've seen a lot of old kung fu movies that swiped a lot of things from this one. Simon Yuen's portrayal of the crabby old master has been re-used ad nauseam, often by him. This is certainly a stepping-stone in the evolution of kung fu cinema, and for that alone it's worth a viewing. Otherwise I would avoid it. Jackie himself used this formula, sans alcohol, for most of his films that followed this, like "Fearless Hyaena", which for some reason, I liked a lot more.
The picture has been remastered and is very good. The dubbing feature is poor and will switch to Cantonese every once in a while, but it really makes no difference. If you want really cool drunken kung fu, check out the 1994 sequel.

Drunken Master 1978
Cast: Jackie Chan, Simon Yuen Siu Tin, Hwang Jang Lee, Dean Shek Tien
Director: Yuen Woo Ping
Writer: Hsiao Lung
This picture directed by the famed fighting choreographer Yuen Woo Ping is one of the best kung fu comedy today. It includes Jackie Chan and one of my personal hero's in the old school martial arts Simon Yuen Siu Tin. He Is the original master in these movies for example Blind fist of Bruce. One of my favorite movies by the Bruce lee clones. This is one of Yuen first directing jobs before he was commissioned bye American fat heads to try to liven up there garbage with his flawless fight choreography skills.
This Jackie' take on the Canton born Chinese hero Wong Fei Hong. Movies before this about legendary Wong Fei Hong who was a master in the Hung Gar Boxing were very traditional in terms of keeping the already legendary persona of traditional film. Cantonese entertainment depicted him sense the turn of the century. Jet Li did wonder rendition of Wong in film produce by Tsui Hark called Ounce Upon a time in China. After seeing the success of this film Jackie decided to make Drunken Master 2 to show he was the best at there depiction of Wong. This is the original and you can almost feel it. However there is only and difference he plays it for laughs. This is probable the first films which depicted Wong Fei Hong like a misfit who doesn't fit in. Beware this version is cut however as stated in the commentary this is a version brought straight from Hong Kong? (Or it could be that the tryed to Americanize it)Bastards. So to see the films in its whole entirety you will have to go else were. To next reason why you should by this is the commentary, which by itself stands alone. There's Ric Meyers, the author Great Martial Arts Movies from Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan, and Jeff Yang the co-author of I am Jackie Chan My Life in Action. I'm actually a big fan Ric Meyers and value his opinions and views.
- this is one of the best movies but its rated pg 13 not r i own this movie and
it says pg 13
- Jackie Chan plays a talented young kung-fu artist whose overconfidence and disrespect results in his tutelage under the sadistic master of drunken kung-fu. He improves his style, becomes a better person, and defeats a villainous assassin who has been sent to kill his father. There is really nothing to recommend in this ultra low-budget film other than the excellent work of the kung-fu fighters and Jackie Chan's charisma, but that's plenty. You'll have to endure the creaky, clichéd plot at time, but never fear--there's always another fight coming.
- A high school student recommended I check out this dvd to learn a little bit more about Kung Fu. I'm glad I did.
As a dance teacher, I enjoyed Jackie Chan's and the other performers' technical skill, strength, style, humor, beauty of motion, and the similarity between this martial art form and dance.

5 comments about Rush Hour 3 [Blu-ray].
- Of the 3 Rush Hours, this was quite a dissapointment. 75 percent of it was extremly slow. Just didnt care about any of the characters after the first 15 minutes. Didnt even care about Lee or Carter after awhile. Rush Hour 1 and 2 were much more enjoyable. They had laughs and fun. This one didnt. the last 15 min were probably the best part. Especially because it was ending! Pass on this one everyone
- That's about all I have to say about this piece of garbage. Oh, one more thing: Chris Tucker is awful; he is so lucky that the Rush Hour movies exist, since he does nothing else.
- ...tedious and not fun. I liked the first 2. This one was just seriously boring. It seems they lost their chemistry. The novelty wore off pretty much in the second one. Chris Tucker's character is just as annoying as before, although, he was bearable in the first two. This one was a whole new level of annoyance. Jackie Chan seemed tired. He really should quit making these movies. Don't get me wrong, I like Jackie Chan. I think he is extremely talented and really brings alot to action movies. But, when paired with someone who doesn't support him on screen, he loses that appeal.
My suggestion is to pass on this one and remember the Rush Hours for what they were. New, entertaining.
- I love this movie. It is the best Rush Hour movie made. It is so funny. My husband and I could not wait for it to be released on DVD. The ending is suprising also. You could find it cheaper somewhere else, but worth it.
- This is a far cry from the first successful opus, and further the previous success of Eddy Murphy. The story is bland, ultra-conventional and impossible to believe. The sub-zero degree of culture is achieved by the laudatory comments of the French popular papers "Journal du Dimanche" and "Parisien" that qualify this disaster, the back of the jacket of the DVD, "hilarious" and very funny".
Furthermore, if this kind of American cinema had some finesse, he would have been able to make fun of French with intelligence. The criticism of France through the Atlanticist recurring themes of cowardice - our banned sacrifice in Iraq is still difficult to be understood the hawks bushists is vulgar and stupid.
No-sense screenplay, actors alongside the game, total lack of humour, caricature of the American subculture: 0

5 comments about Ichi the Killer (Unrated Edition).
- Takashi Miike has single handedly revitalized my interest in film. From start to finish this movie will keep your eyes glued to the screen.
there are multiple Yakuza factions sharing territoy throughout the city. when the leader of the Anjo gang(along with all their money) disappears things are bound to get crazy, and believe me, they do.
most of the characters are far from believable, the line between pleasure and pain is severely blurred for many characters. everything and everyone about this universe is just so extreme and depraved you cant help but watch, dying to see what happens next.
Ichi isnt fully revealed until about 40 minutes into the movie. the first half is spent watching Kakihara(cover art) trying to discover the cause of his bosses disappearance. not that its any less entertaining. i actually prefer the first half of the movie over the second.
Kakihara is one interesting character. maybe the most extreme sado masochist ever put on film. he is ruthless, and seemingly crazy, but he has greater understanding of himself and what he does than anyone else in the movie.
Ichi is simply insane. he is very quiet and shy normally, but when he gets angy enough, he cant resist the urge to kill. he quickly becomes an unstoppable killing machine when he dawns his costume with the number 1 on his back. (ichi is japanese for 1)
This movie is filled with things that will probably offend most movie-goers. Torture, rape, and self-mutilation just to name a few. not to mention gallons and gallons of blood and severed limbs/organs.
from the very interesting characters all around(esp. Kakihara, he's just too cool) to the interesting cinematography with enough effects to satisfy any gorehound this movie simply must be seen (5/5)
- You get the point - violence, real gore & a lot of blood. It's a masterpiece about the total opposite of "normality"
- Wild. Wild. WILD!!!!
Takashi Miike influenced Tarantino and Rodriguez. See why.
- Rate this triple GGG--G for gore.
Of course, GGG is not a rating; just as XXX is not a rating.) With a XXX film you know what you are getting. You know what you will be fast-forwarding through and fast-forwarding to. Will that happen with this GGG film? Will you fast forward through this warring gang film with its blond, split-cheek, half-tongue pyschopath antagonist and its traumatized, weeping, killing-machine pyschopath protagonist just to get to the gore?
And what hardcore gore: what face-off, split-down-the-middle, big-a** fishhook-boiling-oil torture gore.
I grow (not prudish) but squeamish.
- I don't understand the hype about this move with all these positive reviews. This is one senseless Japanese stuff which is not enjoyable in any way. The DVD transfer is poor or may be this is the best they could get. Not even worth a rental. I regret wasting my money on it.

5 comments about Street Fighter -- Collector's Edition.
- By no means is this a good movie, but for a mindless action flick it is not too bad. There is a bunch of over action and groan outloud lines, but at the end of the movie you don't feel robbed in anyway. There are some really fun moments, on-liners, and some of the fighting is not done that bad.
Sad note this is still a bare-bones DVD, just the movie and nothing else. You wished for maybe getting Van Dam to do some commentary or something by now.
- man i tell you.i see alot of problems in this movie.
i can make a better street figher.thats to whoever produced this movie and directed this movie.
- This is an entertaining live-action comic book and based on the source material, the cast is borderline good. Raul Julia, Wes Studi and Van Damme were all casted well. It has good sets, exotic locales and comedy. The film is more of an action comedy than anything. May I add that I liked Guile more here than I did in the game. Not quite up to the funny entertainment or quality par of say Live & Let Die or It's a Mad Mad Mad World but it was better then some claimed, and some people just should not watch these types of films. I feel sorry for film based some of these public judgements of the film so i'm adding another star. Its refreshing to see these older types of adventure/comic book serials without the use of dreaded CGI (I'll take Street Fighter over Spiderman any day). Van Damme is the man but not quite on Chuck Norris' caliber in terms of hip factor, skill and gritty manliness. I got to add that I do like this film more than I did when I first saw it as a lad. One of the few movies that seems better now than it did.
- I still think they should have stuck more to the video game. Some of the costumes are off but it was still an Okay flick. Would recommend but only to those that can enjoy the concept of the game.
- I used to watch this movie a lot. In 1994, I was thirteen years old. And you know what that means. To paraphrase Christopher Walken, that means I had a fever. And the only prescription... was Street Fighter II (the video game, not the movie; durr). While I was truthfully more in the Mortal Kombat camp, I did love Street Fighter II and played it regularly. I knew all the characters, their background stories, the moves, etc. Then it was announced that a movie would be made. Totally awesome, dude!
"Worker ants scurrying about with their pitiful weapons! Afraid of the purity of un-armed combat!"
I'm pretty sure the only video game based movie made before this was Super Mario Bros. in '93; Double Dragon was released a year later (along with this one). Video game movies weren't off to what the common man would call a great start. But it's Street Fighter, man! It's gonna rule! And I still think the trailer makes it look like a tasty action flick.
So, I went to see it. Came out of the theater and didn't really feel one way or the other about it. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Bad guys were good guys and good guys were bad guys. Bison was a wimp. This guy didn't do this move and that guy didn't do that move. Whatever. Came out on video and I watched it a few times just because it was Street Fighter. It was something for my 13-year-old self to watch. Nothing more, really. I eventually kind of forgot about it and didn't watch it for years (due to what Tibetan monks refer to as "growing up").
Last week, I was feeling nostalgic and ordered it off Amazon for the heck of it. Good price and it's a Collector's Edition. Why not? Watched it earlier and I find myself more critical than I was fourteen years ago. Bad lines. REALLY bad dubbing in spots. Some of the fights are kind of lame. Bison's still a wimp. Overall a fairly amateur movie (though few movies will ever de-throne Mortal Kombat Annihilation for all-time most amateur). But by God, whether intentional or not, this movie is kind of funny! How over the top is Raul Julia here? He's a blast to watch.
"This? This is merely super conductor electromagnetism. Surely you've heard of it. It levitates bullet trains from Tokyo to Osaka. It levitates my desk where I ride the saddle of the world. And it levitates... me. NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!"
Right on, Raul. Despite the critical bashings this movie got, you were the diamond in the rough. RIP, dude.
Van Damme's okay as Guile. "Are you mon enough to faaight vith me?" Yeah, he's American to the core (or should I say Corps?). Guile is the main hero, but Chun Li is my favorite good guy here.
"That's great news, General! Congratulations!"
"On the contrary, I mourn him."
"Okay."
My peers thought this movie was corny in 1994 and they were right. But, if you're in my age bracket and liked Street Fighter, it's worth watching again for the nostalgia factor and Raul Julia.
"General Bison is a bad guy? If you know this, then why do you serve him?"
"Because he payed me a freaking FORTUNE, you moron!"
"... You got... paid?"
Recommended.

- This has been very enjoyable for my husband and son---both of whom are Chuck Norris fans. They are happy that they now own the serties.
- I really enjoyed the 3rd Season Collection. I have been a fan of the show for a long time, and I can't wait for the other ones to be released. Watching it on DVD is great, because you see some scenes in the episodes that were cut out because of commercials. The quality of the DVD's are real clear and sharp. I recommend this set and all the other ones too.
- Walker Texas ranger is getting better every season. Family show, but also a learning curb for all. Episodes relate to everyday issues.
- I have the two seasons that were released prior to this one. I love actionseries on television. I was very happy when I found out that Chuck Norris was going to star in a television series that not only had action, but heart. I am going to get the other seasons of the series as they become available. If you are an action fan, this series is for you!
- The product came in excellent condition and delivered on time. Would recommend to a friend.

- I like this movie alot. I remember catching this on HBO(of course) while staying home sick from school one day(knowing me, I probably wasn't actually sick, but that's beside the point). Glancing at the box cover, it's easy to mentally shelve this away alongside movies like American Ninja 4 or anything with Don "The Dragon" Wilson. Make no mistake about it though, while this may be a bit formulaic, it's does stand out. The plot is an often told tale of outsider who teaches misfit kids self respect and fair play. In this case, it's Mark Dacascos teaching Capoeira. Capoeira is a martial art from Brazil that seems to consist of a lot of spinning kicks. It almost looks like a dance of sorts(I think it is actually). I'm not an expert on martial arts by any means, but this style is fascinating to watch and the movie takes every opportunity to showcase it. That's a good thing too, coz this particular style isn't really shown in movies. Well, Dacascos teaches this style to the kids as part of a new unofficial high school program, and it becomes a hit not only with the students, but with the school and community. Now comes the Van Damme-ish part of the film. One of the most difficult(and in the end, most dedicated) students is cousin to a Brazilian drug lord who reigns over the neighborhood. He's not too happy about Dacascos' interference with his plans, or his turning his cousin against him. In a coincidence that only action films can muster, this drug lord is also a master of Capoeira. Soon the war is on between the drug lord and Dacascos, resulting in a big Capoeira showdown. No, it's not all terribly original, but something about this movie really works. What would normally comes across as corny, doesn't so much. Maybe it's the mesmerizing Capoeira scenes, maybe the performances. Well, maybe not the performances coz they're typical of this kind of film. Normally the name Mark Dacascos slapped across the front of a dvd cover box is reason to walk away considering he's never been the mark of quality for a film(though he always seems to have a good screen presence, bad movie or not). This movie could have made him a star though. It's not Shakespeare or anything, but he manages to take a tough guy martial arts character a la Van Damme/Seagal, and make him more human and likable. Yes, Dacascos does a fine job here, and he has some terrific moves. I very much recommend this one to anyone who likes to discover those good ones that slip through the cracks. One thing's for sure, after watching this, you're gonna have a helluva tough time getting that Brazilian chant out of your head.
- Mark Dacascos never really made it big as an action star for whatever reason. However he did seem to have the needed requirements: minimal acting chops, a ripped body, and the ability to do some amazing fight scenes. The last reason is what makes this movie a little known action classic. The movie is completely average, except the amazing kicks & other athletic moves preformed mostly by Dacascos. The best part of the fight scenes however is the fact that they don't look completely fake. With movies today they use so many wires & special effects that they leave whatever sense of reality the movie had previously maintained behind. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes old school action flicks. If you like this movie you will probably like "Drive" another little known classic featuring Dacascos. "Double Dragon" is another movie worth mentioning of his, but only because it was one of the first movies based on a videogame.
- Very nicely done story and it explores the beautiful movements of Capoeira style martial arts.
- The plot line, acting and action sequences are all horrible - barely good enough for a "B" movie. This story has been used too many times and still glosses over the reality of fighting. Public fights never end like it is shown in movies - vengence and maiming and death are much more a realistic end to physical violence.
Further, although the martial art style is exotic and interesting - this is not a fighting system! Sure it may have some distant roots in a camouflaged martial routine - but was and is not a true or even practical fighting system (like Krav Maga or MMA). It takes very little understanding of physics to see that standing upside down on one hand while kicking, is not the most effecient use of balance, weight or speed - all of which are required for effective fighting. Watch something else...
- Sexy and talented martial arts actor Mark Dacascos gets to show off his fine body and skills in this average plot film. The star is martial arts style known as Brazilian Caporeira and Mark's really good at it. The style developed because slaves were forbidden to be taught the martial skills so it was disguised as dance. Pretty ingenious! If you are interested in seeing this fighting style and Mark Dacascos then I highly recommend this film.

So, everyone knows that if you have seen one Jean Claude Van Damme film you have seen them all. So if you must pick, get this one. From pathetic dancing to crazy training, it's good for more then just one laugh. Oh yeah and of course you have some very good montages featured throughout the film. I also recommend Bloodsport as an equal. Enjoy!
- This has always been a favorite movie of mine. I was disappointed that I had picked a movie that was the wrong region. I put it in one DVD and it came up wrong region. Then I put it in another DVD player and beauty away it went. The picture quality was exellent. Like I said before one of my favourite Van Damme movies and there where no hic ups with the recording.
Thanks Amazon you came through for me again when I couldn't find it in the shops here in Australia.Kickboxer
- Excellent martial arts movies a bit corney but my girlfriend loved van damme body. guess i got my work cut out for me.
- On the heels of Bloodsport and the weird sci-fi flick Cyborg came Kickboxer. Here, Jean Claude Van Damne plays Kurt Sloane, the manager and younger brother of kickboxing champion Eric Sloane (played by real-life fighter Dennis Alexio).
While fighting a Thai fighter named Tong Po, Eric gets injured and Kurt vows revenge on him. To this end, he meets a former fighter named Xian Chow and falls in love with his niece Miley.
While much of the film is corny/cheesy but there are some funny parts too. The most funny (to me) is when Xian gets Kurt (Van Damne) drunk in a bar, has him dance (which is one of the funniest things that I have ever seen) and then fight some guys in that bar! Its priceless!
Also, some of the training made me cringe, especially when he made him kick the tree with his injured shin! My friends thought when he did get the tree down and fell to the ground, that was the funniest thing! Even I chuckled a bit because basically he was trying to show Xian he wasn't weak! That's what "machismo" will get you!
Overall, not a bad film!
- Jean Claude Van Damme pumps out yet another indistiguishable movie in which he inevitably beats a guy who would clearly destroy him in real life.
Kurt Sloane (JCVD) is in Thailand for the big fight between his brother - think a pumped up Luigi from Super Mario Brothers - and the baddest, meanest, most deadly kickboxer on the planet, Tong Po. I'm sure there is a verbal play-of-words there with the name Tong Po, but I can't figure it out right now. Naturally, as all JCVD movies go, someone close to him has to suffer before he grows a pair; in this case, his brother gets a beatdown of monumental proportions and is permanently crippled.
Up next for Kurt is training with the master. He must prepare his body to fight Tong Po, and you guessed it, one of the training methods is an intricate pulley system that allows someone to do the splits. Aside from that, a defenseless tree suffers as a result of the training, and Kurt risks becoming a gelding when his master-trainer drops a massive ball from high above onto Kurt's stomach to show how hard and strong his abs had become.
Meanwhile, an convoluted plot takes place where Tong Po's people terrorize a woman Kurt has taken a fancy to, kidnapped the master, and made the leadup to Kurt's battle with Tong Po hell. Luckily for Kurt, every punch in the fight clearly missed his face, and there was no risk of danger or pain whatsoever. It's also especially helpful that Tong Po blatantly shows Kurt the method by which the beatdown will ensue in the upcoming round. It really is the most pathetic defensive fight in history, each blow telegraphed like it's in the Farmer's Almanac. The whole thing is a joke. Tong Po growls, Kurt kicks and/or punches, Tong Po recoils and spits blood, JCVD flexes unnecessarily. One scene is particularly hilarious, as Kurt kicks Tong Po in the face about 43 times - left, right, left, right, ad nauseum.
It's typical JCVD, and if you are like me, going into the movie expecting nearly nothing, then you'll be entertained.
