  1. Check out this person's review: 1 of 4 people found the following review helpful:
Keep on Truckin', January 12, 2008
By T. Kazalski "Rock Expert" (New Orleans, LA) - See all my reviews

Not quite as good as the first movie but it still holds you attention.

The Blu-Ray version is awesome. Time to cease product of low-def DVD's and go Hi-Def only starting now. Only a person with no standards would watch a low-def movie when Hi-Def is available.

And now for mine: Only a person who likes to throw away money on Blu-Rays that come with no extras cannot be too smart.

  2. Rules are meant to be broken and it's very obvious here why. This is due to the fact that the rules of gravity are irrelevant in this sequel to the much better predecessor. Frank Martin A.K.A the transporter is back but this time he is a chauffer for a wealthy family's son, as a matter of fact a senator's son. In this movie the story is so unoriginal; everything is so similar to previous action movies. Take for example the plot revolving a lethal virus, if infected the individual will infect many others, and the only one that can stop it is the malevolent bad guy who started the virus in the first place and only he holds the anti-virus. This story is very reminiscent to that of mission impossible 2. The films plot isn't the only thing that has a problem but the action as well. As mentioned before there is no such thing as gravity in the movie. All of the fight sequences are over the top and really exaggerating. Nevertheless it is entertaining and Jason Statham gives a good performance once again but other than that it's a very inferior sequel with very little credibility.

MY PERSONAL RATING: 3 OUT OF 5

  3. Jason Statham is a Bad A**. This guy is amazing. If his Fast Paced, Extraordinary abilities, and the intense Action of this film are not enough for you, wait until you see the "Bad Girl" of the film!

The super hot, Bad Girl is enough to make me switch sides, but The Transporter sticks to his guns. writing this makes me want to watch the film, again, so I can gander at the Bad Girl. She makes Evil look Sexy.

If The Transporter (Special Delivery Edition) and Transporter 2 get you juiced up, and you want more.... Try Crank (Widescreen Edition) !!!

Crank (Widescreen Edition) is like The Transporter Collection on...steroids. Crank is extremely fast paced, and may leave you breathless.

Jason Statham flicks are my cup of tea.

  4. Transporter 2 DVD

In this sequel to The Transporter Jason Stratham is in Miami working as a chauffer/bodyguard for a wealthy family who springs into action when the young son of his client is kidnapped. The movie is full of high action car chases and stunts. Set in the beautiful Miami, Florida area, so again if you don't enjoy high action movies, just sit back and enjoy the view.
Highly recommended for fans of Jason Stratham , James Bond movies, and high action movies, especially car chases.

    Gunner March, 2008

  5. Caught this on a visit to a relative. Liked the action. Good story line. Must be ready for some violence. Well acted. Some unreal stunts. Highly recommend to age 17 & up if you like "James Bond-Indiana Jones type action.

  1. This is a long movie, but such a fantastic, wild ride the minutes will tick by quickly(love the reference to Jaws in the first act). Two intriguing strangers appear in a small province of France where the land is being terrorized by a strange beast that devours or mangles poor peasants with great cruelty. Samuel LeBihan plays a wise scientist who senses there is something more to the animal attacks. His exotic (and stunningly gorgeous) friend Mani (Mark Dacascos) go into the woods to solve the mystery, only to discover that the beast doesn't work alone...it has a cruel master. A few members of the local aristocracy are hiding a secret and there is a far deeper mystery related to the animal's savage appetite. Just when you think you have this story figured out it manifests into something deeper. A powerful, exciting tale that will interest action/horror/mystery/adventure/thriller/drama/history lovers all at the same time. The tale is loosely based on an 18th century legend of a beast that really ravaged a countryside, making the mood of this movie all the more chilling. It has a definite place on my movie shelf and will be watched often.

    Chrissy K. McVay - Author

  2. Great film, great acting, amazing atmosphere, great effects and one hell of a story. Very well made horror/thriller/adventure film, and a pleaure to watch. A very well made film based on the classic tale of the beast. 10/10

  3. Imagine a fairy tale... but with grit, blood, stylized camerawork, and lots of French kung-fu (savate).

That about sums up "Brotherhood of the Wolf," an epic horror/martial-arts/erotic/action movie loosely based on the French legend of the Beast of Gévaudan, but with a chilling story woven around it. Christophe Gans could have given it a bit more character development, but it's a simple flaw in an otherwise terrifying, intense experience.

An enormous, savage wolflike beast is killing young women and children in the French countryside. And so royal naturalist Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) and his Native American sidekick Mani (Mark Dacascos) arrive to investigate, and find that the local authorities are incompetant, the Beast is larger than any wolf, and it's still savaging the locals.

Mani and Grégoire set about tracking down the beast, finding it to be too large and intelligent (and with metal fangs too). But something more sinister than animal attacks is going on -- Fronsac uncovers a mysterious, treasonous society connected to the Beast, and a mysterious, seductive courtesan (Monica Belucci) with hidden motives of her own.

It may be based on a real incident, but "Brotherhood of the Wolf" soon takes off into its own storyline, and relishes every minute. And Christophe Gans crams the whole thing with whatever he likes -- horror, action, fantasy, political period drama, romance, sex, and some French martial arts. It's like an old fairy tale mutated into a live-action anime.

And Gans' direction style can include a little of everything too -- he handles rosy-skied romantic scenes with the same dexterity as raw sex scenes, rainy sludge and bloody chases, including the aftermath of the beast's attacks. And he handles the camera just as well, although the style comes as a bit of a shock in a period film -- it zooms down cliffs and through underbrush, rapid-pans, and lingers on the fairy-tale landscapes of the French countryside.

One of the best examples of this is near the beginning, with Mani and Grégoire encountering a pair of gypsies being bullied, and Mani whipping the bullies with savate and a little la canne. It's a wild, dizzying scene, and thoroughly effective in showing these guys as a force to be reckoned with, even with just their feet, hands and sticks. But at the same time, Gans wraps the beginning and end in a sense of poignant regret, as well as certain scenes of loss.

If there's a flaw, it's that the plot and rich direction take up so much time that it's hard to wedge in some character development. Bihan fares pretty well as the inscrutable taxidermist who finds himself involved in this mess, and over the course of the movie, you develop a liking for him and his girlfriend. But it would have been nice if the characters of Mani and Sylvia were explored a bit more than they were -- as it is, Belucci and Dacascos do amazing jobs with their characters, an earthily beautiful agent and a butt-kicking Iroquois.

The Canadians put out a three-disc deluxe set awhile back, but Americans have been suffering with the bare-bones theatrical release. Fortunately this is being rectified -- it's a two disc set, and apparently will have some cut scenes restored as well as a bunch of other stuff, one presumes.

This horror/action/period/French kung-fu flick breaks all the rules, and it's all the more enjoyable for it. A glorious action classic, and a must-see for cult film lovers.

  4. fright, horror, torture, death and always lies, lies, lies to build the most powerful empire in the world, even to this day. Well acted period piece. I didn't know who the actors were, but they did a good job. Enjoy!

  5. Another unknown movie that rocks!

This movie has alot of awesome fight scenes, good action and a tricky story. You won't figure it out until the end. I guarantee it!

    Watch "Brotherhood of the Wolf"!!

  1. WOW, this was a very good event. Not only did Pride champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fight for the interim title, but Brock Lesnar makes his huge UFC debut. If you havent seen this event yet, i strongly recommend buying it. It was one of the best i've seen. I wont spoil the results for you but lots of fights dont go the distance.

    PRELIMINARY CARD
    Chris Lytle vs. Kyle Bradley
    Terry Martin vs. Marvin Eastman
    Keita Nakamura Vs. Rob Emerson

    David Heath vs. Tim Boetsch
Tim Boetsch makes his UFC debut against David Heath who is coming off 2 losses from Babalu and Machida. Wow did this fight surprise me. You never know what to expect from a guy making a debut but Boetsch showed us very impressive striking. Front leg kicks and vicious strikes to a redneck judo throw end this fight in the first round.

    MAIN CARD
    Tyson Griffin vs. Gleison Tibau

    Rob Yundt vs. Ricardo Almeida
Ricard Almeida is a UFC veteran and I was really looking forward to his return. , replacement for an injured Alan Belcher, makes his UFC debut. This turned out to be a great ground battle with lots of excitement. Doesn't make it past the first round but both guys looked good.

    Nate Marquardt vs. Jeremy Horn
Nathan Marquardt, coming off a loss to Anderson Silva takes on one of the most experience mma fighters Jeremy Horn. With a record of -----, Jeremy Horn has a great amount of experience and is one of the best submission guys out there. Marquardt, coming off the loss to Silva was hungry for a victory, and possibly a rematch with Silva later on. Horn was a late replacement and came into the fight looking rather chubby. The fight was excellent while it lasted and doesn't make it to the decision.

    Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir
WWE superstar Brock Lesnar makes his UFC debut against Frank Mir in a highly anticipated fight, mainly for Lesnar. With only one fight before this, people didn't know what to expect from Lesnar. Obviously the guy looks like a beast and he definitely showed a very aggressive style while the fight lasted. Frank Mir has always been questioned since his post-accident performances. This fight is a must see battle and a very rewarding and deserving victory.

Tim Sylvia vs. Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro"Nogueira
Before this fight happened, many people speculated a boring 5 round decision leaning towards Tim Sylvia winning the fight. What was displayed that night was the complete opposite. Nogueira and Sylvia both came to win and were very close to finishing at times which made for a very exciting fight. I won't ruin what happened during the fight but Nogueira always proves he's the man no matter what happens and Sylvia showed us why we should respect him again.

  2. Brock Lesnar finally makes his UFC debut against former HW Champ BJJ expert Frank Mir. Tim Syliva takes on former Pride Star Minatoru Nogguira for Randy Coutures HW title. A must buy for all MMA fans. UFC should start releasing the events on Blu-Ray.

  3. The main event gave me my 20 bucks worth alone.Mir vs Lesnar was an awesome fight as well!

5 comments about 3 Ninjas.
  1. All of the 3 Ninjas movies keep my children laughing! They even call themselves Colt and Tum-tum (the kid's ninja nicknames in the movie). My 4 year old is addicted to all of the movies, that is why I purchased the trilogy too. It keeps him occupied for hours! Great for the whole family too! I highly recommend!!!

  2. The 3 ninjas bundle deceives... and you'll understand why if you know all the 3 ninjas movies that were made...

  3. 3 Ninjas is directed by John Turteltaub, and stars Victor Wong, Michael Treanor, Max Elliott Slade, and Chad Power. Co-stars include Alan McRae, Toru Tanaka, Rand Kingsley, Joel Swetow, and Kate Sargent. Richard Marvin composed the film's musical score.

The film tells the story of three brothers (Treanor/Slade/Power.) Their grandfather on their mother's side (Wong) is of oriental descent, and they spend their summers with him, usually with him teaching them ninja arts to protect themselves - much to their FBI agent father's dismay. The grandfather's old business partner has become an arms dealer, and when the grandfather refuses to have anything to do with his old associate, he hires some crooks to have the boys kidnapped as a bargaining tool. What he didn't know is that they have been trained well by their grandfather - and plan to give the would-be kidnappers a run for their money.

This is an excellent, entertaining family film. There's plenty of action and comedy, and entertaining scenes around every corner. Turteltaub has succeeded in giving us a film that kids and adults alike will enjoy. I wouldn't call this an intelligent film by any stretch of the imagination, but everything it does, it does quite well. The three main brother characters are laugh-out-loud funny, and the fight sequences are all well choreographed. Everyone here is well-cast for their respective roles. Essentially, this film takes all the best comedic elements of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Home Alone series, and puts them to excellent use. The fight scenes in the house against the kidnappers are probably the best scenes in the film, borrowing heavily from Home Alone but with Turteltaub putting his own unique spin on things. Able to make you laugh every step of the way through without resorting to gross-out humor (apart from one borderline scene that didn't bother me much,) this is a great action comedy for the whole family.

I have to praise the film heavily for its casting. Each one of the three brothers is an extremely funny character, and each one has their own unique personality to keep things interesting. Michael Treanor plays Rocky, the oldest, most mature brother. Most of his humor comes from trying to keep his two younger brothers in line - which results in some pretty comical scenes. Max Elliott Slade is Colt, the hotheaded, middle-aged brother who has a big ego. Needless to say, it's usually up to Rocky to keep him from rushing headlong into something he can't handle. Easily the funniest of the brothers is the youngest, Tumtum, played here by Chad Power. He's always eating something and there are very few scenes in the film in which he isn't experiencing a sugar high. All three brothers are great, in every scene of the film. And of course, we can't ignore Victor Wong's role as the grandfather. He's a loving, supportive man that cares more about his family than anything - and abides by a code of honor. The role is a bit of a stereotype, in more ways than one, but this is one of the best takes on this role I've seen in a movie of this type. The supporting cast is equally good, the true highlight amongst its ranks being the three hired kidnappers. These guys are moronic surf dudes who are just as comical as the kids they are trying to capture. Rand Kingsley plays Snyder, the resident bad guy, excellently as well. Excellent casting choices and acting on all fronts.

Another thing that credit must be given to is the fight sequences. Even though this is a comedy movie first and all other things second, every combat scene was well choreographed. Turteltaub takes an element from Jackie Chan's films and puts it to good usage here - the use of props in the fights. Whether the fight takes place in Grandpa's mountain retreat, the Douglas family home, or Snyder's ship base, the boys always find things around them that can be put to use in a fight - be it clay pots, decorations around the house, or even just a narrow hallway. The fight scenes are as funny as they are well-choreographed.

I also have to praise Richard Marvin for giving us a musical score that suits the mood of the film nicely. It's an upbeat, whimsical score that reflects the overall lighthearted and satirical nature of the film nicely. Nothing to over-the-top or overly memorable, but when you're watching the film, you'll likely agree - every piece of music fits its respective scene well.

Sadly the DVD version of the film has no bonus features. Hopefully a special edition will eventually be released.

I fail to see why this movie tends to get bashed by movie fans and critics alike. It's action-packed and filled with humor. It's a solid action comedy that young and old alike will enjoy. This is not an intelligent, thought-provoking film, and it certainly isn't trying to be. It's just a lighthearted, comical take on the martial arts genre that accomplishes what it sets out to do. In addition to being a solid film in its own right, it's far superior to any of its sequels.

    Thumbs up.

  4. This has been my favorite movie for as far back as I can remember... love love love

  5. I purchased this movie for my two younger twin brothers (6 years old), who have been bugging me to death to find it for them. Turns out, it was well worth it. I purchased this movie, as well as the Trilogy set with the other three, and my brothers watched all of these movies day after day. They couldn't get enough of the 3 Ninjas!! They were quoting scenes from the movie and it was so cute! A great movie for young children! I recommend it, as I watched it while I was growing up and this movie is something that you can never forget! = )

5 comments about Remo Williams - The Adventure Begins.
  1. This is the only movie from the destroyer book series. A gumg ho go america film thats fun for all

  2. The Destroyer was NOT given a fair shake in this outing. Though it was a good try, it falls short. You can tell there were many involved who did not have a clue about Remo, Chuin, or the Glorious House of Sinanju. I wish they could have done better by them. Though Fred Ward is PERFECT cast as Remo!

  3. Good plot line, good acting, lots of energy, here's a movie that's custom made for sequels. What happened? No Hollywood hype machine. Would have made Fred's career. Love Joel Grey, but not as an Asian character, this was before Hollywood realized that Asian's can play Asian characters. Not as awful as Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's though. That was the worst I've ever seen. I remember when I saw Breakfast at Tiffany's I didn't know he was supposed to be Asian, I just thought he was "special".And Mickey is a good actor, but that performance was just embarrassing for him and the audience. Too bad about this movie though, it would have been a fine jumping off point for Fred's career.

  4. Enough has been written here about this typical action film, but an ignored beauty is Joel Grey's deft performance of an old Korean master. Though in heavy makeup (Grey is not as ancient as the character Master Chuun) Grey was commended for the most sensitive and accurate performance of an Asian character by a white actor. Sounds racist, but the critics at the time really meant it. Yellowface was still in vogue. Very true to the culture, from his accent to the attitude that women are fairly worthless, from his love of soaps to his love of assassination, Grey nails this character. I doubt that the great Keye Luke himself could have done it better. Since America had only cheap Chinese "kung-fu" films, and samurai films were limited to Kurosawa's output, "Remo Williams" is not so bad. Jackie Chan had a small cult following then, and his films were a delight, but I was there when "Remo" was newly released, and I was jaded by all there was to see from Asia. Yet "Remo" moved me. It showed me a good time, and didn't kill me at the box office or when I originally bought it on VHS. Few youngsters today realize the impact it had on the martial arts genre American-style. It gave the genre a hope it had never nejoyed. Bottom line: see this film and decide for yourself, and be merciful to the 1980's for once!

  5. As a kid, I LOVED this movie. After I read the series, I didn't like it as much. Fred Ward and Joel Grey certainly had the right look (although Chuin's attire wasn't proper, but his acting was perfect as Chuin). The origin was totally stupid, and McCleary wasn't portrayed right, either. This movie deserves a remake!

5 comments about The Legend of Drunken Master.
  1. Well I've been a Jackie Chan fan for ages & I must admit this is definitely one of his greatest films. He kept me entertained without the use of any car chases or big fancy explosions. Ken Lo (The main villain) was just crazy with those kicks!!! The main reason I like Jackie Chan is because of his hard work and determination to entertain people. The stunts he's done for our enjoyment has pushed him to the limit and beyond. With some memorable fight scenes & chuckle worthy humor, of all the Jackie Chan movies you gotta see, add this one to the list

  2. I can't say that I'm a connoisseur of Martial Arts films by any means. I have a few Jet Li movies that I enjoy quite a bit, but other than that I don't have much. I also can't say I'm a big fan of Jackie Chan's. The first "Rush Hour" was pretty good, though 2 was just okay, but I didn't like "Shanghai Noon" despite the fact that I do think Owen Wilson is funny. Other than that, I don't have much Jackie Chan experience. Either way, when my girlfriend picked out this movie for purchasing I was skeptical, but because she wanted to see a Martial Arts film I caved, so we watched it.

Wow, what an underestimation I made. I mean maybe it's because I wasn't expecting much so it greatly exceeded my expectations, but I still found this to be an incredibly fun movie to watch. I will warn viewers that this movie is dubbed in English and it's originally done in Cantonese. So, no sub titles, but you have the English over a different language problem where the mouths don't move in sync with the words. I could easily get over this because the movie was very well done and pretty funny. Another part that made this a little easier to deal with is, I believe, Chan dubbed his own character, so that was a nice feature. I'm personally not a Martial Arts purist, so I could let this slide.

Now, I'll probably get thrashed for saying I haven't seen the first Drunken Master yet, frankly I didn't know one existed. That doesn't change my opinion that the movie was great. The Martial Arts performed in this film were absolutely top notch! Even more impressively is Chan does his own stuff, stunts and all. Apparently I should start looking into other Jackie Chan films to see if the others are on par with this one.

Basically we return to Chan's character of Wong Fei Hung. He's a mischievous son of a healer and apparently Martial Arts trainer. Wong Fei Hung learned a style of Martial Arts called Drunken Boxing in the first film from another teacher, but his father doesn't seem to agree with that method of fighting. So when his father finds out he's been engaging in that kind of fighting he is severely chastised for it. It doesn't help that his mother is just as mischievous and was the one who encouraged him to do it! In the midst of all this Wong Fei stumbles upon a British conspiracy which involves taking ancient Chinese artifacts back to England. Wong Fei, a Royal Guard, and his friends seek to stop this from happening. The adventure is part comedy and part serious. Both are mixed excellently in a fairly seamless fashion that doesn't distract the viewer, neither tries to outshine the other style. A testament to how well written this movie is.

The best fight scenes are the one in the restaurant and the final fight. Naturally the final fight has to be one of the best or else it doesn't end on a really superb note. One thing that is added in at the end is some outtake scenes when the credits are rolling. Here you can see some of the funnier mistakes that were made during filming; some of the more shocking are when Chan was being set on fire for some scenes!

Anyway, I can't help but recommend this movie. However, the DVD doesn't appear to have that many options available for viewers. Like you can't watch it with sub titles in its original language. This might detract from some viewers, especially the purists. For me it didn't change my views much, again, I'm a little out of my element in this genre. Regardless, I recommend people see it, it has amazing fight scenes and a very well written story overall.

  3. I, as so many fellow commentators here, have been an almost life long fan of the marvel that is Jackie Chan, and this particular motion picture, "The Legend of Drunken Master" or "Drunken Master II" is probably his best work ever. Definitely top three - fourish (it's quite hard to disguingish the best from the second best isn't it?).

The fights and the stunts are, as usual, stunning, defying belief, and completely bonkers. Everybody is in top form, Jackie Chan, Chin Kar Lok, Ken Lo, Ti Lung and very impressively Lau Kar Leung. Visually very pleasing, very well produced and well acted this film is nothing but impressive.

However, this DVD is the absolute opposite of impressive. There is no original language track on the DVD, only English, which is just stupid. These DVDs should be made with Mandarin/Cantonese(/English) language tracks and nothing less. There aren't any extra materials either, which isn't exactly bonus points to the average buyer.

I give it three stars which comes as a compromise of 6 stars for the film and nil for the release. Get a Chinese copy if you can get your hands on one. It will be so much better.

  4. One of Jackie's best. This movie combines great fight scenes with an "ok" story. The consolate is stealing chinese artifacts for a museum half-way across the world. It's up to Wong Fei-hong to stop them. Just give him some booze, and watch him go.

This movie has great fight scenes, comedy, drama, everything you've come to expect from Jackie. A must have for any collector.

  5. As said in the title, Jackie Chan movies require a specific taste in acting and dialogue. That being said, this movie still is awesome. Jackie Chan is a god, and could take on Bruce Lee AND Chuck Norris. This movie is only trumped by the prequel.

  1. This DVD is very good. The performers are my age and above and this is comforting to me. I am worried if I do too much to start out with I will injure myself. I have some arthritis in my knee and my neck so this is very soothing to me.The fact that the routine can be done sitting in a chair will help others who think they can't exercise. Thanks for the exercise.

  2. recieved the dvd in record time--recieved in excellent shape . was exactly what i was looking for---had taken a class before and wanted to refresh . checked other sites---amazon had it all along !!! vangie minnis

  3. I had never done Tai Chi before. This DVD is perfect for beginners. I love doing it. It's peaceful and relaxing to do and you get in some mild stretching also. The DVD even shows how to do Tai Chi sitting in a chair if you want to.

  4. I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to follow the video. I am not quick on picking up on moves and exercises. But this was very easy. And not at all hard on my back. Overall I am very satisfied.

  5. I purchased this DVD as a Mother's Day Gift for (yep, you guessed it) my mother. She recently enrolled in several entry-level tai chi classes, so I sought a video that would supplement--rather than substitute--her newly found interest.

I watched my 72-year-old mother peform the techniques described in the video with a smile on her face. Although I am a far cry from a tai chi expert, I was impressed with the DVD's scenic pace and pleasant soundtrack. The instructor describes and demonstrates the movements in a fluid and friendly manner, while the DVD's layout provides logical places for the user to skip or replay certain parts within the 45+ minute routine.

In short, I am impressed with this product, and look forward to adding to my mother's collection.

  1. My daughter normally loves The Little Einsteins, they are interactive and fun, with great music but after watching Rocket's Firebird Rescue she started having nightmares. She is terrified of the bats and the ogre and wakes up in the night crying and saying "The bats are going to get me!" I was really disappointed because I thought I could trust Einsteins to be age appropriate. I would strongly caution anyone buying this movie for young children not to, unless you want to be up at 3:00am "drumming" to make the bats disappear. There is too much drama and it is much too scary for young children.

  2. My daughter will watch Little Einsteins over and over. It's no surprise that she loves this movie!

  3. My 2yo loves this DVD, she will watch both programs over and over if I let her, she interacts with it and sings the Firebird song even when it's not on. I thought it may be scary for her but she doesn't seem to find it scary at all!

  4. Purchased this for my 2 yr old granddaughter, and she loves it. Watched it twice the first day and knows the names of the characters and looks forward to the progression of the story. Hums the music, which I like. Would highly recommend this for any child.

  5. I own most of the Little Einstein's movies. This one hands down is my sons favorite. Good music, story, fun, and best of all I can having to watch it twice a week.

  1. I've had trouble dedicating enough time to my Qigong exercises to do me much good but this workout right here is perfect. It take about 20 minutes to go through all the movements one by one to learn them and then they do 1 fluid exercise using all of the movements which only takes about 10 minutes. This is perfect for those on the go who don't always have time for a full Qigong session.

  2. Recvd CD in timely fashion and in perfect condition. Have not had a chance to try it out yet, but am looking forward to doing it.

  3. Gentle, yet very effective stretch exercises for all ages. I have arthritis and although I'm not able to do all of the exercises, I am much improved by those I do. There is a calm serenity that I feel from these two beautiful people, Francesco & Daisy Lee Garripoli.
    Thank you for the gift,
    Bobbie Quinn

  4. Would but from this seller again (and would appreciate not having to "write a review" - I just gave one)!

  5. I am new to this type of exercise/healing. I sought it out because I'm always getting colds especially from my 4 year old or my husband the works in cubicles. I get migraines once a month and I have hypothyroidism. I have no energy and I'm sick of being sick. I did some research on google and came across Qi Gong and but really didn't know much about it so I did some more research and read the reviews on Amazon on different dvd's.

I was a little apprehensive at first but it was the best investment I've made. I love this video, it was perfect pace for someone who is not patient, Garri guides you through every step keeping you on track of breathing and moving correctly. I just finished my first session and it was energizing, peaceful and relaxing. The quality of video was excellent, learning the excersizes are extremely easy to follow, and I would recommend this to everyone. Someone said in the reviews here that they would just recommend this to beginners. I don't believe that. If you truly get what Garri is saying, it's all about the mind, body, soul...chi so I think it's for anyone and all the time. Moves do not have to complicated or advanced for this to work...in my opinion. I have nothing but praise for this video and will return with next review in a few months to let you all know the changes it's had on my life. The only thing I would say if anything is if the music could be just a little louder. Lastly, the documentary was just amazing and almost felt like National Geographic!!! Garri's interview was uplifting and inspiring...thank you for this gift.

5 comments about Ong-Bak - The Thai Warrior.
  1. If you enjoy Martial Arts then you will like this. Sure it is cheesy and subtitled but the Muay Thai fighting is so fun to watch. Tony Jaa is truly amazing.

  2. Admittedly I'm not keen on the story....but talk about jaw dropping action. Its just well executed moves... one after the other from a real life martial artist. To see Tony Jaa in action is to oberserve a disciplined student of an ancient art. Simply breath taking to say the least.

  3. Easily the best martial arts movie ever made. Great muy thai. I train in the art, and the movie is like watching an instructional video on thai boxing. It has everything and more that you would ever need in a MA movie. Best ever.

  4. ng-Bak - Muai Thai Warrior is directed by Hiroshi Koujina, and stars Tony Jaa, Petchtai Wongkamiao, Suchao Pongwilai, Wannakit Sirioput, Chumphorn Thepphithak, Rongrawee Barijindakul, Chatthapong Pantanaunkun, and Pumwaree Yodkamol. ***

Ong-Bak follows the action and adventures of a young man in a distant village. In that village, the local Buddha statue's head is stolen, and it is superstition in the village that if the head isn't restored, bad luck will befall the villagers. Not wanting to risk that fate, the villagers raise money to send the young warrior to the big city, on a quest to recover the missing head. ***

Ong-Bak may have a storyline and a plot that is followed, but the entire more is more-or-less a vehicle for Tony Jaa to show off his martial arts moves. The film makes no apologies for what it is, and it succeeds beautifully as this type of movie. The story is shallow, the characters uninteresting, and the end result in numerous parts of the movie is less than stellar. And yet, Ong-Bak is redeemed by Jaa's performance. His action scenes alone make the film worth recommending. ***

Tony Jaa can not be praised enough for his work in this film. He does his own stunts and will always maintain your interest throughout the feature. The stunts he does are incredible, and it isn't hard to see why this was his breakout film. It's great to see someone doing all their own stunt work and the like in a film like this. With his excellent performance here, it's not surprising that he went onto star in another of solid, well-received film - and that a sequel is in the works, with Jaa in the director's chair. ***

It's not a perfect film, and while certainly good enough to recommend, there are plenty of issues. The main problem here is that Jaa IS the movie. His performance is phenomenal, but other aspects of the film leave a lot to be desired - characters and a plot that lack depth, and a length that, while not extreme, probably could have been trimmed by 15 minutes or so. But don't let any of this steer you away, you've come to the right place if it's action you seek. ---

    Image And Sound:

For the most part, this is a solid DVD transfer. ***

As far as the image quality goes, it's generally a clean, crisp visual experience, though there are a few minor visual issues here and there. The real issues come in the darker scenes, in which the grain becomes all too evident. Still, there aren't a whole lot of big issues, and there's certainly nothing that will detract from the overall experience. ***

The audio for the original Thai audio track with English subtitles (the one you SHOULD watch) is mixed excellently here, dialogue and sound effects alike throughout the presentation are audible with no difficulties. ***

The English dubbed track (which you shouldn't bother with) is less than stellar - the voice acting is terrible, very obviously a dub, and audio is mixed poorly. All the more reason to watch this film in the original Thai, as the filmmakers intended.

    Special Features:
There are quite a few special features on the disc, but the problem is most of them are very short, and some of them aren't even really worth watching, The best bonus material on here is Jaa doing his thing at some live performances, but even these scenes don't last nearly as long as they should. There is also a music video set to Jaa doing his stuff, and a making-of featurette corresponding to the video, but neither one of those are all that interesting. To put it simply, the best stuff on here as far as bonuses go are the items that involve Jaa doing what he does best, and what few pieces of material show it don't last long enough. Extended cast and crew interviews would have been nice, too.

    Final Words:

As far as straight action martial arts movies go, Ong-Bak is in a class of its own, thanks to the performance of its leading man. Those who haven't heard of Jaa soon will - it's only a matter of time before this guy is an international superstar. No martial arts movie collection is complete without Ong-Bak.

  5. Tony Jaa, the new champion. This movie has excellent stunts ands fight scenes a must buy for martial arts lovers. you won't regret.
