5 comments about Blade (New Line Platinum Series).
  1. "I give her 50/50 do you remember Mr Crispy at the hospital" great halloween movie.

  2. This first installment is the best of the trilogy. Blade is the series that inspired many other 'dark-vampire' type movies that would follow for many years later but nothing tops the original bad-to-the-bone vampire killer Blade. A modern day super hero at its finest.

  3. Blade is an excellent niche in the market of Vampire tellings and tales. Wesley Snipes plays the part of a Daywalker, a vampire that has a genetic altering which allows him to withstand sunlight and the other various nuisances that the Vamps of the night have to deal with.

Blade is heavy on imagery and action, with a cast that is also great! Kris Kristofferson and Stephen Dorff are seen early and often and their characters bring a lot of strength to an otherwise simple storyline. Snipes as a vampire hunter is superb, and his character has a nice no-nonsense approach at taking on the vamps, which are seeing a rise in power and a change in the ranks take place that could mean the end of all mankind.

The storyline that follows Dorff's character trying to decipher an ancient vampire code was well done, and added to the supporting structure that the vampires needed in order to make them feel like something more than just "humans with fangs" who suck blood. Dark and Gothic with a sense of balance in the fact that everything within the plot seems to work very well, there are no loose ends, no sub plots that go nowhere and not a single character shown that doesn't have an impact in the impending outcome of the story. Battle scenes are early and often, with a wide variety of hardware and weaponry showcased by Blade (Snipes) and the few who stand behind him and his stand against ultimate domination by the Vampires. Blade is different, and does its best to stay away from common clichés considering how often stories regarding vampires are portrayed, therefore making it somewhat unique and having rewatchable value.

  4. Even though this is a bloodbath, it is sleek and stylish, and the good storyline makes this a great modern vampire movie. The superhero aspect of this is part of what makes it so good. I didn't particularly like the sequels to this, but my husband and I both loved this movie. We had to wait to watch it until the kids were in bed, since this is way too grown up for them. But we loved it, and were never really drawn to vampire movies before. This DVD is great and has something like an alternate ending, the La Magra sequence, but it actually comes a little before the true "end" of the movie. The actual end of the movie is the same as the theatrical release, which is the one I remember seeing on TV too. Even though I never really liked vampire movies, this story is so good that it makes me want to hunt down some of the comic books.

  5. I've been doing my own reading and retrospective on vampires over the last couple of weeks after seeing "I am Legend" with Will Smith. So I decided to go back to the iconic source. Having not read Dracula in years, I decided to read it again and began by comparing it to the contemporary (1992) movie version...Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" starring Gary Oldman. When I initially read the story as a child, I focused more on my stereotyped "Dracula as performed by Bella Lugosi" and not Stoker's original version. Reading Stoker in the original again I was charmed by the writing style and mores of the times. It holds up well. I then watched Coppola's movie which was tarted up and sexualized for today's audience. While Oldman's over the top performance is great fun to watch, the book is so much better. And if I were Stoker, I would be turning in my grave since the movie version barely follows the book and yet is "Bram Stoker's Dracula".

I then dragged Blade out of my movie collection. It is great campy fun. The first club scene is absolutely classic and really sets the mood for the rest of the movie. This is my favorite Wesley Snipes movie and he really delivers. And I love Kris Kristofferson's dissipated, whiskey voiced as Blade's compadre. The action drags a little bit in the middle, but the end is satisfying, and the bad guy really radiates "evil bad". So you are cheering Blade to the end. Yes, I know this is a B movie, and it has nothing to do with the iconic original dracula. But if you love vampire movies, I recommend this highly. It holds up well even though it it a decade old.

5 comments about The Karate Kid (Special Edition).
  1. I'm not proud of it, but I will confess: I've seen THE KARATE KID more than once. And because of this film's adolescent annoyance, I really have no explanation. I truly believe Ralph Macchio has yet to shave; Pat Morita ("Wax on, wax off,") should have stayed on the set of "Happy Days"; blond William Zabka is about as menacing a bully as a yapping chihuahua; and Elisabeth Shue appeared in this film long before she hit her glorious sensuous stride. The haircuts are a riot, the music relentlessly myopic, and while watching this campy caper I have the unmistakable taste of bubblegum haunting my mouth.

Yet I continue to take in this sappy marshmallow yarn--a story about a displaced (and annoying) New Jersey teen suddenly transplanted to the left coast with its yuppie culture and peach-fuzzed Cobra Kais. Our young hero must learn to defend himself, he must learn karate, and what better way to absorb the martial arts than under the careful tutelage of an eccentric Japanese maintenance man?

    Hey, it works for me.

I can't explain it--maybe I'm a glutton for hokey--but this is a feel-good story that will put a smirk on your mug. Plus THE KARATE KID gives us at least two cinematic legends: the shower curtain costume and the infamous, "Sweep the leg." That's worth two extra viewings right there.
    --D. Mikels, Author, Walk-On

  2. This is one of the definitive movies of the 80's and is a source of great memories for many people, don't ruin them by listening to the commentary track.

This is a review of the commentary track:

Like most DVD collectors, I am usually swayed by the insight of the director's commentary, but this one left me feeling sad.

Involved in the commentary is the director, a producer, Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita and the screenwriter. The director provides very calm insightful memoirs when he is given the chance, but that is overshadowed by the belligerent (and senile) Pat Morita who thinks he is Mr. Miyagi.

Mr. Morita spends the whole movie bickering with the screenwriter over what was in the script and what he came up with on his own while filming. Basically trying to give credit to himself and Ralph Macchio for the whole production, which really shatters your image of Miyagi.

Ralph Macchio is caught in the middle of the arguements as the voice of reason trying to calm everyone down, as the rest of the crew looks to him like "The Golden Boy".

There are some interesting memories and fond rememberances by the crew, but it's really hard to move past the negativity on the track.

Luckily the special feature documentaries are heavily edited and avoid any of the ugliness of the commentary.

My advice is to enjoy the movie and don't turn on the commentary.

  3. This is also one funtastic movie. The way the unspoken affection of the karate Master is shown is simply amazing. Even the kid is a good obidient student & also very casual. The determination of the kid and even his coach is very good as well. The kids victory at the end is a very nice ending again. This is one of the must watch films and a must have movie in ones personal collection. Thats what I would say.

  4. my kid initiating on karate lessons. don't ever get to this without watching with him the movie...

  5. The Karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita is truly a treasure from the '80s. I love this film so much, I remember watching this movie over and over again as a little girl. Elisabeth Shue also stars, she is great in this film, I am a big fan of her work. I love the scene where Macchio's character goes to a Halloween party dressed like a shower, it's hilarious! I highly recommend this coming of age flick, great to watch with family and friends, enjoy!

5 comments about Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie.
  1. My Gandson loves this movie. I'm really glad it's at his house because watching it once is more than enough for me! If I was rating it for me I would give it 1 star if that, but he loves it so I gave it a 5 star rating.

  2. I purchased this movie for my grandson's 3rd birthday. He loves it and wants to watch it all the time. He imitates the kung fu moves, which is better than a lot of the violence you see in movies, even ones geared for the younger crowd.

The humor is hokey, but considering the target audience it is fine. There is enough goo, special effects and colorful costumes to please a young group, boys and girls.

I watched it myself 4 times in one rainy afternoon with my grandson, Nathan, and it was ok. He loves it and that's what counts. Four stars.

  3. I got this movie when i was 4 years old and i still have it. Iam glad i saw the power ranger actors when i was 5 years old in 1999 in rock a fella plaza in new york city when i see this movie know a days it bring back so many memorys of the power ranger shows the knew power ranger shows know a days are not that great like mystic force and operation over drive they are okay but not better than the old power rangers i just hope they put back the old power rangers on jetix that would nice and iam sorry for the car accident death of the original yellow ranger thuy thang on the san francisco highway in 2001 i was real sad when i heard that but knew power ranger shows came out well their not knew any more but i saw them they where really great. Okay back to this movie, this movie was real good but why did this movie come after the shows power rangers first came out in 1993 this came out in 1995 oh well this movie was good.

  4. If you were growing up in the early 90's as a kid you would remeber how "THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS" would be the show to run home to watch..POWER RANGERS THE MOVIE is just MARVELOUS!! GR8 movie for the next generation to look back and marvel at!

  5. As a child, I loved the original Power Rangers! Now that I'm out of high school, I still miss the original series. The movie was/is awesome! Ivan Ooze has escaped and Lord Zedd needs his help to stop the Rangers for good. When Ooze wants to control the world and destroys the Command Center and almost kills Zordon, the Rangers have lost their power and travel to another planet to find the Great Power. After they retrieve the power, they go back to earth to stop Ivan Ooze. The special effects are awesome and the storyline is sweet! If you are a fan of the original, you'll love the movie.

5 comments about Kung Fu Hustle (Axe-Kickin' Edition).
  1. Kung Fu Hustle is among my favorite films, not because I am a die-hard fan of Stephen Chow, but because I really liked the wild mix of comedy, adventure, crime caper and martial arts action. Most notably the excellent fight choreography by legendary Yuen Woo-Ping(who is also responsible for the fight scenes of Kill Bill vol. 1, Fearless, The Matrix, Hero). As I said, I love KUNG FU HUSTLE and am very much looking forward for its sequel in 2008, so forgive me if I am a bit biased. (I will try my best not to lose my objectivity)

The New "AXE KICKING EDITION" soon to be released by Sony is actually the REGION-3 Hong Kong release which I have. (I am certain)The Hong Kong release is still the one to go for if you have a multi-region dvd player. Since I almost know for certain that only fans of the film will be interested in this new edition, I will skip the plot summary. ( for those of you who haven't seen it, you may look up my review under the original U.S. DVD.)

I will go straight to the differences between the previous dvd release and this new "Axe-kicking edition"(original Hong Kong release):
    Mild spoilers ahead---
Scene 1; The landlady throws her husband out of a window and drops a flower pot that ended up on the back of his head. The original cut showed a small pool of blood coming from his face, but the U.S. version digitally omitted it. The blood now appears as part of the film.
Scene 2; Sing heckles/insults the residents of Pig Sty Alley and gets hit in the tummy by a woman. The original cut showed Sing spitting up blood which landed on the woman's face, but the earlier U.S. version digitally removed the blood (though some still appeared around Sing's mouth). The blood now appears in this release.
Scene 3; This may be more offensive to others; it takes place on the eve of the big attack on Pig Sty Alley. The Hong Kong cut showed a man taking a d--p onto a piece of paper as the camera panned by, but the American version digitally removed the offensive feces. Now the paper is no longer blank. "Mr. Poo" makes an appearance!
Scene 4; Sing confronts "The Beast" in the casino, he gets hit hard on the chest twice. After the 2nd hit, blood sprays on The Beast's face and Sing is shown reeling backwards from the force of the punch with blood spurting from his mouth. The U.S. version PREVIOUSLY removed both of these sequential shots.
Scene 5; Also in the casino, Sing's head is hit on his face, hammered into the ground by The Beast. After the first hit, The Beast's bloody fist is shown emerging from the floor in slow motion...but the U.S. version removed this shot entirely.
Now for the DVD Picture and Sound quality--
2.35 Anamorphic Widescreen. The Picture is extremely sharp with solid Black levels. Colors are natural and enhancements are not noticeable. CGI effects suffer a bit of softness. But the transfer is clean and nice. It is the Hong Kong transfer from what I can tell.
Sound is in 5.1 Dolby/2.0 surround in English, French & Cantonese. I am a bit disappointed why Sony still didn't include the Cantonese 5.1 DTS track as in the original Hong Kong release. Why?!
    EXTRAS: Stephen Chow interview--Bloopers/outtakes--Featurettes: w/ Yuen Woo-Ping, Oliver Wong(Production designer), Shirley Wong(Costumes)
    Storyboard comparison--trailers--audio commentary
CLOSING: Kung Fu Hustle is one of the more entertaining (if not the most fun in 2004) imports. It mixes pop culture blends, over-the-top comedy, hard-hitting action while maintaining a profound respect for the spirit of Kung Fu. This new region 1 release is a bit confusing, while it contains the original cut of the film, it misses the original special features and the powerful DTS Cantonese Language track. I wouldn't advise a "double dip" for fans who own the first REGION 1 dvd, but for fans who doesn't own the movie, pick this new version up. However, the lack of DTS sound is a huge minus for this version. I STILL prefer the ORIGINAL Hong Kong region-3 release!
    RECOMMENDED!! (Timidly)

  2. Get this movie. It's great. The Matrix with comedy, kung-fu, and well, umm, Wile E. Coyote type action all rolled into a great little film! Don't try to think, just let the film take you where it's going. My highest recommedation.

  3. At first I was shocked by the violence in Kung Fu Hustle, but eventually I understood that it's not meant to be taken seriously. It reminded me of the violence in Three Stooges episodes where crazy things happen and then everyone gets up, dust's off and walks away. Sometimes I laughed so hard it was painful. The fight scenes with wire work and special effects are very effective. There is also a thread of childhood friendship which adds a sweet note to the film. There are a number of Special Features which add value if you like shorts about how the special effects were created, etc.

Highly recommended if you can get past the "cartoon gore".

  4. One of the most perfect movies ever made, just got a little better. If you've never seen Kung Fu Hustle, SEE IT! If you have seen Kung Fu Hustle, SEE IT AGAIN! This is the unaltered movie as it was originally meant to be seen.

This "Axe-Kickin' Edition" doesn't add a whole lot to the previous American release, it just puts back some of the details that were edited out of the original Hong Kong version, presumably for the delicate, easily offended American masses. Nothing too dramatic, just a little blood and such. For some reason Hollywood seemed to think that American audiences couldn't handle it. Which I don't get at all. I've seen other "R" rated movies with 20 times as much blood and violence, as the Hong Kong version of this movie. Plus the violence in Kung Fun Hustle is presented in such a totally over-the-top manner that makes it seem much less harsh than the mostly realistic violence found in American movies. (Like the Oscar winning "No Country For Old Men" for example).

Kung Fu Hustle is not a "spoof" of martial arts movies, it's more of an "homage" with a wild mix of crazy, laugh out loud humor and amazing martial arts action. Bottom line, if you like fun and awesomeness you will love Kung Fu Hustle. I guarantee it.

  5. This is such a great movie! Great Martial arts -- and great comedy! All in one...

5 comments about Enter the Dragon.
  1. While there have been some classics since this 1973 film such as Bloodsport (Van Damne), Hard To Kill (Steven Seagal), Best Of The Best (James Earl Jones), The Perfect Weapon (Jeff Speakman), Rumble In The Bronx (Jackie Chan) and Eye For An Eye (Chuck Norris), none have touched this legendary piece by the late Bruce Lee and the late Robert Clause.

The plot is very basic. Bruce plays a highly skilled and spiritual martial artist who goes to the tournament of Han to avenge his sisters death and resort honor to the Shaolin Temple which Han betrayed years earler.

Along the way, he meets Ropert (John Saxon) and Williams (Jim Kelly). The three end up in a web of intrigue and danger as they must fight for their own lives and bring down Han's criminal network. Also stars Ahni Capri and Bolo Yueng (the villian from Bloodsport and Double Impact).

Extras include an A & E special showing the lost footage from "The Game Of Death" in the way that Bruce originally meant it to be shown! It also has another bio narrated by George Takei with interviews from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Colburn, Danny Inasoto and Linda Lee Caldwell (Bruce's widow) among others. It also has two features focusing strictly on ETD and a very touching introduction from Mrs. Caldwell. It also has a rare interview with Bruce in which he ends it with one of his legendary quotes....."Be water my friend."

Overall, this is probably the best package for Enter The Dragon that has been released and probably ever will be released! As one reviewer said earlier, this is a must have! NO! This should be required viewing for anyone that calls himself a martial arts fan! Sorry to sound like a mark but this film is what a martial arts movie should be like! I would also recommend Bruce Lee's other films The Big Boss (Fist Of Fury), Fist Of Fury (Chinese Connection), Way Of The Dragon (Return Of The Dragon) and even Game Of Death though it is nothing like what Bruce wanted for the film.

Anyway, this movie is highly recommended!

  2. Enter The Dragon is in a class all its own.

    Bruce...we salute you!

  3. Every so often a genius of kinesthetic flow arrives in the world; Enter the Dragon is an opportunity to witness first hand the phenominal ability of Li Jun Fan (Bruce Lee) at the very top of his craft. I feel safe in saying that there is no other martial artist put on film that has such dynamic presence and amazing focus as Lee; and Enter the Dragon captures this intensity like no other film.

This film is the first in many ways. Not only the first Chinese/American team up of a martial arts film, it is the very first true martial arts picture ever to be filmed in English. Martial arts star Sammo Hung is highlighted in the first five minutes of the film (first time I believe) and there is even a bit part for an extremely young Jackie Chan (watch closely) as the recipient of Lee's "fists of fury". Starring Bruce Lee, John Saxon and new-comer Jim Kelly, Lee plays a Shaolin monk that is convinced by British Authorities (at the time Governing Hong Kong) to infiltrate an island via a martial arts tournament run by a rogue Shaolin monk named Han (Played by Shih Kien). The government wants Lee to infiltrate the tournament and contact them with information of Han's activities.

The film is laced with Lee's Zen philosophy of life. He uses martial arts as a metaphor for all of life and a vehicle in which to understand all of life's big questions. This film is Lee's final masterpiece as the Little Dragon died 6 days before the US release of Enter the Dragon. This film is a testament to an amazing human being that managed to bridge the gap between East and West. A must see for anyone interested in Martial Arts or Eastern thought.

  4. this is the best movie of bruce lee, where he shows something about his philosophy about fighting, and the documentals are very interesting, its almost unreal the things he did,

  5. The 1973 film ENTER THE DRAGON was the first Hollywood kung fu film, placing the then little-known Bruce Lee among American actors and featuring a plot of international proportions.

Of course, the Hong Kong roots of the genre still hold. The manaical supervillain Han (Shih Kien) is murdering young women on his private island. When Han organizes an international martial arts tournament, Lee is sent by the Hong Kong government to bust Han's operation. He is joined by American businessman Roper (John Saxon), hoping to get some money to pay off mafia debts, and black activist Williams (Jim Kelly), who just seeks victory and looking good.

There's a great deal of humour in the story, beyond the traditional incompetent henchmen and improbably deft martial arts. I can't imagine that the film-makers did not intend that the viewer take the supervillain's tropes seriously. When Han strokes his cat while plotting his schemes, or when he gives one character a tour of his entire criminal enterprise before asking him to join them, we can't help but chuckle at this borrowings from James Bond. The film works well as mindless entertainment.

Nonetheless, the film-makers succeeded in making a film that was more than a simple action outing. Two scenes made ENTER THE DRAGON a classic of cinema. In a scene where Bruce Lee wields nunchaku we are treated to one of the finest documents of athletic prowess, testimony that Lee was not just a simple action star but a great sportsman. The climax of the film, where Lee duels with Han in a hall of mirrors, is rich in symbolism and elegantly filmed, coming to influence many films since. And I personally, a recent visitor to Hong Kong and one passionately interested in the area, enjoyed seeing how Kowloon and Hong Kong Island looked before the boom era.

I had a good time watching ENTER THE DRAGON and recommend to any who might be intrigued by a kung fu film that transcends its genre to some degree.

5 comments about Ong-Bak - The Thai Warrior.
  1. If you enjoy Martial Arts then you will like this. Sure it is cheesy and subtitled but the Muay Thai fighting is so fun to watch. Tony Jaa is truly amazing.

  2. Admittedly I'm not keen on the story....but talk about jaw dropping action. Its just well executed moves... one after the other from a real life martial artist. To see Tony Jaa in action is to oberserve a disciplined student of an ancient art. Simply breath taking to say the least.

  3. Easily the best martial arts movie ever made. Great muy thai. I train in the art, and the movie is like watching an instructional video on thai boxing. It has everything and more that you would ever need in a MA movie. Best ever.

  4. ng-Bak - Muai Thai Warrior is directed by Hiroshi Koujina, and stars Tony Jaa, Petchtai Wongkamiao, Suchao Pongwilai, Wannakit Sirioput, Chumphorn Thepphithak, Rongrawee Barijindakul, Chatthapong Pantanaunkun, and Pumwaree Yodkamol. ***

Ong-Bak follows the action and adventures of a young man in a distant village. In that village, the local Buddha statue's head is stolen, and it is superstition in the village that if the head isn't restored, bad luck will befall the villagers. Not wanting to risk that fate, the villagers raise money to send the young warrior to the big city, on a quest to recover the missing head. ***

Ong-Bak may have a storyline and a plot that is followed, but the entire more is more-or-less a vehicle for Tony Jaa to show off his martial arts moves. The film makes no apologies for what it is, and it succeeds beautifully as this type of movie. The story is shallow, the characters uninteresting, and the end result in numerous parts of the movie is less than stellar. And yet, Ong-Bak is redeemed by Jaa's performance. His action scenes alone make the film worth recommending. ***

Tony Jaa can not be praised enough for his work in this film. He does his own stunts and will always maintain your interest throughout the feature. The stunts he does are incredible, and it isn't hard to see why this was his breakout film. It's great to see someone doing all their own stunt work and the like in a film like this. With his excellent performance here, it's not surprising that he went onto star in another of solid, well-received film - and that a sequel is in the works, with Jaa in the director's chair. ***

It's not a perfect film, and while certainly good enough to recommend, there are plenty of issues. The main problem here is that Jaa IS the movie. His performance is phenomenal, but other aspects of the film leave a lot to be desired - characters and a plot that lack depth, and a length that, while not extreme, probably could have been trimmed by 15 minutes or so. But don't let any of this steer you away, you've come to the right place if it's action you seek. ---

    Image And Sound:

For the most part, this is a solid DVD transfer. ***

As far as the image quality goes, it's generally a clean, crisp visual experience, though there are a few minor visual issues here and there. The real issues come in the darker scenes, in which the grain becomes all too evident. Still, there aren't a whole lot of big issues, and there's certainly nothing that will detract from the overall experience. ***

The audio for the original Thai audio track with English subtitles (the one you SHOULD watch) is mixed excellently here, dialogue and sound effects alike throughout the presentation are audible with no difficulties. ***

The English dubbed track (which you shouldn't bother with) is less than stellar - the voice acting is terrible, very obviously a dub, and audio is mixed poorly. All the more reason to watch this film in the original Thai, as the filmmakers intended.

    Special Features:
There are quite a few special features on the disc, but the problem is most of them are very short, and some of them aren't even really worth watching, The best bonus material on here is Jaa doing his thing at some live performances, but even these scenes don't last nearly as long as they should. There is also a music video set to Jaa doing his stuff, and a making-of featurette corresponding to the video, but neither one of those are all that interesting. To put it simply, the best stuff on here as far as bonuses go are the items that involve Jaa doing what he does best, and what few pieces of material show it don't last long enough. Extended cast and crew interviews would have been nice, too.

    Final Words:

As far as straight action martial arts movies go, Ong-Bak is in a class of its own, thanks to the performance of its leading man. Those who haven't heard of Jaa soon will - it's only a matter of time before this guy is an international superstar. No martial arts movie collection is complete without Ong-Bak.

  5. Tony Jaa, the new champion. This movie has excellent stunts ands fight scenes a must buy for martial arts lovers. you won't regret.

5 comments about Warrior Workout - Kundalini Yoga w/ Ana Brett & Ravi Singh **ALL LEVELS**.
  1. This workout deserves its name, it is energizing and powerful! It requires strength, flexibility and focus, so the level is more geared towards intermediate and advanced audiences, but there are some modifications shown for beginners. The sequences are well designed, and the chaptering makes it easy to create your own workout. The warm-up is deceiving: it starts lightly and then catches up fast. I agree with one previous reviewer that the meditation at the end of the workout is amazing, again very powerful. This a great workout to have in one's collection!

  2. I LOVE this one!! It is so great first thing in the morning. It will get your engines started, and running ALL DAY!!!

It's so full of energy and FUN yoga. Many movements will really get your heartrate up, and your body sweating. But, all in a fun way.

Practice this regularly, and you will see results. Not only in your body, but also your mind, and spirit.

  3. I am pleased to find this comprehensive DVD with the new Matrix option. It takes us through a thorough warm-up, spinal exercises and all, and goes into cardio and cleansing, with meditations and mantra. There are some difficult moves, but with modifications it is doable.

The matrix option is great! Just select which parts you want to do, in order, and it plays it through as ordered.

    Very nifty.

I love Ravi and Ana DVD's!

    kstars

  4. Never ever Done a workout that keeps your body moving and energy flowing all day long like this one! Really it is true this one fires up your engines and gets the motor running in turbo charge, you feel like speedy Gonzales after this one. A must do to start the day in a great way!!!!!

  5. Having experienced Kundalini Yoga Teacher's Training, I am familiar with this set. The venerable and amazing Krishna Kaur had us do this set one fine afternoon, only she had us do it the way Yogi Bhajan taught it to them back in the day which means that most of the moves were done for 108 repetitions, not by time. (Imagine, 108 frogs, 108 pistons, 108 times of raising the hips off the floor and dropping them...yikes) At the end, I was seriously holding onto the railing to walk down the stairs to my car, my legs were shaking so much.

This is the same amazing set, but done at a much more approachable pace. It's challenging and got me sweating and moving great energy but without the wobbly leg scenario afterwards.

Since I am currently doing a candida cleanse/detox I plan on adding this set in at least twice each week throughout, to help support the cleanse. I don't have the new Matrixed version for all levels, and I imagine that's even better, but the original set itself is just wonderful. I had low energy when I started but felt quite alive by the end!

This is truly for all the spiritual warriors out there.

    Sat Nam
    Namaste
    Blessed Be

  1. Anybody who's anybody will watch this movie. After discovering it in my grandpa's collection of Chinese movies, I've watched this many times. Kungfu from the Shaolin temple is amazing, but best of all when you have Jet Li perform it.

Jet Li and his friend grow up in the temple together, inseparable. But when they get kicked out, they go opposite ways and become enemies. Jet Li leads a rebellion agianst the harsh government of which his friend is cruelly abusing his status as lieutenant. Betrayals or sorts leads Jet Li to found, after meditation, Tai Chi, and a final battle is held with breath-taking fighting scenes.

A light-hearted comedy at times or serious action at others, the Tai Chi Master is truly master of fighting in the movie industry.

  2. This really isn't a review (though the martial arts choreography in the film is pretty fanciful, it's still pretty solid). What I'd like to know is whether or not the featured film in this new edition has been is remastered. I have an earlier Hong Kong edition - however the transfer was mediocre at best. I'd preorder this edition, but I need to know: has Yuen Woo Ping's "Tai Chi Master" been remastered... or is this yet another edition of same lackluster transfer marketed in Hong Kong?

    Please advise....

  1. UFC just keeps getting better and better, and they deliver every time! UFC 82 features a middleweight championship fight between the champ Anderson "The Spider" Silva and Dan Henderson. Dropping down from LHW to Middleweight after losing the Pride belt to Rampage Jackson, Henderson puts his Pride middleweight belt on the line with Anderson Silva. "He's never fought anyone like me before" Henderson says before going to battle with the muay tai Brazilian killing machine. This fight doesn't make it to the end and was a great one while it lasted!

Also on the card is a fight between Heath Herring and Cheick Kongo with major title contentions. Kongo, coming off a huge win to Mirko Cro Cop looks to put another loss on Herrings record who was coming off his a loss to the current heavyweight champ Antonio Minotauro Nogueira. The fight goes all 3 rounds, is mostly a ground war, and a split decision is the outcome! An exciting fight to watch live, but I dont know how many times id want to see it.

The return of Evan Tanner was something for any diehard mma fan to take into consideration and watch with great interest. Coming out of a 2 year break, I was looking forward to Tanner to make his return. Too bad Okami is looking for a title shot and wont let Tanner walk through him. This fight let me down a little bit but the winner deserved it.

Talk about some great preliminary fights! Diego Sanchez, Josh Koshcheck, Luigi Fiovaranti, and Andrei Arlovski are all featured on fights and they were all great, although I believe a lot were mismatched.

    MAIN CARD
Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson (for the UFC Middleweight Title)
    Heath Herring vs. Cheick Kongo
    Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Leben
    Yushin Okami vs. Evan Tanner
    Chris Wilson vs. Jon Fitch

    PRELIMINARY CARD
    Jake O'Brien vs. Andrei Arlovski
    Luigi Fioravanti vs. Luke Cummo
    Dustin Hazelett vs. Josh Koscheck
    John Halverson vs. Jorge Gurgel
    David Bielkheden vs. Diego Sanchez

OVERALL-An excellent card and definately worth the price!

  1. The only thing I didn't like about this film was that it seemed like having a fight club at every party was normal for everyone at the school. The story went a different and better way than i expected it to go. The characters were explained in depth without getting to the point of being boring. Great fight scens and a good plot to back it up makes this movie a very good watch for anyone.

  2. A disgrace to mixed martial arts. Basically what it does is take karate kid and fast and the furious, add in anything in pop culture that would be considered the in thing, add in horrible acting, and you have a movie designed to just make a quick buck. Movie is complete garbage. Avoid it at all costs.

  3. In few words, good obeying homeboy treated badly by wrestling-skilled bully fulfils his dream in bitting a hooligan into a pulp.

Looking-a-bit-more-mature-than-school-boys actors' actions were being filmed professionally. These not so nice actions have been resulted in accordance with American dream, which is achieving ultimately a goal by a hard work.

Nice music and everyone likes everybody at the end of a movie, as some comedic sexual inclusions looked as much realistic as all this sweet story of an angry teen nock downing a much subtle and strong man.

  4. I love this movie, i saw it a week after it came out in theaters, and it was the last movie i saw this year. Ever since then i have been checkin g frequently to see when it was coming out on DVD. And now that i know i'm definetly marking my calendar's and buying it. but not the regular one, the two disc special extended beatdown one. Great Movie would I want others to see it as well. Oh yeah!

  5. Before anyone goes on bashing this movie as the next mma "Karate Kid" which it is, i'll say it was better than expected. The whole premise is rather stupid as others will write and they are right. But the fight scenes were good although unrealistic to think in under a couple of months anyone can beat an experienced fighter (just won't happen even if they are teenagers ect) I have been doing martial arts for years so i can back up what up say(bjj now, kung fu ect). I pretty much thought this movie would make every teenager think doing grappling would make them good fighters but you have to earn it(no one is going to walk into a bjj place and own anyone right out the gate especially with no or a little experience). I think the movie does a good representation of how much work is actually involved. And so what if the guy gets the girl in the end, its still Hollywood. Overall a good movie and its fairly entertaining, even some mma purists may agree. So what if its the "karate kid" for mma.. i'm still going to buy it :)
