1 comments about WING CHUN KUNG FU 6 - BIL JEE & APPLICATIONS.
  1. I was taking Wing Chun kung fu from a local instructor for a while but had to move. Where I moved they had no instructors, so I figured the best thing I could do was order some DVD's to keep my training accurate in as much as possible with a video. I was suprised how informative these dvd's could be.

    Pro's:
Each form is covered in great detail from different angles and both slow and fast so you know what to work for, while explaining each move along the way.
After covering the forms in detail, the dvd continues on showing the importance of each move and it's applications with sticky hands freestyle fighting.
You'll break a sweat after following the forms practice. Great exercise.

    Con:
Nothing beats real world practice from a qualified instructor.
The video obviously isn't a Dreamworks production. Still you dont miss a thing.

    summary:
If you're looking for something to have for study or home practice, this dvd is perfect. If you're new to Wing Chun, you really should have some real world training and use these as training aids. It's the only way to learn sticky hands fighting anyway.

    I ordered
WING CHUN KUNG FU 4 - SIL LUM TAU & APPLICATIONS
WING CHUN KUNG FU 5 - CHUM KIU & APPLICATIONS
WING CHUN KUNG FU 6 - BIL JEE & APPLICATIONS
WING CHUN KUNG FU 2 - WING CHUN STICKY HAND PRACTICE

  1. When you buy one of those DVD sets which include several films for a cheap price, you often get what you pay for; PRAY FOR DEATH is an outstanding case in point. THE UGLY: One reason why I got this one is NIGHT OF THE DEATH CULT, which is the fourth of the Blind Dead series, and I'm sorry to report that the picture quality is atrocious. It clearly came from a substandard videotape source, and is full of the sort of hideous artifacts that plagued budget VHS tapes. Let's hope for a better copy of this title someday soon. THE BAD: The prerelease info indicated that the notorious MARK OF THE DEVIL PART 2 was part of this package, but if you ordered it for that reason, you're going to be bumming, as DEATH CULT is the only announced title which is actually included...come on, guys! THE GOOD: As to the movies which ended up being included, THE WEREWOLF VS THE VAMPIRE WOMAN is a campy Paul Naschy vehicle which is entertaining in its goofy fashion. SISTERS OF DEATH features an odd performance by 1950s Sci-Fi hero Arthur Franz as he menaces, among others, the ill-fated Playboy model Claudia Jennings...this one offers better acting than usually seen in such low-budget fare. And, lastly, we have the ubiquitous SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA in a pretty decent letterbox print. I guess that Hammer (or whoever owns rights) must really not care about this title, judging from the number of cheap DVDs on which it can be found. All three of this group are watchable, if not exactly DVD demo material. VERDICT: All in all, it's OK for the price, but I'll be more wary in the future.

  2. This collection of four movies are horror movies they DO NOT CONTAIN SHO KOSUGI'S wonderful ninja movie of the same name
Pray for death (which was a superb ninja movie)
Amazon should correct this wrong listing

  3. This movie is NOT Sho Kosugis 'Pray For Death' Martial Arts action movie. This is a collection of 4 horror flicks and I was disappointed when I recieved this DVD. DO NOT order this item if you are a fan of Sho Kosugi's Ninja movies.

  4. Amazon, and you too IMDB...I beseech you to CORRECT this mistake in the listing. Sho Kosugi and cult horror are completely different entities, in case you failed to notice this fact.

Nonetheless, I may as well give this boxset a rating of some kind for including one of the 'Blind Dead' films. However, if you want the 'Blind Dead' films in excellent quality (unlike this thing), search for Blue Underground's boxset of all four films.

  5. PRAY FOR DEATH is a fairly typical small collection of primarily older Euro-fright films. These middling movies still hold some shocks here and there, however. A nice set for horror film completists.

    SYNOPSES:

"Night Of The Death Cult" - This fourth installment of the "Blind Dead" series has the Knights Templar haunting a fishing village.

"Satanic Rites Of Dracula" - The last entry in the Lee/Cushing Dracula series has modern-day Scotland Yard investigating a case of vampirism.

"Sisters Of Death" - A rather depressing class reunion of sorts is central to this film.

"The Werewolf And The Vampire Woman" - Lesbian vampires- what more could a boy ask for?

A similar BRENTWOOD DVD set is their CIRCUS OF DEATH 4 MOVIE PACK.

    .
Parenthetical numbers preceding titles are 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings found at a film resource website.

(5.5) Night Of the Death Cult (Spain-1975) - Victor Petit/Maria Kosta

    (5.2) Satanic Rites Of Dracula (UK-1974) - Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing/Joanna Lumley

    (4.1) Sisters of Death (1977) - Arthur Franz/Claudia Jennings/Cheri Howell

(4.8) The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Women (Spain/W Ger-1971) - Paul Naschy/Gaby Fuchs

1 comments about Iron Lion.
  1. This riveting film depicts the latter years of the Ming Dynasty and is filled with expert twists and turns of the plot keeping the viewer's attention in full focus from start to finish. The breath-taking artistically filmed scenery and colorful period costumes add a magical quality to the superbly choreographed martial arts fighting which flows naturally within the drama and plot of the film. There is a Lion Dance/Competition sponsored by a wealthy patron held in the city Zhao Qing. The event is very popular among the locals who relish watching the best martial arts fighters compete to win the golden ball. A very well regarded martial arts school and its opposition are the two main contenders for this great honor. The competition is so fierce that illegal gambling is encouraged and sponsored ... to the point of deliberately placing the odds in the favor of one side.

The best fighter of the Liu School of Martial Arts is ambushed and killed. His brother tries to discover who murdered his brother, which was labelled a suicide by a local investigation. The governor's daughter learned martial arts for health reasons and she gets involved trying to improve her skills. Wu, the wealthy patron ensures the gambling scheme is set up in his favor. The second best fighter of the Liu School, Ji Zhi, is viewed as a fierce contender and therefore set up as a thief and arrested ... Wu's daughter Rong, who is blind had attended the previous competition games with her servant. Rong is in love with Ji Zhi and has been for a long time, since childhood. Unexpectedly, the governor's daughter participates in martial arts fighting practice, demonstrating extraordinairy skills, disguised as a young man ... but she is discovered. Tension develops between Rong and the governor's daughter as each has their eyes and hearts set on winning Ji Zhi ...

The two best fighters of the main competing local martial arts schools secretly meet. They vow to be "worthy opponents". They will participate and fight only if the competition is fair and just. Meanwhile, Wu, Rong's father arranges for her to be examined by the best eye doctor of the province in order to cure her blindness. It is exactly around the time when the Lion Competition will take place. Rong manages to convince her father she needs to stay and witness the Lion competition. Unexpectedly, she is nearly kidnapped, by a stranger, someone she knew in the distant past. This event ties together many of the complex plots within the story. This surprise provides a creative and satisfactory twist to an already complex story. Naturally the plot thickens and he is ... of course, discovered and eliminated by Ji Zhi. The Governor's daughter is confronted in a most unexpected manner regarding her romantic feelings for Ji Zhi ... the dilemma is resolved ... without hurt feelings on anyone's side. This film has much depth and easy to miss subplots ... making it almost necessary to view more than once. It is quite amazing to discover how much one missed during the first viewing ... Anyone who enjoys this DVD would likely also appreciate The White Dragon. Erika Borsos [pepper flower]

5 comments about Deadly China Hero/Killer.
  1. I'm not sure what movie Amazon thinks this is, but it's actually a Wong Fei Hong pic starring Jet Li. And it's not his best, either. Yuen Woo-Ping did do the action choreography so it does have great fight scenes. Story was lacking though. Please, Amazon, try to get the titles and stars on these Chinese movies correct for once.

  2. Not widely regarded as an extension of the "Once Upon A Time In China" series, "Last Hero In China" tends to go unmentioned as far as guilty-pleasure entertainments go. I believe that the film's quality (though the Wong Jing humor is debatable) is right on par with the series, as once again Jet Li braids his hair to assume the identity of Wong Fei-Hung and rip some naughty miscreants a new one. Yes, Jet Li is in the role NOT Jackie Chan, as Amazon's blurb mistakenly implies. Though both actors have personified the role, it is in this film's final fight that I finally got to see Jet Li's bout at Drunken Boxing for my first time ever (thus the review's title). If he does it in older movies, I haven't seen it yet. But he demonstrates the stance with all the effortless acrobatic ability his legions of fans have grown accustomed to. Plus, Yuen "you only wish you could choreograph action like me" Woo-Ping offers us a shot at Fei-Hung delving into Chicken Style against a ten-man centipede, plus numerous other wire-fu goodies that'll put a stoned grin onto any viewers face.
No real special features on the disc to even mention save the inherent but ever-necessary widescreen, but then again I own the HK version. The only drawback...? Where's Auntie 13 (Rosamund Kwan)? She writes Fei-Hung a letter in the movie, but that's all we get. Sigh... But enjoy -- this is as ridiculously fun a movie as you could want from Sir Jet.

  3. This was such an awesome movie.

Remove everything you ever knew about the Once upon a time in china series from your head, except for Jet Li playing the serious Wong fei-hung. Then make this movie one of the craziest and funniest movies ever and stick Wong fei-hung in the middle of it. What you have is a very enjoyable movie. And as much as I did like it, the music was the best part for me. For those of you that know the OUATIC series, you know Tsui Hark was the first ones to put lyrics in a movie to the Wong fei-hung theme song. Well then Jing Wong was the second. Great Soundtrack.

All you people trying to stick through it all the way, please wait until the end fight.

  4. But if you are a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Jet Li playign wong fei-hung, like I am, then this will be a VERY funny movie for you.

The story starts out with a some outlaws being chased by the government, and these guys are pretty tough. One of the guys took a guard by the head and threw his body onto like a shelf or something and the guys body cripples in half like he was holding a pillow.

You are going to get a lot of that type of action. I am a HUGE fan of the old school peking style that Lau Kar Leung used, I love the hand to hand. And while you don't get too much of that, you get enough and the stunt are really cool.

Now my favorite part of this movie are the ones where he has this CRAZY general talking to Wong, I can't even explain the way the guy was acting, it was sow eird and it was also kinda cool. So Jet is sitting in a chair and the general is asking to see his kung fu skills and the general is so close to the face(on purpose of course) to Jet's face you can just see how great of an actor for making it this whole scene without busting out laughing. CAUSE THE GENERAL WAS THE MAN, HE IS THE ONE WHO MAKES THIS MOVIE FUNNY, JUST TRY TO TELL ME THAT THIS IS NOT THE GREATEST VOICE ACTING JOB IN THE HISTORY OF DUBBING, but I will get back to this when I tell you the dvd that you should seek out.

So I don't want to give the story away cause it's not that great but very very funny.

So like I said in another review of this, remove everything you knew about the OUATIC series except leave wong as a serious guy. Then make everything that happens around him just a strait up slap stick comedy and see how wong react, it is absolutely hilarious.

Now I wanna go over some of the reasons you should see this movie.

    WONG FEI-HUNG VS. MASTER KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beardy and bucktooth reunited, to know about this you have to go 11 years before this film was made and watch legend of a fighter. It is my favorite MA movie EVER, and I have a review on this on the vhs side under secret master. The chemistry was absolutely beautiful in that movie.

IF YOU ARE A FAN OF JET LI, THEN I SHOULD GO AHEAD AND TELL YOU THIS IS MY 2ND FAV JET LI AS WONG MOVIE EVER. so in other words I rate it #2 out of the 5 he was in.

BUT I ALSO RATE THIS MOVIE ABOVE LEGEND 1 AND 2, ENFORCER, EVIL CULT, KISS OF THE DRAGON, OK I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE LISTED THE ONES I LIKE MORE INSTEAD CAUSE THIS IS LIKE A TOP 3 JET MOVIE FOR ME.

I'm not a fan of most of of Jing Wong's stuff, but this one I feel is one of his better efforts, ALSO JET'S ACTING PERFORMANCE IN THIS RIVALS THE 1ST OUATIC MOVIE. SO DEFINITELY ONE OF HIS BEST ACTING JOBS.

Now the dvd that I have is 105 MINUTES LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i mean it wass almost too freaking long for me, now how often does that happen in kung fu. How many people said in secret rivals like oh I wish they would have cut out some of the training sequences or that funny part could have gone or the final fight could have been a bit shorter? The version that I have is from Red Sun. It is full screened but the movie has a very good picture and the full screened seriously does not even affect anything!

SO OVERALL A VERY WEIRD MOVIE AND YEAH JUST VERY WEIRD. BUT DEFINITELY FOR ANY JET LI FAN, SO PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO SEEK THIS OUT AND DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION, CAUSE IT SI NOTHING BUT BAD REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also the sountrack to this is the freaking shiznit.

  5. I am writing this review without having even seen the movie itself, for the shock I got as I received this product was enough. I got the dvd, and the first thing that hit me was that the cover did not fit on the box well.. why? because it was printed on a home printer, and when I opened it, the product itself apparently was burned at home as well. Basically, I paid for an original movie and got a bootleg.

1 comments about Tai-chi-Chuan: Movements of Power DVD.
  1. This DVD teaches the 60 movement "Yang Short Form". It shows the entire form once and then breaks down each movement into classroom training. It seems like it was taped during classes at the teacher's school. The best part of this program is that it shows students making mistakes and being corrected so you can be aware of the mistakes you, too, might make. Each movement is also shown from a rear and side view with instructions on sinking and rising, and when to breathe in and out.
