5 comments about UFC Vol 13.
- Two 4-man tournaments and a superfight. The fight between Mezger and Leninger is slow. If Leninger didn't wear a gi, it might have been more interesting. Inuoe versus Alger was sweet, but what the hell happened to Inuoe for the finals? Randy Coture was very impressive, taking out two giants, including Tony 'First I'll try to punch him as hard as I can. Then I'll headbutt him as hard as I can. If that doesn't work, I'll rip his arm off or his leg off or something.' Halme. Watch the Belfort-Abbott suerfight. See Tank decide that he doesn't want to punch with his smaller opponent. See Tank unable to grapple with his smaller opponent. See Tank shake his opponent's hand! A night of surprises!
- this event sets the stage for ufc 15. couture debuts and looks terrific, vitor shuts tanks beer filled mouth, and mezger gets a win which he doesn't deserve. tito shows the ufc its most useful version of the side cradle. the superfight alone is worth the price
- I have to say that Ultimate force (UFC 13)is really a video that all fans of the Ufc should watch. the matches are really that good. They are broken into weight divisions, but the hits are good. The highlight of the video is Randy Couture, a wrestler from Oregon, I believe, who takes Greco-Roman Wrestling to a new height with his Awesome performance against Steve Graham. You will be amazed, I guarantee you, once you witness the heavyweight bout between these two gentlemen (Graham vs Couture.) recommended ufc video to all women and males who are into the sport, or to those who are looking for great fight matches-on vhs.
- I thought this was one of the best UFC's. Vitor Belfort is amazing. I like how Mezger took a pretty good beating and then was able to slip a guillotine choke on Ortiz to win the championship. And yes, Mezger deserved it. It wasn't his or Tito's fault that the Referee stood them up. John Mcarthy's main job is the safety of the fighters. Mezger was bleeding bad and it was thought that they were going to stop the fight, but they easily stopped the bleeding and Tito made a mistake. Anyways, this is a great tape. I would buy this.
- On May 30, 1997, the Octagon landed in Augusta, Georgia for one of the best shows the UFC has ever put on. The Lightweight tournament featured really skilled fighters, Cristophe Leninger, an expert in Judo, Guy Mezger, an excellent kickboxer and veteren in the octagon, Royce Alger, a wrestler from Iwoa State, and Enson Inoue, a shooto fighter from Japan. This was a great tournament and had the first apperance of Tito Ortiz inside the Octagon. The Heavyweight tournament also featured some good fight and the debut of Randy Cotour. However, the Superfight was awesome. It was style against Guile as Vitor Belfort took on Tank Abbott. What a battle. Overall, a great show. Worth the buy

1 comments about Exit the Dragon, Enter the Tiger.
- I actually own both versions of this movie. This film was originally released as "Bruce Lee Star of Stars" in Cantonese(which can be found on the Return of the Dragon Pack with 3 other such Bruceploitation flicks), but for the purpose of marketing and promoting Ho Chuong Tao(Bruce Li) in the U.S., it was re-cut, dubbed over and released as "Exit the Dragon, Enter the Tiger." Predictably, in either case...the film begins with Tiger(Bruce Li) meeting up with Bruce Lee(Bruce Li) and Betty Ting Pei during a movie shoot about 3 days before his passing. On the set he's having multiple headaches, tells Tiger about mysterious phone calls, and deems Tiger as his successor in the event of his death. In either version, Bruce's death leads to Tiger's own investigation into what turns out to be Bruce's murder and his findings lead him into a mafia-like conspiracy that ends with Tiger battling the Baron, who lures him into a duel of the death by kidnapping Betty Ting Pei and his(Tiger's) girlfriend and holding them hostage.
Honestly, the only thing that cheese up the film as that they're exploiting the mysterious circumstances surrounding Bruce Lee's death and incorporate the use of actual, real-life personalities into the plot, meaning we see the fictionalized torturing of Betty Ting Pei my syndicate thugs, meetings between Tiger and Betty Ting Pei, pictures in her apartment with love notes from Bruce Lee, a mysterious recording of a supposed phone conversation about Bruce's murder, etc. However, the action is there, and I was particularly impressed with the quality of product. This one's a keeper not just because of the action, but because it's a 2006 re-issue and the best, remastered Bruce Li flick since Anchor Bay re-released Goodbye Bruce Lee:His Last Game of Death(Bruce Li). Only thing is that you can't fast fwd and there are no chapter selections, but overall, good movie, good quality, just falls short of a 5 in my book for being Bruceploitation as opposed to an authentic Ho Chuong Tao production.

5 comments about Thundering Mantis (Chk Sen).
- Obviously some of the reviewers here has lost their minds, or simply do not understand the genre. The last fight scenes of this film put it at the TOP of my list of Old school kung fu movies. The last time I saw this film was working as a projectionist at the theater in 1984. Have never forgotten this classic. I have no ideas why the dub may be "unacceptable" to some people, but this film is SIMPLY INCREDIBLE. If you do not understand the genre, and realize there will be bad dubbing and bad dialog, FIND another film genre to occupy your time. This film can only be appreciated by those who understand what a kung fu movie is all about! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. P.S. I wrote my master's thesis on martial arts films, so I might know what I am talking about...
- WOW!!! I inadvertently came across this flick, just reading the reviews on few of Leung Kar Yan movies. This movie actually got a 4 stars,,,ARE YOU KIDDIND ME!! Who are you people actually grading, and giving reviews on old school kung fu flicks?? Apparently, you have no idea what great Kung Fu Movies are all about. This is the worse performance from the great Leung Kar Yan, infact I was embarrast just watching this great kung fu expert perform like he's having a siezure, and at the same time getting his ass kicked throughout the flick. This movie was a painful experience for me!! Accordingly, the two most impressive person in this flick was the villian, "Eddie Kao" and the kid "Wong Yat Lung" he did the most amazing drunken mantis I've seen in a while, which was sufficient to give this flick 2 stars.
Leung Kar Yan choreographed in approximately 29 flicks,,,I've seen 23 so far,,TRUST ME this is not a 4 star performance from him! If you really want to see a Leung Kar Yan grand performance, I suggest you see ' Cantonese Iron Kung Fu" or "The Sleeping Fist",,,you will not be dissapointed!!
- Movie uses splice and cutting to make actors seem like they are doing moves they are not.
Terrible kung fu is displayed.
Watch it once to see what a bad kung fi movie is.
I would have given it 0 stars ecpect the lead actor (Beardy) is a good actor.
- 'Thundering Mantis' is like a lot of old school movies where the director would shoot films simultaneously or one right after the other. This movie is basically the companion to 'Sleeping Fist'. It has all of the same actors except that Chien Yuet San sort of replaces Simon Yuen as the old man character. It feels a lot like the same movie but the plot is just reworked.
Leung Kar Yan stars as Ah Chi and works at a place that sells fresh fish. He doesn't care about his job but loves to get into fights. He befriends a mischevious young boy and goes to learn kung fu from the boy's grandfather(Chien Yuet San). The 12 year old young boy you will for sure recognize from 'Sleeping Fist'. His flexibility is just insane and he can pull off some incredible moves, but he is a bit underused.
Because of his fighting earlier in the movie, Ah Chi is being chased by the boss of the town and his gang. When Ah Chi proves to be tougher than they expected, the head boss comes to take down all comers. If you thought Eddy Ko was good at all in 'Sleeping Fist' or 'Hitman in the Hand of Buddha', you can expect an even better performance. He is as ruthless as can be as the villian. He is so ruthless that in the final fight, Leung Kar Yan has reason to literally go insane.
Overall this movie is not as good as 'Sleeping Fist' but the final fight is better and the intensity in the finale will please any hard core kung fu fan. It is a very unique scene and has an ending you won't believe. DON't MESS WITH THE MANTIS!
The movie itself is somewhat of a bore but it does have a lot of good corny fun. Don't expect a great movie, but it has good fights. Chien Yuet San's mantis is good but it is the finale that makes this a true classic.
I have the Xenon version of this which is full screened and picture quality is bad but accetable. There is a widescreened version available from M.I.A. It is a Hong Kong release but the disc is all region meaning you can play it on any DVD player. Or at least you should be able to. ANyway you can see it, it is worth at least one watch.
- A very good movie. It was sad, but I loved it. It was very different.

1 comments about Snake Strikes Back/Black Eagle's Blade.
- this is one of the worst boxed sets that I have ever purchased, but I would rate this the 2nd best disc in the set.
Black eagles blade--HORRIBLE transfer of a movie with imbedded subs that are not worth even trying to read. This is one of those independent productions that manages to put some really good sword fights on sceen, I just wish that I was able to see them.
Snake strike back-this is why I bought this collection and although the picture quality was fine, I didn't know it was a Godfrey Ho movie. Well, I've mentioned that guys name so I guess I don't really need to say anything else, except the fact that this is one of his few watchable movies, and it's only cause eagle han has such a good screen presence.
By the way the only good disc in this collection is the one that has fistful of talons and kung-fu zombie on it, thank god I got 1 watchable movie from this "collection".

2 comments about Pride FC 3 - From the Nippon Budokan.
- Pride 3 was on June 24, 1998 at the Nippon Budokan
The first fight is between Lumax Cup 1997 and Pride veteran Akira Shoji and in his MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) debut Daijiro Matsui. This was a great fight and I would like to see a rematch. The second fight is between UFC 3 veteran Emmanuel Yarborough and in his MMA debut Daiju Takase. Terrible fight but the ending is good. The third fight is between UFC Japan Tournament winner and Pride veteran Kazushi Sakuraba and Extreme Fighting 2, Japan Vale Tudo and UFC 17 veteran Carlos Newton. This is the best fight of the show. The fourth fight is between UFC 8 finalist and IVC 1 Tournament winner Gary Goodridge and in his MMA debut Amir Rahnavardi. Good and brutal fight. The fifth fight is between UFC 14 and 15 heavyweight tournament winner and WVC 3 tournament winner Mark Kerr and International Vale Tudo Championship and Universal Vale Tudo veteran Pedro Otavio. Ok fight but this was mismatch. The main event is between Pride 1 veteran Nobuhiko Takada and in his MMA debut Kyle Sturgeon. Short fight but decent. I recommend for who like Pride.
- Only get this DVD if you appreciate ground fighting. The Sakuraba fight is amazing. the skill that him and Newton display on the mat is ridiculous. The rest of the fight card is quite boring. If you have the money to spend on this DVD, than you will be treated to one of the most entertaining grappling matches in PRIDE history.

- Waise Lee(Xiong) and Alex Fong(Cheng) are considered brothers and are part of a crime family. Because of the outstanding work they have done, it has been decided that their father(the mob boss) will appoint one of them to become the new leader of the gang. Cheng(Alex Fong) is appointed, but he thinks that it should have been his brother. His father gets very angry and orders him to leave after he disagrees. He moves on but there is a gang that takes over his old gang's business in the area he is living in now. Cheng is staying with the sister of this rival gang's leader. He is not a big time gangster or anything, but it is a movie so we just have to believe that anybody can come up in the ranks at anytime. So he has cleaned up his life, but all of this new stuff just kind of falls right on top of him. You just have to sort of go with it. Again, it is a movie, and certainly not a perfect one. Cheng's brother is now the new boss and he says that his brother is not to be harmed. But then, Xiong(Waise Lee) pulls out a new plot point about his other brothers stealing money from their gang. He goes to resolve this before dealing with his brother. This is really just injected into the movie to create a gang war and have a lot of bloodshed on screen. Hey, my kind of movie! A Chinese and a Japanese gang battle it out. But, it is just another Triad movie, so if you know the genre, you can probably fill in a lot of the missing pieces in the story that I left out. Here is a couple lines from the film if you don't know what I am talking about- Gang Leader says-"Why should we open the door?" The other gang leader responds-"How can we talk if the door is closed?". It is like the same movie every time, you just have to go with it. A little more flair than most, which is the only thing that stood out to me. It is worth sticking around to the end. I was not disappointed only because I could tell what kind of movie it was going to be.
It was great to see Lo Lieh as one of the supporting characters. He is old in this movie, but he shows that he can still move in the action scenes pretty well. He is like 50 years old and still whooping on people! Most people will remember him as Pei Mei and he was in just about every other old school kung fu movie ever made. For sure one of my favorite actors up until the last movie he was in. The acting overall is above average for all of the male stars at least. I always love Alex Fong, and Waise Lee gives a very good performance. He is known for being in John Woo movies. Fung Shui-Fan from Sammo's Lucky Stars series stars also. It is directed by Chor Yuen who is famous for his lengthy list of movies that he made at Shaw Brothers. He mainly did movies based on wuxia novels. He is a good director, but his movies can be slow moving. Not your average kung fu director, and I like a lot of his movies. 'Killer Clans' to name 1. Like always, he lives up to being a slow storyteller, but this movie has it's moments.
The action is good. Good gun battles and a couple brawls. Alex Fong looks outstanding in the brief scenes where he gets to show off. It sticks to the guns so the longest real fight sequence is about a minute.
3/5, or 6/10. However people rate movies.
The picture quality from Image Entertainment is very nice. Not perfect, but among the best quality you will find for ANY company that sells foreign movies. Hardly any blemishes at all. Nicely widescreened and good sound quality also. It is really starting to make me mad that they are not including the Cantonese tracks. The synchronization does seem off. It is a small thing but it would be nice to have a Mandarin AND Cantonese track on at least some of their DVD's since this movie seems like it was meant to be seen with the Cantonese sound. I am sure the purists understand.

5 comments about Fist of Fear, Touch of Death.
- Unlike me, you have the help of these hilarious reviews to spell it out for you: this is a very uproarious rip-off of Bruce Lee. It's kinda like Shaft and Tiger Lily sitting down to dinner at the Cleaver's. It's so shockingly bad, it's good. I paid a buck for a copy. It was a good price.
- This has to be one of those intentionally bad films. They mislead you by saying it's about Bruce Lee's career. Pretty much everything is fake, but they didn't really try to hide this fact. The setting is the 1979 World Karate Championships at Madison Square Garden where the successor to Bruce Lee is supposed to be determined as a result of media attention. Bruce Lee actually died several years before. Before you know it, they go to the halftime show that depicts Bruce's early days and his great grandfather, who was one of the best samurai swordfighters of the 19th century. The flashback of Bruce's great grandfather in color is most likely re-dubbed scenes from a fictional film set in ancient China, not the 19th century, where the martial artists have unrealistic abilities. The scenes depicting Bruce's early days in black and white have nothing to do with the karate lessons that the poorly dubbed dialogue is talking about, since the characters just sit around and do nothing the whole time. Anyway, everyone knows samurai are not from China or the 19th century. Adolf Caesar mentions Bruce Lee as the king of kung fu in the beginning, but in the flashbacks and other parts, they say that Bruce does karate, which is also from Japan and not China. A karate tournament that happens every year hardly seems to be appropriate in determining the succesor to Bruce's title, especially since the championship fight that lasts only two rounds features two fighters who are probably no better than the couch potatoes in your local martial arts class. Perhaps even more insulting than a karate match resembling a boxing match determining the king of kung fu title is that the suggestion that the winner might inherit Bruce Lee's supposed curse, the touch of death. At least the main characters had the decency to conclude that the event could not live up to Bruce Lee's legacy.
The convesations with Bruce Lee are two or more scenes of a person alternated between each other, with the words edited and entirely different backgrounds. When Bruce is supposed to be showing Aaron Banks his new move, they simply cut to Aaron Bank's face and play some fake karate noise in the background. The two of them don't even wear the same clothes throughout the whole conversation. The fight scenes where Ron Van Clief and Bill Louie beat up sex crazy street gangs teaming up on women joggers in parks are entertaining, but not very impressive. The main events are skinny guys in pajamas sparring with each other, rather than the promised highlights from Bruce Lee's career. The demonstrators need protective gear for kicks, but if Bill Louie tosses someone's eyes to the crowd, it's just part of the show. Aaron Banks demonstration of the touch of death or vibrating palm turns out to be nothing more than breaking a board with his fist. Fred Williamson is supposed to be starring with Bruce Lee, which of course is no longer possible, but he doesn't even do any fighting in this film. And his "girlfriend", who looks like she got a face transplant and had all the color bleached from her skin, begs him to satisfy her. Why would Fred be sleeping with someone he doesn't want to have sex with? He gets mistaken for Harry Belafonte, just like how every Chinese film ever made happens to be about Bruce Lee in this movie. In some versions, there is a Casper the Ghost cartoon in the special features, which is apparently just for the sake of having special features. Even though it's a cheap film, there's no excuse for the Chinese samurai and other blatant inaccuracies. After the tournament is over, Adolph Caesar says it's good that Bruce can no longer be beaten and asks "why should we try to topple his legacy", which is exactly what this film is doing.
- First off the movie is an obvious comedy that knows it is being funny. It IS a funny movie that is a piss take on all the fake Bruce Lee movies being done at the time. The violence is comic to start with. Scenes like the eyeballs are played for laughs. Making Lee's voice fem was an obvious joke too, as was his "Samurai" background. The black and white footage IS Bruce as a child actor. Redubbed to be satirically biographical it cuts between the old film and the 70s B Samurai movie in a direct parody of "The Real Bruce Lee". The skits are meant to be funny as are the would be attackers. There are some real martial arts in the film by excellent practitioners and the point of the whole movie is that you should be yourself. The message is use Bruce to inspire you but be your own self in martial arts and in acting. I liked this very much its fun cheese that doesn't take itself seriously.
- This is not a real Bruce Lee film. Some people said it was funny, but it is really just horrible. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. The extra cartoon "Casper" is probably the best part. If you want real Bruce Lee fighting action, you may have to spend more than $4.99.
- I thanked him and said nothing. I had already viewed this "Messterpiece" long before on one of those "Mega" collections of Martial Arts movies. Yes, Masterpiece is miss spelled on purpose, so no coments please. As for this junk, skip it and watch "Game Of Death", As bad as it is, its better than this crap!!!!!!!!!!

- This DVD is in SUPER full-frame. Super here is not a good word. It's headache inducing how it's so zoomed in. The movie itself is supposed to be a classic, but you will have no opportunity to tell as it is impossible to see any of what's going on on this DVD print. Cross your fingers and hope somebody else puts it out in better form.
- This movie was your standard revenge plot just that the genders are reversed. I don't mind Judy Lee, but there is no reason she should be given a starring role. She doesn't have near a strong enough screen presence to carry a movie. Her martial arts skills are average but she only has a couple of expressions and this really kills it. Not that the story was helPing her though.
The first thing I have to comment on is how when the fighting starts you just hear all these blurred sounds of ehoes liek- eee-yaaa, ohhhh. Super pitiful, the dubbing isn't the worst but the echoing definitely means I will never put myself through this unpleasent experience again.
The dvd is in super full frame and I have become too used to pan and scan jobs over all these years of watching these. If it was a good movie, I would have given it a good rating. The zooming was worse than normal though. So I will give the mvoei a 3 and the dvd a 1. It is just too cool watching Judy Lee spinning around killing everybody with her double knives in the final fight.
SO DO NOT BUY THIS AND SEEK OUT A GOOD VERSION!!!!!!!!!!
