  1. I found this movie in the bargain bin and got it on DVD for (money)- at that I was ripped off! Cynthia Rothrock plays only a minor role in this "Golden Boy" rip-off (although probably it predates that movie). The fight scenes are no better than average and the dubbing diabolical. I can think of no reason that would pursuade me to part with nearly (dollar amount) for this fiasco!

  2. This is a comedy NOT a drama. It is the funniest movie to ever come out of China and is on my personal Top Ten List of funniest movies of all times. This movie is best watched with a really good buzz! Im serious this movie is funyy with a capital F.

  1. I didn't see much of this movie, but what I saw was pretty good. One of our females also thought that it was porn-o-licious.

  2. This is a low budget action movie that didn't quite come together. Cynthia Rothrock kicked booty as usual, but Fred Williamson and his character are unmemorable. The supposed budding romance between the Rothrock and Williamson characters lacked chemistry and thankfully there was no sex scene to strain credibility further. The plot is better than the usual martial arts movie, and this movie tries hard to be more than a kick-flick (the recovering alcoholic subplot comes to mind) but the overall story was not compelling.

This movie is worth renting for Rothrock's martial arts skills, but it is not worth owning unless you can find it in the bargain bin.

  3. Oh my God this movie is so bad it's great. I never thought anyone could get so many bad cop cliches in one movie:

    a) Two complete opposites get paired up together.
    b) Willy Will Williamson gets shot and has to open his vest to show that he had a bulletproof vest.
    c) Mr. Williamson has a drinking problem.
    d) Fantastic Fred hates his chief.

I'd like to stop here, but the flaws in this movie are high-larious.
    a) The WHOLE motorcycle scene. (It's quite obvious that those black things on the ground are exploding.
    b) After Fred avoids the bombs, if you look in the background, there are no flames.
    c) The song: "Dakota Smith, you're 1, 2, 3, 4, 12 Steps away!"
    d) After Dak shoots some dude IN THE HEAD Quick Draw-McGraw turns to him in amazement "He's Dead!!!!" Thanks toots.
    e) Oh yeah her last name is not McGraw!
    f) The disgustingly huge fat guys that hook up with the playboy bunnyesque chicks. Come on!
    g) Newt (the midget.) His role is Oscar worthy.
    h) The Video Stalker Barney the Dinosaur is more threatening
    i) Video Stalkers death (sorry to ruin the end, but I think you'll see it coming.) His exact words "I'm out of bullets (drops the gun)"

There's more, believe me. Watch it for yourself for a great laugh. Trust me this one is right up there with Satan's Children and Shark Attack 3: Megaladon-The Terror has Risen.

  4. I purchased this for $2 at a local video store thinking it would be enjoyable on an ironic level. It's just a waste--though I'll give it two stars since Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys is in it.

  1. UK born Toby Russel is considered an expert on HK cinema even in HK itself and his knowledge is put to great use in the documentaries he produces like this one and the "Top Fighter" series (recommended). Although fairly cheaply produced this doc contains many interesting clips and interviews with the stars from the famous to the not so famous. If yoy're interested in learning more about HK cinema then this is recommended and be sure to also check out the "Top Fighter" tapes as well.

  1. Cynthia Rothrock is a terriffic sport Tae-kwon do champion. she does know how to fight. but she refuses to show any of her skill in her movies where every move thrown is slow and impractical. The plot of this movie is unforgivingly slow. Rothrock still tries to depend on her good looks for sales dispite that her ravishing model body has aged her into a 40 year old average woman who thows attacks the same way as would an amature. I think her name would mean a lot more if she stuck to sport competitions and stoped hurting herself making awful movies.

  2. Richard Norton and Cynthia Rothrock co-starred in movies before
"Rage and Honor", such as Samo Hung's "Millionaire's Express",
but "Rage" established the charismatic pair as the Bogie and Bacall of martial arts movies. The chemistry of the two leads is
undeniable in this swiftly entertaining actioner about an Australian (Norton) set up falsely for a murder charge in L.A.
Norton's pursuit for exoneration pairs him with Rothrock in a battle against their criminal couterparts, played by Catherine Bach and Brian Thompson. Eccentric characters from the L.A. underground assist the leads in their mission, and the movie shrewdly punctuates the action-charged pace with light moments.
An actor of integrity, Norton delivers a performance with integrity as the unfairly accused Aussie. Thanks to the appeal
of both stars, "Rage and Honor" remains a rarely equaled martial
arts movie, even ten years after its initial release.

  3. Rage & Honor is one of those martial arts films that keeps you guessing throughout the movie - is this good or does this stink. I felt this way every other 5 minutes, convinced it was a decently made film, only to be disspointed at some point with mostly slow pacing or really low-average fight action that stars like Cythina Rothrock and Richard Norotn could do better with. But then again, the camera angles, directing, and editing wouldn't be able to show off a good fight if one was achieved. Overall, this is an average film at best, with several little disspointments thrown in.

Perhaps the best thing about Rage & Honor is the story, which is not saying a whole lot. Richard Norton plays a cop named Preston, who is wanted for a drug deal shooting that went sour, involving other cops and the girlfriend of the movie's villain - Conrad Drago played by Brian Thompson (Lionheart, The Order, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) A boy catches the whole act on tape, proving Preston's innocence, but the bad guys are desperate to get the tape into their hands. Kris Fairfield (Rothrock) comes to the aid of Preston, and eventually revealing her relation to Drago - which was a nice touch of originality. Unfortunately, pacing is very slow at times, and after an hour I was begging to see a good final fight already to save the movie.

There is an average amount of fight action in the film, but everything is just an average bang-em-up fight without a whoe lot of style. Brian Thomson makes a formiddable villain, but in the end I thought he was just average too. The final fight of the film begins with Rothrock against Thomson in what is a highly unenjoyable fight due to the camera zooming way in on some shots, then way out on others. The editing is bad too, making it look like pieces of kicks and punches were thrown together. Cythina has 2 decent moves, but its not enough to call this a worthy fight. Fortunately, Richard Norton gets a chance against Thompson too, but this time everyhthing is in close & slow motion, followed by a very poorly executed finish to the fight.

If not for Rothrock & Norton, this movie would bomb. They do have somewhat of a chemistry between them, which is why they have managed to appear together in other films such as the sequal to this one. Rage & Honor isn't a bad movie, its just not an exciting one. Its not overly cheesy either, except for maybe elements of the final fight. I'd watch it to see for yourself what you think, but I highly doubt a 2nd viewing would happen any time soon.

  1. I watched this after watching Royal Warriors (aka In the Line of Duty II, also with Michelle Yeoh) and this film was great as well. Yes, Madam(aka In the Line of Duty or Police Assassins) is about two top police women from their respective countries teaming up to retrieve a micro film which is evidence to put away some mob guy. Well, he's a bad guy with a lot of bodyguards and thats all you need to know. As the ...reviewer said, this is sort of like Rush Hour in reverse. The fighting is ever so awesome and brutal, I cringed several times during this one. Cynthia Rothrock shows a lot of her best stuff here, and Michelle is awesome as usual. .... The last fighting scenes are just magical with great production by Sammo Hung; plenty of crazy kick stunts and flips. However, the dvd isnt the greatest sound wise. It seems some of the sound effects were toned down, and the supposed 5.1 dolby isn't very noticable at all. If you got a Region 2 dvd player w/ PAL converter, then get Hong Kong Legends version which is under the name Police Assassins, I believe the sound was redone and the picture quality is second to none. Tsiu Hark and Sammo both make humorous guest appearances in the film as well. If you liked Royal Warriors, you'll love this and besides, its the prequel to Royal. I believe any martial arts fan will be impressed by this one. Check out Michelles other greats such as Wing Chun, Royal Warriors, CTHD (Crouching Tiger...duh), Magnificent Warriors. The only other Cynthia Rothrock movie that I could safely recommend is Righting Wrongs which is totally awesome. I would definitely recommend a buy with all these titles including Yes, Madam...check it out...hope this and my other HK flicks reviews are helpful.

  2. This is a bad movie. All scenes are funny and stupid. I do not like that kind of Chinese joke in this film. It is dirty and does not make any sense. I regreted to buy it.

  3. It is bad movie. Most of sences are joke stupidly and non-sense. At the beginning of the film indicated a dirty kind of joke that is usually see in Asian movies. It is very cheap joke for low class audiences.

  4. this was a fun movie michelle yeoh is in it, that's all that matters. i just wished that they would stop with the subtitles and dub it in english for region 1 viewers.

  5. Now some people may have been seriously injured on this film. There are scenes where a stuntman will fall HARD. I am talking about his head bouncing off of the ground a couple of times!

So the story in this movie is pretty bad, but the girly humor between Rothrick and Yeoh is as bad as it gets. Yeoh isn't so bad but Cynthia Rothrick is truly hard to watch. But then she gets to fighting and it is all good. She is nowhere near the level of performer as evrybody else in the movie but she is definitely one of the top American woman kung fu stars ever.

So Michelle has one of the best stunts ever and their are a few more in the movie to match that. While the story is really really bad, the final fight is a lot of fun. Dick Wei(Project A) has always been a good screen fighter and Chung Fat shows up as this really stupid character but he can also fight really well. So as long as you don't go into this expecting a gripping movie you should be OK. Not a ton of fights but the end I had to watch a couple of times. Good outing for Michelle Yeoh's first time doing action on screen.

  1. This movie is a martial arts/suspense thriller starring don niam
(the psychotic martial artist)and the very skilled and sexy cynthia rothrock. The movie has good plot and the acting isnt bad on the parts of don niam and cynthia rothrock. This movie gave me the chills the first time i saw it.Definatly a must see unfortunately this move was made during the wrong decade. This movie would have been more popular if it was made during the 80's not the 90's.

  2. Perhaps one of the funniest martial arts films you'll see. I was dying from laughter the entire time.

  3. This is the movie that is rocking everyone's face off on youtube. I ordered it, skeptically, thinking that even if it isn't Undefeatable, it would probably still be laughably bad. But it is Undefeatable, so if you want 88 minutes of solid gold, order it now.

  4. this movie is sooo poor that it is fun. it is the kind of movie tou watch with ur boys drinkin beer on a friday night to have a good laugh before you go to the club

  5. Yes, this is THE Undefeatable, one of the best cheesy movies ever made. Godfrey Ho's modern day masterpiece. The acting is beyond horrible, and the way the actors deliver their lines is bound to cause laughter.

The movie starts off with a woman talking to her psychiatrist about her abusive husband Paul. She says Paul used to be a mechanic but has changed since he became a fighter. He fights in death matches and thinks he is undefeatable. Paul is nicknamed Stingray. He gets home one day and sexually abuses his wife. She finally leaves him and Stingray goes crazy. He starts kidnapping any woman that has a flower dress and red hair like his wife. The cops start to take notice after finding the women dead. There are a lot of clues, but these cops are not the brightest people. Ray Niam, an unknown actor to me, plays the cop that is investigating the murders.

Cynthia Rothrock is a gang member who fights on the street to earn money. She has a job as a waitress but needs the extra money to pay for her sister's college tuition. Her sister just so happens to have red hair and wears a flower dress. She is kidnapped and killed, and Rothrock teams up with the cop to take down the killer.

The fight scenes are not too bad. Stingray is hilarious. He is very muscular, kind of looks like Michael Douglas, and has a crazy mullet fro thing going on. His acting is so bad that he comes across as being mentally handicapped. He is not believable at being scary, but he is still a lot of fun to watch. His movements are very akward and his facial expressions had me bursting out with laughter.

The first fight scene introduces Ray Niam as the cop. This guy is a horrible actor. He never shows any emotion, and his acting performance is actually funny because you can tell he is trying his hardest, yet he does everything wrong. So the first fight has him taking out 2 goons who are robbing a convenience store. This fight is pretty good, but only about 10 seconds long. Ray Niam does some good handwork and takes out both guys quickly.

Next fight has Rothrock fighting a rival gang member. The fight itself is decent, but what is going on around the fight is much more interesting. The audience starts clapping and stomping a concrete wall in a rhythmic beat. Godfrey Ho really knows how to set the mood.

Next fight has Stingray killing some guy and kidnapping his girlfriend. Nothing special about this fight. It's too short, and the actor who plays Stingray doesn't seem to know what choreography is. He does his own thing. There is an nice stunt at the end of the fight, but that's it.

Then Rothrock has another planned fight. She goes up against a big guy who wears football pads and charges at her like a football player. Rothrock kicks him a few times and beats him easily. Somehow Stingray spots the football player and his girlfriend going home from the fight with Rothrock. The girl is wearing a flower dress and has red hair so Stingray goes over to their trailer and beats the guy up. But he doesn't take the girl. I think Godfrey Ho just forgot. This fight is over quickly. The football player is so bad he actually makes Stingray look good with a few of his punches.

In the next scene Stingray sees Rothrock's sister with her red hair and flower dress. This is one of the better fights of the movie, but too short only lasting about 30 seconds. Stingray looks tough and there is a good stunt.

Now that her sister is dead, Rothrock tries to find the killer by challenging gangs to fights. She goes up against an eagle claw performer. I like the idea of having the eagle claw guy wear actual claws, but the choreography is only average.

The next guy Rothrock challenges is not bad. They have a good fight but it is cut too short and turns into a bad group fight. There are a couple good stunts but the choreography is slow.

The final fight is Stingray vs the cop. This is as bad as fight choreography gets. These guys do not work well together. There is no chemistry and none of their attacks look believable. The cop is always putting his hand up to block kicks and punches before Stingray even attacks. Midway through they decide to take off their shirts for some reason. I guess Godfrey Ho was hoping the audience would look at the guys chests instead of the terrible fight that is going on. So the fight is bad, but very funny.

If you are a hardcore fighting fan, then this will disappoint. If you like really cheesy movies then you will love this. The final scene may just be the best scene in the movie. Rothrock decides to enroll all of her gang member friends into college. So is Rothrock going to college? She says no, but the cop already enrolled her. That sneaky dog.

    2/5
