  1. This product was in great condition and arrived earlier that I had expected. Thank you.

  2. Amazon has great customer service. The Bruce Lee Collection was new- still in its original packaging and still at a great price.

  3. This is easily one of the best investments to my collection, I mean 4/5 of bruce lee's movies, and a documentary.

Now fisrt of all, all of these movies are the original dub and very watchable picture.

Fist of fury(Big Boss)----- very fun movie with bruce beating up a lot of people. The end fight is prettygood because it was so authentic. Pai ying is the man, he is also the action coordinator on this.

Chinese Connection(Fist Of Fury)------ One of the best movies of all time. Great fight scenes(check it out when he takes on the whole gym), great score, great acting, hell, even Lo wei is an actor in this movie, and he is pretty freaking good.

Return of the dragon(enter the dragon) directed by bruce lee, action directed by bruce lee, and starrign bruce lee. Come on bruce, you could have put your name as composer too. This movie kicks ass, better than big boss, but not as good as chinese connection. Everyone knows this is the one where bruce fights chuck norris at the end. And it is everythign it is made out to be, certainly not the best though.

Game of death---this is your classic case of fastforwarding kungfu cinema. The fight scenes are pretty good, but a VERY FORGETTABLE story.

Documentary-------very good doc. that talks a lot about what bruce was planning for game of death(sounds sweet), and what other characters he wa experimenting with for hsi future movies. Can you believe he had a blind swordsman idea in mind for himself. There is a lot of other important info also. 5/5 for the documentary, good for any bruce fan.

So I have seen this at cd tradepost for 14.99, and 19.99 at Best buy, so I don't know where the hell that $38 price comes from.

  4. i bought this set at a used dvd store for $15.00 and was very happy to find it. watching it i was struck by how much talent and energy this man had! had he lived he would have one of the most bankable stars in the world.to be sure these are low buget action movies, but mr. lee brought a style to them that no other actor could have brought, his every move was a graceful and well thought out move, even just walking down the street. these are all the films he made(except for enter the dragon which he made for warner bros.) and he shines in them all,(game of death the movie he was making when he died is very weak and only comes alive when they use the footage of him that was shot) and if you love lee or good kung-fu movies this is one to own

  5. This is a fine collection of Bruce Lee classics!

It's not the best thing since sliced bread...but it's close.

5 comments about Kung Fu 20 Movie Pack.
  1. I had to edtit this because I wanted to change my review on ninja death after seeing parts 1 and 2. So here I go again, I still have not watched ALL of these, but then again, I never will watch some of them, so I will give it my my best.

Return of the Kungfu Dragon-2/5 stars at best, almost worth watching, I made it all the way through this one cause there were a lot of fights, but NOTHING sttod out to me.

Nija Empire-not going to watch this but if you are a mike egan fan, then you should certainly check this out.

NINJA DEATH 1- easily one of the most ambitious projects ever concieved by a kungfu director. The back of this box actually does a decent job of describinbg this, meaning they didn't lie and say that ti lung and david chiang. So this is easily the best of the 3- part series but you do need to get all 3. The other ones do a nice job of recapping, and if they woulod have said "Last time on Ninja Death", then that would have given a 5/5 for every movie. This movie starts out with a mullet wearing alexander lo rei who is as ripped as ever in thisd. he plays a brothel bouncer, so you get plenty of overly long funny sex scenes in this. But that is not why we are watching this. Ninja'a are coming out again and Alezander Lo Rei has to train with his master to learn a really good fighting style. I could bog you down with the story, but it's better just to try and figure it out for yourself cause it is pretty cool. So Lu Feng is the leader of the ninjas and he is trying to finish what he started like 20 years ago. And don't be fooled by this guy's 4 cent tin foil gold suit thingy because like I said, this guy is Lu Feng. And Feng's scenes are the only one they don't speed up(in part 1 at least), so maybe it is a tribute to him being the centipede. There is also this guy who wears a metal mask and is basically unstoppable. He is definitely my favorite character. Sop like I said you need to get all the parts of this, you can get the 50-pack that has all 20 of these movies and it also has parts 2 and 3. Or you can do what I did and buy the parts 2 and 3 for 99 cents off a ebay, not too bad of a buy.

Deadly Duo- bolo , chiang and ti fo not star in this and the real name is 2 GREAT CAVALIERS. It has beardy, lo lieh, angela mao, john liu, and the second appearence I have ever seen in a movie from the baddie from Jet li's last hero in china. I know what you are saying, "this has to be great", well it actually really sucks and ohter than the final fight is right on par with return of the kungfu dragon. The problem with this movie is that they don't even attempt to make the punches and kicks look like they are actually connecting. So not even worth a watch, but check it out for yourself and if you think it's good than post your opinion, I wold be glad to read it.

Ninja the protector- this movie said it had phillip ko in it in the CREDITS it said that. Mother @*$&#%^ piece of @#($, why do I keep watching these godfrey ho movies, I keep thinking that I am going to see the one good godfey ho film, but it will never happen. So this movie is a signateure splice that is better I guess than most of his ninja films.

HAnds of death-about as good as rage of the master=(wang yu"s saddest effort ever)

Weapons of death-I'm not going to watch it but if some of you're favorite kungfu stars are Eric Lee, Bob Ramos, Ralph Castellanos, then this is your bag baby!

Ninja Champion-HA ha ha ha ha ha

Four robbers- really bad chinese shoot-em-up, credits say that it has Ku Feng in it.

Shaolin Temple- sorry, no fu sheng, or maybe it does have him, but this is easily one of he worst shaolin movies ever, right up there with shaolin posse.

Image of bruce lee- Actually not that bad, I think it has Bruce Li in it. A ton of the most pointless fights ever(until the end at least). BUT THIS MOVIE HAS BOLO IN IT AND I DIDN'T SEE HIM FIGHT, SWEAR WORDS ARE RACING THROUGH MIND RIGHT NOW. I was pretty drunk when I saw this and I might have missed it, btu it would have had to be like a 30 second fight. So pai ying shows up in the final fight and it is pretty good. Easily one of the best bruce lee clone movies, a top tenner.

The snake, the tiger, the crane- I didn't see carter wong in this but it does have lo lieh as a wandering swordsman. Overall this is right along the lines of 2 great cavaliers(deadly duo) in crappiness.

Shaolin deadly kicks- I was actually expecting a lot out of this movie, maybe that's why I hated it. But if you are a dorian tan fan, you will probably like this, I just never liked that guy, he was too slow or something, I just can't put my finger on it.

Chase step by step- a real gem. I would rate this 3rd behind ninja death and shadow ninja as best movies in this "collection" and image of bruce would be a very distant 4th.
So this movie is about 2 circus kids who have to deliver gold a town who is poor and they have all sorts of troubles along the way. It has a really bad picture, but then again I have sat through and enjoyed muvh worse than this. The movie itself I would give around a 3.5/5, but still VERY good. This movie I have to say is pretty unique to what we kungfu buffs are used to, so really worth it if you can get this collection for 7.99 brand new at best buy like I did. And I would pay up to 30 dollars for this(if I already had Ninja death parts 2 and 3, which is actually pretty unlikely.

Bruce Lee:the invincible-I watched this and then image of bruce back to back. And this is the reason I got so drunk, this was so bad, I kept trying to make it better, but it only got worse the more drunk I got. So the movie stars the star of chines hercules and everyone really sucks at kung fu in this. REALLY SUCKS.

The big fight-I mix this up with hands of death, but I didn't finish either of them, because they both sucked.

The street fighter- you all know this sonny chiba movie, I don't like it, but it's watchable anf the picture is watchable too.

Death Machines- Ron Marchini, Michael Chong, Joshua Johnson, the greatest kungfu trio ever. They even rivaled the venoms back in the day. The reason Godfrey Ho is so popular. Easily one of the best movies ever. Also stars Jerry Karney, Tony "the disater" Baster. A true kung fu epic, ho's best work. 5/5 stars.

Infernal Street- only one I haven;t popped in the dvd player out of these.

Shadow Ninja-THE REASON YOU BUY COLLECTIONS LIKE THESE.
This is a true gem, I'll give you a spoiler alert right away because I tend to get carried away when I am talking about my favorite kung fu movies ever. The movie stars Roy Chiou(I think), a scrawny but tough little kid, and SHEN YI-KWAN. I know I butchered his name, but now 99.9% sure that this is the Jet Li's opponent in Tsui Hark's masterpiece, Once upon a time in china. Now if you have been looking for EYE-POPPING Martial Arts action, thenthis will definitely tickle that kungfu spot inside you that constantly needs more and more love the more and better stuff that you see.
So the story starts out with a young scrawny kid who wants to be a police officer. Now this kid has that classic peking opera style that I love and he looks absolutely FLAWLESS in his moves. So he becomes a cop and the partener of Roy Chiou(I think) and Roy doesn't like him at first, but then he gets his ass saved by him and they become good friends. Now I don't want to give away any more of this movie, except a little, but YOU NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE, AND TO SEE THIS YOU MUST GO BY ANY MEAANS NECESSARY. There is a guy called the white killer in this movie, and I think Michael Mann stole some music from the white kilelr theme for the shootout in heat. Anyway they have this one very stylish shot where the white kilelr kills someone and laeves red blood covering the camera lense, they also do a VERY nice shot of showing an all white body get soaked in red, and a VERY VERY nice revealing scene of the white killer.
    >
The final fight scene for this includes 4 people, 3 of which can fight. And when I say that they can fight, I mean they go at it HARD. These 3 can match up with ANYBODY in terms of on-screen fighting. The end battle is so spectacular that I wish that a word like breathless could describe this properly, but it doesn't. So I will just tell you that I have well over 200 kung fu movies and this rights right near the top of my all-time favorite. i literally watched this like 25 times in like 10 days.
I will never tire of this movie.

So Hell yah you should buy this collection, SHADOW NINJA IS TAKEN FROM A PRETTY GOOD PRINT, and personally , I would pay up to 20 bucks for this movie alone, even if it was a crappy print unlike the one this collection gives you. An ALL TIME CLASSIC.

And if anyone can find out the real name of this, I WILL BE VERY INTERESTED IN HEARING IT. When I looked this up on IMDB, it I clicked on the stars of it and all the same actores are in a movie called the KILLER WEARS WHITE, so if anybody has seen this sequel or prequel, PLEASE POST IT HERE AND LET ME KNOW.

  2. This is an excellent box gift to buy. There are so many movies to watch. You will enjoy watching them over and over again. For all of you Martial Arts fans this is one to own!!!

  3. well, it's the 1970s so movie technology went only so far. it's corny in a lot of ways, but some of the stories are fun. it's a kick and it's not a lot to pay considering that you get 20 movies.

  4. The KUNG FU 20 MOVIE PACK offers just a sampling of the hundreds of martial arts movies that have been created around the globe for the past few decades. The performers are skilled, the action intense, and the dialogue somewhat superfluous. This set offers high kicking excitement at an incredibly low price!

Users of a cinematic database graded these titles at an average (on a 1 to 10 scale) of 4.7.

Program list includes individual ratings, year and country of origin, and lead actors.

    (7.3) Shaolin Temple (Hong Kong-1976) - Sheng Fu/Kuan-Chun Chi
(???) The Snake, The Tiger, The Crane (Hong Kong-1975) - Carter Wong/Nan Hsi Yen
    (6.9) The Street Fighter (Japan-1974) - Sonny Chiba/Waichi Yamada
(3.3) The Weapons Of Death (1982) - Eric Lee/Bob Ramos

  5. These movies are terrible quality chinese kung-fu. They make you laugh because they are so terribly dubbed. The sound effects and over all quality of these movies are terrible. Buy some real kung-fu movies and don't waste your time on this.

  1. ST. CLAIR DVD multi-packs are reasonably priced, and offer decent quality video/audio transfers of unrestored public domain material. Discs are single-side recorded, plastic storage cases fairly sturdy, movie liner notes appear on box's back cover and most DVDs include bonus items.

Source material for the MARTIAL ARTS COLLECTION 9 Movie Pack is less than ideal. Washed-out colors, grainy transfers and dubs from well-used tape are too apparent.

    HIGHLIGHTS:

THE CHINESE CONNECTION-- Two words: Bruce Lee. Young man seeks revenge on a Japanese gang for the death of his teacher.

DRAGON PRINCESS-- Daughter returns to Japan from America to avenge the crippling of her Karate Master father (played by Sonny Chiba in a supporting role).

MILITANT EAGLE-- Ancient warlord illegally taxes the people and uses violent enforcers on those who refuse to pay. Four of his victims join forces to battle their corrupt oppressor.

SAMURAI REINCARNATION-- The beheaded leader of a failed 17th Century Christian revolt resurrects as a demon and leads a group of reincarnated ninjas in a fight for vengeance.

SNAKE AND CRANE SECRET-- A family's honor is at stake and their sacred Kung Fu book is in danger of being taken from them by the man who killed their patriarch two decades earlier.

NINJA ASSASSINS 10 Movie Pack (from MCE) is an ideal companion to this collection. Featuring Jackie Chan, Lee Van Cleef and Sho Kosugi, it contains ten completely different Kung Fu films.

    .
Parenthetical numbers preceding titles are 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings found at a film resource website.

    DISC ONE--

5 comments about The Game of Death II.
  1. Whoever thinks the choreography of this film is bad is highly mistaken, it's some of the best stuff ever. Also, Tong Lung's kicks show he's no hack, in fact he probably kicks in this movie more than all of Bruce's films in total.

Just like other Ng See-yuen and Yuen Woo-ping collaborations, this movie is all about TKD practitioners. Essentially, this film is Bruceploitation combined with a typical bootmaster filled Seasonal Films movie.

While bruceploitation is no doubt disrespectful stuff, Yuen Woo-ping's choreography and Yuen Biao's stunts saves this one.

Listen to Eric Jacobus, he knows what he's talking about (just search him up and you'll find out why).

  2. except karate tiger 4--ha ha, i know you probly like that.

This is also called game of death 2 and officially is called the last bruce lee movie, even though he's not really in it, that's ok, cause like 5 guys that can rival bruce( hwang lee is the only guy i think would really stand a chance against bruce) are in this.

So I advise you to get the GM 2 version, it has english dub that certainly can't rival the jet li collection in badness, but it does havesome altime classic dubbed lines, also look for the song that tarantino ripped for kill bill, which he improved drastically, but it he went with the same singer

Eevry action scene in this is so freaking sweet(except the ones with the white guy).

The main topic that I want to bring up of this movie is the scene where bruce's brother(in the movie)gives in to a yellow toothed nice bodied woman, and she tries to kill him, he prevents her from doing so but then this guy in a lion costume storms in.

Now I have seen this movie about 5 times, and it seriously gets better every time you see it. The first time I saw it the first fight in the greenhouse REALLY caught my eye, but I didn't really like it. Well I need to start watching all movies sober at least the first time but it's really hard when watching a movie called game of death 2 and i didn't even like the first one.

Anyway back to the lion scene----
I still can't figure out whether or not this lion was supposed to be a real lion or a man dressed up in a lion costume. i would love other opinions on this because it is truly mystafying. And I don't know how to spell that word but I can't think of another one to describe this truly unique movie experience that this lion gave me.

So please check this movie out if you get a chance.
You are not going to find this in any 50 pack or something because it is a good, so just go buy it at bestbuy for 7.99 like I did, and I guarantee you will rate this as one of the the best Hwang Lee action films, and it is also my favorite cassanova wong performance ever so enjoy.

Oh yeah, it has aYuen Bioa scene, I think he was fighing with a pole, but that ranked like #14 for fight scenes in this.

  3. useing 3 min. worth of bruce lee footage(and not the best of that) doesn't mean bruce lee stars in or would even put his name on this junk. this is just a case of tring to make more money of his name without any care for what he wanted or what he stood for.shame on them for making this mess, and shame on me for buying it.

  4. Game of Death II (aka Tower of Death) is a dichotomy of a film. It is a Bruceploitation film (though it is one of the better ones) and it is an exiting revenge flick. Raymond Chow had apparently not made enough money off of the insipid Game of Death and was slowly leaking "newly found" footage of Bruce so it was bound that he would create another film with spliced in footage, redubbed dialog and, of course, Bruce's namesake. A lot of people were using Lee's name to promote their own productions, but Golden Harvest (who Bruce worked for; though technically this was a Seasonal production) was the worst of these offenders.

The first act of the movie is the least interesting and worst part of the film. Bruce Lee stars (posthumously edited in) as Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) who visits his friend Chin Ku (Hwang Jang Lee) who is currently beating up an under-classed challenger. After an reestablishment of friendship between the two (never a good sign in a Kung Fu film), he visits an abbot (Roy Chiao revisiting his role from Enter the Dragon so they can reuse and redub footage) to discuss about his contumacious brother Bobby Lo (Tong Lung who also starred in Game of Death).

Of course, the scenes that compromise the first act are not only exploitative of Bruce Lee they are also poorly done. The most obvious is that the backgrounds do not match between Bruce's footage and the new footage. Also check out the sculpted back muscles of Bruce and compare them to his double. It is not even close. The fight scenes with Bruce (and his double) do not flow well. However, anytime you see a fight scene and that Bruce (or his double) does a difficult move such as a flip you will notice that it is the incomparable Yuen Biao (he even has a small role toward the beginning.)
Bruce later visits the funeral of his friend Chin Ku and he is prevented from examining the body (this must mean something to the plot.) When the ceremony takes place a helicopter comes by and snags the coffin. For some strange reason, well to dispose of the fake Bruce character, he jumps on the coffin as it is flying away and is hit with a dart and falls to his death. This is absolutely absurd. Though this is not as bad as the 70s clothes at the funeral or the tacky real funeral footage of Bruce Lee that would come next.

Now the movie gets more interesting and less exploitative. Bobby learns of his brother's death from his father who tells him to meet Sherman Lan. Sherman tells him to go to the Palace of Death. Now this is an interesting place. It is owned by Lewis, played by Roy Horan who has been an executive at Seasonal, an actor who also acted in Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, a student of Hwang Jang Lee and currently a lecturer at HK Polytechnic University; obviously his life is more interesting than this film. Bobby suspects Lewis as the culprit behind his brother's death. Lewis likes to eat raw meat, is surrounded by lions (who are fed the fighters that he defeats), Killer Peacocks and a one-armed valet (oh my). The one-armed assistant, a monk from the Fan Yu temple) does not seem that he could be of great use to Lewis, but Lewis says that he is faithful and he has known him for a long time (do not dwell on this fact because the absurdity of what happens later is quite hilarious). I really do not trust one-armed people in Hong Kong films unless they are played by Jimmy Wang Yu.

Lewis tells Bobby of a tower built by abbot Hung Kuang. However, it cannot be found above ground. The abbot had it built underground (this is a nice twist until you see how much they spent on the set design and how many levels there actually are). Obviously there is going to be a show down there with Bobby fighting however is behind all of this madness. I will not give it away (or tell what happens at the Palace of Death) but it is fairly obvious who it will be.

The final act of the film leads to some good fighting scenes, obviously with the help of action director Yuen Wo-Ping, as Bobby makes his way down the tower (try to see how many times Yuen Biao is used as a stunt double; hint check every other move Bobby makes). Most of the film is entertaining (not counting the irritating and unnecessary flashbacks). There is always going to be tackiness involved anytime you invoke Bruce Lee's inimitable name; but once the movie gets past that it is fun to watch. In fact it is the best Bruceploitation film out there -- though that does not necessarily mean that much.

  5. For a B movie forgetting the Kung FU fans, but writing it as a B movie comedy.
You have some left over footage from another movie and a dead star, well the chinese production company decided let us make another movie, so how do you make the plot, so it goes like this:

Bruce Lee's best friend gets killed, so Bruce Lee goes to avenge his death, then Bruce Lee gets killed and then very tacky use of real funeral footage of course being resourceful, so then Bruce Lee's little brother goes out to avenge the death of Bruce Lee who was out avenging the death of Bruce Lee's best friend.
Now no exploitation movie should be without a 100 Chinese Elvis posers that wear Elvis style Gi and have Elvis style square sun glasses on, this is classic. So in the end and I am giving away the plot here is that Bruce Lee's best friend was not dead, but fights Bruce Lee's little brother to the death, who was trying to avenge Bruce Lee's murder who was out to avenge the death of Bruce Lee's best friend when he died, but who didn't really die.
So if you like exploitation comedies and are a beer drinker, this was alot of fun for me if you like this type of thing. If you think this is a serious action kung fu movie, then I suggest you drink more beer

  1. If you are a die-hard Green Hornet fan and have to have them get the movie one. It is like 3 episodes cut together into a movie but very well done and very pleasant to the eyes and ears. Only get these if you must. By these I mean now that someone has sold all they can of the complete Green Hornet from the same Action Network cuts, it appears someone is repackaging them to look studio like. Still A.N. and poor in quality. If you read the new Batman 1966 release the same can be said for the Action Network release of the 66 batman series. Oh, and so no one thinks that I think Action Network released any dvds I simply mean the Action logo is on the playback as you get with most of the networks which broadcast shows today. So, as I said on another review let the buyer beware, It could be better than none as we do not know when the studio will release it, if ever.

  1. This looked like a good idea at the time when I rented it. The story looked good replete with Asian actors and not animation. The proof of the pudding lies in the eating however, and in this case gave me some indigestion.

Clearly of asian origin this is low budget hollywood at it's worst. Trying to mimic Martian Arts movies on the cheap is not the best idea anybody ever had and coming up with a lame storyline does not help either. The characters are mere cardboard replicas of their former selves and I found it infuriating that the wise sorcerer kept refering to the grown woman as my child.

I found the movie to be over the top moralising painting dilemmas with spray paint rather than calligraphy brushes. While the output of Hong Kong can beat the world in silliness and stunts they do have the edge on the delicate treatment of their myths. This ham fisted treatment shot in the Hollywood foothills as as much finesse as a Terminator movie. It is too long, boring and predictable with such a lame ending, not to mention the silly boat which looks so fake.

It was worth a try but I think the producers should have quit whilst they were still behind.

  2. i rented this movie with the expectation of a great asian film: well-choreographed martial arts, beautifully shot scenes, and a good storyline
boy, was i ever disappointed, maybe i was expecting too much, considering its a low budget independent film but nothing about the movie was good except for the summary in the back of dvd case!
the acting was terrible! not one of the actors could act, which made the whole film laughable and the martial arts was slow, with a few (let me stress *few*) added wire scenes obviously trying to copy from other great asian films to try to make it look authentic
halfway through the movie (after much discussion between my boyfriend and i to try to return the movie to the rental place but deciding it was too late), i put on the director's commentary, just to see why the directors actually thought their movie was even worth making; i was amazed to hear them actually saying good things about the movie!
i watched a little bit of the "making of" in curiousity; when i got to the part of the main character, seiki, saying how she loved her character b/c it provided range for her acting, i finally turned off the movie in amusement, amazement, and yes, even pity, that she would even think that

  3. 1. Bad acting
    2. Thin Plot
    3. Poor Scripts

and the list goes on. Buy or rent it at your own peril.

  4. Anytime the urge rises to be entertained with an escapist film the top of the list becomes one of the Asian martial arts films, films of stunning beauty, breathtaking choreography, handsome actors, and enough legend to make the storyline fascinating, e.g. 'The House of Flying Daggers'. This pathetic film is packaged like those wonder movies and so deludes the public into thinking it is in an equal category. Not even close!

A child is born to a couple informed that their progeny will be a male warrior who has the secrets to read the codebook that contains the key to the power of the universe. The pregnant mother is stabbed by the evil adversaries but the baby lives, 'disappointingly' a girl! The girl Seki is transported via a leaf boat to a blind wise magician who cares for her and teaches her Taiji and Kung Fu, raising her to return to the world and discover life along with her gifts. A family who wants to maintain dominion over China sends two sons (one evil and the other kind) to capture the girl and steal the code to the sacred book. The evil son is accompanied by warriors: the kind son is accompanied by Caucasian Marx brothers. The rest of the story is too simple-minded to discuss.

There are so many errors of judgment in the making of this film, not the least of which is a nebulous and silly script, that disrupt what might have been an honest attempt for Hollywood to make a martial arts film. But the acting is poor, combining Asian actors with non-Asian actors makes both look ridiculous, the special effects are clumsy, and the mood of ancient China is completely destroyed by the computer generated graphics superimposed on the real location of Griffith Park in Los Angeles! The three stooges added to the good warrior's team are so silly that they pass funny into absurd. There is no ending to the movie: instead it feels like the producers just ran out of money. A must miss. Grady Harp, August 06

  5. it's beautifully shot.. the production design was great for the budget... but the film didn't hold my attention..

  1. As a female practioner of JKD for the past three years, I have found this set of instructional DVD's to be of the utmost quality. Mr. Hajnasr's detailed, step-by-step instruction has helped me to develop a deeper understanding of the original art of Jeet Kune Do. I highly recommend this set for the excellent quality and extensive knowledge Mr. Hajnasr demonstrates. His passion for the art is contagious.

  2. Like many people I reviewed the many favorable reviews with a certain skepticism. But upon reviewing the DVD I know why it received such favorable ratings. It a very complete representation of JKD. Which is what I wanted an overview of the many facets of JKD. I'm now taking classes but our instuctor is jumping around on so many different aspects that its tough to learn. I wanted some supplemental instruction and have received it in these DVD's. Dont be afraid to purchase if you want a good overall view of JKD. However if your really interested in becoming good at JKD you should take classes from a qualified instructor also.

  3. this guy is a master and you will want this dvd because it's easy to follow and his teachings is that clear so i recommend this to all beginners and intermediates.

  4. First of all I am a former Marine who is currently a student of Shun Hsin Dao (Heart, Mind, and Body's Way). This form of self defense was developed by my instructor who is the founder. He is also a former Marine who served in Vietnam as a sniper and is highy skilled in several types of self-defense including a black belt in Karate and weapons training which implements many Jeet Kune Do principles as well as his own. Yet my instructor's teachings are far more advanced than the instructor's teachings on his video by far. Such as, how to properly take the effectiveness out of a side kick and how certain hits will affect the internal organs in such a way that death is a probability. My personal feelings is that George Hajnasr's video is a marketing tool for his school and it shows he is full of himself. His techniques and teaching are repititous such as that of Karate. Anyone highly skilled will know that the body will not remain in the same position after being struck. Therefore, repititous drills are a waste of time. Bruce Lee planted a seed such as, "The attacker always gives himself away". In George's video he mainly demonstrates his skills as an attack and not as a "Good defense is the best offense" He lacks explanation in his demonstrations except for the Chinese names of certain techniques he managed to memorize so he could show off. There is no explanation about awareness, sensitivity, or forward progression following a block. I personally could counter several of George's attacks with my level of skill that would be quite damaging physically. There are many unwise techniques taught by George that invites very damaging counters. George also used a segment of this video to show off his 7 year old son which was a bunch of BS. This was not instructional at all. Another thing is that his movement in showing techniques is not that of instructor who is trying to teach. Many of his movements were so quick you have to make sure to press slow play to view his technique. Once viewed there are so many flaws that I am confident my training is far more advanced than his students. I personally hated how much time George wasted on his music videos showing techniques or drills in motion throughout the video. Now another thing is his instruction on taking an opponent to the ground is ridiculous. You may be able to pull these techniques on a drunk or someone who is physically dominated by your power but I do not recommend these. If you go to the ground with your opponent you are defenseless to attacks from bystanders who may be in defense of the opponent. Therefore, you should never go to the ground and if so you should do whatever it takes to get back to your feet such as biting, scratching, breaking fingers, gouging eyes, etc.... My instructor has written a book which is available on line which tells of his own background, concepts and training in regard to self defense. I assure you this book is a must which will definitely give anyone studying Jeet Kune Do a different point of view and will definitely take their level of skill to a more advanced level. The name of the book is Natural Martial Arts by Thomas Purtell. I am located in Tucson, AZ and if anyone is interested in contacting my instructor please feel free to contact me at spadude17@yahoo.com and I will forward your email to him.

  5. Sifu George Hajnasr is a passionate, no-nonsense instructor. He cuts to the heart of JKD and works hard to maintain its foundation in Wing Chun and Bruce Lee's original intentions behind the art.

Overall, this is a great introduction to the art - a great investment for the money. Though Dan Inosanto's videos offer a more consistent and drill-oriented approach, this series is a fraction of the cost and definitely informative, inspiring, and engaging.

Also, as I understand it, you really need to purchase the book as well in order to have all the concepts better developed and explained in detail.
