- I bought 4 Forschner knives for my mother so I could have some workable cutlery when I cooked for her. My own knives are Wusthof Classic and I like their slim handles and blade heavy balance. The 8" Forschner cook's knife felt clumsy at first with a light blade and fat handle, but turned out to be a very serviceable bargain. The 5" mini-chef is a very good utility knife. The 6" chef knife doesn't have enough blade/handle clearance for chopping and is too long and clumsy to be a useful utility knife.
- This line of knives was recommended in one of my cooking magazines; best knife for the price. They have several in their test kitchen.
- We have 3 other Forschner knives (8" Chef's knife & (2) 3.5" paring knives). Like the other knives, the 6" is well balanced, sharp, and holds its edge. It may take you a while to get used to using a knife this sharp. You have to use very little pressure behind the knife to slice anything. I use both our 8" & 6" regularly. The 6" is the choice for quick vegetable prep and the heavier weight of the 8" works great on meats and harder vegetables like butternut squash.
We purchased the 6" knife because the 8" Chef's knife was a bit unnerving for my wife. Being a lot sharper than any other knife we've owned (we've gotten rid of our other chef's knives after getting Forschners), she was always worried about cutting herself with the bigger knife. She has small hands and the 6" is the perfect size for her. Now that we have both, we wouldn't get rid of either. The 6" knife was a great addition to our kitchen.
- Though lightweight, this is the PERFECT knife to have in your kitchen. It is extremely sharp and an ideal size for everyday work. I bought the 8" one as well but I find myself using the 6" the most; it is thinner and therefore less bulky to use. The only thing I've had to get used to is its weight. I'm used to a heavier knife but the quality of the blade makes up for his lightness.
- I bought these knives for my son, He was amazed at the qualityof these knives. They cut effortlessly, and are easily controlled. He was considering a much more expensive knife. I'm glad to have found these.

- I am a hunter and I process the game I take myself. This boning knife was just what I needed to speed the process along. I recently processed a 100 lb. hog. The knife was flexible and narrow which allowed me to get the most from the bone. The handle was easy to grip. The blade held a good edge through the entire hog, I did not need to stop and steel the blade.
I used it the following week to process a deer with the same good experience.
At this great price how can you go wrong.
- Opened the knife from the package, and it was perfectly sharp. It fits in the hand well, and cuts well. America's Test Kitchen suggested the knives for price and quality, and to me they were right on every aspect.
- America's Test Kitchen recommended this boning knife and they were right. This knife is sharp straight out of the package. I used it the first time to cut the silver skin from some beef and it was so easy using this knife. The sharp point and long thin blade enabled me to get right under the silver skin and I did not cut into the meat itself. I was able to cut neatly and precisely where I wanted to due to the comfortable handle and sharp blade. Why pay a fortune for a boning knife when this one gets the job done quick and neat. Good job America's Test Kitchen and thanks R H Forschner for making another affordable but quality product.

- It is a great Chef knife... very sharp, light and easy to handle. I am definitely buying another one!!! Oh, and it has the Victorinox brand behind it (you know, the makers of the Swiss Army Knives!).
- This turned out to be a great knife! My husband loved it...felt good in his hand...he said.
- THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST KNIFES THAT THE SHARPNESS OF THE KNIFE WILL LAST FOR A MONTH! I USED THESE KNIFES WHEN I WAS BUTCHER FOR A LOCAL HEB STORE. IN MY OPINION AND FOR PEOPLE THAT KNOWS ABOUT KNIFES THESE ARE ONE OF THE BEST OF THE BEST... GLOBAL IS JUST THE BRAND YOU ARE BUYING THEY ARE THE SAME AS FAR AS QUALITY.
- I had high hopes, but low expectations with this knife. High hopes because it's done well in Cook's Illustrated reviews for years, and it's gotten great reviews on Amazon, but low expectations because I've worked in commercial kitchens with crappy knives for about 8 years now, and this knife is very similar in look and feel to the knives I've used for the last 8 years. I figured I'd give this one a shot and if it didn't work out, well, I'm only out 30 bucks. And it definitely lived up to my expectations- mainly that it will not hold an edge. At all. The knives we use where I currently work are sent out bi-weekly for sharpening. They come back razor sharp, but it only lasts for about 2 days before they get dull again. I knew within the first two hours of using this one that it was not going to work out. The edge started going in the first hour. After two hours, repeated honing did little to bring it back. I honestly don't see why it's gotten such great reviews. I gave it two stars instead of one because I do like the length and width of the blade, as well as the handle. Long, wide blades are difficult to find for some reason. But it goes dull quicker than any other knife I've used.
My recommendation? If you're looking for a budget knife, there are better options out there.
- It doesn't have the heft or the feeling of luxury that I get from something like Henkels, but it has a nice, rigid blade, decent balance, comfortable grip, and it cuts nicely. Very easy to keep sharp with a steel. In other words, it is functionally absolutely correct, if not luxurious.
For 1/3 the price, I'll skip luxurious. This is my traveling knife for cooking while visiting friends with less-well-equipped kitchens or doing demos (in my home kitchen, I have a mix of Henkels, Wuesthoff, and some Chinese cleavers), and I'll certainly add a few others to my kit.
Highly recommended for the price.

- I bought this strictly because I was so pleased with the Forschner 8-inch chef's knife I bought a few months ago and was not disappointed. Chopped rock hard bulk chocolate like it was butter, made short work of crusty-outside soft-inside baguettes, and effortlessly sliced tomato wafer thin.
These Forschner knives are the best quality for value PRODUCTS, not just knives, I've ever encountered. Buy some!
- THIS IS A FANTASTIC BREAD KNIFE. SLICES RIGHT THROUGH CRUSTY BREADS WITH- OUT TEARING THEM APART. ALSO IS GREAT WITH TOMATOES.
- Very nice for general cutting purposes, touch with cooked sandwiches. IE: Grilled cheese and ham & cheese bagel.
- Forschner knives are SO good for the money, and this one is my favorite. If you ever slice French bread, artisan bread, anything that needs a sharp serrated blade with the ability to make perfect slices, this is it. You will never squash a loaf of bread again.

5 comments about Victorinox Swiss Army One-Hand Trekker Lockblade Pocket Knife (Black).
- It took me weeks of searching around different sporting and merchandise stores to find what I was looking for. I was looking for a pocket knife with a decent size blade that locks and you can open it with one hand. At the same time I wanted some utility tools like a saw, screw driver, and something I could use instead of my finger nail to open tight wrapings and etc. Let me tell you. You cannot beat Victornox when it comes to sharpness and quality. Its not too big and definately not too small. I'm glad Victornox made a locking blade pocket knife and this is the one. I am very happy with it. And the price cannot be beat. I've seen much cheaper knives with lesser quality cost more.
- This Swiss Army Knife is a must have in every car. I love it and works real good. It's a complete and full functional unit.
- This knife is a handy size for pocket. The blade is surprisingly large and useful. High quality and nice feel. Useful screwdrivers. Good can opener. And other features. I'd want this knife if I was lost in the woods.
- I recently purchased eleven of these knives to be used as gifts for groomsmen, fathers, and helpers at my wedding. Everyone was/is pleased, and most will use while camping or fishing. To make things even better, while in an outdoor store on my honeymoon, I found the knife for $20+ more than I paid. As others have commented, this is not a "pocket" knife...it is large.
- This is the knife you need if you're going to do some serious drinking, because not only does the main serrated blade lock, but the bottle opener does, too. (This is also the flat-blade screwdriver, good for prying things. So it does make some kind of sense.)
This is also the knife if you're going to do serious hiking. You never know when you're going to find yourself with an arm pinned under a giant boulder. The saw will come in very handy. This is when the one-handed operation really shines.
I bought this one in a kit including a "free" Classic. You can never have enough Swiss army knives.
And speaking of which, you will have noticed this knife is sold in a couple of different variations. Here is a summary. Compared to this Trekker...
- Bundeswehr is similar, sans toothpick/tweezer
- Parachutist has belt cutter instead of saw
- One-Handed Trailmaster is same thing, old/non-US name
- Trekker Camo similar, non-serrated blade
- Sentinel only has the one locking blade
- Fireman has saw AND belt cutter
- Rescue Tool has saw AND belt cutter, and window breaker
- Workchamp and Hercules have all that, "but wait, there's more"
For more info, check victorinox.ch.
Look on Youtube for videos demonstrating one-handed operation.

5 comments about R H. Forschner by Victorinox 3-Piece Paring Knife Set, Black Poly Handles.
- I am very happy with these great all around knives, use them for everything, all the time, very handy
- These are totally worth the price. There's nothing to dislike about them at all. I love the curved knife for pealing potatoes or fruit. The strait one is great for general purposes and small slicing. The serrated knife is great for tougher things or smaller portions of cooked meats. It would actually be an ace steak knife! Overall I LOVE this set! And it's used several times a day in this house!
- Knives are lightweight and do an excellent job of paring. I bought a chef's knife for my son. He is very pleased.
- Great, sharp knives. Thanks to Americas Test Kitchen for the great review which encouraged me to purchase these knives. They are the best I have had and great value.
- I purchased these on somewhat of a whim as my older paring knives were getting worn. They have quickly become the first knives I reach for. The varied selection fulfill most of my daily needs. They are sharp and lightweight which is especially handy for a woman. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and it didn't "break the bank". I think they will sharpen easily when needed and last for many, many years.

5 comments about R H. Forschner by Victorinox 10-1/4-Inch Curved Blade Bread Knife, Black Fibrox Handle.
- Great knife, good price. Have only had it a few weeks but so far seems like it'll be my favorite, I'll be using it a lot. Really sharp, cuts very well.
- I suspect that from now on, I will only buy Froschner knives. They don't look all that good, but are outstandingly engineered.
We already had the very nice Chicago Cutlery 10" bread knife when I thought of buy this since the Chicago knife tended to "pull" to the left when I cut. This knife also has a slight pull but the depth of the blad allows for more control.
The fibrox handle has a nice feel, though not as nice appearance as the walnut on the Chicago Cutlery knife.
The knife is sharp and perfect for cutting anything from delicate pasties up to crusty European bread. It's a winner.
- I bought this based on the America's Test Kitchen review, but was somewhat skeptical. When I used it I was completely won over. Best I've used, even though not impressive looking. If you want function over beauty, get this.
- I have been looking for bread knife longer than the typical 8" but also one that had an offset handle. I make some larger loaves in the oven but even my breadmaker loaves are a bit big for an 8" knife. The curved blade and long length of this knife make any size loaf workable. If I have one concern it is that when cutting a heavy or stiff bread the blade drifts one direction or the other. I have learned to compensate for that characteristic. For that I would deduct a star but, this knife cuts a whole lot more than bread. I use it for meat, tomatoes, mushrooms, or most anything in the vegetable kingdom and meats (but not bones).
At $26 or so, it is a great value. I looked back on my Amazon purchase and found that I paid a lot less.
- Ordered this knife based on the reviews. It is a superb knife in every aspect - couldn't be more pleased. Am a Sr. Citizen with many "cooking" years of experience. Also, knife was delivered promptly.

- I've used other expensive brand name knives for years, and recently bought the RH Forschner 7-inch knife, and LOVE IT!!! It cuts finely, and sharply. I've never enjoyed cutting vegetables more than with this knife.
- This is a good knife, sharp, and can cut very thin slices without effort. I've found that it does not cut thru tomato skins as easily as the smaller paring knife. Cutting from the backside is a breeze, but wish it was a tad bit sharper. Love the balance and strength.
- I use this knife whenever I'm cooking. I even took it to a friend's house that I was helping cook for a party. The knife is easy to handle and makes slicing, dicing, chopping a breeze. I love it!!
- Since I bought this Victorinox Santoku type knife in April I use it almost exclusively. It's light weight is a bit disconcerting only at first, in comparison to a 8 inch chiefs knife. When it got slightly dull I tried a very fine old Lamson steel at a shallow angle. It worked, but the angle was not as consistant as I wanted. I then tried the Wusthof Knife-Life Santoku sharpner it's great. It's sharpening angle is 17 degrees, my guess is the Victorinox's angle is slightly less. It only takes a couple of swipes through the fine ceramic stones and you are good for another weeks chopping. The quality of Victorinox's steel is very impressive. This is the best of their knives that I have purchased.
- Bought this knife based on a review of a like knife in Cooks Illustrated. Really like the weight. Very shape, very good value.

- Everything I am looking for in a paring knife... I will be buying another one after discovering how great it works for me. Fantastic price for such an awesome knife.
- This is absolutely the best paring knife I've ever purchased. I bought it after reading in Cooks Illustrated that it beat its more expensive peers in essentially all of their tests, and it has done the same in my kitchen. It is a little more flexible than most paring knives, though still rigid enough to be used with anything. I end up using it for tasks that would normally require a much larger chef's knife because it's so convenient and comfortable.
I generally use Wusthof Classic knives, including a Wüsthof Gourmet 4-Inch Paring Knife that costs $19. That's enough to buy three of these perfect little Forschner knives and still have some money left over. Do yourself a favor and buy the three Forschner ones.
Since my original purchase, I have bought at least 5 more of these knives for myself and others. Never will your loved ones be so thankful for a $5 gift!
I've had these knives for a while and have had no issues with them losing sharpness -- I occasionally run the knife over a sharpening steel just to make sure the blade is still aligned, but it really shouldn't require any care. And if you do have any problems -- hey, it only cost five bucks.
- This is a great little knife for a great price! I have an assortment of more expensive paring knives, none of which keeps an edge for very long. This one keeps its edge, is light and easy to hold, and was cheap.
- This knife has a good feel to it and is very sharp though I would not consider it a "paring" knife. I would recommend it because it's good quality at a great price. (My idea of a paring knife is something a little smaller with a curved handle and blade.)
- Paring knives have their rightful place in your kitchen. This little fella was rated tops on America's test kitchen.

5 comments about R.H. Forschner by Victorinox 8-Inch Chef's Knife, Black Fibrox Handle.
- I actually learned of Forschner knives from my daughter who works for a caterer and as a prep chef at an Edible arrangements store. She uses the fancy so-called professional chef's knives at the catering gig where appearences and impressions are crucial and uses the Fibrox knives at the fruit store where function and performance are most important. She loves these knives and gives them as gifts all the time. She does own a set of high end asian knives but uses the Fibrox knives where it matters....on the job. It's kinda like when those really expensive German hand tool brands claim they are the choice of pros when almost all technicians worldwide use Snap-on hand tools.
I also own a few Japanese chef's knives but love the out-of-box edge on the Fibrox. The blade is deep enough so that I don't knock my knuckles and the handle is shaped so that I can hold it with a firm grip without placing too much downward pressure on the blade. I sharpen my own knives and the Fibrox is very easy to re-sharpen and maintains an edge as well as any kitchen knife I have used. Overall a great value and excellent tool.
- I bought this knife on the recommendation of Cook's Illustrated and because my Henkles was refusing to keep an edge. All the reviews say it comes with a "razor sharp" edge. Trust me, it does. I was chopping an onion and my index finger got a little too close. The Henkles knife would have glanced right off my finger nail. This knife sliced my finger nail right off, from cuticle to end. Other than that, it came as advertised -- good heft, excellent feel in the handle, "razor sharp" and inexpensive.
- I really didn't believe this knife would be this good, considering the cost. My other chef knives are $100 henkels, and they are great, but I am turning to this one all the time. I really like the weight, balance, and the feel of the handle. And it's damn sharp!
- can't think of anything better than this knife. well, maybe a 10" to keep it company.
- What a great knife! it preforms very well, have not needed to sharpen it yet, and was super sharp right out of the packaging!
this knife handles everything i throw at it! the blade is great, the grip though plastic has a great textured nonslip surface, and its a great size for most kitchen tasks!
for the price its a great value, its also the top rated knife on the test kitchen show and they use it all the time on the show, this knife and the paring knives, look closely next time and youll see!
you will like this knife!
