- I really like these knives. They go through steak like it's not even there and have a nice hand feel. I suppose I'm from the old school who would prefer their three-rivit handles to be made of resin instead of plastic, but it still looks good sitting in the nice accompanying block.
- I bought these for my mother because she's been using the same beaten up knives for 30 years. I liked these so much, I kept them for myself and bought an additional set for her! Very sharp, nice feel and weight to them.
- henclels makes good knives. i bought them for that very reason. my son, who recieved them is very satisfied with the knives and the block looks good too! i'll buy henckels again.
- I bought some Eversharp Pro steak knifes a couple years ago. The handles for these are slightly different but the set is a good value. I am happy I bought them.
- As much as these knives are hyped up, I guess I was expecting a bit more. They feel kind of cheap in your hands and do not have the nice even weight of some other knives I have used. They cut through meats decent but nothing amazing.

- Very attractive set of knives, up to par as usual for Wusthof products.
- This set was a gift to our daughter and son-in-law. It complemented their modern china and flatware well. When we used them for Christmas dinner, they handled easily, were well-balanced, and rested well on the plate. From a reputable firm such as Wusthof, I know they will give many years of service. I was pleased with our gift. The box is attractive enough to go on top of a buffet or on a shelf in a china cabinet.
- They are OK, but not what I expected from a Wusthof product. I considered returning them, but decided they are workable and it wasn't worth the trouble.
- Comparing these knives to the rest of the available choices is unfair. They have great weight and balance and cut very well.
- These knives are very nice. My husband has been pleased. Cut meat very easily. Clean up nicely. Overall a very good purchase!

- These are not what you'd expect from Wusthof. The Wusthof symbol on the handle is a STICKER (!!!) which bleaches out after washing. Also, after 1 months use and washing, we're getting rust spots. While these knives are sharp, they are not holding up appearance wise. Very disappointed.
- These are quite flimsy and develop rust spots extremely easily. Not the quality one would expect from this company. We have several of Wusthof Classic's line (Chef's, paring, utility, etc) have found them to be sturdy, true, well-balanced in the hand and have held up very well over the past 3 years in our busy kitchen. We didn't expect these steak knives to be of the same quality, but they were suprisingly low quality for the brand and the cost.
- I have a set of these steak knives and love them.
Unlike most inexpensive steak knives these knives are fine edge and not serrated. I like the cut of fine edge knives. They make clean cuts without shreading. These are stamped knives which are a lot less expensive than the forged Classic knives in my set but they look the same and for how much they are used they perform well at half the price of the forged knives. I have never had the rusting problem, but I hand wash all my knives. These are not stainless steel. I heard once that most of the time when knives rust it is because they are put in the dishwasher. The dishwasher leaves metal deposits on your flatware. When those deposits dry they turn to rust. Come to find out it is usually your dishwasher that is rusting when this happens. I never stick good knives in the dishwasher.
- I hate when people complain about carbon steel knives rusting. These are not cheap stainless steel knives. They are carbon steel and carbon steel knives rust. Wash them by hand and dry them immediately. Just common sense people. These are great knives. My wife and bought a 18pc gourmet set for her mom and these are the exact same knives included in the set. They are not as rigid as the classics but they retain a razor-sharp edge and are comfortable in your hand and are affordable. What more could you want?

- Just received these knives and they seem to be a fine set of steak knives. However, I noticed that these gourmet series (with the exception of the 8" chef's knife), use different steel than their more expensive classic series. Specifically, the classic series uses "X50CrMn15" material, whereas these gourmet series uses "X46Cr13". The major difference being that X46Cr13 contains less carbon (0.5% vs. 0.46%) and that it does not contain Mn (molybdenum), which is needed for knives to be totally dishwasher safe. ...
- In reading the comments on these knives I noticed that there was a different type of metal in the Gourmet vs the Classic. I checked my knives and then contacted a friend of mine that is into knives. He said that Molybdenum is put into the steel for forging purposes only thus it has no effect on the sharpness or finish. Because Gourmet is a stamped knife it does not require this type of material. I have the knives and they are great. They are not the quality of the Classic but they don't carry that price either.
- I essentially agree with what other reviewers have written (except that Mn is molybdenum- Mn is manganese, Mo is molybdenum). Are they of the superior craftsmanship of the Wusthof Classic line? No, they are not. But at a fraction of the price of Classic, you already knew they wouldn't be. The plastic handle and thinner steel do feel a bit on the cheap size when holding the knife, but they look great alongside the rest of our Wusthof cutlery (which is why my fiance and I bought them). And don't worry about performance; all meats that I've cut succumb nicely to the straight edge blades. What I can't comment on is the blades' longevity. We've only had them a short while, and I don't know how they'll hold their edge.
My final word on them is that those who can afford the Classic line (and I truly wish I was one of them) should purchase the Classic. But for those who can't, don't be shy about purchasing Gourmet. You'll get what you pay for, and since you're paying for Wusthof, how disappointed can you be?

- These knives are a wonderful touch to setting an elegant place at the table. No rough looking giant steak knives here. These knives cut through steaks of various size and texture with ease. Even used in a casual setting these knives fit in. Very tasteful as well as useful.
- I was thrilled to get these knives on sale. They are lovely and even have their own case. Once I figured out that the groves within the case were at an angle to keep them in place I was quite pleased. I wish that they were straight edged, but it's a small complaint considering that these are nice quality steak knives.
- A complete set of stylish knives that not only will serve their purpose (easily cutting the steak), but also allow you to present an elegant table, worthy of a top restaturant, home or just for your own delight... They get easily marked with the fingerprints and all, but if you take care of them by the book, it will be just great! You won't regret the purchase of this set.
- I like nice things and am a bit of a snob. That being said, these knives are not "top of the line" Henckels. But they don't cost the same either. More importantly, they are not the cheap Henckels line. They cut well, rather than tearing. They look nice and go with stainless flatwear. The one consistent comment made by others I find interesting is how well they survive the dishwasher. These knives are not supposed to go in the dishwasher. They are to be hand washed. The instructions so state. There is no way to sharpen them because they are serrated. So a dishwasher will dull them without recourse. But no good knives are supposed to be put in a dishwasher. This is a nice set and I am pleased I bought them.
- These knives are sharp. One of the reasons i bought them was that they are entirely in stainless steel, a single piece, so they could match my other flatware on the table and are also easy to clean. I've been cleaning them in the dishwasher and it's been ok. The logo on the blade is big so they do not look that nice on the table if your flatware style is clean and elegant and you're having a fancy dinner. But as the focus must be the food anyway, the logo might go unnoticed. For those who like heavy knives, it's not a good choice. But they do cut very well anyway, which is the most important.

- Decent steak knives, good weight, easy care. Not those pirate things you sometimes see but more of an instrument of gustatory pleasure.
- This the best steak knife set I have ever owned. A welcome addition to the dining experince. It does have a small serrated edge. (not big teeth)
and cuts through steaks and chops effortlessly. Feels very good in the hand. Not bulky at all and attractive too. This JA Henckel's makes the grade.
- These are decent knives, but they are made in Thailand, they are extra shiny and look to have a chrome cover or something. The price is fairly low and the serrated edges are really sharp. The knives do the job, but they do not reflect the quality of my other Henckel knives.
- This is a very sharp pair of knives. Perfect for any small jobs you may have. My husband loves these knives. They are about the only thing he uses to cut food items in the kitchen. They are a must for any steak lover. You will not be disappointed with their quality or price.

- I have used these knives for several years and look forward to using them whenever possible. I have never experienced the "tearing" as described above. I looked for them on this site so I could give them as a gift to friends.
- Very good knives. Be very careful when washing, I cut myself twice already (the first time I wasn't even aware of it for a few hours). In the description the maker indicates that the knives should be hand washed and dried, and not soaked... That's because the handles are very stain-saturated, if left wet the stain bleeds out onto the blade. Nevertheless, they were made to cut, and that's exactly what they do. Regarding the price, I bought them on sale, and I think that the sale price should be the retail price to make the set a good value.
- Very nice presentation with the Twins quality. You won't be disappointed in the price/value
- These knives keep their sharpness and easy storage with the great wood box, no accidental cuts from getting a knife out of a drawer. Super product
- The saying goes: "You get what you pay for." I needed 8 steak knives yet did not wish to spend $200 or more for only six good quality knives. Therefore I compromised and purchased the J.A. Henckels Twin Gourmet 8-piece steak knives for less than $100 at Amazon. They are light knives, neat looking (slim) without heavy looking handles, so that you can add to everyday table setting. Serves the purpose. Wish they were a bit more substantial. Otherwise, okay for everyday usage.

- Additional knifes to go with the rest of the knife order. Enough knifes to feed a crowd. No more share the knife! We know this brand, as it is excellent in knife making.
- Within four months the rivets had corroded in all of the knives but I decided to live with it. After 10 months one side of the handle separated from the rivets in one of the knives and it just fell apart. I am sending the whole set back to Henckels immediately.
- I bought these for my husband, a gourmet chef. He loves them. They are high quality and the price is right.
- Henckels is a great brand & has consistently great products. We own a set of Henckels Pro-S knives & LOVE them so, I was a little hesitant to order these since the "twin gourmet" series is the cheaper line in the brand however, I shouldn't have worried. These knives are terrific - very sharp & durable & a great buy for the price. We use them practically every day & they are still razor-sharp. Highly recommend!
- Got a set of Henckels Twin Pro knives for a wedding gift and decided to buy the steak knives to complement them. So far, love them!

- I got the knives to go with the new flatware. I went with a name I trusted and they are great.
- These knives are a great value, i have had an original set for over 10 years and they remain sharp. One piece design so they are great for the dishwasher too
- J.A. Henckels International Stainless Steel 8-Piece Steak Knife Set
Excellant set.Well balanced. Cuts effortlessly. I saw some comments about the handle being too small on this set. I wear XXL size gloves and was a little apprehensive about the comments on the size. I do not think it is an issue at all. I am very happy and comfortable with this set.
- I got this steak knife set to go with a 45 piece flatware set from JA Henckels and was not disappointed. I am extremely happy I purchased this set along with the Henckels flatware set and both sets should last for decades. The knives are sharp, have a sold feel, look great, and are reasonably priced as it appears this set will provide years of cutting meat with ease. I highly recommend this set and thoroughly enjoy them myself. After friends have used them they usually ask where I got these because they are so impressed with the solid feel and ease in cutting meat they want a set of their own. If you get the woodblock too they look great on the counter.
- The steaks knives are bright stainless steel and tolerate dishwasher use. The cutting edge is sharp and effective. The quality, appearance and style of this knife set is very high. The price is a bragain. I would highly recommend for anyone on a meat diet.

- It may be Henckels, but they are cheap and they rust. Save up for a couple of higher end Henckels that will last. And don't put them in the dishwasher!
- Excellent knives, I bought 2 sets, they resist very well ti being washed in the dishwasher, I am thinking of buying another set. I would recommend it to anyone.
- I had these knives from like 10 years ago throughout the years I had lost a few, purchased the same knife and the old ones are just as sharp as the new ones they
never dull Love them.
- I had purchased a set of 4 of these knives several years ago - and they were the only ones that I had owned that actually stayed sharp and did not separate from their handles. These are an excellent value - would recommend them to anyone!
- What do you ask from a steak knife?
It must cut.
It must be easy to wash.
This set of knives does both and at about thirty bucks!
For the money you can't go wrong with these. Granted, they are not for your formal place setting, but for every day use they are more than adequate. They are not only sharp but are also dishwasher safe.
You can't go wrong with these.
