  1. The name speaks for itself; world-class product. Ordered, shipped, and received without difficulty; great service from Amazon and superb product from Henckles.

  2. In recient years I have worked on aquiring quite a selection of Henckle knives. I started with a set of cheep international series Henckle knives, but a some point needed a "step up". I purchased a single four star knife, used it for a week, and have been hooked ever since. I have used most "as seen on TV" brands... well I am still hooked on four star. The only competition they have with me is their own Pro S series. Eargonomic handles, easy to maintain, and a great design for use in the kitchen.

  3. This is an excellent knife for general cutting and slicing. It's length is just the right size for easy handling and safety.
Stays sharp longer than my other premium knives.

  4. I have several sizes of these knives. This one, the smallest one, is the one I use most. Thus I had to get a new one after 2-3 years. No complaints; the cutting capability far exceeds cheap knives from K-mart/Walmart type stores. You pay a bit more, but the quality is well worth the difference.

  5. I bought this knife to replace a 3" paring that inexplicably broke. The blade just snapped in half after slipping off the counter into the sink. I prefer the 4" size, and had no hesitation to replace Henckels with Henckels.

  1. this product came quickly and was everything I expected of the name..it has worked well and is extremely sharp...very pleased..will order other sizes...as it is a BIG savings over the store prices...

  2. Great little knife at a great price. Stays sharp and I use it for everything.

  3. Great paring knife. Made in Germany. Nice, balanced feel and just the right sized and shaped handle for easy gripping. Appears to be very solidly built and durable. Information on printed paper blade sheath: high carbon, no-stain steel blade, ergonomic handle construction, hygienic and dishwasher safe. I like it.

  4. This is a wonderful paring knife. It is sharp and stays sharp. It works beautifully and reminds me of a knife my grandmother had. Haven't had to sharpen it yet.

  1. With our other good Henckels, the handles are black and thus look like the el-cheapo steak knives, so they get tossed in the dishwasher by mistake by me, the scatterbrained wife, and that is (one of) my husband's pet peeves. That, and cutting in his pans. Don't ever cut in the man's precious pans...so we bought these brightly colored ones. Good stuff, and cheaper than couples therapy.

  2. I owned the set, but the blue knife got thrown out and I was happy to be able to replace it without buying the wooden block, knife holder.

  3. These Henckels blades are not premium quality. I like the blades on the Swiss made Forschner paring knives more than these, but the larger handles on these Chinese made Henckels knives were more comfortable for my large hands. I have an older German made Henckels paring knife that has a superior blade to these blades. Too bad you can't purchase the Forschner blades with these Henckels handles. These Chinese made Henckels paring knives are still better than a cheap supermarket brand. I recommend the Forschner paring knife set over the Henckels paring knife set, but they both have there pros and cons.

  4. These knives are as described, sharp, light weight and have comfortable handles. They do the job at a low price.

  5. The knives are very sharp...but the handle is too light! Therefore the knives do not feel balanced when using them. It's almost a bit scary as I have to be so very careful to not cut myself. A more balanced heavier handle would have made these a five star set. Nice for the money, but not as pleasurable to work with since one has to be so careful!

  1. This knife has a good feel in your hand and cuts well. It does however have NO serrations to the edge of the blade as advertised. I looked for serrations under heavy magnification too. It is of the same orange color and has the same kind of feel to the handle as the other Gusto grip knives do, but without the stainless steel pomel or tang. I didn't care to have this particular knife included for show with the other Gusto knives and it now sits alone in one of my drawers. That being said I know I will be using this knife a lot for many things as It does cut well and feels comfortable in my hand. It's just not display material in my opinion.

  2. This knife is not as sharp as I expected and already has rust spots after only one use

  3. I recently purchased this knife and thinks it works great for everything. Nice feel in hand. I do think it is really sharp maybe too sharp for me. But does a great job. I grab to use it for everything now. I am thinking of purchasing another one.

  4. I agree with other reviewers that these knives are not of the same quality as the paring knife that comes with the set, but they are also not the same price! For the price, these knives are excellent. They are very sharp and so far have kept their edge. If you are looking for a REALLY good inexpensive knife, this one will fit your needs.

  5. If you are planning to replace this with one of your pairing knives that came in a furi set, do not order. The quality is not the same and it will not fit in your knife holder that furi supplies. It is ok as a knife on the side to use but not the quality that furi normally puts out. In fact the color is not even the same as it has a slightly off color handle compaired to the sets. Would I order this again. No.

  1. I decided to treat myself to this knife after purchasing a 4 star 6 inch chef's knife and realizing just how good a Henckels knife is. Fit, finish, balance, ability to take and hold an edge make this a good investment.Prepping veggies, dicing,or delicately slicing "silverskin" off a piece of meat goes so much easier.Next purchase will be a 4 inch of same.I will not have to purchase another paring knife in my lifetime.Excellent quality and worth the money. By the way, I'm a firm believer in sharpening stones and steels but the Henckels knife sharpner is great.2 passes through (lightly) and your good to go for many cutting jobs.

  2. I'm the kind of person that likes simplicity. I don't need a block of 20 knives when I can buy two or three high quality knives for a comparable price. I already have a JAH large knife. I needed something a bit smaller to complement it. For Christmas my mom got me a block of JAH knives for 49.99, though they were not the four-star quality. I took them back and bought only this knife, saving myself $30. It was a great exchange. I love this knife. I cut a lot of vegetables and fruit. This knife cuts clean through without catching. Highly recommended.

  3. My favorite. This paring knife is heftier than most, but well balanced and has a good feel in the hand. And it's attractive in appearance! Made in Germany. I'm not sure what they mean by "twin": it is a single knife with one single-edged blade (just like your average kitchen knife). Unlike many knives, however, the haft end of the blade thickens gradually and meets the end of the handle flush, rather than having the thin blade inserted into the handle. There must also be more of the blade steel that goes into the handle, since the balance point of the knife is about midlength. In general shape, it reminds me of a hunting knife my dad used to have.

  4. I have several knives from the 4 star collection of Henckels and have had them for years...I replaced this paring knife because I had lost mine and thought perhaps it wound up in the trash...so I bought a new one..and no sooner did it arrive then I found the missing one!...now I have two..but no biggie..they must be the most used knives in my kitchen for prep work..The other knife I love from this line is the Santuko Riveted knife...If you are looking for a great knife at a reasonable price give Henckels a try..you wont be sorry!

  5. I didn't think I'd ever again buy a German or French made kitchen knife: too heavy, too thick compared to Japanese knives. The reviews suggested that this knife was well made with a thinner blade and it was half the price of the next closest Japanese knife. Worth a try. Very nice knife. Light, sharp, good in the hand, and easy to clean. Initial very sharp edge has stayed sharp a long time where the French blade it replaced would have had to have been sharpened at least twice. Worth the money.

  1. This is a superb prep knife that can be used for almost anything in cooking. I find myself over-reaching its bounds at times because it is so sharp and easy to use that I forget about larger knives nearby in the kitchen. Given its size and price, it would make a good steak knife in a geek household.

  2. BUT, you can cut anything from chicken to veggies with this knife (of course, you don't want to cut raw meat and then use it on veggies without washing it!)... It is extremely sharp and will cut tomato slices quite nicely and thin which is wonderful for BLT's if you like to stack tomatoes... But, it also is nice for trimming fat off meats, etc. because of the serration. I have 3 or 4 of these because I use them so much... OH, you can also use it to get mayo out of a jar... and then use it to slice your tomato, etc... with the same knife--- I've even bought these for gifts...

  3. I bought this knife to use as a slicing knife for soft things like tomatoes and kiwis. It works great and can also used for slicing carrots, potatoes, celery, citrus, etc. The cutting edge extends part way around the tip of the knife, so be careful as this baby is very sharp and it's easy to cut yourself because of the shape of the blade. I managed to slice two parallel cuts in a finger getting it out of the !#@%&! clamshell package! It's lightweight, well balanced, the handle is textured and non-slip, and the edge is wavy, not serrated, so it makes smooth cuts. It's a great little utility knife.

  4. This is an awesome knife, I also bought the larger Santoku blade so this is a great extra. Its best for things like tomatoes, citrus, or anything that isnt needing a larger knife. The serrated blade is extremeley sharp and will cut through anything without tearing!

    love it!

  5. This popped up when I was ordering a Chef's knife in the Victorinox line, as one of those 'others who purchased that knife also purchased this item...' For the price, I figured 'what have I got to lose -- and I won't have to pay shipping!' Next time I need to make a purchase thru Amazon, I'll buy several more -- to keep as spares and to give as gifts. Be careful, though -- it's very sharp!!

  1. This is a very easy-to-use, very sharp paring knife. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it performed, particularly considering the ridiculously low price.

  2. I ordered this knife based on the recommendations of COOKS ILLUSTRATED. I am very pleased w/ the quality of this knife. I would buy again.

  3. This is a good knife but not as good as the Chef knife that I got with it. Still better than average and it was less than 4 bucks!

  4. my boyfriend bought me this knife (how funny is that! :)) and its a great practical addition to my kitchen.

  5. I truly love these knives. They feel good in the hand, are very sharp and are very reasonably priced. I received mine as a gift and recently purchased some for my son for his first apartment. Highly recommended.

  1. For this amount of money, you can get 4 very "sharp" multitasking knives.

The red one that I thought, I would use the lest out of the 4, is what I use daily in the kitchen.Truly multitasking. Delicate fruits/ any bread/ sandwich/cake

The green one- any job can be done with it in the kitchen.

The other two knives work greatly as backup knives.

One could say that the knives are cheap looking with those vivid colors of the knives. However, the color code was one of the reasons for my purchase. I tend to lose small knives- so far 4 henkel 4 star paring knives have been lost. The color code helps me keep track of the knives and prevent me from cutting myself when I take out the knives from the drawer.

    Highly recommended.

  2. Got these for use in the RV - the colored handles make them easy to see in the drawer - no accidents! Nice product - especially at this price.

  3. My mother was in need of paring knives and I read the reviews on this set and decided to get them for her. They arrived while I was visiting her for three weeks and I used them daily. They feel good in the hand. The handles are long enough and the blades are thin making them easy to maneuver when coring apples, peeling potatoes or sectioning oranges. The blades arrived sharp and overall they seem to be a good bargain. I will be ordering a set for myself as they are a good compliment for any existing knife set. Just remember that they are 'paring' knives, designed to cut fruit and vegetables in the hand more than to slice or chop on a cutting board.

  4. Highly recommend this set of knives. I use them all the time for everything from cutting a piece of fruit to slicing cheese. Love the color coded handles too. They are very sharp and the blades are nice and fine (thin). I got them to replace a very old set of Henkels paring knives. If you take care of these, they will last many years.

  5. I was delighted to receive these knives, and even more delighted after using them. But then came the disappointment ... rusting after two uses (already!) on the blades.

Package clearly says "dishwasher safe." There is no good reason to handwash this knife, given it's materials & price.

I would have been better off picking up the 4-piece set of Chicago Cutlery paring knives for under $4 ... at least they won't rust in the dishwasher.

  1. I am very happy with these great all around knives, use them for everything, all the time, very handy

  2. These are totally worth the price. There's nothing to dislike about them at all. I love the curved knife for pealing potatoes or fruit. The strait one is great for general purposes and small slicing. The serrated knife is great for tougher things or smaller portions of cooked meats. It would actually be an ace steak knife! Overall I LOVE this set! And it's used several times a day in this house!

  3. Knives are lightweight and do an excellent job of paring. I bought a chef's knife for my son. He is very pleased.

  4. Great, sharp knives. Thanks to Americas Test Kitchen for the great review which encouraged me to purchase these knives. They are the best I have had and great value.

  5. I purchased these on somewhat of a whim as my older paring knives were getting worn. They have quickly become the first knives I reach for. The varied selection fulfill most of my daily needs. They are sharp and lightweight which is especially handy for a woman. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and it didn't "break the bank". I think they will sharpen easily when needed and last for many, many years.

  1. Everything I am looking for in a paring knife... I will be buying another one after discovering how great it works for me. Fantastic price for such an awesome knife.

  2. This is absolutely the best paring knife I've ever purchased. I bought it after reading in Cooks Illustrated that it beat its more expensive peers in essentially all of their tests, and it has done the same in my kitchen. It is a little more flexible than most paring knives, though still rigid enough to be used with anything. I end up using it for tasks that would normally require a much larger chef's knife because it's so convenient and comfortable.

I generally use Wusthof Classic knives, including a Wüsthof Gourmet 4-Inch Paring Knife that costs $19. That's enough to buy three of these perfect little Forschner knives and still have some money left over. Do yourself a favor and buy the three Forschner ones.

Since my original purchase, I have bought at least 5 more of these knives for myself and others. Never will your loved ones be so thankful for a $5 gift!

I've had these knives for a while and have had no issues with them losing sharpness -- I occasionally run the knife over a sharpening steel just to make sure the blade is still aligned, but it really shouldn't require any care. And if you do have any problems -- hey, it only cost five bucks.

  3. This is a great little knife for a great price! I have an assortment of more expensive paring knives, none of which keeps an edge for very long. This one keeps its edge, is light and easy to hold, and was cheap.

  4. This knife has a good feel to it and is very sharp though I would not consider it a "paring" knife. I would recommend it because it's good quality at a great price. (My idea of a paring knife is something a little smaller with a curved handle and blade.)

  5. Paring knives have their rightful place in your kitchen. This little fella was rated tops on America's test kitchen.
