5 comments about Mundial Solid Wood In-Drawer Knife Storage Tray, Large.
  1. We had a dedicated knife drawer in the Wood-Mode cabinets at our previous house. The drawer had a beautiful maple slab with slits for each knife and a fitted mat to cushion the handles. Nice, but a waste of space and ridiculously expensive. When we moved to downsize we got the Mundial unit. We were amused to see that the Mundial knife tray stored the same number of knives in less than 1/3 of the space, is just as easy to access and the cost is around 5% of what Wood-Mode charge. The quality and finish are excellent.

  2. The spacing for the large knifes was wider than for the small knifes so they didn't fit as securely. I have a Hinkle holder which I like better. I got this one since it holds a few more knifes. The picture of this knife holder, on website, didn't show from the top, so the spacing didn't appear unusual. The picture is more from the side.

  3. The tray I received was much lighter than the tray pictured. However, the one I received compliments the color of the inside of the drawer nicely. It's a nice solid well built knife tray. The only problem I've had with it is that it tends to slide towards the back of the drawer when I close the drawer. I'll need to get some rubber feet or put a piece of rubber drawer liner underneath it to keep it from sliding around.

  4. I bought the large and small versions to put in a 25 inch wide drawer for all our knives. Good quality. Good finish. Keeps all knives handy and better than the counter-top knife blocks we were using.

  5. I bought this as well as the Henckel one. It is much easier to get the shorter knives out of this one than out of the Henckel because you can grab the knives more easily. Also, the large knives rest better in this model than in the Henckel one because of the gaps (the Henckel one has a solid, triangular block and the knives have a tendency to wiggle left to right a little.) I think both models are good but I would rather buy this one again.

  1. I needed something to transport my knives from class, to home, and to our vacation cabin. This was well priced, good quality and very functional. It kept everything very secure. Much better price than the chef supply store!

  2. We use this to store our old extra knives for when we go to friends' houses or travel to cook. This is a great way to carry them without worrying about damaging the blades or having the blades damage anything else...

  3. This little roll is perfect for storing multiple knives, especially if you're like me and you have enough for 4 butchers blocks. My only issue with it, is how loosely the knives fit. I'd like them to be held down a little more tightly. All in all, its a great item for that being my only complaint. It looks good, completely functional and is great to keeping knives out of drawers.

  4. The knife holder worked very well for traveling, protecting my precious knifes (and surrounding materials) during my recent two week trip. If you travel - and must have your knives, this item is well worth the money.

  5. The knife roll fits my 10" chefs and 10" carver with no problems. It's not quite long enough for my steel, but I'm not sure if any knife roll would be. Very simple, works well, and priced fairly.

  1. Great product, keep your knives in a drawer without worrying about
losing the edge, or your fingers!

  2. Unlike some inexpensive sleeves, these plastic protectors slide snugly over the honed edge of the blade and give really good protection from banging around in a drawer. I would have preferred another 8" sheath and one less paring knife but the set is great anyway.

  3. I can't get a knife safely into these knife savers because they are so tight! The only way for me to insert a knife is to have the blade side pointing up, and even then with all the wiggling to try to get the knife inserted, the blade comes out, creating a dangerous hazard. The knives don't come close to fitting with the blade facing down. Avoid these unless you want to cut up your hand!!!

  4. I ordered the Blade Savers because I have limited counter space and unfortunately no room for a knife block. They work great for keeping my knives sharp and my fingers safe in the utensil drawer. The only reason I did not give them five stars is because I wish you could order them by size instead of a set.

  5. I recently bought a few high quality knives and for some reason the store did not have blade protectors in stock.

Before even unpacking the knives I ordered this blade protector set as I did not want the blades nicked.

They are well made but I wish there were a few more larger sizes in the set.

  1. An excellent product! Knives should be dry before using block for storage otherwise, a water stain will develop at each slot over time.

  2. I just bought this with some knives to give as a present. I was quite upset to see a huge "Free Gift with Purchase" label plastered all over the front of it. There is no way to remove the label. And there was no mention of this promotion in the item description. I have contacted Amazon customer service and haven't received any response. Just be aware if you're buying this as a gift.

  3. This thing is great, a few bucks and my $140 Shun, $70 Kyocera etc. are bung free and safe... no brainer, nice quality...

  4. J.A. Henckels' knife storage block is ok for those of us who look for a workable reasonably priced way of storing knives. The wood is not as highly polished as it appears on the photos and the little Henckels logo block on the front is of a slightly different grain of wood. However, everything matches well enough to put on my new kitchen counter and I enjoy the convenience of countertop storage. The price at $19.99 is reasonable in my opinion for this very functional item.

  5. RETURN ITEM:::
I WAS "TOTALLY" DISAPPOINTED. MY HENCKELS KNIVES DIDN'T FIT "PROPERLY" IN THE SLOTS. I RECOMMEND PURCHASING THE "ENTIRE" SET OF "YOUR CHOICE" OF HENCKEL BLOCK KNIVES.

  1. I bought this "Henckels Twin Signature 7-Piece Block Set as $99.95.

Thre price of $99.95 for this set is the best among all retailers.

  2. This is probably the best "beginner" knife set I've seen. Extremely good quality, and amazingly affordable especially when on sale at Amazon (as the often are). I purchased these and another one for a friend. Highly recommend.

  3. All in all, a great set of home-use knives. It's not pro-level quality, but you're not paying hundreds of dollars either. For the price and if you're just looking for a nice set of brand-name knives for daily use...I would highly recommend these. My visitors who know enough about knives to recognize the brand thinks they are 'really really' expensive knives...so a good way to show off with out paying a lot.

  4. I have to say, I was a little skeptical about buying expensive knives after always shopping at walmart for this type of thing. I actually bought them for my husband for Christmas because he loves to cook. My first cut Christmas day was a tomato and I am now a TRUE BELIEVER! These knives are perfect! I will be adding to the set! My favorite is the paring knive, at first the slightly curved blade threw me off, but with the balanced handle and the curved blade I have no slippage issues with the fruits or veggies as I cut! I never realized how much more effort I exerted using bad knives, now it takes very little effort to cut and peel items for dinner and snacks, I have especially noticed a difference with potatoes and apples. The handles are fantastic with the curved hand grip, it fits extremely small hands like mine but it fits my husbands large hands perfectly also. Amazing knives, I definitely would recomend them to anyone. I had just bought a set of santoku knives by a famous chef 2 weeks before Christmas and have not touched them since!

  5. The Twin Signature is the lower end of Henckels more professional brand. The knives are sleek, very sharp. Great Value for great price (when on sale).

  1. Easy to install, you don't need to worry about finding a stud. Holds tight to the wall.

  2. Great kitchen item, magnet is just right strength, but I ordered a wooden one and got shiny metal. I'm happy with the product but would give the seller a much lower rating.

  3. Pros:
-Strong enough magnet to hold heavy knives like a cleaver
    -Easy to install. screws included

    Cons:
-Actual measurement of the magnetic strip is just a little bit more than 13 inches. You may wish it is 6 inches longer. It can comfortably hold around 5 knives side by side
-Will it rust? It did not say it is stainless steel.

  4. I just installed this and put my knives on, so I guess I'm not quite the expert. It was very easy to install and seems very sturdy. Before I put my knives on, I really pulled on it and it wouldn't budge. I put a longer screw into a stud on one side, and the other side just has the screw it came with. I was able to fit an 8-inch chef's knife, 10 1/2-inch bread knife, 7-inch santoku knife, cheese knife, my sharpening steel, and my kitchen scissors. I'm ordering another one right now because I have a strong urge to hang all my utensils up!

  5. This product works great. I had my husband install it according to someone else's instructions on a review and it seems really sturdy. My only problem is I like it so much I wish I had two!

  1. I love this knife tray. It help keep my knives sharp and out of the way.

  2. An excellent storage locale for favorite knives. Fits neatly into standard drawer; holds steak knives, carving knives, assorted kitchen knives. I treasure my good knives; now I have the perfect, safe, out-of-sight place to keep them.J.A. Henckels International Classic Forged 13-Slot In-Drawer Knife Tray

  3. What a great product with a great fit into the drawer. I could not wait to get the knife block off of the counter to have a clutter free look on the countertops. Great quality and now a very organized drawer.

  4. I bought this item because I needed the knife block off my kitchen counter with my two year old monkey running around. I was a little bit disappointed that I couldn't find one to hold the santuko knives based on reviews, as we have two of them. Upon receiving this item, I was very excited, it fit perfectly into my utensil drawer with a bit of room on the side. My two santuko knives actually DID fit very nicely.

I have zero complaints about this item, it's a great bargain and perfect for baby-proofing (or monkey-proofing) your kitchen. Definitely a great buy!

  5. I recently moved to an urban setting with a much smaller kitchen than I'm used to, and was looking for ways to downsize my counter space usage. This knife tray was a perfect solution! Well-designed to hold my Henckels Pro-S set efficiently, and fits very well in a drawer.

I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get things off their countertop.

  1. I decided to forego a knife block and go with a magnetic strip when my knife collection outgrew my block. Most blocks will hold only 1 chef's knife or santoku, or two at the most. Putting them in a drawer and having the blades bump around each other would make them dull and inconvenient to access. A magnetic strip is ideal, and I love this one. The magnet is strong and the knives don't slip around in any way. You do need to be careful removing them, pivoting on the dull edge as you take the knife away from the strip to avoid having the cutting edge touch the holder. 3 knives with chef-size wide blades and 7 smaller width knives comfortably fit on the bar.

There were no installation instructions whatsoever in the box, but the bar included two walls anchors and screws. I figured out that the black plastic ends push out to access the screws. However, the anchors included with the bar were junk and didn't seem to work with drywall. After trying them unsuccessfully, I substituted my own metal Molly anchors and screws and it's now very secure. It doesn't wobble at all on the wall.

The extra bit of counterspace I have from being able to remove the bulky knife block is a bonus.

I'd definitely buy this again, but the installation hardware problem was really annoying.

  2. For a small kitchen, this knife magnet is a must have. It holds very strongly even our largest japanesse style knives. We even have serving silverware attached to it.

  3. Pros:
Magnet has the right strength. It holds haviest knives but taking off is easy.
20" is the right size. Knives are well spaced and you have some room for utensils.
    Solid build from stainless steel.
    Cons:
This bar is pretty slim (20mm), therefore knife handle is a little bit close to wall for big hands. I had to put bamboo coasters as spacers at the bar ends.
20" doesn't fit standard stud interval (16" or 24") and original anchors are cheap junk. Buy metal for drywall.
It has metal-metal contact with knives, so you may scratch your superduper damascus blades.

  4. this knife magnet is really well made and substantial. it looks so professional.I love it.make sure you measure the space where you want to put it;this is pretty large.

  5. The total length of the bar is 20", the magnetic part is 18.5".

Basically, everyone seems to like this magnetic bar. It has a sturdy, strong magnet, and it is a nice size. It accommodates my 9 knives (a couple of 10" chef's knives and 7 more utility/bread/paring knives) comfortably - any more would be a bit of a squeeze.

I used my own wall anchors, as someone else suggested. The ones that come with it would probably work, but they look like they would slip through the wall.

  1. We purchased this block to house our growing Henckels collection. We got a great deal on-line, fast delivery and this piece fits in so well on the counter, my wife didn't even notice it until a day later! Some of the slots are small if you're into the Santouko knives, but this will work well if you've got a more balanced set. Two thumbs up!

  2. I love the Henckels knife. I needed a bigger block and this did the trick.

  3. The knife block arrived on time and is an excellent value for the price. There are slots shaped for just about any knife or implement you might have. Too often knife blocks have only standard slots and I have some decidedly non-standard shaped knives and sharpening tools. This one handles every shape. Another thing I like is that the slots are long and deep enough so that even the longest knife doesn't poke out the bottom and gouge the counter top. The only downside to that depth is that the knife block is therefore very long and sticks out from the wall more than others, so it has to be placed sideways or in a corner out of the way.

  4. This item was exactly as described. Held all our knives, in a nice compact area. Very nice. Nice finish, lots of room, great purchase. Highly recommended.

  5. This block has enough slots that are large - to hold just about all knives you will need. It has a 3 1/2 inch for a cleaver and a couple of 2 inches for a Santoku and a large chef's knife. It has several 1 1/2 and 1 inch slots. It has a place to store your steel and kitchen shears. It has a fairly small footprint considering it holds 19 knives. It's about 5 inches by 11 1/2 inches.

  1. This knife bar looks very sharp hanging in my kitchen. I don't know why I stuck with that ugly, unhygienic, counter-hogging butcher block for so long! It mounted easily, is sturdy and has just the right amount of magnetism. My only advice would be to get two! I find myself sticking all kinds of kitchen utensils to this, and no more "losing" the scissors.

  2. This is perfect, its strong enough for even my largest knife! I have a small apartment kitchen and about 6 - 7 knives (4 large ones) and others that are medium to small all fit with ease. Its very handy and once away from traffic is a safe way to store knives!

  3. I searched for some time for the "right" knife holder, one that would not take much space, but that would hold every knife I use regularly. This compact unit does the job beautifully. The magnets are strong, and hold even the knives with the thinnest blades easily, and was easy to attach to the wall. 14" of the 15" is usable, though I do wish they had incorporated some way to store my knife sharpening steel as well, but a heavy duty cup hook took care of that.

I have nine knives on the bar, ranging from the thinnest paring knife to the sturdiest chef's knife and can easily remove and replace them with ease, and nothing ever slips or slides. Well done!

  4. I love the look of this knife magnet. Holds big and small knives securely. Installed easily.

  5. Very sturdy construction, and heavy. I thought I might use a two sided adhesive to apply this to the side of the fridge. Once I felt the heft of this product I knew I would have to find a place to use screws. Magnet is excellent at holding knifes with a large surface area. Boning and fillet knifes are held well, but be sure to have a good grip on them when removing them from the bar, as they release a lot easier than large knifes. Global knifes look particularly well with the design of this bar. I like this product enough that I will be purchasing another.
