5 comments about Pure Komachi by Kai 6-Inch Stainless-Steel Sandwich Knife.
  1. My second Komachi knife. I have made yeast bread for years and purchased their bread knife several years back and it's been the best bread knife for slicing homemade bread. When I saw this sandwich knife on Amazon I jumped on it. It is, as I expected, another great Komachi knife that I use on a regular basis.

  2. A great little tool, I can use the blade to cut my morning bagel, and the spreader side to schmear my cream cheese on it. Also does a nice job on tomatoes, or anything with a firm exterior and soft interior. Handy multipurpose gizmo for the kitchen away from home.

  3. We tend to buy a lot of French bread, and this knife works perfectly, without crushing the bread. Also, does a great job without squishing a sandwich. Very versatile, easy to clean and SHARP!!!

  4. The quality of materials and workmanship are excellent on this sandwich knife; it was bigger (wider blade) than I had expected - makes getting into smaller mustard jars a little tricky or impossible. Purchased as gift for mom, who seemed to like it.

  5. The paint comes off if they are used much and the most used gets dull.
I'd love to return or find out what the problem is. I bought 2 friends
complete sets as well as myself. All three sets are doing this.

5 comments about Chicago Cutlery Centurion 8-Inch Bread Knife.
  1. I bought this product because my old bread knife was one of those very thin, 1960's models. I could not slice a loaf of bread evenly with it. The Centurion has a good balance and weight in my hand. I can slice through a loaf of 100% wholewheat bread, and the slices come out just like I want them to. Excellent knife, I'm glad I purchased it.

  2. It's inexpensive and it works well. What more could I ask for?

  3. Chicago Cutlery makes really decent knives for the price. I now own two different knives and am quite impressed with the quality. Heavy duty, sturdy handles... good weight to them.

  4. After looking at the positive reviews for this knife, I was expecting a solid entry. It does what it's supposed to do: cut bread, but not easily or crumblessly. Even a fresh baguette requires some extra effort. If I was buying another bread knife (which I'm considering now after having had this knife for 6 months now), I'd definitely not get this one.

  5. I was disappointed after using my knife for the first time then placing it in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes and my steak knives. When I removed the knife the next morning I noted some rust spots on the blade. Good sharp knife but hand wash it and dry it immediately.

  1. if you like bread and don't cut it 24h hours a day, buy this knive instead of the 4 star version.

    why?

    - the twin select are nice sharp knives
    - it is a bread knive, you don't use it so often like a chef knive!
    - the handling is fine
    - it's cheap

I own 2 twin selects and 4 4 stars. And must say the handling of fourstar is better and you want to have the filet knive or chefs knive from this series, or better some japanese knieve ( way sharper, but hard to maintain, I'm lazy), but for cutting bread, go with this one, the handling is not so important for cutting bread, and it does'nt squeeze my ciabatta or french bread!

  2. I sent this knife to my son who is a baker by profession--he loves this knife. It doesn't mash the bread and cuts through crusty crusts! I higly recommend it to anyone.

  3. This is a very easy to use and clean coffee grinder. FOr the price one of the best in its class.

  4. Was pleased that the Henckel Twin Signature Bread Knife met the quality and craftsmanship expected of this manufacturer. Cuts easily thru bread and is excellent for slicing tomatoes and onions. Excellent buy

  1. So sharp I almost cut my cutting board in half!! Love it!!

  2. This is an offset bread knife which is exactly what I wanted. It's a very good knife. It cuts even the crustiest of breads, but for me, personally, with arthritic hands, the offset just isn't as deep as I would have liked. But I didn't know I would need a deeper offset when I bought it. So, for anyone else I give this knife 5 stars-it is perfect in balance and weight and length.

  1. A really great, sharp knife. Cuts through freshly baked bread! Well balanced in your hand. A great buy!

  2. This thing cuts bread like nothing else. The knife arrived with an absolutely razor sharp edge. Yikes! All you have to do is hold it gently and saw back and forth and gravity essentially does all the downward pulling for you. A very sturdy knife with comfortable handle and good balance. Highly recommended.

  3. I love this knife - it cuts through bread effortlessly. After struggling with a dull bread knife for years, I'm so happy to finally have one that's razor sharp. Another plus is the price - it's amazingly low for such an excellent product. Highly recommended.

  4. Perfect bread knife for slicing fresh baked bread without smooshing it. Works especially well on thick crusty breads. Also slices ripe tomatoes paper thin. Priced very reasonable at twenty dollars.

  5. Super sharp, well balanced, very comfortable in the hand. A super value for the money. Highly recommend.

  1. I ordered this knife to replace an old, tired bread knife. I could not be more pleased with the precision cutting of this Komachi Bread Knife. I make lots of homemade breads, many whole wheat, and this sliced the bread nice and even and not jagged like my old knife. I do highly recommend this knife and would definitely consider purchasing another as a gift.

  2. This is a great knife! Probably the best bread knife I've owned & a great price! Well worth it!

  3. terrific and attractive bread knife. wish it was 2 inches longer for my homemade loaves.

  4. What a cool knife! It looks good, and cuts great.

I bought one of these for someone else. I thought this was an inexpensive and handy item to have. But now that I've used it a few times, I've ordered one for myself as well! I've used my old bread knife for years, but once I used this one I realized my old one just wasn't cutting it (no pun intended).

Before, I had to be very very careful when cutting bread, lest crumbs fly everywhere, or I'd crush the bread. With this knife, you glide right through even tough crusts and can cut even slices without crushing the bread or making a mess.

  5. The coating peeled off this knife within a month of owning it. After flakes of the coating started getting in food, I had to throw it away. A complete waste of money.

  1. This knife has had consistent performance when cutting breads and cakes. I've had the knife for almost a year and it cuts as well now as it did when I bought it. I've also bought one for my mother-in-law and she is in love with this knife as well. It's definitely been money well spent.

  2. Please be aware this is not a J.A. Henckels knife. It is a very cheap imitation and not worth a cent!

  3. I purchased this bread knife along with the 3 piece gift set (twin Henckels). This slices through the bread with no effort. I would recommend it. I also love the 3 piece set. Better than any knives I've had. I've only had them for a week, so I don't know how often they'll need sharpening. I am being careful to use the recommended boards and hand washing them.

  4. It looks like a lower quality product from J.A. Henckels. The knife is heavier and thicker than I expected. Not much to say about this product.

  5. I really like this bread knife. It is a large size and feels good in my hands. It is good for slicing a variety of breads. I espeically like the way it doesn't tear loaf breads like banana and zucchini. It is good for delicate quick breads like scones and it works easily on hard rolls. I am pleased with this purchase and I do recommend Henckels products.

  1. I bought this strictly because I was so pleased with the Forschner 8-inch chef's knife I bought a few months ago and was not disappointed. Chopped rock hard bulk chocolate like it was butter, made short work of crusty-outside soft-inside baguettes, and effortlessly sliced tomato wafer thin.
These Forschner knives are the best quality for value PRODUCTS, not just knives, I've ever encountered. Buy some!

  2. THIS IS A FANTASTIC BREAD KNIFE. SLICES RIGHT THROUGH CRUSTY BREADS WITH- OUT TEARING THEM APART. ALSO IS GREAT WITH TOMATOES.

  3. Very nice for general cutting purposes, touch with cooked sandwiches. IE: Grilled cheese and ham & cheese bagel.

  4. Forschner knives are SO good for the money, and this one is my favorite. If you ever slice French bread, artisan bread, anything that needs a sharp serrated blade with the ability to make perfect slices, this is it. You will never squash a loaf of bread again.

  1. I work in a restaurant kitchen where I prep the entire menu daily. I've used the Fibrox 10" chef knife for over a year and am very satisfied. The 10.25" bread knife is a recent purchase that I use for tomatoes, romaine, squash and other items that must be sliced in bulk. This is a very good knife at a great price - not so expensive that I worry about damaging the blade but sharp enough to get the job done. Only downside? Because this knife is ground on only one side, the blade tends to travel away from straight line cuts.

  2. Great knife, good price. Have only had it a few weeks but so far seems like it'll be my favorite, I'll be using it a lot. Really sharp, cuts very well.

  3. I suspect that from now on, I will only buy Froschner knives. They don't look all that good, but are outstandingly engineered.

We already had the very nice Chicago Cutlery 10" bread knife when I thought of buy this since the Chicago knife tended to "pull" to the left when I cut. This knife also has a slight pull but the depth of the blad allows for more control.

The fibrox handle has a nice feel, though not as nice appearance as the walnut on the Chicago Cutlery knife.

The knife is sharp and perfect for cutting anything from delicate pasties up to crusty European bread. It's a winner.

  4. I bought this based on the America's Test Kitchen review, but was somewhat skeptical. When I used it I was completely won over. Best I've used, even though not impressive looking. If you want function over beauty, get this.

  5. I have been looking for bread knife longer than the typical 8" but also one that had an offset handle. I make some larger loaves in the oven but even my breadmaker loaves are a bit big for an 8" knife. The curved blade and long length of this knife make any size loaf workable. If I have one concern it is that when cutting a heavy or stiff bread the blade drifts one direction or the other. I have learned to compensate for that characteristic. For that I would deduct a star but, this knife cuts a whole lot more than bread. I use it for meat, tomatoes, mushrooms, or most anything in the vegetable kingdom and meats (but not bones).
At $26 or so, it is a great value. I looked back on my Amazon purchase and found that I paid a lot less.

No need to spend a lot for a good slicer.
I also like the feel of the wood handle.

  3. I always had trouble cutting my homemade bread with the knives I have. This knife combined with the bread cutter makes slicing homemade bread so easy.

  4. This knife is great altho I love everything about Chicago Cutlery. Their products are super. This knife, commonly called, a bread knife is so much more. I can even cut through chicken and the serrated blade stays sharp.

  5. Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 10-Inch Serrated Bread/Slicing Knife Just what I wanted for easy whole loaf bread slicing..doesnt tear the soft bread..well balanced..great value for your bucks...............
