  1. After two inferior timers, I put my obsessive-compulsive tendencies to work on finding the perfect (quality, ease-of-use, styling, pricepoint) kitchen timer. I think this is about as close as you can come. I disagree with the reviewer who thought it looked cheap and gave it only 3 stars before even trying it out. Although the timer is about twice as heavy as the last one I tried out, the magnet is very strong so no problem putting it on the stove or fridge (it practically jumps on). Although I'm keeping the illustrated instruction booklet handy, so far it's been totally intuitive and I haven't referred to instructions at all - even using both timers. Oh, and then there's that: TWO timers, one with hours - up to 99 hours, in fact. Solid, easy, stylish little machine, and with amazon's free shipping and only one battery needed, practically a bargain. The color is lighter than the picture, a light grey, and the magnet/belt clip is the same construction as a different-brand timer I tried that broke almost immediately. So far, so good on this one, though, and I've used it alot more than the one that broke. Oh, and another disagreement with the 3* reviewer: the alarm is LOUD!

  2. Well I got this delivered to my job today. I'm looking at it right now. First I bought this because of the great reviews that I read here. Also it looked great on my p/c sceen.

In person it looks like a piece of cheap chap! It looks like it will break if you change the battery.

On my p/c it looks like it has black trim in person it has a grayish trim to it. My kitchen is black and stainless steel. So far not worth what I paid for it.

I'll give you all an up-date when I get home and try it out. Hope that it will at the very least preform better then it looks.

    UPDATE April 1st, 2008;

I went home and tried it out. The set up is very easy. The alarm isn't loud enought for me. I like to watch TV and cook at the same time and I require a kitchen timer that is loud enought for me to hear.

My rating for this kitchen timer is now 4 stars instead of 3 stars since the set up is easy and it has a very strong magnet on the back.

  3. This alarm is loud and as a duel alarm worth the money. Would definitely recommend.

  4. I purchased this timer so I could time things wherever I was. I liked the idea that it could time 2 intervals at a time. I have used it for several months and have found it to work flawlessly. It is clipped to a stationary item which holds it up for easy viewing. The desired time is easy to set up and stop. The adequately-loud alarm sounds for a few minutes, but eventually turns off without my intervention.

  5. Superior Quality, Easy to use, Strong magnet holds on frig or stove. Highly recommended addition to any kitchen.

  1. This timer looks great and that is where it stops (literally). The one I received, stops (on either side) well before the time is up, I need to use a back-up timer! I paid too much money for a timer that is NOT reliable. Perhaps mine is defective, but I would not recommend this product.

  2. I bought this timer because it looked nice and retro, plus I thought the two timers would come in handy for cooking two things at the same time. And that feature would have been great if the timer had worked--at all. You have to "wind up" the timer before setting it, and even then the ring was so weak is would be ineffective. Both timers, I felt, had weak rings and if a lot was going on at your house around dinner time, it would be easy to miss them both. I'd stay away from this one and buy a good, reliable old OXO or kitchen aid for a decent timer. This one looked cute, but worked poorly.

  3. I was drawn to this timer because of it's somewhat retro, stylistic look. Unfortunately, only one of the timers on it worked. After reading ratings in Cook's Illustrated, I have decided to go with a digital readout thermometer which they recommend. Save your money and get a digital timer!

  4. This is a cute little timer with a creative gimmick. One dial counts to 60 minutes; the other dial counts up to 20 minutes in 15 second intervals, making it perfect for those shorter kitchen tasks. The knobs are rubberized and the timer itself has a non-skid base. You must wind the knob all the way around (one full revolution) in order to set the timer. This gadget also comes in neat colors: blue, red, yellow, white, and nickel.

Sounds good so far, and I thought so too, until I actually got my hands on one. The 60-minute timer will ring a full minute BEFORE the set time, while the 20-minute timer will ring 30 seconds BEFORE the set time. Both timers will NOT RING AGAIN after the first ring. I don't know about other people, but I prefer my timers to go off at a pre-set time, not a minute or several seconds later. So if my cookies need to come out of the oven in 10 minutes, I set the timer for 11 minutes instead. I find that inconvenient.

Also, I don't know if I got a defective unit, but I have to wind up the 60-minute timer TWICE and let it ring, before it starts to tick. The 20-minute timer needs just a once-around.

Lastly, if you are in any way absent-minded, you might want to consider just getting those old-fashioned single timers instead of this one. With two timers going at the same time, I found that I sometimes forget which timer was timing which task. However, if none of the above comments fazes you, then this timer might be worth it.

  1. This timer does not ring unless you turn it to your desired time, turn it back to 0, make it ring and then set it again. Don't waste your money- it should work when set! I have replaced it w/ a wonderful timer made by Oxo. Look at their products instead!

  2. Have been using it for a while. Nice timer. Don't know what other reviewers were talking about. It worked for me perfect. The only complaint (if any) is that it actually rings at somewhere 1~2 but zero.

  3. The timer clicks down but doesnt ring at zero. Actually it did once, just for a second. It looks nice but I wouldnt trust something this unreliable. Even if they replaced it with a new one I'd always be wondering.

  4. It's one of those terrible hard plastic packages that you practically need to cut into with a buzz saw. Why make it so hard to open the darn thing. That said - it looks nice. Grumble grumble.
