  1. Patisse Steam Pudding Mold, 1/2-LiterThe pudding mold arrived in good condition and looked like what I wanted. I didn't use it however because I was giving it as a gift.

  2. I wanted to try something different for our Christmas dinner, an old fashion English dinner, with the roast goose, roasted chestnuts, and to top it off with a figgy pudding. For the figgy pudding, I needed a steamed pudding mold. I searched the internet, including some stores in England, for a mold and the only place I found one was on Amazon, at the kitchenstore ontenth. Thank You Amazon for saving my dream.

  1. It came out really cute! I had no problem with the release. Just be sure and use a good spray of canola oil and let them cool quite a bit. Also, don't overfill the mold, or you'll be cutting them apart, rather than popping them out. I used really bright colors of buttercream frosting and the end result was great.

There was only one negative and that was that the finished product comes out on the small side, so it's good for toddlers, but you'll need to count on seconds if the children are older.

  2. I used this pan last night and absolutely love it! I would definitely recommend this, or any of the similar shaped cupcake cake pans, to anyone. Super easy to decorate, and everyone loved them. I even used my tip to make filled cupcakes and had no problems at all. :o)

I used a box cake mix, and sprayed the pan with a very good layer of Pam (they claim silicone pans don't need non-stick spray, but really...EVERY pan needs non-stick spray). The trick to removing them easily is to let the cupcakes cool completely in the pan - I think if you try to take them out while it's still warm, they're much more likely to break, crack, stick, and otherwise fall apart. I left mine in there overnight and they came out beautifully.

  3. I bought this pan for my daughter's birthday party. I decided to test it out prior to the "event" and I'm glad I did! I used Pam, but the cake totally stuck. I then tried it again (boxed mix, both times) and lined each individual section with parchment paper (a REAL PAIN), PAM'd that, and it was a little better.

Now, my daughter has her heart set on a butterfly cake, and I'm going to have to make this work out somehow. I will try it with a cake from scratch, as suggested by another reviewer...hopefully it will help! This pan is a real disappointment.

  4. This product is very fun for kids. I tried it the first day I got it with just a boxed cake mix and I only sprayed the pan a little with PAM. The cake stuck and it was very difficult to get out of the pan. The second time I used it, I made a homemade carrot cake and sprayed a lot of PAM on the pan. I think the pan needs a more dense cake such as a homemade cake, opposed to a boxed cake mix. The carrot cake came right out at the first try. My kids loved to help decorate the cake. It was fun for everyone.

5 comments about Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Saguaro Cactus Pan.

  1. This is a great little pan and lives up to the claims of being non stick. I did not have a bit of trouble with sticking. However, the Cactus shapes are very small and you need to use a small spoon to fill the designs. They are also very thin and will not hold much batter. Cornbread easily turns right out of the pan without sticking but they are so thin that you need to be extra careful not to break them. They are as cute as can be! Must admit that! Also, unless you can divide up a cornbread mix, figure on wasting about half of it unless you bake it in something else. By the time the first batch was done, my batter was to thick to get spooned & spread evenly into cactus shapes. Tried adding more liquid but just did not turn out right. This pan was a Great idea but if they would make the cavities deeper so bread wasn't so thin, it would be a perfect pan!

  2. works great, word of advice warm the pan up first before you put in the batter so it doesn't stick.

  3. Great product. No sticking. Shapes come out smooth & even. Keep product seasoned after each use

  4. lodge skillets are comparably well-priced but this cactus pan is in the same price range as the more user-friendly cast aluminum bakeware. The designs in the cactus are just straight lines. This is a very heavy pan.

  5. Even though the pan is pre-seasoned and using baking spray, cornbread frequently sticks, resulting in a non-cactus shaped lump of food. Then it is difficult to clean the small crevices. Not recommended.
