  1. What can you say about a bowl? These are heavy and useful. Beyond mixing they are super for pretzels and chips.

  1. I have been useing this brand for some time now. I love em, they are a nice heavy glass bowl. I use mine for bakeing/cooking, serveing, and prepareing foods. Good quality bowl

  2. great mixing bowl, will last many years. will not react since it's glass rather than metal. kitchen mainstay!

  3. Good basic bowl for mixing dough or making a salad. It is a bit too shallow to use a mixer for whipping cream or eggs (I use a Pyrex 8-cup measuring cup Pyrex Prepware 8-Cup Measuring Cup with Lid when I need to use a mixer). Dishwasher-safe and can be used to melt butter in the microwave oven, which is nice.

  4. I have owned the item for eight months. There have yet to be any issues with the bowl at this point in time. It arrived well packaged, unharmed. The glass is plenty thick and poses no risk of damage regardless of use. Works well as a large salad serving dish when required.

  1. Before you buy this item, know that if the cover is ever damaged in use and is no longer functional, Anchor Hocking will not supply a replacement. Their response: "Unfortunately, the plastic storageware covers for our ovenware pieces can only be purchased as a set (not sold separately) from a retail established business." I, for one, will only buy PYREX in the future.

  2. My two favorite food preparation vessels are the unlined copper bowl my wife gave me as a Christmas present, and this Anchor Hocking batter bowl. When we get together in the kitchen, you just know that a batch of Belgian waffles, pancakes or cornbread is on the way.

The bowl is made from thick-walled oven and microwave safe glass and includes a cover for use in the refrigerator or microwave oven. The cover also doubles as a bowl rest, catching any dribbles of batter before they hit the countertop. The sloping sides help you get a hand mixer's beaters into every drop of your batter and the handle provides rock-steady control when you pour. The molded-in quantity markings allow it to do double-duty as a 2-quart measuring cup in half-cup increments. The clincher, of course, is that the bowl and cover go right into the dishwasher after the last waffle is baked.

5 comments about Oxo Good Grips 1-1/2-Quart Mixing Bowl.

  1. I bought this and have been using it on an almost daily basis for about 2.5 months. The white and black looks chic, the rubber base helps hold the bowl down so things are not splattering all over the place. The size is enough for a family size batch of pancakes, or for washing a few cups of rice. The plastic is very durable and it does not stain. I have used spices and oils in it, but no stain...the tip of it is perfect for pouring. its a really great and durable product, well worth the price :)

  2. Like the companion 5qt (and 3qt if we could find one in stock LOL), this is an excellent bowl to have. The non-skid base and handle really make this product special. It pours nicely - it's actually perfect for mixing up a batch of waffle or pancake mix and pouring directly onto the griddle.

We do a lot of cooking and have an extremely well-stocked kitchen including a set of glass pyrex bowls in varying sizes and a set of stainless bowls in varying sizes. More and more, we find ourselves reaching for these Oxo bowls to meet our mixing needs.

With plastic, using a hand mixer or immersion blender is always iffy. Thus far, these have held up very well to the wear of the beaters. We're very anxious to obtain the 3qt size and are so impressed with the quality, we may just buy the 5qt/3qt/1.5qt set so we can have each size, and having double of the largest and smallest will NOT be a waste. Great purchase!

  3. This tidy hat used for bald men in Turkey, has recently been sold in America and it makes a wonderful gift to those who don't have much on the top of their head. Washes easily with soap and butter and can be used to remove termites from hairy dogs also. Can also be used in hundreds of other ways too numerous to mention.

  4. If only it came with a lid! Like the prep bowls do. OXO Good Grips 4-Piece Prep Bowl Set with Lids

  5. This bowl is perfect for whipping up batters. Great size, pour spout is good, no mess left behind. Non-slip bottom is perfect. I use this for just about everything, from cupcake batters to putting cut-up veggies for stir-fries.

  1. I haven't used the bowls yet but they are pretty and sturdy and perfect for fixing a salad and keeping things on the side.

  2. I have two sets of these and have rapidly found them indispensable in my kitchen. I keep two by the stove for salt and ground pepper, one for my rings for baking and the rest for prepping. They are a handy size and quite sturdy. They wash easily and look great. I hesitated to buy them because they are not from Amazon.com and I was reluctant to pay for shipping. I am glad that I did.

5 comments about Amco 4-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing bowl.

  1. This one is small and is better suited for small quantities. Not very appropriate for liquids, as they would splash out of the bowl, although a couple of beaten eggs can be worked fine in it, as well as a small amount of vinaigrette. For batter or whipping eggs, it is better to use a bigger one. It is very solid and sturdy and worth the higher price tag.

  2. I have a few of these bowls and they are great for making anything in the kitchen. They clean up really well by hand or just put them in the dishwasher. Buy one or more, you will love them that much!

  3. I have a set of 3 different size Amco mixing bowls and use all of them frequently. They nest together for easy storage and seldom a week goes by that I don't need to pull out at least one for some job in the kitchen. This is the middle-sized one of the three I have and works great for mixing up most box mixes, brownies, etc. All the Amco bowls are very solid, commercial grade and stainless steel, with a nice edge for gripping and a large flat surface on the bottom so they don't move around much when mixing in them. They really hold up well over time (I've had mine for 5 years now) and go through the dishwasher if need be without a problem.

  4. If you are considering both the 4qt. and the 6qt. you should know the 6qt. is only about 1/2qt. bigger than the 4qt. as indicated in other reviews.

  5. While I wasn't willing to plunk down $80 for an overpriced All-Clad mixing bowl, I was looking for a stronger than usual, commercial-style mixing bowl, sturdier than what is typically sold at say, Target or Bed Bath & Beyond.

This mixing bowl is easy on the wallet, and is a strong little number as well. The steel is definitely quality, and fairly thick, and the bottom is also flat for a better grip on one's countertop. I also purchased the smaller 2-quart bowl as well, and the bottom of that is sheathed in an attractive blue rubber, that also enhances traction on countertops.

My only gripe is that now I need to buy the 6 quart as well, for larger jobs such as cake batter or salads. Really a nice set. But, I'd say save yourself some money and get the bowls individually, rather than the set of 3 bowls for $49.99 that Amazon is also offering.

  1. Great looking product from Le Creuset that will compliment any kitchen decor. Well designed and build to last. Handling and pouring are easy tasks. An excellent companion for it is Le Creuset's silicone pot holder.

  2. This is fantastic, I actually saw it in the mall while on vacation and waited till I got home to see if Amazon had it. I love it. Nice shape, well made, nice pouring spout.
