  1. I've had All Clad LTD pans for a number of years now. I usually cook several times a day almost everyday & although these pans cook beautifully and the interior looks beautiful & cleans up easily, the anodized exterior looks terrible now. I wouldn't mind so much but I have them hanging on decorative pot rack. For that reason I want to replace them with the less expensive version in stainless steel but the financial loss is killing me. I don't have room in my small kitchen to put them away. We've had a stainless steel All-Clad sauce pan for a few years which still looks great and isn't embarrassing hanging from our rack. If you don't mind so much what your pots look like then these would probably be a great choice. If anyone knows any great secrets to keeping these looking great, please post them in the discussion area. I've contacted All-Clad several times and do exactly as they say without achieving any desired results.

  4. Unlike the reviewer below, I think this is an excellent pot - all you need to do is pick it up and compare it to the cheaper versions. Much more sturdy and hefty!!

There are many reasons why you might consider paying top dollar for an All-Clad LTD vs. a cheaper brand - first, the construction is much more solid, and the All-Clads have much more even heating across the surface of the pot. Yes, maybe the lightweight pots can boil water almost as quickly, but I typically make a roux in the stockpot first, and it can easily burn in a cheap pot due to uneven heating. Also, All-Clad pot retains heat much better, important for simmering without overcooking!

Finally, durability of the pot is a major factor. If you are an avid cook, I guarantee you will still be using your All-Clad pot 35 years from now. On the other hand, I've never had a Farberware last more than 2 or 3 years - they get coated with crap, and no longer heat quickly or evenly, and in general get too dinged up to use. If you are just a casual cook or maybe a single guy, don't spend your money on a pot of this quality. But if you are starting a household, maybe just got married, it is well worth the extra money now (save you from buying replacement cheap pots over the rest of your life!).

  5. This is certainly a nicely made stockpot, but it's not clear how it cooks things any better than, say, a solid stainless steel pot that cost half as much would--or 1/7 as much for that matter (cf. the 12-qt. stockpot by Farberware). The outer 'layer' of the LTD line seems much less like a layer than like a coating; it may make the stockpot less prone to scratches, but it does not make impervious to them as mine can attest. One concern with a large stockpot is that it will not transfer heat well enough to get the liquid to boil when it is near-full; this product will achieve boiling, but not appreciably better than other, far cheaper stockpots I've used.

  1. This stir fry pan by All-Clad is the most used piece in my All-Clad collection. I cook on a 30" Viking rangetop and this piece is perfect. From soup to cabbage this pan is surprisingly versatile. I'm back looking to by a second one now!

  2. I just bought this All-Clad LTD Butter Warmer from my local Viking Culinary Arts center. It was a bit pricey, but TOTALLY worth the money. If you have a small amount of ANYTHING that needs warming or melting, and you're tired of the uneven heating you get by putting a small amount of product in a too large pot, you will not regret this purchase. I've used it for melting jams and butter and it works equally well for both. Enjoy!

  1. This was my one big cookware splurge. The shape, with a large surface area for reductions, and the small size appealed to me. Well, I used it once and now want all my cookware to be All-Clad!

  1. LOVE THIS PAN. I received a much larger ALL-CLAD pan from my sister as a birthday gift, and was so impressed by it's performance, that I purchased this smaller pan. Two thumbs up! I love to cook, and have more cookware than I need, a lot of it non stick, but this was a must have for me. It's a great size, shape, and cleans up easily. The dome lid also makes it great for serving and keeping food hot. Nice presentation.
Very sturdy, well made but not too heavy, and good looking. I hate putting it away! Highly recommend.

  2. This is my favorite pan that I own. I use it multiple times a week for everything from spaghetti sauce to gravy to pork chops and roasts. It's even good for things that need to be seared and then cooked in the oven since it can go from cooktop to oven. Cleanup is easy, and this pan has lasted through some very harsh handling by people that aren't kitchen savvy. I've had it for 6 years now and it's still going strong.

  3. When I ordered this item, I thought I ordered the stainless steel pan, but when it came it was the LTD. Not a problem. I have had it two days and it is already my favorite pan. I made chicken Marsala for guests the first night and scrambled eggs for breakfast. One of the best things is that it is not only a cooking pan but a serving dish as well. Another point is that it takes less heat for cooking. Instead of turning on the burner at full power, I turn it to medium and I don't burn anything. No hot spots but a nice even heat over the entire pan. I will be proud to take this to our church's monthly potluck. It cleans up like a dream and is beautiful as well as making me look like a good cook. What more can I ask?

2 comments about All-Clad LTD 4-Quart Sauteuse Pan.

  1. Few items in our kitchen are as often used or as appreciated as this couldn't-do-without sauteuse pan. Its classic style, of course, is timeless and blends well with other accessories.

We were aware of All-Clad's enviable reputation for high quality cookware but were nonetheless surprised by the flexibility of use and wearability of this item.

At one time while cooking chicken parts the skins stuck to the bottom of the pan (My fault - I turned the heat too high). What would have been a chore to clean in any other utensil was a breeze in this pan.

There is a tradition in our family of serving a wine/beef stew at most family reunions. The recipe has been passed from one generation to the next with the caution to always prepare the dish in a cast iron pan. Imagine everyone's delight and surprise when we prepared this dish in our sauteuse and they declared that it had never tasted better.

The size of this sauteuse offers room to prepare for a few or a crowd. We are extremely pleased with this purchase.

  2. What can I say? It's an All-Clad product. Everything we've cooked in it from stuffed pork loin to simple chicken breasts has turned out perfectly. This pan heats evenly and fits nicely in the oven. It might be nice if it had a non-stick surface; however, I've never had any problem cleaning it. This sautuese costs more than similar products, but it will last a lifetime.
