5 comments about Chicago Metallic Commercial Cookie/Jelly Roll Pans, Set of 2.
- Top top quality, heavy construction, durable, keeps its shape in the heat, non-stick but doesn't use any coating (I hate coating), made of metal/aluminum so it doesn't corrode or get stained. You can simply feel the top quality of these pans. Best pans you'll even own. Great for cookies, bread...
- Chicago Metallic Commercial Cookie/Jelly Roll Pans, Set of 2The two pans are obviously packed together and when I opened the box, the top pan looked fine. However, when I separated the two, the pan on the bottom was dented on the two long sides. Consequently, when I use it, if there is any liquid, it pools. Guess I should have just gone to a store and avoided shipping.
- but for some discoloration I"m very pleased - they nest well, and are roomy.
I think they're also a good weight - not too heavy but sturdy
- I really, really would love to give these baking sheets five stars; after all, I have used Chicago Metallic baking products for years and absolutely love them. However, I recently ordered this set of two jelly roll pans and was a bit surprised upon seeing them. They did not appear to be of quite the same quality as the old jelly roll pan I have. The rolled edges were not as completely rolled over and tucked under as the edges on the old one. The corners were different too. Finally, the pans did not seem nearly so "heavy-duty" to me. I remember when I got the first pan - probably back in 2001 or 2002 - and I was very impressed, as other reviewers have noted, with how substantial the pan was. I wonder if I would have been as impressed if these pans had come instead.
At any rate, a thought came to my mind as I looked the new pans over. Were these made in China? So I took the label off and, sure enough, there in small print at the bottom, were the words, "Made in China." I can't say how disappointed I was! I actually still had the label from the original pan in my file cabinet and it said no such thing. In fact, it lists Chicago Metallic with the address to their Lake Zurich, IL manufacturing facility which, according to their 2005 catalog that is still on their website, is where their pans are (were) manufactured. The new label says Chicago Metallic, Focus Products Group LLC and a Vernon Hills, IL address, plus the aforementioned "Made in China."
I will say in fairness that these pans are still likely better than any pan you will buy at Walmart or any other discount store. Also, as a pro, they still offer a 25 year limited warranty. I think that next time, however, I will buy a commercial pan that is still made right here in the U.S.
- These jelly roll/sheet pans are extremely well built. They are very heavy and thick, do not warp, and should last a lifetime. They are the highest quality I have found, and I've owned many different brands.
Be aware though, that they are NOT in any way non-stick, and are hard to keep clean. If you don't mind breaking out the steel wool to keep these in shape, they are excellent - if you are looking for something that's easy maintenance, however, go with non-stick. Of course, none of the non-stick ones will last anywhere near as long, as the teflon finish wears off any cookware after a while.

- I really like my pans and rack. I use them alot! One of my pans arrived with sharp dent it in. I was quite bummed about that. Other than that I am very happy.
- I was looking to buy an additional half sheet pan and cooling rack. This combo suited me to a t. I wouldn't use it for cookies because it's too dark and retains too much heat for the light, chewy cookies I prefer, but this pan is perfect for much of my other baking.
- I just dried my hands off after washing one of these pans. I realized it was time to write a review. Earlier, I roasted a whole chicken directly on the pan. Chicken came out great. I was a bit concerned that I would ruin this pan. So many other pans never quite came clean after roasting. The oils would interact somehow with the nonstick coating and create a sticky glue. Not so with this pan. It came clean with the scouring side of a sponge and soap. It looks like new! This pan conducts heat great and is sturdy. It is a great deal- 2 pans and the cooling rack.
- Couldn't be more pleased. These baking sheets are good size, don't warp in oven heat and do what they are supposed to do. After years of using a variety of lighter, supposedly non-stick cookie sheets, I was delighted to find these. They are heavy enough not to warp and that can be cleaned easily without a hard-to-identify coating that adds nothing to value. Will look to Chicago Metallic when I need bakeware.
- Heavy duty non-stick pans are high quality and great price. Cooling rack is a bonus.

- the cookie sheets were on back order and took a long time to come in, I don't know if I got the same product that everyone else got, but each time I tried to bake cookies on them, the cookies would burn on the bottom in only 2 minutes at 350 degrees. (after 3 attempts, I gave up, this never happens with any other cookie sheets) Will never use them again, big disappointment.
- My old pans got a little rusty round the edges and the non-stick on these new ones still works.
- I got exactly what I expected. Great for cookies but do not use metal utinsils for removing food from these pans as it will ruin the surface of the baking sheet.
- I have not received this item yet, so I can't really review it
thanks
- These are good quality sheets. They are a bit narrow compared to what I'm used to. I've used them everyday for about 2 months now, and there are no scratches and they clean up super easy still.

- Bought these about a year ago -- they have held up amazingly well, especially for this price. And I'm hard on bakeware! As in using them for yeast-rising pizzas, cut into sections with a stainless steel pizza cutting wheel -- so far no scratches, no rust, no nonsense. Reviewing today 'cause I'm getting two more at a lovely price.

- I use it for oven-bake pork chop. Very easy to clean and takes less time to bake. Very happy with it.
- After using non-stick for several years I decided to try one of these out after reading some of the reviews. After my first one came in I bought two more.
I've now had them for almost two years and they are holding up very well. I use them for everything, from bread to cookies, chicken breast to hamburger patties. Along with my silicone matt, clean up is fast and easy. I have not found mine to warp in high temps as some have mentioned.
I also bought a sheet for my parents along with a matt as they bake a lot of Portuguese types of bread at home, they love it too! They can't get over how their bread never burns, the bottom is always a nice golden brown with a crisp crust.
Christmas baking is always successful with these sheets, never a mishap that's for sure. I highly recommend this product!
- It is great, I loved it! I wish the company would not glue the label on the baking side of the sheet.
- This is a very nice sheet pan: sturdy and well made. The label on it was a nightmare to remove but other than that it's fine.
- This is a great jelly roll pan. It is a much heavier weight than your typical pan/cookie sheet. I hate burnt or even overly browned cookies and I've had no problems with this pan. I agree with other reviewers who recommend using parchment paper. Highly recommended!

- I bought two of these last year...and promptly bought two more and passed along all of my other sheets to Goodwill Industries. The Vollrath will spoil you--doesn't warp; cookies don't stick; and they have just the right amount of goldeness. The best!
- I decided to purchase this cookie sheet based on a Cook's Illustrated review. When I received my cookie sheet, I was AMAZED to see how thick and heavy-duty it was! It is perfectly straight, and the size is wonderful also -- I used this one cookie sheet to bake some pastries where I used to have to use 2 of my older cookies sheets because of their smaller size. Highly recommended.
- I purchased this after reading a review in Cooks Illustrated. I had been burning cookies badly and after switching to the Vollrath cookie sheet with a sheet of parchment paper, no more burnt cookies. The sheet is sturdy and does not warp. The lack of sides on two edges makes it easy to slid the cookies off of the sheet to a cooling rack, sweet.
- I heard about this from Cooks Illustrated, and it is worth every penny. I have had it for a few months, and it still looks brand new. No warping, even heat and browning, and easy to keep clean. A great gift for any baker.
- My old jelly roll pan came to the end of its life, and I had purchased a supermarket Good Cook non-stick cookie sheet as a temporary cheap fix until I could justify getting the Vollrath recommended by Cook's Illustrated. Long story short, my cheap fix turned out to be SO cheap that it became much more temporary than I had intended: my Vollrath arrived yesterday, and all I can say is WOW. It is four times thicker than the cheap cookie sheet, two inches longer (which makes a big difference), and perfectly flat. The smooth, one-piece construction promises easy cleaning, and the simplicity of the design looks so basically professional that I'm proud to have one in my kitchen. This is a sturdy, solid piece of equipment. I plan to order one or two more in time for the holidays - baking gingerbread house pieces will be a snap!
One note - there is a quarter-inch hole at one end, presumably for hanging on a hook. You can just barely see it in the picture. I missed it and was surprised when my order arrived.

- This is a top of the line jelly roll pan. I've used it for years and found that it's still very much like it was when I bought it. It is never going to warp, I'm convinced, and it withstands high temperatures. If I'm roasting something that is likely to stick badly, I cover it with foil to minimize cleanup. It's heavy duty... not like supermarket merchandise that's only a couple of dollars cheaper and is so flimsy that it warps the minute you turn up the heat.
You won't do better than Chicago Metallic but you may pay more for another similar product and not be as satisfied.
- Heavy duty pan. No warping in oven. Only thing that would make it better is if it were non stick
- These jelly roll/sheet pans are extremely well built. They are very heavy and thick, do not warp, and should last a lifetime. They are the highest quality I have found, and I've owned many different brands.
Be aware though, that they are NOT in any way non-stick, and are hard to keep clean. Of course, none of the non-stick ones will last anywhere near as long, as the teflon finish wears off any cookware after a while.
- I was trying to decide whether to get this size or the bigger pan. Since the oven we have is not very big I got this small jelly roll pan. With this I can freeze cookie dough and marinade meat in it without taking up too much space in the fridge.
I was disappointed that it arrived all scratched on the side (because the product was only loosely put in an open plastic bag). But I didn't bother to get an exchange since it wouldn't affect its performance.
It is very sturdy and conducts heat really well. The rack of my toaster oven fits perfectly into this pan and I've just tried roasting chicken in it. The next thing I'll try is to bake some cake in it to see how well it works.
For the price, I would say it is a definite good buy. Don't bother with the baking pan from the supermarket, they don't last! (And they are not that much cheaper either!!)
- First of all, I must say that I've never seen a jelly roll pan so sturdy. So much inexpensive bakeware tends to be rather flimsy that it soon warps. I don't anticipate any such problems with the Chicago Metallic pan. It's heavy, very durable-feeling and I can't see the possibility of wearing it out unless you're very, very hard on your bakeware. The lack of nonstick coating has not been a problem--just use shortening or a cooking spray instead, and you don't have to worry about metal utensils scratching up the surface, etc. That, and the regular jelly roll pan is cheaper than the jelly roll pan with nonstick coating.
So far, I've been very happy with mine and think it is a great bargain considering the low price. Based on this good experience, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more products from Chicago Metallic.

5 comments about Calphalon Classic Bakeware Special Value 12-by-17-Inch Rectangular Nonstick Jelly Roll Pans, Set of 2.
- These pans are really the best! Besides being the perfect size for my sheet cake recipe, they double as nonstick cookie sheets. My cookies bake evenly, and are easily removed from these pans.
- I bought this for my sister for Christmas this year. Very good value
- I own a LOT of Calph cookware, so when it came time to purchase new cookie sheets I turned to the tried and true. I like having sides on my sheets, and these fit the bill (some sites/companies will tell you that you can't bake cookies properly with sided pans, but I've never had any problems). I had several criteria for this purchase: price, quality, weight (I wanted heavy gauge), and non-warping. These sheets matched my requirements on all counts EXCEPT for the warping...they still give the dreaded 'boing' when in the oven a couple of minutes. Granted, it doesn't seem as bad as cheapie sheets, but still....oh well....love the sheets anyway and would buy them again.
- These pans are great in most ways- very heavy, well made, big. My only complaint is that there is a raised Calphalon brand stamped into the middle of each pan. If you put a cookie or something on that spot, you'd end up with "Calphalon" stamped into your cookie!
- These pans are of poor quality. They warp when heated even at low temps and don't lay flat in your oven once the oven reaches set temp. They settle back to their original shape when cooled, but are not worth the purchase.

- I tried it out with chocolate chip cookies first and didn't really like the results. They spread out really bad, but I made a monster cookie recipe with it the next time, and they turned out perfect. The monster cookie recipe calls for parchment paper or a mat...so, that was why I used this with them=)
- If you ever use an oven, you need this remarkable piece of equipment. Nothing, absolutely nothing sticks to it & it washes clean in seconds. Do yourself a favor & get several in different sizes to fit your baking sheets.

- I have one and wanted another. I will sing the praises of Chicago Metallic again. These are heavy, durable baking pans that will last my lifetime and probably end up in one of my daughters kitchens someday!
- This is the right size for most of my recipes. It's very heavy duty, cooks well, and is easy to clean.
- I have looked every where for a 15 X 10 jelly roll pan. This size is almost impossible to find. This pan cleans up very easily and baking results are excellent. I like this product so well I am purchasing 3 more for my daughter and daughter-inlaws for Christmas.
- Really heavy duty!! I'm very impressed! Don't miss out on the matching grid.
