  1. This pan is fantastic as are all the Berndes SignoCast pans that I have purchased. The heat is evenly distributed so everything comes out perfect. My favorite brand of cookware!!!

  2. I love this pan. It is expensive but the best pan for me. It is quite large and the non-stick surface is so smooth, both inside and out, and no sign of wear after about a year of use so far. Very nicely made. A good investment.

  3. I have consistently been disappointed by non-stick cookware. I wanted to buy a non-stick pan for day-to-day use that would stand up for years to come. It's been only a few weeks but I have a good feeling about the berndes.

This Saute Pan is large enough to handle the biggest tasks, but adequate for smaller tasks as well (I regularly cook for only two). It distributes heat evenly and it appears to hold heat well. I was expecting the pan to be heavy, but it is very light and the extra handle allows for ease of movement when you have a great deal of food in the pan.

And did I mention non-stick. It's as good or better than any non-stick pan I've ever used. And you get a feeling that it is non stick through and through. Plus the exterior is made of the same non-stick material so clean up is a piece of cake.

It's more expensive than most non stick, teflon coated pans but it's solid. It may be cheaper than Calphalon, but I'm not impressed by Calphalon. It's not so non-stick and not as even a heater as everyone says. Maybe I've seen the wrong Calphalon, but you're probably wasting your money on it.

Give Berndes Signocast a shot. The bigger the better. I only have one, but that's all you really need. This pan shares it's cooking duties with my Sitram Magnum Pro line, a Sitram Cybernox pan and a set of Le Creuset. I don't know if I'd buy an entire set of Berndes (I'm pretty old-school in most of my cookware choices) but give one a try - you won't be disappointed.

    UPDATE:
After a year and a half it's still going strong. Even the sides (which scrape up against other pots, pans, & utensils) still appear perfect, in terms of the non-stick coating. I will never again buy a non-stick pan that isn't made by Berndes.

  1. I ordered the Berndes SignoCast Classic 13x8x21/2 Roast Pan because I have a Berndes saucepan that is truly non-stick. I love them both!

I love the roast pan because I can use it for all my casserole and roasting needs, and NOTHING sticks, EVER! It's very versatile and since the heat distributes evenly, I can also use it on the stovetop to saute or to cook pancakes and French Toast...so it's like 3 pieces of cookware in one.

I only regret that the terra cotta lid was unavailable, as this would make the roasting pan even more of a gem.

There's nothing better than Berndes for truly non-stick cookware.

  2. This roasting pan is especially wonderful for roasting all kinds of vegetables. While its size makes it a bit awkward to wash in my smallish kitchen sink, at 3 lbs its light weight makes it doable. I especially like the rivetless interior. In my opinion, this is on par with Le Creuset, which for a comparable item is roughly triple the weight. They are both well made, but filled with food, the larger Le Creuset items can be a challenge to handle.

If you have arthritis that affects your hands, you'll especially appreciate the lighter weight.

OVERALL, these are the good points:
    + only three pounds empty
+ excellent quality cast aluminum is made in Germany and has a track record of almost 30 years
+ nonstick surface performs very well and reduces amount of fat/oil needed
+ cleans easily with a nylon net dishcloth, Simple Green or dish detergent after a brief soak
+ handles are cast as an integral part of the unit
+ no rivets or other food-catchers inside!
+ flat bottom can be used on a multitude of cooking surfaces, including gas/electric/induction/halogen burners.

POSSIBLE DOWNSIDE: Probably better not to buy this if you plan to put it in the dishwasher and expect it to have a long life. Also, don't use sharp knives. If you use it for something like lasagna, use a nylon utensil to cut and serve.

Finally, it's handsome enough to bring to the table--but do protect the surface of the table with a trivet or folded towel.

  1. Even heat distribution allows for everything from sauteeing to reheating
of foods and the position of the two handles does not interfere with use on the stove ... easy clean-up and light weight are also a plus.

  1. I have this pot and it is like butta. It cooks everything so nice and evenly. Cleans off without any effort-- if food is dried on, fill with hot water and way before it's cool, the food is off- no scrubbing, barely any need for a sponge. I highly recommend this product for everything from frying eggs/bacon to curries and soups, it does it all, with style. Mine is blue, so there must be other colors out there. . .

  2. I have been an enthusiastic cook for 45 years and have a passion for kitchen gadgets, cookware, dishes, etc. I have owned several sets of pots over the years, each set nicer than the last. This pot was purchased because of the weight, the thick bottom and the material used in production to make it non-stick. It was also reduced on a special sale at a small kitchen shop in Shreveport, LA. It surprised me with waterless cooking! Very easy cleaning! Very even cooking! Set on low heat it is better than the slow cooker that I was contemplating purchasing! Even fresh okra did not stick! It is my first Berndes piece but won't be my last. I have used it to cook large quantities and even for very small quantities because I don't want to use any other pot! The fact that it is wide and the sides are low lends opportunities for easy frying which cannot easily be accomplished in any other 7 quart pot! At first I didn't like the idea of glass cover, but being able to see into the pot as food cooks is a big bonus. I recently purchased the Berndes 4.25 qt. sauteuse pot and expect the same thrill when using it. You won't be disappointed!

  1. I wanted a product that I could brown meat without sticking, and thats exactly what I got, and more. I was able to cook pancakes, eggs and sausage in the same pan without sticking, or the need to clean after each item...I've never been able to do that before. Being German made was a plus, because I know the Germans make superior products. I was so impressed that I bought the larger 13" sauteuse. If you're tired of crappy cookware, buy this product, you wont regret it. Berndes is a buy.

  1. I have used this pot almost every time I cook since I received it as a gift. The nonstick coating makes it perfect for sauteeing mirepoix to start soups or stews, and the shape of the pot makes it perfect for finishing them! Well made pan, glass lid makes it easy to see what I'm doing. After 4 years of fairly heavy use, the nonstick has started to scratch a bit, but just a little.
