- Because this is a cast item the base is thick, the top is thick but the walls are thin making this pot much lighter than you would expect. NO RIVETS where the handles are so it is smooth and easy to clean on the inside.
I am a Calphalon One pan lover but hate the rivets on the inside with food sticking to them and scrubbing around them. I am actually looking into a Berndes pan as it just seems a better interior design.
Final note, I know this is just superficial but the design of the nob on the top of the glass lid is mirror like through the lid and it has a really nice look to it. One more cherry on top of an already great design.

- I have this for few weeks now. I really gto a nice deal on it. We made few dishes in it last few weeks. First it was home made meatballs. The pot heats evently, browns very nicely and has plenty of space to last a while. Key to this pot is that it's about 4mm thick. That mean's it has 1/4th the weight of cast iron, but same ability to keep the heat and brown evenly. This pot is excellent not only for the soups, but it an really pull off meatballs, stews, chillis, or anything else one can imagine
i rarely give out 5 stars, but this one worth it!
- This is a wonderful product - if you have any doubts - forget them - you lwill love it

- I Love it! This is the second product I have by Berndes. I will never buy any other brand of skillets. The food gets cooked evenly because of the flat bottom. Minimal, if any, oil or butter is necessary- I often use spray - food never sticks to the pan and cleaning the skillet is SO easy. My husband feels the same way about the Berndes SignoCast products.
- I bought this to replace the same skillet I had purchased about 5 years ago--it was finally beginning to lose some of its non-stick covering. It is an excellent skillet, and I am very pleased that there is a matching glad lid available--something that I have found otherwise impossible to find for 8" non-stick skillets.
- I know kitchens -- I worked as a short-order cook for years.
This is a quality piece of cookware. Decent weight, well-machined. Berndes' non-stick coating is, for me, the standard against which I compare all others (and it's the only non-stick cookware I've ever been happy with). We've had the first pan for a year or three, and my wife still hasn't managed to destroy it. Yet.
For me, a HUGE plus (and what makes the purchase a no-brainer) is that there are no rivets inside the pan. (IMHO, rivets have no business on the inside of any pan -- makes cooking & clean-up more work.)
It's quite simply a flawless omelet pan. I've not used anything better at any price.
- This is a well-balanced, lightweight skillet. It heats quickly and uniformly and is really non-stick. I find it is very good for making omelets. My only caveat with this skillet is that the handle is quite long, making it difficult to store in a small space.
- Berndes SignoCast Classic 8-Inch SkilletThe best ever. not only the skillet but the whole line of the Berndes products

- I purchased a couple Berndes pans around 10 years ago at Marshalls and they're still going strong. I always grab for these over any of my others (Le Creuset/Cuisinart. I agree with other reviewers in that I've NEVER had anything stick ... and I make slow cooked steel cut oats every week. They also look as good as they did when I purchased them (I bought the kind with the two curved side handles as appossed to the wood handles). There really are no down sides to them other than the expense ... but they're definately worth it, and a good investment.
- Simply buy one piece of Berndes such as a small skillet, wash & dry it, then heat it to medium heat without oil and drop in a fresh egg. NO STICK. Nothing, no matter the cost, will pass this test as beautifully as Berndes. Steel cut oats are always a cleaning/scrubbing challenge in Creuset or AllClad but rinse out of these pans with almost no effort.
This cookware is without peer and is a joy to use.
- I purchase both the 7 and 10 piece set of Tradition and use Berndes non-stick all the time and it is the best & most durable nonstick I have ever used. I have used non-stick by Calphalon, all Clad, Circulon, ScanPan, + others but none is as good as Berndes. It is NO STICK like no other brand around.

- We purchased 2 full sets for each of our homes. They guarantee that the paint will not chip off. Since you cannot put them in a dishwasher, we hand washed them using a soft sponge. One side being cloth and the other side being a plastic material. Over a period of about 2 years, the paint started chipping off the top rims. We sent 3 of them back without lids along with a check to cover shipping. They sent us 3 new pots with lids in 4 weeks. A good thing about the pots is that once they are heated up, you can cut the burner down. The pots have not scratched our glass top ranges. Glass lids are excellent. Food does not stick inside.
- I have been using these products for several years now. The quality and cooking quality are first class in all aspects. They are made like pans costing 3x as much. The outsides of all items are non stick coated for easy clean up. They are made in Germany with a very high level of craftsmanship.
- We actually purchased this set about 3 years ago. I came across it here on Amazon and though I would take a second a write a review. This cookware is amazing! Cooks evenly, cleans up instantly, and after almost 3 years of use, it is still like brand new. Very heavy duty, strong non-stick coating, and will not warp like the cheap stuff.
If you are considering a new cookware set, do not hesitate to purchase anything by Berndes, it is worth the money.
- I got this set for x-mas and it is fantastic. The 11" skillet has steep sides so it holds an entire meal, while the smaller skillet is perfect for eggs or small jobs. The stock pot works wonderfully for gumbo. I have not had anything burn with this set and clean up is as simple as warm water and a sponge. The glass lids all fit perfectly. I did have one lid handle that was attached backwards, but 5 seconds with a screwdriver fixed that. Must have been hitting the beer a bit heavy that morning in the factory :)
The stuff is MASSIVE, so make sure you have large cabinets to store them and strong arms to lift them. I have dinged up the skillet a bit but the non-stick coating is thick enough so small scratches do not get through, so it still performs well. Compared to the thin, warped, scratched stainless and non-stick junk I had before, these pots and pans are just fantastic. I only gave them 4 stars because I don't have a lot of experience with high quality cookware and there could be something better out there, who knows?

- Out of the box this cookware was great. The fit and finish is excellent. Cooking is wonderful with no hot spots like you'd expect with less expensive cookware. My only disappointment is that the non-stick finish does scratch. We use all the appropriate non-metal utincils but after a few years of use the finish isn't what it used to be. For the price one would expect better durability.

- I own two BERNDES skillets and am saving for a third larger one. The 8-inch skillet makes the BEST omelettes.
If you are shopping for a non-stick skillet buy Berndes. I'm not kidding. I've tried several (recommended by Cooks Illustrated) and those skillets died a quick death. Berndes non-stick seem indestructable, the weight is balanced and they clean so easily that I'm shocked every time.
I use All-Clad saucepans, and Berndes skillets. I'm a happy cook.
- The Berndes Signocast products are excellent. They are strong and sturdy, but not as heavy as Le Creuset, they are very very easy to clean--a swipe or two in the dishwater and they are clean (use steel wool pads occasionally on their bottom aluminum cooking surface), their bottoms are flat unlike some stuff that warps leaving you wondering what is touching the electric element, and stuff in them cooks amazingly well. I'm gradually replacing everything else I've bought with these. These are a bit expensive, but they hold up, and good tools are important to the home chef and are well worth the money just as I feel good hand tools are well worth the money to someone wanting to do household repairs, etc. I have owned some pots and some skillets that needed lots of effort to scrub and clean--these Berndes items are truly soak-for-10-seconds and wipe clean, no matter how mean you've been to them. Because of their heft, it does take a bit longer for these to heat through, but maybe on the order of 30 seconds more--not a big deal, but still something to remember. No matter if you're doing soup, gumbo, bacon, pancakes, veggies, steaks, ham slices, potato pancakes, crab cakes, Chinese, goulash, etc., the cleanup afterwards is amazingly easy. Did you hear that, not only do they cook well but they clean well.
I have no financial interest in Berndes or in any of their distributors in any way. But I really like their stuff.
- The best skillet/saute pan/ whatever you wanna call it - it does it all, and heats food throughout absolutley perfectly. Well worth the price. I have had it for 10 years, and it gets better with time. Would buy it all over again if I had to.

- This pan is fantastic as are all the Berndes SignoCast pans that I have purchased. The heat is evenly distributed so everything comes out perfect. My favorite brand of cookware!!!
- I love this pan. It is expensive but the best pan for me. It is quite large and the non-stick surface is so smooth, both inside and out, and no sign of wear after about a year of use so far. Very nicely made. A good investment.
- I have consistently been disappointed by non-stick cookware. I wanted to buy a non-stick pan for day-to-day use that would stand up for years to come. It's been only a few weeks but I have a good feeling about the berndes.
This Saute Pan is large enough to handle the biggest tasks, but adequate for smaller tasks as well (I regularly cook for only two). It distributes heat evenly and it appears to hold heat well. I was expecting the pan to be heavy, but it is very light and the extra handle allows for ease of movement when you have a great deal of food in the pan.
And did I mention non-stick. It's as good or better than any non-stick pan I've ever used. And you get a feeling that it is non stick through and through. Plus the exterior is made of the same non-stick material so clean up is a piece of cake.
It's more expensive than most non stick, teflon coated pans but it's solid. It may be cheaper than Calphalon, but I'm not impressed by Calphalon. It's not so non-stick and not as even a heater as everyone says. Maybe I've seen the wrong Calphalon, but you're probably wasting your money on it.
Give Berndes Signocast a shot. The bigger the better. I only have one, but that's all you really need. This pan shares it's cooking duties with my Sitram Magnum Pro line, a Sitram Cybernox pan and a set of Le Creuset. I don't know if I'd buy an entire set of Berndes (I'm pretty old-school in most of my cookware choices) but give one a try - you won't be disappointed.
UPDATE:
After a year and a half it's still going strong. Even the sides (which scrape up against other pots, pans, & utensils) still appear perfect, in terms of the non-stick coating. I will never again buy a non-stick pan that isn't made by Berndes.
