  1. I don't like non-stick. It's not as versatile as good 3-ply stainless steel and it doesn't last anywhere near as long. That said, I do like egg dishes and in the summer I like dishes w/ a lighter mouth-feel (not as much oil). So I set out for the best non-stick pan.

I got a 12-inch pan because I've had 10 inch and 8 inch pans in the past and they get crowded very easily. Secondly, I wanted a pan w/ a riveted handle and a decent high temp oven performance. Also, I believe the true mark of a nonstick pan is the 'flip' performance-- so, NO HELPER HANDLE IS THE WAY TO GO! That's just my opinion. I eventually narrowed by search to 3 brands: Caphalon, All Clad, and Analon. Caphalon because they had some interesting non-stick options, All Clad because it's just the best, and Analon because I currently use their stainless set and for the last 2 years I've been very happy.

So All Clad was knocked out of contention quickly for the simple reason that ALL NON-STICK PANS DEGRADE over time. And from what I've read, their best non-stick pan will loose it's luster in about 2 years. That's not to say that I think the pan would be completely crap after 2 years-- just that i think the degradation curve would start to accelerate into the replacement zone. So why pay $130-190 for a pan over two years when you could use 2 average non-stick pans at the same price over two years and have more 'quality' non-stick time to boot?

With All Clad out of the way I turned my attention to Caphalon. I still didn't want a 'cheap' pan though... just not ridiculously over-priced one (although I would love to replace my analon ss set w/ an all-clad one in about 5 more years-- saving those pennies...). Caphalon has 'professional', 'commercial', 'contemporary', and 'one' series pans. Professional pan reviews peg it as a loser. 'One' series pans are just a bad idea all around... why would anyone want a pan that's permanently sorta-non-stick-but-not-really? 'Contemporary' pissed me off (yes I was actually offended) with it's strange 'bulge flare' near the rim-- you really have to see it to understand what I'm talking about. So I considered the commercial series.

Anolon was my last consideration. I looked at their titanium series in the past, but ultimately went with the SS set (glad I did). I was very concerned about the silicon handles. Mainly because it's a limiter to broiling temps, but I gotta say I've been pleasantly surprised. They do add a very good handling feel to the cookware and the silicon hasn't discoloured or peeled or scraped off anywhere. I totally expected the silicon to wear out and it hasn't. Also, their metal ply is just as even and weighted as the all clad stuff. Same thickness, very similar shape, and from the durability I've experienced I'd be surprised if all-clad is really all that much better... but from the looks of it I would have to comment on that about 7 years into ownership. So I was definitely going to consider Anolon.

Went to the store, felt the surface of the commercial caphalon and it was ROUGH. I know it's commercial and they say you can use metal utensils, but something is just counter-intuitive about a 'rough' non-stick surface. It was priced at $50. Then I checked the Anolon Advanced pan. Nice and smooth. Also it had the same handle as my Anolon SS set and the capholon had one of those slightly loose, thick silicon handle... uhhh... condoms. Also the packaging on the commercial pan is sparse-- consisting of a strip of cardboard w/ logo and writing and the sides of the pan exposed to the elements. When they ship them they're stacked on top of each other and the Anodized aluminum bottom from one pan constantly rubs the top rim of the pan below. I couldn't find a single pan out of the 8 on the racks, that didn't have scuffing around the rim from distributor shipping. Needless to say the Caphalon Commercial pan was OUT and the individually completely boxed, wrapped in plastic, suspended in a cardboard brace Anolon Advance pan won the day.

I was very curios about this Dupont Autograph 2 thing. Aparently the Non-stick is on the inside of the pan and seamlessly wraps over the edge and all the way down the outside until the very bottom of the pan where the Anodized Aluminum bottom makes contact w/ the burner. I don't know if it actually does anything functional, but it's VERY easy to clean. I guess maybe it keeps food from 'catching' around the rim when stirring vigorously or 'flipping' veggies in a sauté. So far the non-stick surface is PERFECT. About 20 seconds of soap, sponge, and hot water is all that is need to clean inside and out (thank you to the wrap-around nonstick surface). It has a very good weight so the heat distribution is great even around the sides. I've become accustomed to 'flipping' with my stainless pans so when I first tried it with this pan I accidentally sky-rocketed the veggies into the ventilation hood. As with temperature and handling with all new pans, it's good to keep in mind 'baby-steps'.

  2. We purchased the Analon 10" and 12" a couple of months ago. Our choice of Analon was based on reviews posted here. Must say, the most positive reviews were not exaggerations. They are both great.

  3. This is a very nice non stick fry pan. It is very heavy so takes a little longer to heat up, but provides nice even heat without hot spots. I would definitely buy this brand again.

  4. My wife and I received the pans in this set for our wedding over 3 years ago. They have been excellent despite very heavy use from us. The non-stick still doesn't stick and there is almost no discoloration. They are very easy to clean because the entire pan is non-stick, not just the inside. The silicon on the handle does an excellent job of protecting your hand from being burnt even at high temperatures.

The only problem we've had is that on a few of the pans the silicon part of the handle came loose. I submitted a request to their customer service department on the web and had brand new pans within a week at no cost to me.

  5. I bought this for my wife as a late Christmas present and have waited nearly 8 months before writing this review. After months of regular use, it looks as good as new. The skillet has held up very well - much better than the "T-Foul" skillet that we disposed of upon buying this item.

3 comments about Anolon Nonstick Hard-Anodized 5-Quart Covered Stockpot with Hard-Anodized Lid.

  1. Anolon just gives the consumer great value...as does Amazon! We now have a larger than complete set of various Analong cookware, and it is easily suyperior to many other lesser and even more expensive products. The cleanup is exceptionally easy, the finish is handsome and durable, and the lids fit quite well. I was afraid that this might prove to small a capacity for most of the pasta that we prepare, having replaced a larger aluminum/copper 8 quart stock pot. Well, it does just fine, and is easier to handle, although be prepared to use pot holders on the handles, as they get rather warmish when boiling pasta or potatoes.

Also, a very minor note of consideration, one should be careful about moving or rotating the pot (or Anolong skillets) on the burner surfaces, if your stove has the metal or ceramic burner assemblies that might scratch or damage the outer finish on the bottom of the pot. The bottom is relatively "uncoated" of the protective finish.

We have been astonished by the improvement in the non-stick coating technology used with this product, and make no mistake, it is far better than many competing products that claim to use new anodized non-stick coatings -- all are not equal! We also learned that the claim that this coating will withstand metal implements is true -- my daughter made mashed potatoes, and used a metal potato masher and mashed to spuds in the stock pot!!!! I got a bit miffed, reminder her to use the plastic products, and even bought a new more comfortable wide handled plastic potato masher designed for non-stick coatings--just in case. However, the upshot of this is that the pot was totally unscathed! I would not use metal implements routinely, but clearly, damaging this surface is not easy to do.

Finally, unlike many other professional cooking sets, the Anolon is not excessively heavy. It is not as light as non-pro products, but the design really strikes a perfect balance between industrial heavy-weights and too-light (flimsy) non-commercial or home style cookware -- like those that come in the bargain starter sets.

Analon is not "cheap" is built to last years, and is a bargain for the quality, design and joy of use. The skillets and grilling pans elicit oohs and ahs from us every time we prepare eggs, omelets, chicken or other sticky entres...because the clean-up is so effortless, the cooking temperature is so consistent (no hotspots or deadspots!) and the results are truly gourmet. This stock pot is now a favorite item and stays on the stove most of the time. We will never go back to inferior "half-baked" cookware!

  2. If you need a smaller stock/soup pot, you just can not go wrong with this one. I have plenty of large stockpots and needed a smaller one. This is perfect, quality is great, it looks like it will last for ever (and I am not one to be careful with my cookware). I highly recommend it.

  3. I love analon but as I stated in my 8" pan review this too is a lot small than I thought it would be.

  1. An excellent set, appropriate for a starter or an experienced kitchen chef. Heavy duty pots and pans, excellent nonstick surface; quality all the way.

  2. These pans are an excellent value. They are well made and easy to clean. They heat evenly and the clear lids make covered cooking very easy.

  3. My wife loves her new pots for cooking. I do the clean up and it is much better than our previous T-Fal set.

  4. We have bought several other pieces in the last six months, and have never been so impressed with cookware. However, we were disappointed when we received the 8-piece set since it wasn't quite what was described. Instead of a 1-qt saucepan it was 1.5-qt, and instead of 3-qt saute, it was a 10-in skillet. I'm not sure where to go from here because I also bought a 10-in skillet separately.....

  5. I love Advanced Analon cookware. I have been cooking with it for over 3 years and purchased this set to replace another brand of non-stick cookware. The first piece of Advanced Analon I bought was the 3 quart pot with the pouring lip. I use this all the time for draining off liquids from veggies and pasta. Try it, I think you will be happy with the quality, the glass lids, and weight of this brand of cookware.

5 comments about Anolon Advanced 3-1/2-Inch Parer Knife.

  1. Excellent knife. I own 3 other Anolon knives, and for quality and price, they are unmatched.

    Excellent service from Amazon too.

  2. I love this knife. I use it for just about everything. I own all Anolon knives and wouldn't buy any other brand.

  3. For the past 15 years I have been using a set of Wusthof knives that my husband purchased, with the exception of the paring knife, which he bent prying something open (sigh) and then tried, fairly unsuccessfully, to bend it back into position. Consequently, I have been using a five-inch paring knife but have never felt comfortable with the length. I treated myself to this knife, which for me is a fairly nosebleed price of $20 (including super saver shipping). I used it today as soon as I unwrapped it and have completely forgiven the cost. This knife weighs about double the Wusthof counterpart, has great balance, and is sure in my hand. I should have purchased this knife a long time ago and appreciate the point guard and sheath so that I can leave it out full time on the counter. November 16, 2007 update: This knife really paid for itself when I used it to prepare chestnuts for my turkey stuffing. Those shells are tough and have to be cross slashed on both sides prior to roasting. I have dreaded this part because my Wusthof blade was fairly lightweight, and I was constantly afraid of accidentally cutting myself. The Anolon knife does the job in about one-third of the time and cuts right through the outer chestnut shell. Now I am really impressed.

  4. I purchased this knife so I could have something to easily transport from my kitchen to other family member's kitchens, since it comes with a knife sheath. For the cost of the knife, it is a great value. It has a full tang and is balanced well. It's a very nice, moderately-priced knife, as are the others in the same collection.

  5. None of my paring knives were very satisfying to me. My best was an Oxo, and those are sharp, but flimsy. I wanted a firm, solid little knife I could bear down on. I bought this on sale, and now find myself making up excuses to use it. It cuts effortlessly, and holds a sharpening. Even better, it balances ergonomically in the hand. Though the handle is covered in a non-stick plastic, the knife feels full tang under it. In fact, you can feel its solidity whenever you use it or pick it up quickly, as it resounds and vibrates from the tip, like a musical instrument. It's sleek design is appealing and modern. This is a versatile and elegant kitchen tool, and it also cleans up quickly.

  1. I have a set of anolon Titanium pans and love them because they cook well and are easy to clean.

  2. A very good addition to the home supply of pans and skillets. There is a nice heft to the pan, it heats evenly (though, like most relatively heavy pans, it takes a while to get up to full temperature), and the cooking surface is non-stick, but without the ultra-slippery "plastic" feel that some non-stick pans have. Add to that the fact that it can go in the dishwasher, and it makes for a very good pan.

  3. I like the fact that I can put this in dishwasher.
I've had this for about 6 months. It started to have grease built up on the side (inside and outside) that I can't wash off easily. Don't want to use metal scrub to clean it becasue i don't want to ruin the non stick layer.

  4. pros:
    1) Heavy,well built.
    2) Excellent non stick coating.
    3) Looks like it will last for years.
    4) Dishwasher safe (with restrictions).
    cons:
    1) The handle becomes too hot. After few minusts of frying an egg you can touch only the last 5 cm.
    2) Not very stable. tend to lean to the direction of the handle (on my gas stove).

  5. This is a great pan to cook with as it holds heat well and food does not stick and is my everyday pan for breakfast. The titanium exterior looks good but is easily nicked. The interior scratches much easier than my other Anolon non-stick pans which I have used for years. The scratches have not affected pan performance.

  1. My roommate had one that was brand new in which I left water at a bowl in the pot for maybe 10 minutes and the water alone cooked away the protective layer inside the pot and stained it white. Since the pot was not mine I had to replace it at $60. I would have never paid that much if it were for myself.

  2. Currently this product does very well. For the price you can't beat it. Non-stick works exceptionally well.

  4. Whether you hate or love cooking, this is a great piece in a wonderful set of cookingware. I've yet to find a better coated set of pans. Yes, they are expensive, but when you figure how many times you buy "value" pots and pans at Wal Mart and Target over time, you begin to see that real value can truly be found in quality and not just price. So about the saucepan: it's the perfect size, durable, not too heavy, coated and has a secure rubberized handle. Its a great investment to consider.

  1. The glass lid shattered the first time we used the pan. I returned the lid to Anolon and was sent a replacement. Have not tested the new lid.

  2. This looks like a great pan but it is just too heavy. I returned it. I recommend the Circulon Elite match. I love mine.

  1. Hot oatmeal can stick to the sides of some pans like concrete. The Anolon 1 1/2 quart saucepan is perfect for two people and is extremely easy to clean. The glass lid allows me to view the erupting oatmeal and turn down the heat before the stove is covered with oatmeal lava.

  2. Just the right size for a can of soup or hardboiling eggs for whatever. if you have Anolon Advanced you know how good they are.
    'Nuff said

  3. Anolon makes awesome kitchenware, and this saucepan is no exception. I highly recommend Anolon products!

  4. I recently bought a 10 Pc Anolon Advanced cookware set but it didn't come with a small pan. I bought the 1 1/2 Qt pan and I love it it completed my set. It has a great handle and I especially like the see through glass lid.

  2. I have three sizes of these skillets. I love all of them. You cook without oil. The clean up is great. Every thing is cooked on med to low heat. They are wounderful. I would tell anyone to buy them.

  3. We know have 2 10 inch Analon Titanium skillets. We like them all very much. We had some earlier analon skillets and they are very good, but the titanium series is better. An earlier Anolon skillet still is non-stick but is starting to lose something. The titanium does not seem to be losing it. Great skillets.

  4. Heats super evenly, non-stick works fantastic, dishwasher safe as long as you use the right detergent. It doesn't get any better than that!

  5. I first discovered Analon Titanium (restaurant tested) fry pans in Macy's. They only had an 8 inch model, which I purchased as it is perfect for making a personal omelet. They are heavy gauge aluminum clad in titanium on the bottom and have completely steel handles unlike the lower grade of Analon which look very similar but have silicone rubber handle grips. As such, the metal handles are much better for popping a meal into the oven after initially frying/browning it on the stove. The nonstick coating is very high grade as well.

5 comments about Anolon Titanium Non Stick Dishwasher Safe 12-Inch Open Stir Fry Pan with Helper Handle.

  1. I've had this cookware for about 4 years. It is not truly dishwasher safe. Over time the exterior has become quite dull and ugly. It seems to have faded in an inconsistent way. Even though this cookware has a "lifetime" warrantee, Anolon will not replace the cookware if it becomes damaged from being cleaned in the dishwasher.

  2. I bought this pan because I needed a new wok. I'm normally not a big fan of non-stick pans because I cook a lot of Asian foods that normally require high temperatures. But after reading the reviews, I bought this pan to try it out. It has performed very well. I do have to spend a bit more time preheating the pan, but because of its heavy mass, once this pan is hot, it remains hot. Cooking Asian foods in it is a breeze. Though it doesn't provide the same flavor as a carbon-steel wok would, most of us, including myself, don't have the multi-burner gas stove to get a wok hot enough to get that Chinese restaurant flavor. This pan has become my everything pan, from breakfast to dinner, Chinese to Italian. Its ease of use and cleaning caused me to buy one for my sister.

  3. One of the best I have ever used.
Very easy to clean and not too heavy, compare to some of the other ones I had in the past. It is not light though, my wife does have trouble handle it using just one hand.
    NO lid.
for the past month, I am truly happy with it. my sisiter has a similar one for about 2-3 years and it is still going strong.

  4. Non stick, heat even. I love this product. The only concern is that it is a little bit too heavy for me.

  5. I was actually very upset that I had purchased this pan instead of the 12" Fry Pan. I had trouble getting Amazon to exchange it for what I really wanted. Amazon wouldn't so I ended up purchasing the 12" Fry Pan separately. I love both pans. They are great. I never thought that I would be so pleased with cookware - I mean I rarely get excited about any "thing" - but I love Anolon. It is a little heavy, but it cooks things quickly, evenly, and with NO sticking. Then, the clean up is a swipe of a sponge. Wow.

The Stir-Fry pan was actually great, by the by, it collects the water on the bottom-center for quick evaporation.
