  1. I have been into cooking Indian, Thai, and Vietamese food. Just tried this pressure cooker on some Indian dishes, and the flavors were amazing (one lamb dish and one chicken dish). The potatoes in the dishes didn't end up mushy like stovetop either, but the flavors just infused without any marinating, and nothing lost its texture. Wonderful product, so easy to use. I also bought his full kitchen cookware set, when out shopping for All-Clad. I found the handles on these so much more comfortable to hold than All-Clad. We have very close friends who are professional cooks in France who swear by a pressure cooker as a must-have for your kitchen.


  2. For those of us that grew up with pressure cookers and use it on a regular basis this is like the treat of treats! ENJOY!.........yes a little over priced it is.....

  1. Few items in our kitchen are as often used or as appreciated as this couldn't-do-without sauteuse pan. Its classic style, of course, is timeless and blends well with other accessories.

    We were aware of All-Clad's enviable reputation for high quality cookware but were nonetheless surprised by the flexibility of use and wearability of this item.

    At one time while cooking chicken parts the skins stuck to the bottom of the pan (My fault - I turned the heat too high). What would have been a chore to clean in any other utensil was a breeze in this pan.

    There is a tradition in our family of serving a wine/beef stew at most family reunions. The recipe has been passed from one generation to the next with the caution to always prepare the dish in a cast iron pan. Imagine everyone's delight and surprise when we prepared this dish in our sauteuse and they declared that it had never tasted better.

    The size of this sauteuse offers room to prepare for a few or a crowd. We are extremely pleased with this purchase.



  2. What can I say? It's an All-Clad product. Everything we've cooked in it from stuffed pork loin to simple chicken breasts has turned out perfectly. This pan heats evenly and fits nicely in the oven. It might be nice if it had a non-stick surface; however, I've never had any problem cleaning it. This sautuese costs more than similar products, but it will last a lifetime.

  1. I have been searching for a "birds beak" paring knife for years and years. It is perfect for hand help slicing and cutting. This knife is excellent because of its thin blade, you can cut matchstick carrots without the carrot breaking. The other two knives that come in this set are great also.   1. LOVE THIS PAN. I received a much larger ALL-CLAD pan from my sister as a birthday gift, and was so impressed by it's performance, that I purchased this smaller pan. Two thumbs up! I love to cook, and have more cookware than I need, a lot of it non stick, but this was a must have for me. It's a great size, shape, and cleans up easily. The dome lid also makes it great for serving and keeping food hot. Nice presentation.
    Very sturdy, well made but not too heavy, and good looking. I hate putting it away! Highly recommend.


  2. This is my favorite pan that I own. I use it multiple times a week for everything from spaghetti sauce to gravy to pork chops and roasts. It's even good for things that need to be seared and then cooked in the oven since it can go from cooktop to oven. Cleanup is easy, and this pan has lasted through some very harsh handling by people that aren't kitchen savvy. I've had it for 6 years now and it's still going strong.


  3. When I ordered this item, I thought I ordered the stainless steel pan, but when it came it was the LTD. Not a problem. I have had it two days and it is already my favorite pan. I made chicken Marsala for guests the first night and scrambled eggs for breakfast. One of the best things is that it is not only a cooking pan but a serving dish as well. Another point is that it takes less heat for cooking. Instead of turning on the burner at full power, I turn it to medium and I don't burn anything. No hot spots but a nice even heat over the entire pan. I will be proud to take this to our church's monthly potluck. It cleans up like a dream and is beautiful as well as making me look like a good cook. What more can I ask?

  1. Like any All-Clad, I knew it would work out just fine. I needed an in-between size for sauces, soups, etc. The little pots are always too small and the big ones weigh a ton. Heats smoothly and seems to hold the sauce together. (I'm being metaphorical but that's the best way to describe it.)


  2. This is the second least-used item in my All Clad cookware. I find myself reaching for a saucier when I could use this pot. My advice is not to get a saucier in a similar size.

    When I have used this pot, it lives up to the All Clad reputation -- heavy for its size and heats well. Angled sides really speed evaporation.

    Williams Sonoma has a version of this pan that had markings on the inside that so you could see when you've reduced the contents by half or whatever. It's a novel, but expensive idea. I hink that pot retails for $150.

    Dishwasher safe is always a plus. Stay-handle is nice as well.


  3. I have been replacing my cookware and believe All-Clad to be superior to anything else out there. The Windsor pan is better than a regular saucepan because of the sloping sides. It is so much easier for stirring puddings or making gravy. I don't have any "saucepans" but will use this one and the 2 1/2 qt. size. It is easy to be a good cook when one has good tools to work with.


  4. We just decided to upgrade our kitchen with the first step being replacement of old and no-longer-anodized aluminum cookware. Our choice: the All-Clad Stainless line without the non-stick coating(s). They are sturdy, beautiful to cook with and to look at (if you're into that kind of thing), and in the end, while we wash by hand most of the time, once in a while we have to throw the pots in the dishwasher when we have other (better) things to do. This way we won't worry about ruining a nice non-stick finish on our hard-working pots!

    The 1.5 quart Windsor Pan was the champion of our meal last night - it made me look like a pro when making the gravy for a Sunday roast beef dinner, and I'm sure it will more than do the job on other sauces, too. As other reviewers say, whisking and pouring are much easier than with a standard straight walled sauce pan, and the slanted sides also help to concentrate the flavors as sauces are reduced.



  5. Bought this pot, for I thought it would be ideal for a single. It is. My first pot was defective, in that it was slightly oval, not allowing the lid to fit tight enough. After about four weeks of email with All-clad and receiving a replacement lid , I finally shipped it back (ten bucks out of my pocket), and received a replacement. Perfect.

    This pot is great for cooking varying quantities due to the slope, and is great for pouring due to the curved lip.

    I've gradually been changing my cooking gear over to All-clad because of the quality. It's definitely like cooking with the cadilac of cookware: Overall 5 star for the whole set I possess.

  1. The sloping sides compared to a regular sauce pan make this pan the one you should use as a foundation for building your cookware arsenal. I do not believe in buying full sets of matching cookware. Half of it you will probably never use. I worked in the food and catering business for 20 years and I know that you should choose each pan or pot carefully. Read Alton Brown's book "Gear For Your Kitchen", and remember Julia Child's show (available on DVD). You will see why good chefs use a variety of pans. This chef's pan is just great, I could not live without it just like my 10 inch cast iron skillet. Happy cooking.


  2. This is a great pan. It cooks wonderfully, it is large enough and deep enough to cook anything. Plus, it cleans well. I use it all the time and it is definitely a favorite.

  1. This pot has been a welcome addition to my kitchen for serveral reasons.

    It's a great size for making soups. The tall sides and relatively narrow width assure minimal evaporation; the heavy All-Clad bottom means that there are no hot spots. Some of the recipes I use begin with "blooming" spices in a bit of oil and softening onions and/or garlic, too. There's no worry about scorching.

    For our empty nest, it's just the right size for preparing pasta, too. Smaller pots don't hold enough water to cook the pasta without it sticking or becoming gummy; larger pots -- well, who wants to boil eight to twelves quarts of water just to cook less than a half pound of spaghetti? This pot is the perfect "between" size.

    I'm not sure why All-Clad calls it a casserole pan. Casseroles are one thing I don't imagine cooking in this pot. But I'm glad I ignored the name and decided to give it a try for the tasks I've described. It's perfect.

    One other thing. Finally I've begun acquiring heavy, GOOD pots and pans. What a difference these make. It's wonderful to be able simply to cook without having to fight one's equipment. I never realized how much difference it would make, not only in the quality of the results, but also in my enjoyment of the process of cooking. Buying a cheaply made pan or pot is a false economy, one that will never again tempt me.


  2. We received this as a wedding gift, and the size is excellent. The MC2 brushed finish is far easier to keep clean than our all-clad stainless pans. The only problem is that the handles on this pot get extremely hot (not just warm) when I use it--I can't touch them at all without pot-holders. I'm used to the stay-cool all-clad frying pan handles. I assumed that the shorter handles would stay cool as well, but they didn't.


  3. I like the "Master Chef 2" line of All-Clad products. They have an attractive brushed aluminum exterior with stainless steel interior and lid. They have a solid aluminum core that not only fills the bottom but also extends up the sides, so you get even heating of your food. The lids fit well, you can use metal utensils on the cookware without damaging it, and the smooth interior cleans fairly easily. The cookware is durable and will last for years without incident. If you drop it, you're far more likely to hurt your foot or the floor than the pot! The handles are riveted on very strongly, and we've never had a handle show signs of giving way or pulling loose. We've had our All-Clad items for years and they're in fantastic shape.

    Technically you could put your MC2 cookware in the dishwasher, but it isn't recommended. Not only would the 5-quart casserole not really fit very well (it's a bit tall) but this can eventually ruin the nice finish, causing discoloration. This is one of the real down-sides to All-Clad cookware in an age when most new cookware is dishwasher safe.

    I also find that the 5-quart casserole (I actually think of it as a stockpot because it seems closer to that in shape) isn't the most useful size. It seems like most of the things we make need to be in a smaller or larger pot; there are few things that fit perfectly in a 5-quart pot. The one thing this pot does have going for it, however, is that aforementioned shape. The tall, comparatively narrow shape of it means that if you're cooking something that you want in a large pot due to spattering worries, but that you want in a narrow pot because you aren't cooking much of it and don't want to burn the bottom of it, this is one pot that'll do the job well.


  4. This is a very useful saute/ soup/ casserole/ saucepan that can double for numerous purposes in a pinch. I have cooked veggies, meat, and curries in here and each have turned out delicious. But the real miracle is how beautifully it cooks rice--brown or white (I cook 2 cups at a time, and keep the flame low to prevent the rice sticking to the bottom of the pot). These days I have more saucepans than I used to, so I use it almost exclusively for that, but how nice to have such a versatile instrument!


  5. Thsi pot is the ideal size for boiling up to a pound of pasta, making soups, casseroles, or anything that needs to start on the stove and go into the oven. I use it at least once a week. It only measures 8" wide so it takes up very little shelf space. A great piece of equipment, in my opinion.
