  1. I was excited when I finally received my cocktail shaker. The recipes on the side are a neat idea which is the main reason I bought the shaker. While making a drink, I went to shake it and liquid went everywhere. The problem with it is there is nothing around the rim to seal the shaker.

  2. I really like how the recipes are printed on the container. It makes it easy to bring to parties and know what drinks to make for your guests. The color red is a classic color, and it goes well with bar/kitchen decor.

  1. I've owned this shaker for several months it is now the only shaker that I use despite owning some other nice tradional shakers. I've used cheap boston shakers from a restaurant supply place in the past and have had problems with sealing and unsealing and also with rusting. None of those problems with this shaker. It seals easily and securely and I've never struggled to unseal it. Very sturdy too. I plan to buy a second one.

  2. This item arrived quickly, and as described. The mixing glass is quite substantial, very sturdy, with easy to read measuring amounts up one side. It takes some practice transitioning from a cocktail shaker, but is easy to use, and much better...no sticking together of parts! Per Alton Brown's suggestion, I purchased a julep strainer, which works well with this Boston shaker. Overall, a great purchase.

  3. The mixing glass is sturdy; the metal cup is stainless steel with an elegant brushed finish. Together the components make a tight seal. This is a big improvement over the small cobbler shaker that I have been using.

  1. I'll make a long story short. I like a cold martini that's very well shaken so that there are ice crystals on the top of the drink. This machine is not capable of doing that.

Don't get me wrong, it's a cute thing and seems to be reasonably well made. If you like your martinis cool to somewhat cold, it will probably be a good choice for you. However, I like my martinis very cold and it's not up to the task of making them the way that I like them, even after multiple cycles back-to-back.

I also tried to make a Lemon Drop Martini using a powdered mix. 2 cycles later, it did not shake hard enough to blend the mix properly. Drinks poured from the top of the shaker tasted mostly of water and vodka where the bottom was very sweet due to the largely undissolved mix.

So...It's just fine for those who like cool to somewhat cold martinis, but if you like them very cold like I do, it's probably not a good choice. And if you're going to be using powdered mixes, the shaking may not be strong enough to mix your drink properly.

  2. This is not a toy............It makes a great Martini.
Perfectly chilled without freezing your hands. Also great for
Margaritas,Screwdrivers and Bloody Marys.......I love it!

  3. I bought this shaker for my husband's birthday. Was not sure what it would be like but since he does enjoy martinis now and again thought it would be a neat gift. It certainly was a hit with him. He said it made a perfect martini. We followed the directions to a tee, and now he enjoys several different kinds of martinis mixed by the shaker. It can also be used for other mixed drinks, without the mess of shaking yourself. Recommend this product to all.

  4. I love my waring Pro electric martini shaker. A friend of mine received one for her birthday, and I knew then, I had to have one too. It shakes up the best cosmos and martinis. The drinks taste better when electronically shaken. My husband likes his Manhattan's stirred and this machine can also stir. It is a fun item to have and a great conversation piece when entertaining. It also comes with a recipe book for all kinds of shaken drinks.

  5. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1ZOFM73EGT3TR We followed the simple directions, filled with ice and our martini ingredients. Someone has a sense of humor as when you push the on/off button to turn the machine on the green olive on the martini graphic (just above the switch) lights up. It works well in either shaken or stirred mode.Obviously this was the shaken mode on the video. We found it to be a wonderful and amusing device. Unlike some earlier incarnations and attempts at a automatic cocktail shaker this one actually works well. The ultimate toy for the lazy bartender. While we strongly suggest Gary Regan's Cocktails in the Country to learn proper manual, old fashioned (and fun) bartending, this is a great machine for those who can't or don't want to shake or stir their cocktails themselves.Would suggest the following books to go with it:diffordsguide to Cocktails 7 (Diffords Guide) (Diffords Guide)A marvelous, encyclopedic cocktail book ,and/or How's Your Drink?: Cocktails, Culture, and the Art of Drinking Wellanother great cocktail book with history and stories for each drink (something to read while the machine is running) and/orImbibe!: From Absinthe Cocktail to Whiskey Smash, a Salute in Stories and Drinks to "Professor" Jerry Thomas, Pioneer of the American Bar Featuring the Originawhich is a fascinating biography of the world famous "Professor" Jerry Thomas the bartender and bon vivant who published the first cocktail book with recipes updated from the original.

  1. I've used other, cheaper cocktail shakers before, and the problem has always been they are only good for one drink- when they become cold they tend to fuse together and are impossible to open back up. The loose fitting top of the WMF shaker accounts for this- it has enough wiggle room so as not to become firmly frozen in place, and is easily removed after mixing a drink. Beware: while pouring use one hand to hold the strainer portion in place, lest it separate and cascade down into your cocktail glass.

  2. It's perfect. Absolutely no leaks and it's never difficult to open. I've been diligently pursuing the perfect margarita with the aid of my new WMF cocktail shaker. I am so pleased with its performance I had to have another to increase my margarita making efficiency. No matter how many variations on perfection I create, this shaker has not let me down. It's truly a thing of beauty... Here's looking up your old address!!!

  3. my husband and i reviewed many of the shakers out there, this is a great one, he loves it and has not had any complaints, no leaks not hard to remove the top. perfect for the home bar tender

  4. I wasn't at all familiar with the WMF brand, but I was in the market for a cocktail shaker. This one came along at the right time and I was able to purchase it at half price because of a tear in the box! The shaker is made of 18/10 stainless steel and seems very well made with a built in jigger and strainer. A fine instrument for making martinis. I have always liked the products made in Germany, and this one reinforces my belief in German engineering, and for half price it was a bargain. I'll take a torn box anytime to save half.
    Thanks Amazon

  5. I ordered this shaker with the greatest anticipation -- how nice to have a large shaker, with pleasant style, and a built-in strainer to boot. Three broken (and costly) martini glasses later (the last of which occurred 3 minutes ago), I've tossed it into the trash. It's interesting that others have said the fittings were too tight. I might agree that the cap is too tight, but the connection of the top and the base is way too loose, setting up knee-slappingly funny moments where the shaker's top comes off mid-pour, not only shattering said glass into at least 3 dozen pieces of varying sizes, but also setting free the Quite Expensive Liquors, loads of ice, and the shaker's top and cap, which distribute themselves all over Creation. (Several choice words were broadcast all over Creation each time as well.) Sure, one should hold tight to the top, grasping it with all one's might, to ensure such an unfortunate scene isn't played out. But, hey, the thing's cold, my martini glass is thirsty, and after combining ingredients, preparing the glass, and shaking the cocktail with gusto, that final moment of pouring -- simply, POURING -- shouldn't involve so much compensating for the poor engineering. Maybe it's TOO large. Maybe it's TOO heavy. These seemed like good attributes at first, but I think it's time for a smaller, lighter shaker, or two glasses of different sizes to act as one. Beware this heavy-duty Big Boy -- it's eyeing your finest glassware and silently plotting!

  1. Really does make drink mixing fun!! You cannot achieve the same results without one!

  2. Drinks spill out of the shaker quite a bit; could have been designed better. However, you get what you pay for with this cheap price.

  3. The shaker feels a little light due to the thin metal gauge but it certainly does the job and as the cap doubles as a jigger this saves you buying ( and probably losing ) a separate jigger. There are certainly much fancier shakers available than this but at nowhere near the remarkably low price, which is unbeatable. I recommend this for a very cheap, no - nonsense shaker and jigger combined.

  4. I have used this shaker for about a year, and my only complaint is that it will occasionally leak while pouring. Otherwise a good product.

  5. MAKES THE BEST MARTINIS MY FRINEDS HAVE EVER HAD AND I LOVE THE ICE CUBES AFTERWORDS FOR MY MARITNI ON THE ROCKS

  1. Beautiful retro looking shaker. Perfect for appletinis, martinis, margaritas on the rocks, cosmos, you name it! The stainless steel will impress your friends and I could swear that it makes your cocktail taste that much "fancier"!

  2. I like my Martinis, Manhattans, etc, cold--I keep it in the freezer and when called to duty it performs at a 100 percent level. I do not know what more I could ask of it. (Well engineered--the three parts fit together perfectly and it looks good too.)

  3. It's just the right size, seems a little more substantial than other stainless steel shakers I've held, and I haven't had any of the hard-to-open-once-you've-made-a-cocktail problems.

  4. Beautiful shaker. Nice addition to any bar. The high gloss finish looks classy and is easy to take care of.

  5. No need to spend a lot on a shaker; this one is stylish and beautifully functional.

    Good points:

Large enough for 2 double martinis
    Has a strainer
    Great looking lines

    Bad Points:

As in all metal-on-metal shakers where the temperature changes rapidly, the lid WILL tend to stick. This is physics; the metal contracts when you chill the drinks. Still, it could have a better grippy surface to grab onto so you can remove it.

    My recipe for a Cosmopolitan

    2 oz Swedish citron vodka
1 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
    1/2 juiced lime
1 oz best quality cranberry juice
    1 lemon zest for garnish

Pour ingredients into iced shaker, strain, garnish with the lemon zest.

  1. I work as the bar manager for a restaurant in NYC. Recently I purchased four of these shiny little shakers because I thought they were visually appealing. Unfortunately, they leak all over the place, making a sticky mess in their wake.

These certainly look sheik, but perhaps look elsewhere if you are looking for a high volume, truly functional bar accessory.

  2. I called OXO to tell them about the leakage issue I was having with my Shaker. They told me there was a slight problem that has since been corrected. They sent me a new Shaker free of charge and the problem no longer exists. I am delighted with my OXO Shaker. It is functional and stylish and has surpassed my expectations.

  3. A great addition to your bar keep. This is a 3 piece shaker that includes a jigger in the lid. This makes for a wonderful addition at home or in your picnic basket. OXO has made another brilliant design/product. You won't be disappointed.

  4. While not the most singularly elegant shaker, it is highly functional, with a jigger measure in the cap with lines for 1/2 and 1 jigger, plus a 1 ounce measure. All fits well and tight.

  5. I can't open my shaker. It is impossible to unscrew. It doesn't appear damaged, but clearly wasn't screwed together properly at the factory because it came out of the box stuck shut. Worst of all I got it on Amazon so I have to mail it back if I want my money back.

  1. I returned this item once it literally fell apart after a few uses. The strainer broke free of its housing in the cap after a few vigorous shakes. Couldn't be more cheaply made.

  2. When they say it has a strainer, I thought they meant a "real" coctail strainer. But no, it's just some holes poked in the lid. Maybe it's my fault for not understanding the discription. I am disapointed!

  3. Very happy with this item. Especially like that it is covered so your hands don't get cold.

  4. I bought the shaker as a gift for my boyfriend. It arrived faster than I had originally anticipated and it was exactly what I wanted. I was very pleased. My boyfriend also was very pleased with it overall.

  5. This cocktail shaker is exactly what I was looking for. The faux leather covering helps to make it easier and more comfortable to use
( no more frozen fingers.) It is a very nice size, not too small, and can be used to mix several drinks at one time.

  1. It is not very often that I feel compelled to write a review on a product, but I just received one of these & love it. I used a Boston shaker for years (because that's what I owned), with a cocktail strainer, but it was messy. This really was leak & spill proof (for my 94 proof). I was wondering why no one has thought of this before. Good job Metrokane!

  2. This is the first truly leak proof cocktail shaker I have found. Not only is it well sealed, but it is virtually one hand operation. Just shake up your mixture, and with the same hand you are holding it with, push down and the top flips up for easy pouring. The built in strainer is a great added feature and makes it easy to use with no added tools needed!

  3. We should have heeded warnings from other reviewers. Great concept with the built-in flip top, but the novelty wears off as soon as you shake up a drink and the contents leak out.
