Got it with this one. Took no time at all to figure out how much liquid to how much ice. It is great. It really keeps up, even with a large crowd. It is fun to use too. I highly recommend it to anyone that really enjoys a good margarita.



3. This machine works like a charm and is so easy to use. Every household should have one of these not just for margaritas but other slushie type summer drinks. It is very easy to use and works very fast. Takes very little effort to clean and the only draw back is it is a little large to sit on the counter for everyday. I follow directions by taking the ice out of the freezer about 15 minutes prior to using the machine. I haven't had any problem to date and would recommend this to everyone.



4. As a seasoned margarita maker/drinker this machine is wonderful. A little pricey, yes, but worth it. We have three in the family and everyone is thrilled, no complaints. Just follow the instructions and you won't be disappointed.



5. I picked up the DM0500 model after some extensive shopping around for one of the Margaritaville blenders. This one doesn't hold as much ice as the others but it holds enough for one pitcher worth of drinks. It also doesn't have the fancy buttons that the others have that denote "mudslide," "daiquiri," or "Margarita"(I've heard there is little difference in these settings).
   
   That is the main difference between this model and the others. It had the standard shave only/ blend only switch and a start button( more on that later).
   
   The blender itself is very nice it has some great artistic accents like behind the pitcher on the machine is a metal engraving of a palm tree and a sea plane. The construction is easy and it works right out of the box. All you have to do is attach the ice hopper and you're finished.
   
   Some of the negatives though are that the metal ice chute (that's what I call it) shifts up and down so that it fits perfectly and tightly to the pitcher which is nice except that it doesn't seem like it is extremely sturdy but it hasn't broken yet so I guess I should report that if it does.
   
   The Start button is nice it makes a drink about the consistancy of a smoothie from smoothie king. I enjoyed it alot. The ice hopper shreds ice like a dream and the seal on the top if fantastic. I noticed some people complaining that it spilled and I have had no such problem.
   
   I would highly recommend this model over the others for it's reasonable price and great offerings.

1. This Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker DM1000 is the best that I've ever seen. At one point, I seriously considered buying the Island Oasis for $2500, as pricey as that is, just to have a good machine at home for entertaining...but then I found this thing, read all the reviews and figured, why not give it a shot for under $300? I'M SO GLAD I DID!
   
   This thing has a powerful motor, and it's finished drinks are as good as you'll get out of any Island Oasis machine. It truly is dummy-proof and makes a professional bartender out of just about anyone. Follow written drink recipies or create your own. Tripping over your own great recipies is half the fun with this thing!
   
   In the beginning, we though the drinks came out a bit watery, but due to the ice being shaven, then blended, the shaved ice would often melt down a bit, losing a bit of the "slushyness". We found that we ignored a few tips to actually freeze the blender jar (or at least refrigerate it for a while) before making drinks. This way, when the shaven ice hits the jar, it does not instantly start to melt. This is the secret to making a drink with the perfect consistency.
   
   This machine is great at home, and we bought the carrying case for it as well so we can take it with us to our football tailgating parties and everything else. People have seen it in action and now request that we bring it with us to their events. I should start charging a rental fee and make my purchase money back on it!!!
   
   If you don't have one of these...BUY ONE!!! It is great.



2. I have only used the product a few times, but I absolutely love it. I am definitely going to buy some to give out as gifts to friends. saw them brand new on ebay for a very good price!

Our household has bought 3 of these in the past year - two to give as gifts and one I received as an anniversary gift from my husband (best d*** anniversary gift I've received during my 40 years of marriage). The people who have received the Margaritaville Machines are absolutely ga-ga over them and have thanked us profusely. It easy to use and really makes fail-proof Margaritas. My only complaint: I cannot get the ice shaving blade out to examine (for nicks) and to dry. My spouse really got a nasty cut in the process of doing so. So I dry it in situ.
   
   Buy a MM, you won't be sorry. We love ours.



4. We were entertaining and I didn't have time to whip up our usual recipe. A quick search on the net came up with what is apparently the hands down only decent ready-made mix on the market: Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's Top Shelf Margarita Mix. After fiddling with just how much liquid to ice makes us happy, we set down to blend. WOW!!!! No doubt about it, this is one great blender. Easy to use, (EVEN after a few margaritas!)
   
   We've now taken to using it with juices, in fact, I'm THRILLED that the teenagers are using it to brew up juice smoothies as adding all that ice cuts down on how much sugar they're consuming! We're so impressed with the unit that we're ordering another for our vacation home.
   
   IF YOU NEED ANOTHER PITCHER OR WANT THE LARGER ICE CONTAINER: I received an upgrade from Frontgate.com. This kit gives you the larger ice container for the top ([..]) and a PLASTIC pitcher. [..] for the upgrade kit, but you still come out ahead since you'll have TWO pitchers and a backup ice container.



5. My sister and I got this for my dad for fathers day. This last weekend we got to try it out.
   
   Ice comes out beautiful. Shaved ice made for perfectly slushy margaritas. I even make the kids sno cones by just hitting the shave only and topping with that syrup you can buy at the store.
   
   Important: Do not use margarita mixes. The thing comes out watery. We use frozen limeade mix. It's relatively cheap and I think the frozen consistency helps make the drink more slushy. You can adjust the amount to your taste. We used over a half can full for a real tart margarita.
   
   Some may have better luck with margarita mix but for us after about 4 tries and each too watery we decided to go with the limeade and it came out great every time.
   
   I love this machine. I am jealous my dad has one and strongly hinted to everyone at the party that this would be a great gift idea for me. Hopefully I'll get one for christmas.
   
   Is it expensive? Of course. Is it a real cool toy? Oh yes!!! It's a monster size unit, but it is so fun to use it became a focal point at the party with everybody standing around talking while we made the drinks. My dad loves it for the ease of use. I love it 'cause I can have margaritas anytime.

2. This is a small crusher but if you stay at it, you can crush enough ice for several drinks in a very short time. Being a hot summer here it get used at least once a day if not more. The crushed ice is small like that for a snow cone but I just add a couple regular cubes to my drinks and it stays cooler longer. I'm very pleased for the price I paid and the use I'm getting from it. I'm pretty picky about things I buy and do alot of looking and comparing. Took a bit but pleased with this crusher.



3. This worked one time and then it wouldn't work at all. Just got hot and water leaked out. I wouldn't recommend this item.



4. I was ecstatic to receive this as a birthday present but was utterly disappointed! Yes, it does crush ice, but the short-comings of the appliance far outweigh its crushing performance. The trap door system of inserting ice cubes allows ice to shoot back out at you if you are not quick enough. Crushed ice gets stuck inside and continues to drip out 10 minutes after crushing.
   
   The worst part was that I was finding little pieces of metal in the ice and the water smelled like metal--not safe or healthy!



5. Love it. Great product for the money. Works better than expected. Use it every day. Easy to use.

1. One of my criteria in my blender search was that it had to be red. When I found this one and read the (mostly) good reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy it.
   
   It's a very pretty blender and the container is glass, which I really like. It's sturdy and well-made.
   
   Unlike some of the reviews, however, I am unable to get ALL the ice to totally crush, no matter what setting I use. It's not enough to make the beverages undrinkable, but that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
   
   It's definitely a good value for the money!



2. Had this blender for about six months and used it four or five times, nothing heavy duty, just purée veggies. Few nights ago while using it to purée cups of cooked chickpeas, some smoke came out of the motor base then it just die. What a piece of junk!



3. I was hoping, based on others' reviews, to receive a better-than-average blender. This is not. Smoothies/slushies get ice chucks. The blender does not really lend itself to these type of drinks. Popping the top to use a spatula to assist is just like any other blender. I really hoped for more/better.



4. I was finally able to kill this blender after using it every single morning to make a smoothie drink made up of frozen fruit,it took me over 5 years. I'm glad to see they are still making this model. Love the glass pitcher which has a very wide base when it is removed from the blender itself. This keeps you from knocking it over when it is full of blended food. Best small appliance money I have every spent.



5. This little guy powers through just about everything you throw at it. It crushed ice and made margaritas like that was its job. The "Wave-Action" design actually does help mix things around inside the blender. The only con is that it is pretty noisy, especially when doing ice or icy drinks, but that's a loud process regardless of what blender you use.

1. just got this blender and i have to say its really great, i'v only made a handful of shakes but i can tell a huge difference from my old blender. the preset button makes it easy, just drop in the stuff and one click later u have a great shake or smoothie. this thing shreds ice like nobody's business.



2. This blender works great! It crushes ice easily so making smoothies at home is a breeze. It's also easy to take apart for cleaning. Just need to beware of the very sharp blades.



3. This was a great blender. Made 2 really good margaritas. On the third one, the bottom came off and the margarita went all over the base and the counter. That was it. The machine never worked again. At $90, that was $45 per margarita. The were good, but pretty sure not worth that much.



4. I just received this blender today. I've never had a blender this powerful, but it does it's claim to fame for smoothies..the best I've ever tried from a home blender, equal to say a Vita-Mix smoothie. However, if you try using the blender just to crush a bunch of ice, you'll be disappointed because it spins so fast it creates an air pocket above the ice. As long as you have liquid and a blend of ingredients for the ice to be mixed up in it works awesome. The blender is very powerful. I haven't had the chance to make frozen drinks like margaritas or daquiris in it yet.

1. I absolutely love this blender. As a disclaimer, I only use this blender to make protein smoothies every morning with frozen fruit, ice, powder and liquids. It blends them perfectly everytime. You can really actually see the WAVE technology fiercely mixing the ingredients up and around to make sure every item is chopped evenly. THE ICE CRUSHING IS PERFECT. I always get the perfect little crystals each time, never any chunks or sticking. I bought this model to replace an Oster that was more expensive. I had to replace the Oster twice in 4 months after both of them broke. I finally decided to just go with another manufacturer. This Hamilton Beach is alot more sturdy. With my Oster model, the bottom of the glass portion wasn't wide enough and it always seemed a bit shakey on the base (like an upside down triangle). This glass container has a wide enough bottom where it sits in the base secure and locks in. It also looks great on the counter. I have a very modern, updated kitchen with black and stainless steel and this goes perfectly with everything else. Also, the glass container is very thick and doesn't feel or look cheap. I would definitely recommend Hamilton Beach over other types of blenders.



2. The blender works great and is easy to disassemble and clean. The lid fits in a little too snugly so it has to be pushed in firmly, but apart from that I'm pleased with the blender. Looks great on the counter, too.



3. I own the Hamilton Beach 54245 Black Deluxe Ensemble 14-Speed Power Plus Blender and I am very pleased with its performance. This blender has a blade-and-jar design (called wave action) that sucks the ingredients in for incredibly thorough blending, resulting in smooth, uniform consistency. It has a powerful (700-watt peak) motor that, combined with the wave action, yields excellent results. The motor carries a 3-year warranty. I use it mostly for ice shakes (usually the most demanding feature) and it crushes ice easily with no lumps left whatsoever. Its 48-oz glass jar secures easily on its sturdy base and is dishwasher friendly. Easy to clean and with no parts to assemble, this is my best blender to date. I highly recommend it.



4. I ordered this blender - model 54245. Unfortunately, the wrong manual was placed in the box by Hamilton Beach production - wherever that is. I've uploaded two photos of the wrong manual. I wanted to order an accessory, but the drawing that shows the parts doesn't look anything like this blender. In addition, the back of the manual shows the "modelos" numbers, which doesn't include 54245.
   
   Dear Hamilton Beach - please have your Quality Assurance dept do an audit of this production line.
   
   I've now downloaded the CORRECT manual from Hamilton Beach's website.
   
   It's not just this issue that bothers me. I have another negative review on Amazon for a Hamilton Beach cutter blade that I ordered. The box for that cutter blade showed the old-style cutter blade, but what was in the box was the new "wave action" cutter blade - the box showing something completely different than what was inside. I'm quickly loosing my trust in ordering anything Hamilton Beach. Click on my username to see that review.



5. This blender will do anything you ask of it, from breezing through ice to purees or shakes, its powerful motor makes the task easy. The blender makes a handsome addition to your kitchen also. It was a bargain for the price.

1. this o-ring is thicker than the one replacing it. don't know at what point it changed, but what a disappointment. the blender doesn't fit in the housing correctly and runs the motor super hot.



2. While the gasket I'm sure fits some blender, it does not fit the blender it is supposed to fit. It is to large and too thick. I am looking eles were to find one that fits and will not purchase from the web again. I strongly suggest that unless it have a model number that matches exactly, these gaskets are not interchangable and you need to take your base to the store with you.



3. Appears to be the same as the original. No problems with it so far.

1. I have no complaints whatsoever.
   The product is just beautiful. I'm enjoying it and to be honest with you, i was pleasantly surprised.
   The power of this vita mix blender is just amazing. I bought a juicer from a company after i bought the Vita-mix, and it died the same day. I had to send it back and get a refund. The vita mix is still going strong.

2. Why, you say, should I spend this insane amount of money for a blender? My answer: Because it's worth it. There is simply no comparison to other blenders. The Vitamix is the best. It really does crush ice effectively, make ice cream in seconds from frozen fruit and cream, and produces drinks and sauces that are utterly smooth, plus soups to die for. I make my own hummus and used it for baby food regularly, guests love it for silky frozen drinks, and it lasts--with zero problems. It's a quality device. Advertising is geared to health food because you can make drinks or soups from fresh produce and take advantage of the natural fiber that juicers take out, and they're right, but that's not why I bought it. I bought it because I hate the odd chunky bits of fruit in my smoothies, I hate taking blenders apart for cleaning and I wanted something I could depend on to do what I wanted each and every time. I've not been disappointed.



3. This Vita-Mix blender is amazing. Well made, extremely versatile and quite large... this machine means business. The included dvd and recipe book are top notch and include many recipes to showcase the machines abilities. Beware, this machine is very powerful... start on low and then "rev" it up to high speed as the instructions indicate. I've created Jamba Juice quality smoothies and Sbucks quality frappuccino's for houseguests and they are always impressed. Worth every penny.



4. The Vita-Mix is by far the best blender I have ever used. It does great purées, soups and smoothies. Very well made, easy to use and easy to clean, it may be a little expensive but it is well worth it. Very happy with this blender



5. This is the Mack Truck of countertop kitchen appliances. Ideal for making blended ice drinks, smoothies and vegetable purees for soup. We first noticed this mighty machine being used in a major coffee chain, then in fast food places, and finally at most restaurant bars. We were delighted to learn that the very same commercial kitchen equipment is now available for home kitchen use.
   It comes with an astounding amount of great recipes in a cookbook as heavy as the machine itself. Surprised to learn that it is possible to make soup in this machine without cooking. Just the intense friction caused by fast-moving blades chopping and grinding vegetable ingredients heats soup to serving temperature as fast as heating in a microwave.
   The Vita-Mix is more than a blender, it is a professional kitchen food prep machine that is endorsed by chef instructors at the Culinary Institute of America.
   We have also used this amazing American-made machine to puree our own baby food, because we trust locally grown produce more than what comes pre-processed in grocery store jars of baby food.
   This is a lifetime investment in great equipment.
