- This is the best mixing bottle that I have found to date. The seals on the lid and on the cap work very well, with no leakage, and the blender ball works really well at thoroughly mixing the protein powder and flax meal in my sports shakes. This works better than any of the other products that I have tried, and I'm throwing out my other bottles and buying more of these. Highly recommended.

- WE ORDERED THIS BLENDER TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT WAS BROKEN AND THE PRICE AND VALUE OF THIS BLENDER WAS GREAT. IT WAS MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONE IT REPLACED AND ENTIRE FAMILY IS PLEASED WITH ITS OPERATION AND PERFORMANCE. WOULD RECOMMEND FOR A NICE HOUSEHOLD BLENDER. SHAVES ICE NICELY ALSO!
- I received this blender as a wedding gift several years ago. It doesn't blend very smoothly -- to avoid lumps, I have to frequently stop blending, stir the ingredients, and start blending again. It also doesn't blend things quickly. The worst thing about this product, though, is the noise: it is ridiculously loud (the disc sander, power drill, and other power tools in my home are all quieter!). The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is that it has lasted several years without frying completely (though this may be too generous, as I only use it rarely and the motor smells burnt when operating).
- My grandmother had the same Oster blender since the 60's and it still works great. I recently bought this and was skeptical when I saw that Oster and Sunbeam or part of the same conglamourate. I stupidly threw the box and reciept out and my blender just went out in a blaze of non-glory. It was frustrating to keep poking at smoothies with a spoon so they would mix but now the whole thing just died after a month or about 5 smoothies. What's worse is I was using crushed ice instead of cubes to cut down on the work the wimpy motor needed to do anyway. Also the buttons were just for decoration I guess because it only had one speed. Save your money.
- I used this at my mother's house over Christmas and must say that this is not a good blender. There is no noticeable difference in the 12 speeds - only between speeds 1-6 and 7-12 and I had to repeatdly turn off the blender, dig in there with a spoon to stir up the fruit (or ice) and then turn it back on again, then it turn off , dig in there with a spoon to stir up the fruit (or ice) and then turn it back on again... And even then I didn't get a well blender smoothie/milkshake.
I personally own the "Oster 4093-8O Classic Beehive Blender, Chrome" and love it (I have a review there). Its well worth the extra $7.22 - makes SMOOTH drinks on one blending cycle.
- I bought this blender a couple of years ago, and still use it because its all I've got. I want to upgrade! I use it about once every 2 weeks. It is fine for the most basic uses, but honestly all those buttons are joke - horrible to keep clean, and there is no difference between any of the speeds. And the food doesn't drop down properly, only the stuff at the bottom gets blended. And if there isn't lots of liquid in there, it doesn't blend at all. I would not recommend it to anyone.

- I've made one smoothie per day for two years and mine is still working fine. The key is in what ingredients you use and how much stress they put on the machine. In my case it's eight ounces of yogurt, one half fresh banana, 3oz of frozen blueberries, one scoop of protein powder, and a couple of ice cubes. The ice cubes are added last and have never created a problem. Perfect smoothie every time without any stirring. I like it enough to have ordered a spare cutter blade assembly and coupler, but have not needed them yet.
For those with more demanding tasks, such as making their own peanut butter, grinding grains, heating soup, etc, I would suggest you spend the extra three hundred dollars to get the Vita-Mix. It will do all these things while drawing enough power to dim your lights and making enough noise to frighten your pets.
- I bought this blender because I love my KichenAid Mixer. The KitchenAid Blender is middle of the road. I'm afraid I won't ever know what the best blender for smoothies would be, since I already bought this one.
If you have ever had a cheep blender, you will know that they have weak motors, a plastic jar that will crack and leaky gaskets. The KitchenAid has a much more powerful motor, and a glass jar, but it strains to chop ice. I think it was designed for ice, since one of the pictures for this model shows the jar full of ice.
When we want to chop ice, we found that if you first pour in at least two cups of liquid, then add the ice it works fine. Then add your fruit and other items and you have your smoothie. It often gets jammed up and I have to stir or add more liquid to get it moving again.

- A great blender for a while with weekly use...but it wasn't long before a tooth broke off the black coupler that drives the blade. Soon after, another tooth broke off and now it doesn't spin the blade properly. A weak link in a blender that is otherwise very good. I do not recommend as this part should have been made stronger.
- The black coupler will break and you'll need to get that part replaced. It's easy to replace, but you have to find the part. I suggest buying a few of these parts if you already have this blender. If you are thinking about purchasing this blender, don't. It's not that powerful, parts are expensive, things tend to break easily...
- Several reviewers suggested that the blender can be used to crush ice. Don't do it! My primary use for blenders is making fruit juice slushies. Unfortunately, an ice cube wedged between the blade and the bottom of the jar and the plastic rotor -- not sure what you call it, but the piece that couples the base to the blender blade -- ended up in little pieces. I suspect getting the blender repaired wouldn't be worth the time and cost, so the blender will be going into the trash.

- I read previous reviews on this item about how LOUD it is. And I thought, well, all blenders are annoyingly loud. Yes, it is loud, but man does it do the job. Two settings; GO ALL THE WAY and PULSE. That's all you need. None of this liquify, blend, whip, puree, blah blah blah. I never did see a difference in anything I whipped versus pureed! Thought I was doing something wrong, now I know it's just a bunch of bologne! The copper looks great on my counter too, with my other copper accents in the kitchen!
- This blender is the first which does everything the appliance is supposed to do. I have never placed much value in our previous blenders or smoothy makers. This blender has only an on/off/pulse switch, no integrated stir stick or any other special "features". Manufacturers apparently add these gimmicks to try to make you think their blender is better or more functional than the sorry one currently sitting on the counter.
This blender not only does the job, it is very fast and efficient. It turns 3/4 cup of solid ice cubes into snow with a single pulse. No beating, smacking or shaking needed. Ice cream shakes take less than a minute even with carmel or fudge added.
In just a few weeks we have gotten more value from this machine than any we have previously owned. If it burned up tomorrow, I would buy another. Excellent product. For me this product sets the standard for 5 star ratings.
- I had read some reviews of this product under the stainless steel model. People said it was loud. I thought, of course it's loud, all blenders are loud. Received it today. Sounds like a jet engine is taking off in my kitchen. Yeah, that loud. The kids had their hands clamped over their ears and my husband and I were screaming over the noise. And I hadn't even added the ice yet! I got a large bath towel to wrap around the base and it muffled the sound somewhat, but I'm pretty sure I have permanent hearing loss.
The copper is beautiful and it chopped the ice without struggling, but wow. SO LOUD!
- This blender looks beautiful, love the copper look.
It really fit well, with the things in my kitchen, and looked great.
In less than 5 days, the coupler that connected to the blade, sheared off.
It seems that it is held together by glue. My old Commercial blender has been in operation, for 10 years now, and still works - just a bit tired.
We ordered the Cuisinart Stainless 600 Watt blender, hope it works better, and lasts longer than this.
If you are interested in the copper model, look for the comments, under the chrome version. I missed the negative comments there, until I had the failure.
- We have now owned this for 2 years, and it works just as well as it did the first day. From Gazpacho to milkshakes this is a fabulous blender. ( And I have used many different syles). Well worth the money!
All be it, I just pulled this beautiful piece of machinery out of the box today...but it is incredible! All it promises to be and more. Right down to the manual, this is well worth it's price, and we even had to pay shipping to Alaska! It's heavy duty all metal construction really shows through. So much better than some of the cheap plastic imitators we owned before! =) It even has some really great recipes included with it. Just made a perfect batch of strawberry margaritas with real frozen berries, perfect consistency! I will definitely keep you updated as time goes by and I get to try it out on soups and milkshakes, mousses and dips!

- I've had two or three reliable Oster blenders in 30+ years, and this one was a piece of junk. I blended a smoothie, and it would not shut off, so I had to pull the plug. When I plugged it back in, it wouldn't turn on.
This didn't seem to have the power of a 1,000 watt blender, as noted on the box. I wasn't surprised to see 600 watts marked on the bottom of the blender. Don't they call that false advertising?
- After only a month of having this product, the all metal drive snapped in half. In truth the all metal drive is a metal cap with a rubber gasket underneath. We purchased this blender to replace our oster beehive which had the exact thing break after 2 years. This only lasted for 29 days.
- Okay, it's fast. :) And the results were a very smooth mixture...
Sadly, when taking the motor unit out of the box, you could feel the motor inside go up and down if you turned the main part upside down and back.
Worse, when actually using this thing, the motor sounds wrong. It's loud, that's not the problem, but the whir noise is unevenly pitched.
Now I've only used this thing in manual mode; no pre-set modes that turn the blades backwards and forwards at various speeds; just "maximum" or even holding down "max pulse".
Then I came here to read peoples' glowing reviews. Glowing with anger, it seems. I've a feeling this unit is going to peter out within a month. Even the 400 watt puny Oster model I had prior to this one didn't sound like a duck choking on tootsie roll!
I'm going to risk keeping it. I mean, it's only money and the way it's built I'm going to expect the blade to fly off and slash my wrist one day and claim "I did it in self defense, because that meanie of an owner wanted to return me because he figured it out I'm a poorly made piece of junk!"
- I have had a Vita-Max for almost 7 years now. While the Vita-Mix can't be beat power wise it has some very important weaknesses. First it is very expensive. I paid almost $600 for mine. Second, if you use protein poweder in it you have to not only rinse it immediately, you have to blend water in it to clean the protein powder grit out of it so that it doesn't destroy the blade assembly. I have went through three blade assemblies in the last 7 years. This with following their directions for blending water in it after using it. Third, the plastic (polycarbonate) containers crack at the bracing points. I have went through 8 containers in 7 Years.
I bought the Oster Fusion because I wanted a simple blender for blended drinks and the like and I didn't want to have to worry about destroying the blade assembly. I have had the Oster Fusion for nearly 4 months now and I still love it. It is powerful, easy to use, great blender container and wonderful rubber seal lid. I have made not only blended coffee drinks, smoothies, milk shakes, slurpies, but have also made salsa, apple sauce, wheat berry pancakes and more in it and it works wonderfully. I am especially impressed with the blenders ability to chop things like salsa and applesauce in to consistent size peices. Not even my Vita-Mix could do that.
The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because you can't reverse the blender yourself, reversing is only done in the two pre-programmed modes. I would like to have a rocker switch that I could move back and forth to reverse and then forward the blades myself. The preprogrammed cycles work great for me. If you drop in a whole tomato or something that can't get down in to the blades of the semi-funnel shaped blender container then it isn't going to be able to blend it. I am for peices that are 1 to 1-1/2-inches in size and I have never had a problem.
As for blending drinks with ice, the instructions say to put the liquid in first and then the ice or ice like stuff (frozen fruit, etc.) I have no issues with this not working. In fact here are two recipes for you.
Ice-Cream Free Strawberry Milk Shake
2 Cups of Frozen Strawberries, thawed for 30 minutes
1-1/2 cups of Milk
1/2 Cup of Half and Half or Whole Milk
4 Packets of Equal
1 Tablespoon of Lime Juice
Place all of the liquids in to the blender container and then add the frozen berries. You want to thaw the frozen berries for about 30 minutes so that they aren't rock hard but still frozen. Use the pre-programmed Frozen Drinks and Shakes mode. As test to see if the berries are frozen but soft enough I use a meat mallet on them. If they can be smashed without a lot of hard heavy pounding they are ready. The frozen berries provides the freezing component to make the shake. It is also best to use really nice ripe berries. We buy berries each year when they are at their peak, prep and freeze them ourselves.
Salsa
2 whole fresh tomatoes (garden fresh are best, but use the best you can get)
1 Jalapeno, seeded and stem removed
1 Small/Medium Can Whole Green Chilies, Drained
1 Can of Diced Tomatoes with Chilies
3 Tablespoons Lime Juice
1/4 Cup Cilantro
1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt (use 1/2 as much or to taste for table salt)
1/4 Medium Red Onion, cut in to chunks
2 Cloves Garlic
Core the tomatoes and cut them in to 1 to 1-1/2-inch pieces and place them in the blender container. Seed and stem the jalapeno and cut in to 1/4's. Add the can of whole green chilies after you drain them. Use the Food Chop mode and then empty the blender container in to a large bowl. Add the canned tomatoes, cilantro, salt, lime juice, garlic and onion in to the blender container and use the Food Chop mode. Add this to the bowl, mix well and then taste. Adjust salt as needed. You can also add some black pepper if you wish.
As for other reviews, people need to understand that nothing made by man or women is perfect. You will (more often now-a-days then in times past) get a lemon, this is the price we pay for being able to get technology at rock bottom prices. Even at $500 plus the Vita-Mix isn't perfect either. Sometimes I think people either don't follow directions or have very un-real expectations. I love my Oster Fusion and I am not sorry I bought it.
- I bought this blender 9 months ago. We make a smoothie every morning using frozen fruit, yogurt, tofu, etc. I've been wearing out blenders in months. I kept buying more and more expensive blenders reasoning that you get what you pay for. However, I had heard that Oster had a metal drive shaft and that was usually the part that wore out on the other blenders. I really needed a new one quickly, too. So I grabbed this off the shelf at Target.
Less money than I'd paid for my last 3 or 4 blenders.
It works great! People complain about the noise, but I actually think it makes less noise than the more expensive blenders, partly because it doesn't take very long to make a smoothie.
The ice-crushing mechanism that reverses direction is absolutely amazing! I feel like I could charge admission to people who would want to see it work. (OK, I guess I'm a little geeky).
But I never have any chunks after a single run-through of it's regular blending routine. I would have to stop and start the other blenders and often left them running while I ran out to get the paper.
I can start this one, walk out to get the paper. When I get back, the smoothie is done and the blender is turned off - automatically.
I only gave it a four instead of a five because I don't know how long it will last. I see no signs of wear or slowing down, but other reviews complain. I just can't see what will wear out except the motor eventually. It just doesn't seem to work that hard, so I'm optimistic.
