  1. Purchased this, because after long years of use, the original jar got some cracks near where the handle meets the jar, and because the center part of the lid fell through during use and was rendered useless, the baby food I was making also had to be thrown out after that incident! This is exactly the same as the original one, Oster packaging and everything. Best price that I could find on the web.

  1. This blender really does blend well, it crushes ice and frozen fruits well and makes nice thick smoothies. It has a nice stir stick to help mix the ingredients as it blends. When I purchased the blender I liked the thought of the dispenser. However, it is a big pain to clean and put back together! The dispenser alone has 5 parts that have to align exactly to reassemble. If not put together perfectly then the dispenser doesn't work and you get a big mess. It's okay for a cheap smoothie maker, but next time I would upgrade.

  2. This is a great little machine. I use mine often during the warm weather months. It has power to spare and the measuring lines for either 2 or 4 servings make for perfect drinks. One slight flaw that is rather annoying-it's very easy to get the spout cap screwed on crooked and then it leaks all over the place. Always make sure first that it's not leaking. I would definitely recommend this product.

  3. Not happy with this purchase. It seemed to work ok the first time or two, but now it sounds like a whole construction crew is in the kitchen. It's so loud it scares the cat half to death!! The dispenser will work for water, but forget about anything much thicker. I did research this before I made the purchase (about a year ago?)and at that time, I swear there were more positive reviews of the product on Amazon...things that make you go "hmmm".

  4. I'm really impressed with this machine. I made a fruit smoothie (about 2 adult servings) first, and what I noticed first is how powerful the motor is! It ground up ice very nicely and mixed my fruitful drink into a frothy treat. The dispenser works very well, until you get to the very bottom of the batch. Then it flows slowly and you have to pour the rest out (which was probably about a half cup or so.) I'm glad I purchased this smoothie maker and would recommend it!

  5. I returned if after using it twice. For single serving protein drinks, I couldn't even get it to blend the powder well or crush the ice cubes. Maybe it works better for larger quantities. The "dispenser" was a joke; it took forever. On top of it all, it was a pain to clean. I returned it and picked up the Bella Cucina Rocket blender which is designed for one serving. Works MUCH better and is a breeze to clean.

  1. I agree with J Stone's review below. This blender has a blade-and-jar design (called wave action) that sucks the ingredients in for incredibly thorough blending, resulting in smooth, uniform consistency. It has a powerful (700-watt peak) motor that, combined with the wave action, yields excellent results. The motor carries a 3-year warranty. I use it for ice shakes and it crushes ice easily with no lumps left whatsoever. Its 48-oz glass jar secures easily on its sturdy base and is dishwasher friendly. Easy to clean and with no parts to assemble, this is my best blender to date.

  2. crushes ice beautifully--creates smooth creamy creations with almost anything. only downside--flat bottom makes it hard to catch everything (ex: chocolate chips stay in chunks at the bottom.)

  3. I'm planning to order a second one. We've had ours about 4 months, and we use it about 4 times a day, so having a second one would help a bit with washing the glass container. We love that it's glass.

The only minor problem that we had the first few days was learning to screw the container into the blade-holding bottom part. You have to get it screwed on level to seat it properly, or it can leak a bit when you tip it. Not a big deal, though, and we haven't had any problem since the second day or so, when we learned how to take the extra few seconds to prevent the problem.

    It's a solid product.

  4. We used this product for just 2 days and it stopped working.

  5. I was a little hesitant about buying another Hamilton Beach blender after having two previous blenders of this particular brand and being less than thrilled to say the least. This blender is not as attractive as some of the other blenders I've had, it's very plain looking (no fancy chrome finish or design). But DON'T judge a book by it's cover!

I've had the blender for about a week and so far, so good! This blender is quite powerful. The other day I filled it with 8 ice cubes and huge chunks of frozen mango to make a shake. This was a test for my new blender because none of the others would've been able to handle all of the ice and mango chunks and I would have killed the motor. Surprisingly, there were absolutely no chunks and everything was perfectly blended within 10-15 seconds on the high, frozen drink setting. Other blenders I've had left my drinks with huge chunks of ice and took forever to blend, leaving my frozen beverages watery.

The new "wave action" design promises that you will not need to mix the drink with a spoon because the blades will draw all ingrindients to the bottom of the container and back up again in a circular motion. However, with my frozen drinks I still found the need to give them a stir but not anywhere near as much as I had to with my old blenders.

I love the fact that the blender is glass (as plastic can develop a strange smell and easily stain) and it can be put in the dishwasher. I even put the blades in the dishwasher though the directions said not to and have not had a problem. The glass container is also much bigger than any of the other blenders I've had which is also a huge plus.

With other blenders, I did not notice any real difference between the power settings. But with the Power Plus Blender, there is a noticable difference in the speed and power of the different settings.

Great blender, very powerful, and certainly worth the price. The only reason I did not give this product 5 stars is because there are still some times when I have to give my drinks a quick stir despite the product's "wave action" design.

  1. This blender jar is lightweight and has an extra cup of volume compared with the glass one that it's replacing. I love it!

One thing, though, is that the picture doesn't reflect the actual product - it's just the jar, no cover is included. For me, that wasn't a problem because I still have the top from the glass jar it's replacing. But if you're in the market for a jar with a top, you'll have to buy the top separately.

  1. I have both a KA stand mixer and KA dishwasher and love both of them. I didn't mind paying a premium for the KA name on a blender, but what a disappointment!

    The good:
The profile is esthetically pleasing. While the glass (that's very good) container seems a little small, it's just fine for most blending tasks. You won't want to make margaritas for a crowd (or ANY margaritas for that matter), but for one or two servings, it's generous. The squatty wide-mouth shape is very nice for cleaning and scooping.

    The bad:
It's not very satisfactory for chopping hard items--it just rounds the edges of Parmesan cheese and ice chunks.

    The ugly:
The little round things that secure the blender to the base come off REALLY easily--I've only used this blender four times, and three of the little round things have come off.

The only up sides are the shape, size and the glass container, but it's very expensive for a piece of kitchen sculpture. The KitchenAid name is very misleading on this particular appliance. Not recommended

  2. I bought this item because of other Kitchen Aid products I've used in the past and liked. It did not live up to my expectations. It runs very well but if you don't hold the bottom of the blender when you remove the jar, you end up with your food all over the floor. I wash it immediately after every use with warm soapy water, yet the base is now stuck and I can no longer remove it. Imagine having to tip over the entire blender, motor and all, to pour out the contents.

Years ago I had an inexpensive Sears blender that was wonderful. I used it all the time until it wore out. In comparison, I rarely use this one which has many more settings because it is such a chore to use. I'm one to return items that don't work. Unfortunately, it took me awhile to use this the first time and because it was Kitchen Aid, I thought I was doing something wrong. I wish I would have returned it. Now I'm thinking about throwing it out, which will be hard to do as it works, and buying one that I will actually use like my old cheap but easy to use blender.

  3. I've made one smoothie per day for two years and mine is still working fine. The key is in what ingredients you use and how much stress they put on the machine. In my case it's eight ounces of yogurt, one half fresh banana, 3oz of frozen blueberries, one scoop of protein powder, and a couple of ice cubes. The ice cubes are added last and have never created a problem. Perfect smoothie every time without any stirring. I like it enough to have ordered a spare cutter blade assembly and coupler, but have not needed them yet.
For those with more demanding tasks, such as making their own peanut butter, grinding grains, heating soup, etc, I would suggest you spend the extra three hundred dollars to get the Vita-Mix. It will do all these things while drawing enough power to dim your lights and making enough noise to frighten your pets.

  4. I bought this blender because I love my KichenAid Mixer. The KitchenAid Blender is middle of the road. I'm afraid I won't ever know what the best blender for smoothies would be, since I already bought this one.

If you have ever had a cheep blender, you will know that they have weak motors, a plastic jar that will crack and leaky gaskets. The KitchenAid has a much more powerful motor, and a glass jar, but it strains to chop ice. I think it was designed for ice, since one of the pictures for this model shows the jar full of ice.

When we want to chop ice, we found that if you first pour in at least two cups of liquid, then add the ice it works fine. Then add your fruit and other items and you have your smoothie. It often gets jammed up and I have to stir or add more liquid to get it moving again.

  5. A great blender for a while with weekly use...but it wasn't long before a tooth broke off the black coupler that drives the blade. Soon after, another tooth broke off and now it doesn't spin the blade properly. A weak link in a blender that is otherwise very good. I do not recommend as this part should have been made stronger.

  1. I read previous reviews on this item about how LOUD it is. And I thought, well, all blenders are annoyingly loud. Yes, it is loud, but man does it do the job. Two settings; GO ALL THE WAY and PULSE. That's all you need. None of this liquify, blend, whip, puree, blah blah blah. I never did see a difference in anything I whipped versus pureed! Thought I was doing something wrong, now I know it's just a bunch of bologne! The copper looks great on my counter too, with my other copper accents in the kitchen!

  2. This blender is the first which does everything the appliance is supposed to do. I have never placed much value in our previous blenders or smoothy makers. This blender has only an on/off/pulse switch, no integrated stir stick or any other special "features". Manufacturers apparently add these gimmicks to try to make you think their blender is better or more functional than the sorry one currently sitting on the counter.

This blender not only does the job, it is very fast and efficient. It turns 3/4 cup of solid ice cubes into snow with a single pulse. No beating, smacking or shaking needed. Ice cream shakes take less than a minute even with carmel or fudge added.

In just a few weeks we have gotten more value from this machine than any we have previously owned. If it burned up tomorrow, I would buy another. Excellent product. For me this product sets the standard for 5 star ratings.

  3. I had read some reviews of this product under the stainless steel model. People said it was loud. I thought, of course it's loud, all blenders are loud. Received it today. Sounds like a jet engine is taking off in my kitchen. Yeah, that loud. The kids had their hands clamped over their ears and my husband and I were screaming over the noise. And I hadn't even added the ice yet! I got a large bath towel to wrap around the base and it muffled the sound somewhat, but I'm pretty sure I have permanent hearing loss.

The copper is beautiful and it chopped the ice without struggling, but wow. SO LOUD!

  4. This blender looks beautiful, love the copper look.
It really fit well, with the things in my kitchen, and looked great.

In less than 5 days, the coupler that connected to the blade, sheared off.

It seems that it is held together by glue. My old Commercial blender has been in operation, for 10 years now, and still works - just a bit tired.

We ordered the Cuisinart Stainless 600 Watt blender, hope it works better, and lasts longer than this.

If you are interested in the copper model, look for the comments, under the chrome version. I missed the negative comments there, until I had the failure.

  5. We have now owned this for 2 years, and it works just as well as it did the first day. From Gazpacho to milkshakes this is a fabulous blender. ( And I have used many different syles). Well worth the money!

All be it, I just pulled this beautiful piece of machinery out of the box today...but it is incredible! All it promises to be and more. Right down to the manual, this is well worth it's price, and we even had to pay shipping to Alaska! It's heavy duty all metal construction really shows through. So much better than some of the cheap plastic imitators we owned before! =) It even has some really great recipes included with it. Just made a perfect batch of strawberry margaritas with real frozen berries, perfect consistency! I will definitely keep you updated as time goes by and I get to try it out on soups and milkshakes, mousses and dips!

  1. Like others have said, this blender just randomly dies and will not even turn on anymore. For me it happened just after the one year mark so no warranty return for me. And I used it maybe once a week at the most. Mine was a gift and I wish I would have read the reviews before I opened it. Too late now...

  2. I've had two or three reliable Oster blenders in 30+ years, and this one was a piece of junk. I blended a smoothie, and it would not shut off, so I had to pull the plug. When I plugged it back in, it wouldn't turn on.

This didn't seem to have the power of a 1,000 watt blender, as noted on the box. I wasn't surprised to see 600 watts marked on the bottom of the blender. Don't they call that false advertising?

  3. After only a month of having this product, the all metal drive snapped in half. In truth the all metal drive is a metal cap with a rubber gasket underneath. We purchased this blender to replace our oster beehive which had the exact thing break after 2 years. This only lasted for 29 days.

  4. Okay, it's fast. :) And the results were a very smooth mixture...

Sadly, when taking the motor unit out of the box, you could feel the motor inside go up and down if you turned the main part upside down and back.

Worse, when actually using this thing, the motor sounds wrong. It's loud, that's not the problem, but the whir noise is unevenly pitched.

Now I've only used this thing in manual mode; no pre-set modes that turn the blades backwards and forwards at various speeds; just "maximum" or even holding down "max pulse".

Then I came here to read peoples' glowing reviews. Glowing with anger, it seems. I've a feeling this unit is going to peter out within a month. Even the 400 watt puny Oster model I had prior to this one didn't sound like a duck choking on tootsie roll!

I'm going to risk keeping it. I mean, it's only money and the way it's built I'm going to expect the blade to fly off and slash my wrist one day and claim "I did it in self defense, because that meanie of an owner wanted to return me because he figured it out I'm a poorly made piece of junk!"

  5. I have had a Vita-Max for almost 7 years now. While the Vita-Mix can't be beat power wise it has some very important weaknesses. First it is very expensive. I paid almost $600 for mine. Second, if you use protein poweder in it you have to not only rinse it immediately, you have to blend water in it to clean the protein powder grit out of it so that it doesn't destroy the blade assembly. I have went through three blade assemblies in the last 7 years. This with following their directions for blending water in it after using it. Third, the plastic (polycarbonate) containers crack at the bracing points. I have went through 8 containers in 7 Years.

I bought the Oster Fusion because I wanted a simple blender for blended drinks and the like and I didn't want to have to worry about destroying the blade assembly. I have had the Oster Fusion for nearly 4 months now and I still love it. It is powerful, easy to use, great blender container and wonderful rubber seal lid. I have made not only blended coffee drinks, smoothies, milk shakes, slurpies, but have also made salsa, apple sauce, wheat berry pancakes and more in it and it works wonderfully. I am especially impressed with the blenders ability to chop things like salsa and applesauce in to consistent size peices. Not even my Vita-Mix could do that.

The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because you can't reverse the blender yourself, reversing is only done in the two pre-programmed modes. I would like to have a rocker switch that I could move back and forth to reverse and then forward the blades myself. The preprogrammed cycles work great for me. If you drop in a whole tomato or something that can't get down in to the blades of the semi-funnel shaped blender container then it isn't going to be able to blend it. I am for peices that are 1 to 1-1/2-inches in size and I have never had a problem.

As for blending drinks with ice, the instructions say to put the liquid in first and then the ice or ice like stuff (frozen fruit, etc.) I have no issues with this not working. In fact here are two recipes for you.

    Ice-Cream Free Strawberry Milk Shake

2 Cups of Frozen Strawberries, thawed for 30 minutes
    1-1/2 cups of Milk
1/2 Cup of Half and Half or Whole Milk
    4 Packets of Equal
    1 Tablespoon of Lime Juice

Place all of the liquids in to the blender container and then add the frozen berries. You want to thaw the frozen berries for about 30 minutes so that they aren't rock hard but still frozen. Use the pre-programmed Frozen Drinks and Shakes mode. As test to see if the berries are frozen but soft enough I use a meat mallet on them. If they can be smashed without a lot of hard heavy pounding they are ready. The frozen berries provides the freezing component to make the shake. It is also best to use really nice ripe berries. We buy berries each year when they are at their peak, prep and freeze them ourselves.

    Salsa

2 whole fresh tomatoes (garden fresh are best, but use the best you can get)
1 Jalapeno, seeded and stem removed
1 Small/Medium Can Whole Green Chilies, Drained
1 Can of Diced Tomatoes with Chilies
    3 Tablespoons Lime Juice
    1/4 Cup Cilantro
1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt (use 1/2 as much or to taste for table salt)
1/4 Medium Red Onion, cut in to chunks
    2 Cloves Garlic

Core the tomatoes and cut them in to 1 to 1-1/2-inch pieces and place them in the blender container. Seed and stem the jalapeno and cut in to 1/4's. Add the can of whole green chilies after you drain them. Use the Food Chop mode and then empty the blender container in to a large bowl. Add the canned tomatoes, cilantro, salt, lime juice, garlic and onion in to the blender container and use the Food Chop mode. Add this to the bowl, mix well and then taste. Adjust salt as needed. You can also add some black pepper if you wish.

As for other reviews, people need to understand that nothing made by man or women is perfect. You will (more often now-a-days then in times past) get a lemon, this is the price we pay for being able to get technology at rock bottom prices. Even at $500 plus the Vita-Mix isn't perfect either. Sometimes I think people either don't follow directions or have very un-real expectations. I love my Oster Fusion and I am not sorry I bought it.

  1. A friend of mine introduced me to this blender and I really enjoyed it. I do not make many smoothies but this blender does make great daiquiries and milk shakes.

  2. I only used this a couple times before the handle on the pour spout broke off. Then I started finding small pieces of plastic in my smoothies - the base was starting to shred! So I just threw it in the trash. I would NOT recommend this item!

  3. This unit is difficult to clean, mostly because of the ridiculous pour spout. It really serves no purpose other than making things difficult. I find it quite easy to lift the jar and pour the contents as you would with a gallon of milk or any beverage. Also, the plastic base that attaches to the jar absorbs the smell of everything you blend and cant start to smell foul after only a few uses. I received this item as a gift but if I were in the market for a smoothie maker I would go for a regular blender with no pour spout and one that's made with better materials. Probably a Waring blender or something of the sort.

  4. I've been through 2 of these BTB smoothie makers. The last one left me with a mess of ingredients in the pitcher....and no smoothie. Spend a little morey and get a durable machine!

  5. don't buy it. this thing fell apart after two uses. the motor started smoking and then it leaked. we did not abuse it, just mixed together a banana, some yogurt and a few strawberries with non-fat milk. it certainly should have handled these ingredients quite easily. very disapointed in the quality. we threw it out and bought a real one.
