1 comments about Hamilton Beach 51101B Single-Serve Blender with Travel Lid, Black.
- I was looking for an inexpensive small personal blender that was powerful, easy to use, and could blend a perfect smoothie. I did a lot of research and looked into about a dozen other brands including the famed "Magic Bullet". What I found out was that not all personal blenders are made equal. The "Magic Bullet" didn't get very good reviews even though it is by far the most popular. After all my intense research, I settled on this one... The Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. Here's the scoop on what makes this surprising blender the "cream of the crop" :)
Pros:
-Simple and easy to use
-Easy to Clean
-Powerful enough to chop frozen fruits (and probably ice too)
-Pulse button allows you more control because you can start or stop it.
-Seems very sturdy and only has 3 parts to it. (lid, glass, and base)
-This thing is freaking cheap... got mine for $15.
-Blends Smoothies perfectly with no unchopped pieces of fruit.
-Power cord can be tucked in and wrapped around bottom of base for storage.
Cons:
-Emits a slight 'burnt oil' odor while it is in operation... but it's not as bad as it sounds.
-The Lid seems kind of flimsy.
Conclusion:
At $15 this little blender is not only a bargain, it gets the job done and does it well! In fact, it works just as well as my friend's personal blender which costs more than twice the amount I spent on this one. The elegance and simplicity of the design is also to be admired. The plastic blending container also doubles as a travel mug and the Lid to it doubles as a sipping lid when used as a travel mug. It's a nice surprise to see a product in which you can see that they put a lot of thought into it's design. It's positive aspects greatly outshine the few negatives... especially when considering the price. So if you need an amazing blender but you're on a budget, pick this one up and never look back! By the way, this thing is also available elsewhere... like "Wally World" and "Target" ...and at the same low price :)

- The motor is underpowered, isn't really able to crush ice very well or make a smoothie without a lot of effort / cavitating / stop-and-start on my part. Also, if I run it for more than a minute or so (blender or food processor), the motor starts to smell a bit like it's going to burn out (this was from the very first time I used it).
It works "just okay", and I'm just waiting for it to burn up so I can get something better.
- Cuisinart is of course a well-known reputable brand, which was one of the primary reasons for purchasing this product. The other main one was the dual combo of the blender and food processor. Both are good-sized and very functional. The blade in the blender is a bit small and therefore cannot blend smaller quantities of liquid, which was a little frustrating, but I used the food processor instead and it worked fine. Overall, great price and value and allows for not having to store two large appliances in a small kitchen.
- We bought this product because of the large carafe and the food processor attachment. The plastic 'chrome' body of the unit looked pretty 'cheap', but was not a big issue for us. We made a batch of frozen drinks and it did a great job. When we went to make the 2nd batch the motor would not run. The unit was receiving power but the motor didn't run. Based on the reviews, I guess I'm not the only one with this problem.
- This Cuisinart was a great gift for my cousin.
She did really enjoy it and it is very happy with it.
A great product.
Thank you.
- This blender looks good but.... I bought it primarily for smoothies, and the processor, boasted a strong amp/hp motor. The first unit burned out the motor with a 3/4 full container of mix after the third use. I contacted amazon who referred me to CUISINART, their rep. told me to send it in for repair (3 weeks after purchase) and give them a credit card for shipping charges and repair charges, she was not surprised it quit. So I again called Amazon and was answered by their India branch, and filed a complaint, they handled it by sending me a new unit and a call tag from UPS (great service). The second blender is working fine, but don't be impressed by its Large Chrome Plated Plastic Base and large container size, the motor is not capable of handling large loads and will overheat. I suspect this unit will not last long and I will have to purchase a Vita-Mix or a unit with a larger motor. I would not buy again, CUISINART, like too many, has given it up to china, God help the USA. Too many USA based companies continue to show that they owe nothing to the USA for product quality, loyalty and have sold out their consumers for much larger profits by having products made in china and charge the same price as if it were made it the U.S.

- I've been using this now for awhile, and am very pleased with it. I bought it for making smoothies. I've been pretty hard on it. Sometimes it even smells hot, but it keeps on going. A great little blender.
- This little stick blender is great! It's a pro at chopping hard foods. My husband uses it daily to make smoothies with ice and I use it to grind carrots and nuts for sauces and salsas. Clean up is real easy -- just rinse under cold water. Easy to store too, I just stick it in the kitchen drawer. No more hauling out the big clunky blender to puree soups or chutneys.
- I use this blender to mix protein shakes before and sometimes after workouts, and it really does a good job of blending the powder and milk in a short amount of time.
- I was hesitant to buy this model because it was so inexpensive I thought it might be flimsy or lacking power compared to some of the others I was considering, but the price was so good I couldn't resist. I'm glad, because it's great. So far I've used it for scrambling eggs (nice & fluffy) and making smoothies. Very solid, easy as heck to clean, and more powerful than I expected.
- Works great! Powerful motor blends the thickest shakes with little effort. I usually use the low setting so the shake does not become "frothy".

5 comments about Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Chrome.
- While this blender may look pretty on your counter-top, that's about all it's good for. Nice retro styling from Oster but the product is useless, just like their toaster-oven. I have owned this door stop for over a year. It will only blend something that is completely liquid. Never mind smoothies or sauces, etc. I end up blending it myself with a spoon or just dealing with huge chunks. It is also extremely loud. I am still on the hunt for a good working blender at a reasonable price. This isn't it and I'll never buy another Oster product.
- My previous Oster Beehive blender sadly broke down after almost 10 yrs, so I replaced it with this one which seems to closely resemble it. I have used it so far only to make smoothies and they turn out almost as good as before.
The main thing I dislike about this model is the speed. The low speed is stronger than the low of my old blender. It tends to splatter the liquid which ends up coating up the sides and lid (causing some waste, more cleanup and not as thorough blending of ingredients) and also cause air pockets right above the blades. So I've had to alter my smoothie technique a little:
- Pulse to blend.
- Stop and let the liquid settle back down and the air bubble to
come out. Maybe scrape down the sides.
- Repeat.
Also, the switch must be held down to continuously blend on 'low'. My previous blender had a round dial control with low and high continuous speeds and I miss that simple feature.
The noise is a little louder...about equivalent to the high speed on my previous blender.
- Does no one make a blender that will last over a year anymore? Technically, I should wait a year to write this reveiw. I've had it a few months so far and it's not a bad blender. I've done smoothies, gazpacho and pesto with no issues. I like that the mechanics of the blender are metal and that the pitcher is glass. It's powerful and works well.
- I have been looking for a new blender for a long time. I have had bad luck with other blenders burning out or not doing the job I expected. I can say without a doubt that this is the best blender I have every owned. Ice is blended in a matter of seconds. When making smoothies I rarely need to stir the ingredients to get the blender to continue doing its job. This blender was recommended to me by a colleague and I highly recommend it you!
- Have used this bender a number of times and it works wonderfully. Lots of power, crushes ice in no time. It is a little loud, but as long as it does it's job that is not a problem for me.

- Had this a month and if it holds up over time I'd say it's the best kitchen item I've bought in years. Makes smoothies incredibly easy - frozen strawberries get blended instantly without effort. If the unit kicks out in less than two years I'll be back with a caution, but so far I couldn't be more pleased.
- I love this product. I thought that I was just the worst smoothy maker around, but turns out it was my blender. I got this hand held and I now make the best smoothies! I use it to puree, blend mix, etc. I just love it. I bought two more to give as presents and plan on buying one more for my mom!
- I'm really surprised to see the negative reviews. We use the blender several times a day and the chopper several times a week. We love it. We've had several other immersion blenders and mini choppers and this one out-performs all of them. I have absolutely no complaints about it.
- First, the plastic on the chopper bowl lid broke while I was trying to grate cheese (according to the directions). And then, after I replaced it (it took them 2 tries to ship out the correct part), something in the motor stopped working so that none of the attachments rotate at all (the motor is on though). This was a gift so I don't have a receipt. Cuisinart will not replace the motor under the warranty. Looking for a different brand now. It looks like it'll be sturdy, but it is not!
- I bought two of these from a dept store approx 6 months ago. One for me to replace a Braun that the blender cup housing had cracked (after 4 years and countless smoothies) and one for my mother who listened to me rave about these things for making smoothies much easier than traditional blenders. The motor failed on both of ours within weeks of each other. Thank god I still had the Braun, but only with the stick attachement that works flawlessly still. Im shopping for another one right now, but I had to stop for a second to throw this hunk of trash under the bus where it belongs. Dont do it.

- I keep chewing up my blender gaskets. Could not find in any stores, but went online and there they were. Ordered and was shipped the next day. I know have spares and no longer worry about doing my blending. Great response time. Thanks
- alternate title: blender pron
see also: drill breakfast
some would say "review replacement gaskets?" but then i would tell them "yeh, amazon keeps emailing me about it so i guess i better, also im waiting for pizza"
when you blow out yr blender motor, or if you dont have one, get a hex head bit from any hardware store, take in the blade to get a snug fit, put on drill (adjustable is preferred but not as fun) voila! gnarly blender.
also, really want to impress her? use mason jars instead of the played out pitcher
the gaskets work awesome
- There's not much that you can say about gaskets, accept that these are great quality for the price.
- The product was great...the shipping costs were a little excessive compared to what was really spent on shipping...
- Other sets include 2 rings for a slightly higher price. Those rings are made with a smoother material and are thicker and will withstand a lot of use and even abuse.
This 3 pack is made of a very cheap material. They work, but I don't expect them to last very long. I'd rather pay more for solid goods that don't feel cheap and will withstand some average use.

- Bought this a while ago to blend up my baby's food. This is very good for small portions of food compared to those regular food processor (i've sold it since getting this blender). Cleans easily too (be sure to do so straight after use). Definitely worth every dime.
- we got this immersion blender because of the price point and we wanted one for soups and baby food. we're very pleased with this blender. it works really well for baby food and is able to blend stuff to the right consistency for our 6 month old baby. our only complaint with it is that after a while your finger hurts holding the "engage" button, as noted by someone else.
other than that one complaint, great immersion blender for twice the price.
- Don't expect more than basic immersion blender functions! It's one of my favorite gadgets in my kitchen. I use it for pureeing for soups, scrambling larger amounts of eggs so they're light and fluffy, mixing puddings and jello, whipped cream, some less chunky smoothies. I occasionally do mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, but after butter, milk and whatever other stuff is added and in a deep bowl or can be a mess. Lots of uses!
However, don't expect it to do more hard core kitchen things and replace a blender and/or food processor. It doesn't (effectively IMO) mash up some types of big, chunky fruit especially frozen, chop nuts, certainly not ice! For that stuff you're going to need to spend more than $12.99 and get a wazoo style, more powerful and maybe with attachments.
Serious bang for your buck though! I've had mine for 2 years and have used it a lot!
- Do not use this blender to chop ice cubes. I tried and it shorted out the motor, tripping the circuit breakers in my house, and does so every time it is plugged in. Works great at blending thin items like soup and protein shakes, but don't use it for thicker items like milk shakes.
- My wife found this item handy and very useful. It does the job perfectly... It could have been even better if the bottom portion be removable. That would have made me give a perfect 5 star.

- My brother-in-law in Alaska has one of these and it ROCKS. I just saw this high-powered blender at willitblend (dot com) and iwantmymancave (dot com) where they have a fun video of what this monster can blend up (you would not believe until you see it). The Blendtec is one of the man cave prizes.
Gotta get one for my man cave!
- We saw the demo at Costco and were impressed. Yes, it's loud but so is any blender! It has amazing power and we use it daily for "green smoothies." Our normal blender couldn't chop up the greens effectively. It's super convenient and cleans up very easily -- a key feature for me.
One of the pitches was that this can also replace your juicer, but not so fast. The apple juice we made was largely froth so we'll stick to our juicer for juice, and this for everything else. Recommended.
- For the most part I am a healthy eater but this is going to bring me to the next level. I was in Costco and saw a demo of the total blender and was very impressed. I knew it could be returned if not satisfied. I am tight with my money and usually do not drop almost $400 without some planning. Purchasing it at Costco gave an extended warrantee of 7 years. I make at least one fruit smoothie and veggie juice per day. One of my main concerns was that it would just be a little better than my old $50 blender but there is no comparison. It takes seeds, carrots and whatever you put in it into liquid. Today's creations were a chilled broccoli juice and a power fruit smoothie made from a mix of fruit I grabbed out of the fridge and protein mix. I have been showing it off to my friends and already have a few stopping by on a weekly basis with jugs to be filled.
- This blender really will blend just about anything to whatever consistency you might desire. In my case I use it mostly for beverages, making smoothies from powdered and fresh ingredients. The preprogrammed buttons are handy, but you will find from time to time you may have to use `Pulse'. The blender is loud, though no more so than the one it replaced, a 70's vintage Hamilton Beech. Clearly you're not going to keep a conversation going or be able to hear a TV/Radio while this is running. If you've ever visted Jamba Juice or Starbucks you've heard Blendtec's commercial blenders at work, this blender is basically a consumer version of those blenders. Cleaning is easy as the carafe is one piece. You will have to fully clean the sides as the rapid mixing action slings the contents over the entire inside surface. I have yet to have it not blend everything I toss in it, even things one might not think of. And as one might imagine, you just have to try SOMETHING off the wall considering their `Will it Blend' ads. In my case, I gave it the easy chore of making a smoothie out of a hamburger, which it did with ease once the burger patty and buns had enough time in the blades. I did have to add some additional ketchup, mayo and cheese sauce to get the liquid level high enough do make more than a mashed paste but then what do you expect from a mere hamburger. : )
- I bought a Vitamix for my mother 2 years ago for her birthday.
She loved it. She uses it daily to make whole juice drinks every morning. She would blend celery, grapes, apples, pineapples, tomatoes, cucumbers, peaches, and many other fruits or vegetables. And the result is simply great. You can't taste any pits or skins left in the drink; every little bit of ingredients are blended into fine juice for your enjoyment and fast digestion.
As a person grows older, the amount of enzymes in the stomach is lost. Therefore the ability to digest food is reduced dramatically. By drinking whole juice, the natural enzymes in the fruit, in the skin of the fruit, are blended and broken down for easy digestion.
Anyway, I almost forgot this review is for Blentec.
Well, after I got the Blentec (at a Sam's Club demo promotion), the price is actually about the same as being offered at Amazon.com (after tax). With that being almost the same, I just bought it on the spot and I will never regret that I did.
I have to say that the final blended results are just the same if not better than Vitamix.
But I want to point out a few significant advantages of this one.
1. The unit is smaller for storage and handling when you need to take it out to use. As for us, since we use it daily, it just sits under the countertop cabinets (snug fit), just about under 1 inch of room left when you push it in and out.
2. The recessed touch buttons are just amazing. They are much easier to clean than anything I have seen on the market, including Vitamix. If you like to keep things clean, this is the one to get. You will always drop some juice or fruits on the mixer base and if it gets between the knobs or buttons in the traditional blender, you know how hard that is to clean. With Blendtec, that problem is gone once and for all. This is actually one of the main reasons I bought the Blendtec.
3. The 6 button with different time settings. They are also great. Sometimes, you don't have a recipe and you just need to make something quick, but you don't know how long you should blend it for; well, the timer takes care of that question. This is another real deal breaker for me for the $400 damage.
4. Lightweight and easy to clean. We make it a habbit to clean right away after each use. Some reviewers said it's difficult to clean; well, because they left the thing on the counter all night after using it. Try that with any blender, it will be difficult to clean. It's not a fair review to any blender in that regard.
A note on noise: it is very loud, but not to the point where you need a ear plug. It does give out a few more dB than the Vitamix, I think by design, they can use some sound blocker inside the base enclosure, but while doing that, it would block the heat ventilation results and make the unit too hot to operate or break prematurely due to heat issues. I agree with Blendtec's design to allow maximum ventilation over sound reduction. Besides, we don't use it all the time so that it would cause your neighbors to complain.
All in all, it gets a 5-star from me because it deserves the rating.

- Helping Mom to downsize and came across this little red blender. Thought I'd bring it home and give it a try but felt certain I would not like it. I assumed it would be super noisy like most small appliances are. But it is NOT noisy and dang it does an excellent job of blending stuff. I love it!! Easy to clean too. Mine does not appear to have the "drink from" lid though so maybe that feature came on later models. Same model number though.
