5 comments about Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender.
- Having been a long time user of a similar product (Moulinex Turbo) for 8 years, my old unit had seen better days and was in need of replacing. So, I made some assumptions about the product based on my experience with my other Cuisinart products and purchased the CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. Much to my dismay, the Cuisinart hand blender performs nowhere nearly as well as the Moulinex did the day I threw it away. The Cuisinart has a blade that is not sharpened. Consequently, it doesn't cut up food (like blueberries, for instance) very well. It just sort of beats stuff to a pulp, quite literally, and doesn't puree them into liquid. It also has a system of holes around the perimeter of the blade guard that just get clogged up.
- I owned a Braun Miniprimer Plus Hand Blender, with variable speeds and broad stainless steel housing for the blades. I had it for years and worked great until the motor finally gave up, but it's no longer available. I purchased the Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. It is supposed to have two speeds, but really hard to tell the difference and either button needs to be held down very firmly. I always have to use it at high speed and then takes a long time to completely blend. So far I have only used it for light liquids such as protein drinks, sometimes containing a cut-up banana. It can't chop any firmer fruits or vegetables.
It also cannot stand. The flimsy plastic housing for the blades has 3 little knobs on which this top-heavy blender is supposed to stand. This morning I stood it upright in its two-cup plastic container and it immediately fell over, splashing protein drink everywhere, which then ran under my coffee maker, my very heavy mixer and several cannisters. I am thankful I wasn't trying to blend hot soup on the stove.
If you aren't prepared to lay it on its side when not firmly holding it and the container its in, this blender may not be for you, either.
- I had this hand blender when it came with the stainless steel beaker cup (which I did keep), the plastic beaker, lid, chopper & 3 blades. I loved all the gadgets & gizmos it came with. It was very nice to start, but once I started chopping fresh fruits...BOOM! --Sounded like a gun went off! It died. Maybe they are different now? hmmm...sounds like the motor hasn't improved too much though.
I'll just stick with Cuisenart's bar blender.
- I bought the Cuisinart Immersion blender a year and a half ago, and used it 2-3 times a week with passable (if noisy and slighly lumpy) results, until it died last week. I was pleased with my Cuisnart until I replaced it with the KitchenAid Immersion blender. This thing ROCKS. It's quieter, twice as powerful (check the amps!), has nine speeds AND a detachable blade arm for easy, submersable, cleanup. Best of all, it leaves no lumps. You can taste the difference!
- What a useful little blender/chopper! Much better than the old electric hand blender I used to own. I had the kind with two "beaters" that would spin. The mixer would often cause liquids to spray. The cuisinart csb-33 hand mixer's design prevents liquids from spraying and it's very easy to clean. Just a quick rinse under in some hot soapy water is all it needs.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone.

4 comments about Oster BRLY07-Z00 600-Watt Fusion Blender.
- I wanted a blender to make protein smoothie shakes and it does the job. As a novice smoothie maker, I didn't realize how much trouble it is to blend frozen strawberries. I found defrosting the strawberries a little before putting into the blender helpful. Otherwise, my husband and I love it.
- I used this to blend smoothies about 4-5 times per week. I bought it thinking the automatic smoothie feature was going to make it easier to blend -- it didn't. The smoothie "program" runs on low speed forward, then reverse, then faster forward, then reverse, then high speed for a while. It frequently created an airspace beneath the smoothie ingredients so it could blend at high speed like crazy without really mixing anything. That meant I always had to monitor it to see if I needed to stop it and push the ingredients down, so it didn't really make it any easier.
After six months, it stopped working. It wouldn't come on. It felt like it was the keypad that stopped working because the ON key didn't "click" right when I pushed it, like the other keys did. The keypad is a smooth membrane and food can't get into it, so that wasn't the problem.
I tossed it out. It was probably under warranty but I didn't have a desire to pay for shipping it to Oster for repair. I replaced it with this: Villaware Pro Infinity Blender V001-43100. Have only used it a few weeks but I like it MUCH better.
- I didn't know my old blender was so lame until I got this one. We make protein smoothies every day, and this blends all the ingredients and crushes the ice on 1/4 of the time of my old blender.
- I called Oster (866-588-1141) on 5/4/2008. They have informed me that they do NOT sell any 1000 Watt Oster Fusion Blender. Not sure where this 1000 W is coming from, Oster declines that they have one!! All fusion blenders are 600 W, which is approximately 0.8 HP.

- The cutter assembly as stated does not fit the model they said it would. Had to return at my expense. They stated I would have to buy a new blender because they can't get the correct part. Not happy!!!!!
- This is a great replacement for broken blenders witch is rarely seen on kitchen aid blenders. My KitchenAid coupling broke so i bought the coupling and the cutter blader just to get new parts on both of this items, the installation was easy, and now my KitchenAid blender works like new!

- I love this little thing. So compact. I never need to use my big blender now. (I never need to make more than just for myself) I just stick the cup, lid and blade right into the dishwasher. No mess.
- This blender is just right. My husband and I make smoothies five days a week for breakfast. The blender can not handle chopping ice but that is fine with my husband and i becasue we like our smoothies thicker and chopped ice waters the smoothies down. Instead we just put come ice cubes in it and give the mug a good shake or two. Come out great.
- if what you want is no muss, no fuss, and the perfect tool for the job, then this is the smoothie and frappachino maker for you. i have used mine at least 2x daily for months now. the only issue is that the gasket has come loose a couple of times, but hardly a major issue since it so simple to gently press it into place again that it only seems worthy of mentioning to dispell the notion that this is a major defect or design flaw. i've had zero leaks and zero mishaps. i love the speed and ease with which it chews through ice and frozen fruit, making yummy drinks. the huge plus is that this really isn't noisy at all. this is so much better than the magic bullet, so if you're on the fence, give it a try.
- I bought this blender a few years ago to make smoothies with on a daily basis. I've used it nearly every day since. It's held up beautifully. The only thing that's worn out since buying it was the rubber ring that fits inside the blade cap. Even without the rubber seal, I've never had any problems with messy leaks. This blender is quick and easy and you can grab the final product and go. You don't have to deal with using a big blender for making food for just one. It's less to clean up too. It's small so it fits conveniently on the countertop. I can't praise this product enough. I love it and couldn't live without it.
- After trying another personal blender and having some minor issues, I thought I'd try a new brand, and picked this one up. The end assessment: as cheap as it is, it's not worth your money. I highly recommend you pick a different brand.
Pros:
1) When I made shakes in it with crushed ice, it crushed the ice fairly well. (But see #1 below)
Cons:
1) Flimsy materials: I have only had this blender for *2 months,* and already the plastic cup is cracking from the pressure of blending ice in it. These small hairline cracks are now seeping beads of liquid out of them. Soon they'll get larger and the blender will be completely unusable. A blender that can't handle ice shouldn't be called a blender.
2) Heavy: The base is surprisingly heavy and wide in circumference; it would not make for a light and easy travel blender if you are looking for something to take on trips.
3) Stupidly designed: The design is just nonsensical. Though not described in the product description or in most of these reviews, the way this product works is that you have to fill the blender's mug as you would fill any normal cup, then put on the top (which contains the blender wheel), and then TURN THE MUG UPSIDE DOWN to attach it to the blender. Naturally, this can cause any number of mishaps--if the seal isn't quite tight enough, you and the blender are going to get covered in whatever you're blending. Or, it could just fall off if you turn it over and it's not tight enough. Plus, after blending, when you turn the cup back upright to actually open it and drink your concoction, a great majority of your mix sticks to the wheel on the top. This means you lose a good portion of your drink.
4) Can't add in ingredients once you close it: Finally, this design doesn't allow you to easily or non-messily add extra ingredients in midway. So for example, if you want to blend ice and liquid first, and then add fruit or whatever, it's a problem in a way it wouldn't be for normally upright blenders.

5 comments about Cuisinart SPB-7BCH SmartPower 7-Speed Electronic Blender, Black Chrome.
- looks like I might have bought the last reviewers blender!!
I got mine at good will for .. yes.. $1!!!!
thankyou! work great for the price I paid.
- In my humble opinion, most of blenders are not great. The motors are not powerful to chop through heavy amounts ice and frozen fruit. I've burned through a couple of cheap Hamilton Beach ones.
Use your head. You may need to pulse it a few time to shave the frozen stuff down. Or you can slowly add ice after you blended the other igredients. Also, you should look at the recipe book. The recipe book gives you hints on how to "layer" the ingredients.I made some awesome hummus by following their directions.
If you are doing heavy blending work with ice, you may want to break down and buy a professional unit. I have heard some of the high end Warings fit the bill.
- The blender was only adequate until it burned up.
The food processor was slow and noisy very unlike a real cuisinart
I am so glad it cooked I now have an excuse to buy something real
Cuisinart SPB-7PK SmartPower 40-Ounce 7-Speed Electronic Blender, Pink
- Fortunately I won't have to live with the cheap looks of this pitiful appliance any longer! I thought I was taking care not to overheat the motor, always processing small amounts for short periods of time, but in less than 2 years of very light use (at a house I only visit on summer weekends) the SmartPower Blender quit working right in the middle of a job. No smoke, no smell, no grinding noises, no signs of trouble... I let it rest as usual between pulses and it simply never started again. I've repaired numerous gadgets in my life, but this one goes directly into the trash. Meanwhile my old Waring works like a horse!
Probably fine for stirring Kool-Aid, otherwise not recommended.
- Inexpensive blender and it shows. Had it for about 2 years and then one day it just would not turn on. In the trash.

5 comments about Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar.
- I love this blender. I don't have to shake it, hit it, or any of the things I've had to do with previous blenders in order to get a large amount of ice and/or frozen fruit blended properly. I personally know someone who had this blender's motor stop running after a few uses- but mine works great. I make daquiris, smoothies, milk shakes, slushes, or just shaved ice with ease.
- Like others, I was skeptical after reading reviews here but decided to give it a try. I have used this blender for 5 months now at my Ice Cream store to make smoothies and have been happy with it since day one. The plastic container is perfect for commercial use as it is very durable and is actually the reason I went for the 1000w over the highly rated 750w model with the glass container. I add all ingredients to the blender and press the smoothie button. This blender has torque sensors on the motor and will adjust the speed and time based on consistency to provide a perfect smoothie every time. It just shuts off when done, about 1 minute. YES, it will start and stop on it's own to chop, mix, and blend as stated in the manual. If you are using ice instead of frozen yogurt just start with the ice button and it will chop your ice into a fine powder. This blender is heavy duty and I highly recommend it.
- HI. I just got the Breville Hemisphere. First thing I noticed was that it stops and starts while I make a smoothie. It's not in 'pulse' mode. I tried crushing ice and it did this stop/start thing. I was hoping that the ice would turn into snow cone ice, but it was still chunky. I got the Breville because it was not as expensive as the VitaMix. Maybe I should spend the extra money. Also, I got it at Macy's who sold it for $299 and claimed that it was on sale (original price $399). Everywhere I checked online the price was $299. Is Macy's just trying to pull the wool over my eyes by making me believe that I'm saving $100. Not happy.
- After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit leery of buying this blender. I wanted the best, period. First, this is in my opinion the best looking and I leave it on my counter top, replacing a Kitchen Aid which I gave to my sister.
The first thing I did was to fill the jug with ice to the top. I pushed the ice button and within a few minutes, I had finely grated snow with no large chunks at all. It would have been a perfect snow cone. I went on to put in Strawberries, soft tofu, Yogurt, Soy vanilla ice cream, honey and a little non fat milk on top of the shaved ice. It made one of the best smoothies I have ever had. I have had numerous complements from my wife and neighbors on the smoothies this produces.
I also put in a whole large sweet onion quartered and three cups of large skinned tomatoes, some mushrooms, corn and whole garlic cloves, along with some essential seasoning and made a perfect tomato soup. The consistency was creamy and consistently smooth throughout. No chunks of any of the ingredients, including the corn kernels or garlic cloves. It was wonderful.
I have not had this very long. About two weeks now, but it has gotten a lot of use in that time. I can not speak to the long term reliability of the product, but I have had other Breville products and they are consistently top drawer. The one thing I do think that Breville might have misjudged is that the jar is polycarbonate, a fancy word for plastic. It does seem to be a very sturdy jar and perhaps, there is a certain logic to it. When I transport a full jug of soup from the blender to a bowl or what ever, the weight is quite manageable. Not really an issue for me, but I could see it for others, especially elderly or those with physical limitations. The fit of the blade to the base and jar is clean and the design seems to be very well thought out. There is a plastic wrench supplied in the event the blade base is stuck on the jar, but I have not needed it yet for cleaning and there have been no leaks even after storing liquids in the jar for a period with just hand tightening.
It is only a two speed but in doing some research it seems that most multi button blenders have a low speed and 12 high speeds which are the same. This is done for the button loving public who think more is better. The 1000 watts is not really a dependable measure of the power of the motor since it really only tells you the power consumption of the motor and not the output. It seems to have more than enough power for the toughest jobs however and is heavy enough not to move if I do walk away from it to get an ingredient to place in the top opening while it is running.
Breville seems to have come up with a nice design of the blades and bottom of the container since it moves the material from the top to the bottom and vice versa for even cutting quite well on it's own and the hole in the top makes it easy to insert new ingredients with the motor running. I will say that this blender does everything I ask of it and better than my high end Kitchen Aid Blender which left small chunks of things like ice and garlic or corn kernels, etc.
If I have a problem with the motor breaking down as the others had, ( which based on my other Breville appliances, I doubt will be a problem), I will come back and comment on it, but for now, this is the nicest blender I have ever owned and I highly recommend it. In my opinion well worth the extra money.
- I had the exact same problem as other reviewer. After only a few times of blending, the motor completely stopped. Resetting according to the manual did not restore functionality. I called Breville Custoemr Service and they said this had never happened with this unit. I returned and purchased a replacement and experienced the exact same problem. The motor failed after a few uses. I did not try to blend anything unusual, nor did I put the blender through any heavy tasks. I tried to reach Breville through their customer service email contact and never got the courtesy of an automated or manual reply. Very disappointing.

5 comments about Oster 4119-022 2-Speed 500-Watt Beehive Blender.
- [[ASIN:B00006FMT9 Oster Beehive Chrome Blender] This classic so far is durable in the kitchen. I use it almost daily to make protien shakes. I like it becasuse unlike computers that change for the sake of change in remains the same.. "They know a good thing when they find it."
- Great blender, simple and sturdy. I bought this one after my daughter dropped a spoon into the first one and killed it! Very fast shipping also.
- I give it a 5 star on design -- I like the smaller 5-cup size (not too heavy), the sleek look, the simple on/off switch, and it's simple to clean. However I give it a zero rating on noise level. It is way too loud, I really wish I hadn't purchased it due to this.
- I've had this beehive blender for about 4 years now, and make smoothies with 10-12 ice cubes every few days. Never a hitch until recently, when I cranked it up with ice packed into the blades. (This is a dumb thing to do, but I'd done it dozens of times before and got away with it). A buzz, flash, pop, and this great blender died.
Well, my point in writing this is that the "dead motor" problem is easy to fix. Unscrew the bottom, and you'll find a fuse. Get a replacement fuse at Radio Shack. You have to snip the old wires and solder in the new fuse, but then (at least in my case) it's as good as new.
So, my only suggestion for this great blender is to add a fuse holder accessible on the bottom that doesn't require disassembly or soldering.
Then again, the fuse won't come into play if you put the ice on top of softer ingredients or liquid when you blend.
If/when this blender really dies I will consider it money well spent and get another one. METAL GEARS, need I say more?
- Family all the members bought this blender, and became happy.
Tens of times more made in Japan used so far of juice using ice can also be done easily powerfully.
It has a slightly small capacity and it's felt, but you can break apart easily, so the maintenance is also easy and it's easy to use. (A tooth is very sharp, so, attention is necessary for handling.) I'd like to recommend everyone by all means.
