5 comments about Oster Beehive Chrome Blender.
- Great blender, simple and sturdy. I bought this one after my daughter dropped a spoon into the first one and killed it! Very fast shipping also.
- I give it a 5 star on design -- I like the smaller 5-cup size (not too heavy), the sleek look, the simple on/off switch, and it's simple to clean. However I give it a zero rating on noise level. It is way too loud, I really wish I hadn't purchased it due to this.
- I've had this beehive blender for about 4 years now, and make smoothies with 10-12 ice cubes every few days. Never a hitch until recently, when I cranked it up with ice packed into the blades. (This is a dumb thing to do, but I'd done it dozens of times before and got away with it). A buzz, flash, pop, and this great blender died.
Well, my point in writing this is that the "dead motor" problem is easy to fix. Unscrew the bottom, and you'll find a fuse. Get a replacement fuse at Radio Shack. You have to snip the old wires and solder in the new fuse, but then (at least in my case) it's as good as new.
So, my only suggestion for this great blender is to add a fuse holder accessible on the bottom that doesn't require disassembly or soldering.
Then again, the fuse won't come into play if you put the ice on top of softer ingredients or liquid when you blend.
If/when this blender really dies I will consider it money well spent and get another one. METAL GEARS, need I say more?
- Family all the members bought this blender, and became happy.
Tens of times more made in Japan used so far of juice using ice can also be done easily powerfully.
It has a slightly small capacity and it's felt, but you can break apart easily, so the maintenance is also easy and it's easy to use. (A tooth is very sharp, so, attention is necessary for handling.) I'd like to recommend everyone by all means.
- I bought this Oster after reading the reviews here and in Consumer Reports. No blender seemed to be a clear winner on all counts. Nonetheless, I like everything about this one, except the noise.
Rather than repeating what others have said, I'll simply add how I deal with the excessive noise this blender makes. I put something sound-dampening between the bottom of the blender and the countertop. A folded tea towel, a square cut from a rubber mat etc. What I use is not so high that it even touches the bottom of the blender. Still, I was concerned that this might make the blender overheat, and so I watched closely. But there has been no problem whatsoever. The key is to have something between the blender and the hard, sound-reflective surface of the countertop. It makes a significant difference in decibels.

1 comments about Waring CAC34 PBB Series Replacement Jar Assembly 40-oz..
- I bought this at the same time I purchased a new Waring professional blender, so I can accurately compare the replacement to the original and I find them identical. The only surprise in both the original and the replacement when compared to my old Waring model carafe is that the bottom cannot be removed for easier cleaning.
I don't consider this a serious deficiency, as the all glass carafe (except for the blade and shaft on which the blade is mounted)is relatively easy to clean, with no little rubber or plastic nooks and crannies in which food can hide and fester.
Recommended.

5 comments about 5 cup, stainless steel blender jar, complete. Fits Oster..
- This jar is perfect for smoothies or shakes. I recommend upgrading to the 6 blades for better ice chopping. It is convenient, easy to handle and cleans really fast. No risk of breaking this one! I make smoothies every morning and it is holding up great! I would have loved to have this cup from the beginning. If you are buying a blender definately upgrade an purchase this jar.
- ... on every blender. Who hasn't broken one or more glass jars in the washing process. This is the same capacity, tough as nails and doesn't have any "residual" heat when you're blending cold liquids. An unexpected benefit is that it's so much lighter than the glass version. It's a good investment for the blender you are likely to own for a very long time.
- This was a replacement for a glass blender jar that I broke. I love it. I think it looks cool and it won't break like the glass one did. I will say that the price I paid ended up being about the same as I would've paid for a NEW low-end blender from this company. I just hated the thought of throwing away a perfectly good blender motor.
But what can I say, it's a blender part. I can't be TOO excited for a blender part. ;)
- Makes my Oster beehive blender look like a high end bar blender. My wife is very happy with this replacement container and the new blade. She likes it better than the original glass one that it replaced after it cracked. Two things to consider though. 1. It is smaller than the original container (holds less.) 2. There is no handle on it.
We are happy with it and would recommend to Oster that it come as the original container or as a second one, like a two pack. That would be a neat selling feature.

For me this is one of the best additions to the kitchen after good knives and quality pans. I make a lot of Protein shakes regularly. I find this much easier to hold and hand clean in the sink than the standard heavy glass jar. I bought the Blend-N-Go cup as well and found the capacity was a little too small for me, harder to clean up, and left you juggling around with a loose blade assembly. The only improvement would be to add a thin long clear window to show the level and volume markings on the outside. There are markings on the inside but they might be difficult for some to see. That is the only reason I didn't give it five stars. Otherwise I am very satisfied with this product.

- This ice crusher works as expected, the handle is easier to turn if the ice cubes are wet.
- Looked for a hand cranked ice crusher since my "real" antique one finally bite the dust. Should have looked on Amazon first but didn't. Found one and bought it, love it but felt it was a little over priced for what it is.
- The crusher makes absolutely the perfect size ice chunks for my wife's Mojito. Unfortunately the unit we received has fallen apart with making ice for no more than 20 drinks.
On arrival the hinge pin attaching the lid to the crusher assembly worked out. The workaround was to reinsert the pin each time it was out. Next one of the four screws connecting the crusher assembly to the crushing mechanism came out. The body threads were worn and the screw could not stay when reinserted. However, the unit would still function in the mission to make Mojito ice.
Finally the crank handle separated from the crusher shaft. This was the end of usefulness for the unit. I guess a bolt of some sort could be inserted in the shaft and the unit would function.
I am pleased to see other reviews were this brand and model has held up well.
Based on my experience, I would not purchase it without a guarantee of at least 30 days and the promise to fully refund purchase price plus shipping and handling both to you and return to the vendor.
- My wife took a chance based on the reviews whether or not this Retro Ice Crusher ("RIC") would actually crush ice ... IT WAS GREAT! NOTE WHILE USING THE RIC: If we hit a little jam and it stuck, we just went in reverse for a second, and then went right back into forward motion. We had a full bar of pre-mixed cocktails for a summer party and because just about everything was going to need crushed ice due to some cocktails not being on ice ... This RIC did stand-up to a challenging night and IT WAS AN AMAZING LITTLE CONTRAPTION!!! Our guests loved it and everyone was asking my wife where she purchased it, so she told them ... Amazon.com!
- I bought this ice crusher after going through (2) electric crushers by
Waring Pro. The Waring Pro is not designed for every day use, because
after about 6-8 weeks the crushing gears become damaged and slip, poor
design. I must say this little crusher is built to last and holds up to
several uses each day, also found that if you wet the ice before crushing
the cranking is slightly easier.

5 comments about Back to Basics 2-in-1 Blender Solution 5000 with Smoothie Server.
- I bought this to replace a dying 7 year old Oster blender that didn't even see much use. I use this new blender a few times a week to make smoothies and less frequently for food processing.
I like that this blender is more powerful and has a larger capacity than my old blender. It is attractive and solidly made. I've only had it for a couple of months, but I haven't had the problem with ice that others report. Then again, I use more frozen fruit than ice in my smoothies. My favorite part of this machine is the stir stick. I don't know how I ever got along without one.
My main gripe with this blender is that the smoothie dispenser is more hassle than it's worth. When I start to dispense, there's always a bit of liquid that comes out first that I have to pour it back in. Sometimes the smoothie is too thick and it just doesn't come out, even when I turn the blender on low while dispensing. When I'm done dispensing, it always drips a little on the counter. The dispenser also a bit of a pain to clean as there are five parts to it.
So if you are looking for a good blender, I say go for it. If you are looking to be wowed by a smoothie dispensing dream machine, you might not be as impressed.
- I stumbled into this blender while looking for parts to repair my Kitchen Aid. I was able to buy this for less than the repair parts on the KitchenAid! Could not believe my luck in finding this. Smoothie attachment is a stroke of genius; works great so you avoid having to remove the bowl to pour. Totally pleased and you will be too
- Buy it, try it, you'll love it. We make smoothies in the summer, creamy thick soups and curries in the winter, and this blender purees everything with ease. Love it.
- This really grinds the ice to fine crystals and I love the stirrer. I don't have to stop the machinie, take off the lid, stir the product , put the lid back on etc. I just stir while it is going! I use a lot of ice with my smoothies and this blender creates the perfect consistency. Very happy!
- Had this blender for 3 months and the motor died on me. I was having problems that others were having with the blades getting stuck on ice cubes and not turning.

- I broke the original and was very excited to find this replacement. Although it was the same product, this jar seemed to be a bit wider at the top. The lid needs a lot of muscle to get it down. It doesn't fit on as nicely as the original. With that said, I am glad to have found this on Amazon.
- Finding this replacement carafe saved me the headache and expense of a new blender. Fair price for an excellent product.

- The review for the newer model of this processor helped me decide to buy this older model and boy am i glad. I have had the older one for 22 years and finally broke it and had to have a new one and what fun it is to have a new sharper blade. Works great and is so easy for small jobs. This is NOT a big processor but is great for chopping an onion or making hummus. I have used my sister's bigger Cuisinart and this little guy is so much better for small jobs.
- I love this mini food processor and use it on a daily basis, from chopping nuts to grinding chick peas for hummus to making pesto. I have been using this type of osterizer for over twenty years, only needing to replace the plastic parts once.

- reasonable price and small size good for limited counter space and small family of 2
- this ice crusher works nicely, for the price! only wish i could put in more then one cube at a time. i guess i need a bigger ice crusher for that.
- This product does the job, but it is noisy and slow. It can accommodate only one ice cube at a time. I bought the product to crush ice for cocktails and find that it crushes the ice too finely for this purpose. Tends to make for watery drinks.
- This is the second Deni 6000 Ice Crushers that I have bought. The first time I thought maybe I had did something wrong the reason why it completely fell apart on me. The first one I bought took almost a year to fall apart so I felt maybe I had gotten my monies worth. So, I decided to purchase another one because believe me, this thing does a wonderful job when it comes to crushing ice and gives the consistency that you would love. But, on the other hand, within 1 week of having my ice crusher, metal parts showed up in my ice indicating that pieces of the ice crusher was falling off. My crusher is still operable, and I still love the consistency of the ice, its just that I have lost like two metal parts within a short period of time. I believe I am going to try something new the next time because I'm sure this one will not last even a year.
- Deni 6000 Ice Crusher
I purchased the Deni 6000 ice crusher because my new refrigerator didn't come with one. I didn't want to pay a lot, because how often do you really need crushed ice? The is a great little ice crusher, especially for the price! It produces a nice, uniform particle size perfect for drinks or snow cones. It's the perfect size, too.

5 comments about Oster & Osterizer 5 Cup Plastic Blender Jar Assembly.
- I ordered these replacement parts for another piece I dropped and shattered. Like all Oster products, they are great and make very smooth margaritas and smoothies every morning. The plastic is just like the glass, except it's lighter and I can take it to places that do not allow glass.
- This gets only a 4 Star rate because it is made in MEXICO....and not the USA....outsourcing STINKS...
I have an 1978ish White Original Osterizer Galaxie dual range 10 speed Blender, my Mom won in a Chili Cookoff in 1978 and gave to me then brand new as she already had one. I am still using that same blender. I need to replace the black screw on band as over the last couple years it has finally deteriorated and now leaks. I rarely washed it in the dishwasher, usually hand washed. I still use the Original glass and the original rubber lid. I took care of it and guarded its use. I am sure this Original Osterizer will last beyond my lifetime as it is a workhorse. I never abused it or left it running too long. Because of not being able to use it due to the leaking, I purchased a new Osterizer Blender 16 speed at costco last week. I do not think the main on and off switch will last very long. Poor design there. My Husband used it first to make a Smoothie, with no complaints and now that he has retired he is spending time in my kitchen, driving me nutty but trying just the same. I am purchasing this set up as it will fit my old Galaxie Model. At least Osterizer didn't change the fit of those parts...and honestly all of us are lucky they kept the sizes the same, for replacement. Many companies just move on to some newfangled sizes forcing us to purchase a new unit. Thanks Oster for that, but, MADE IN AMERICA is still the BEST CHOICE....Many of us would spend more to keep the same quality as the Original parts.....all you NEW designers keep that in mind. Don't fix it if it's not broke......
- I had to replace the old one when someone left a spoon in it, then the blender was turned on. Uh oh! This one works fine. The blades are VERY sharp. Good for ice, frozen fruit. The lid is a hard plastic, not like the pliable rubber that originally came with the blender. But I use the original lid anyways, so it doesn't relly matter.
- Made in mexico of thin and cheap plastic. Not original quality of parts. Jar cracked after washing in the dishwasher 1st time. Had to throw away. Bought new Kitchen-Aid blender instead.
- I broke the glass blender jar on my old Oster Kitchen center. This is a combo food processor, mixer and blender.
I was afraid that I wouldnt be able to find a replacement and was happy to find this on Amazon's website. It fits
and works well. It is plastic and very light weight but does its job. No problems.

1 comments about Tamper for Vita-Mix Blender (04-0076).
- My daughter received the Vita-Mix Super 5200 last Christmas, and she has already destroyed two of the hollow plastic Tampers. Thankfully, both were replaced by Vita-Mix, but only after some assertive arguing with the Vita-Mix customer service reps. The Vita-Mix is an awesome machine, with numerous uses. On their website, Vita-Mix states that it is, "Engineered to perform, engineered to last". The included Tamper (Accelerator Tool/Tamper, as it's called by Vita-Mix) was "engineered" to shred if it should come in contact with the rotating blades. While that was a good idea, much more consideration should have been given to engineering a Tamper that would not be able to contact the blades in the first place. The Vita-Mix "Use and Care Manual" cautions that "Excessive force may cause the Accelerator Tool/Tamper to extend too far into the container and possibly cause damage to the blades". My daughter read the manual and she read that caution ... and she has exercised caution .... but both times the Tamper got shredded were while my daughter was grinding nut butters. And both times, the Tamper was pulled, not pushed downward into the rotating blades ... and both times, the nut butter ingredients were wasted because the tip of the hollow Tamper shredded into thousands of tiny pieces of plastic. Obviously, after the first incident, my daughter was extremely careful when using the Tamper ... but the second time, the tamper AGAIN got pulled into the blades again. "PULLED" (read further), not pushed. The Vita-Mix Tamper and lid design has problems ... and, if you check the check the internet, you'll find that others have experienced identical problems (shredding the Vita-Mix Tamper). Vita-Mix customer service reps told me that they don't hear many reports of their Tampers shredding, but I'm willing to bet that this is mostly because replacement Tampers are available and cheaper on sites other than the Vita-Mix website.
Vita-Mix Tamper, problems:
The "Use and Care Manual" shows a picture (drawing) of the "Current Accelerator Tool/Tamper". That picture is incorrect/misleading. It shows a Tamper with a "step" in the middle of its length, and it appears that the "step" is square cornered. The "step" is NOT square cornered, it is chamfered or beveled. That "step" is what is supposed to prevent the Tamper from being inserted too far through the hole in the Vita-Mix lid (when using the 32 oz. container). Since the "step" on the Tamper is chamfered (not squared) and the neoprene lid is flexible and gives a little, the Tamper can be easily pushed beyond the hole in the Vita-Mix lid. That, in itself, is a problem, but here is how the problem can be compounded: When the lid and the tamper are wet with anything, especially oils, then the Tamper can be pushed ... with only moderate force ... beyond the chamfered "step" through the opening in the lid. And, to compound the problem further, the opening in the lid is square and the tamper is round ... which (obviously) results in contact (between the Tamper and the lid) being made in only 4 very small points in the lid opening (picture a round peg in a square hole). When grinding nut butters, little or NO force is needed to cause the tamper to be "pulled" into the blades. The stickiness of the mixtures combined with the blades pulling motion will actually draw the tamper past its "step" and into the blades. Again, no downward force on the tamper is required for this to occur when grinding nut butters. Aside from being a hollow, shreddable plastic, the tamper was just not engineered very well. Yes it will spare the blades if and when it comes into contact with them ... but (as I stated) it should not come into contact with the blades in the first place. When the Tamper is used with the large (64 oz.) container, it's impossible for the tamper to make contact with the Vita-Mix blades ... the Tamper simply cannot be inserted beyond its wide collar/flange.
One of the video demos on the Vita-Mix website shows a lady (Melissa) making nut butter. She's using the large (64 oz.) container and the Tamper is not pulled in beyond the wide collar/flange. If you pay close attention, you'll notice that Melissa actually exerts a little force 'pulling' the tamper OUT of the nut butter. That is because the mixture is sticky, and the Tamper being pulled in, toward the blades.
Possible solutions:
I wrote to Vita Mix, explaining this issue/concern, and I offered ideas for possible solutions to the Tamper problem. It's been nearly 2 weeks, and I've not received a response. I wrote that aside from stiffening the neoprene around the opening hole to prevent the "step" on the Tamper from passing through ... or actually making that opening in the neoprene lid round, instead of square (to insure more contact at the "step") ... a good solution might be to provide two (2) Tampers .... that is, have a second, shorter Tamper that would be used only with the 32 oz. container. That shorter Tamper would have a full-stop collar/flange to prevent it from being able to be pushed or pulled into the blades under any circumstances.
The Tamper has been our only complaint about the Vita-Mix Super 5200.
