5 comments about Chicago Metallic Commercial 14-by-16-Inch Cookie Sheet.

  1. I bought a couple of these cookie sheets a few years back. They are so well made. I appreciate the design as I can put a lot of cookies on it or a braided bread, pizza, etc. I have used these over & over and they have been through a lot of 'torture' without showing it! I have sprayed cold water on a hot cookie sheet and no problem. They have been accidentally dropped several times and no problem. They will last at least 25 years.

  2. I purchased two of these pans and both of them they started to warp within 5 minutes of being placed in a 350 F oven. The two opposite corners would warp up several inches causing an uneven baking surface. Once I take the pans out of the oven, the pans relax and are flat again.

    Terrible product as it is difficult to evenly cook anything when the pans fold so badly. I returned them to Amazon.

  3. I bought this at the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen/ Cook's Illustrated (It came in second after Vollrath Co. Cookie Sheet 17x14-in. I trust America's Test Kitchen because of the large amount of tests that they perform on kitchen "equipment," and their reviews and recipes produce the same results 99% of the time if you follow all directions!

    I plan to use this mainly for cookies, biscuits, and the occasional pizza.
    Overall, I love this baking sheet and I look forward to getting lots of use out of it.

    Pros:

    * Made in the USA!
    * Professional grade aluminized stainless steel is not too heavy, but definitely not flimsy.
    * Does not warp, of course.
    * Browns food evenly.
    * Larger surface area.
    * Low cost; Excellent value!
    * Fairly easy to clean.

    Cons:

    * Just a tad sharp around the edges. They could have smoothed them a bit more.

    Some things to keep in mind:

    * This baking sheet will scratch if you use sharp metal utensils on it too roughly.

  4. Before I purchased this item, I saw it had mixed reviews. I inquired as to the country of origin for this cookie sheet. I wanted to make sure it was made in USA. I was told it WAS made in USA. When I got the item, I took it out of the box and I was stunned. The edges were so sharp that I could easily cut myself. This cookie sheet was made in China. I returned the item. Way too sharp for me.

  5. I've used these cookie sheets for over five years now. We bake a lot of cookies in our house. The cookies are rarely over or under done. They also rarely stick.

    The sheets can warp a bit in a hotter oven, but that hasn't ever been a problem for us.

    The size is nice. Big enough to put on sixteen plus cookies.

  1. Easy access for food manipulation and a nice finish but has a significant warping problem with higher oven temperatures.

  2. This cookie sheet arrived scratched and bent, and it did not happen during shipping. I could have exchanged it, but the sheet felt light and flimsy, not sturdy, like I expected it to. There are NO specs on the label -- how could I know this was the same product that is advertised here?? I sent it back.

  3. I was looking for a simple and sturdy baking sheet. This was one of the only ones I could find without insulationg layers or non-stick coating. To me it hard to beat a good solid stainless steel baking sheet surface and that is what this is.

  4. There isn't much to say as this is a simple product, but it works great. The heavy gauge is especially nice as it makes for very even cooking. Stainless steel is the only way to go for oven-ware in my opinion.

  5. I purchased two of these baking sheets and they are wonderful! They are perfect for baking and clean easily. I am so happy with my purchase.

  1. I bake semi-professionally, making at least three batches of cookies a week on these sheets. They are absolutely the best for cookies, I won't use anything else, and they have lasted for years and years.

    The irony of the negative reviewers on this site is that their baked goods are sticking only because they greased the sheet! Cookies should always be baked on an ungreased sheet. If a recipe calls for a greased sheet, such as with biscuits, always use shortening because such a thin layer of butter will burn, causing the biscuits to stick to the sheet.

  2. The best baking sheets I have every owned. I like them so much I bought two sets. I have a 2 large sheet and 1 small set, that I had for 6 years now. Then I bought this 3 piece set from Amazon for a Christmas present. Easy to clean, and they don't burn food. All Airbaking stuff is top of the line cookware.

  3. Mine are several years old and I'm ready to replace them. They did eventually warp and have some permanent staining. However, they continue to work as well as when first purchased. Cookies seem to rise higher and cook more evenly. I won't bake cookies on anything else!

  4. I own several types of cookie sheets, but will only use the air bake. That is because the bottoms don't burn or get too dark when the cookies are done. I have never had any problem with temperature or cooking times- pretty much I can see when the cookies are done to my liking, just like with anything you bake. My daughter will be setting up housekeeping soon and this is what we are buying to get her started- especially since she is a beginner cook.

  5. These are absolutely horrible. I've doubled the time I bake cookies, place the sheet on the lowest rack, and while the tops of the cookies become dark , cripsy and dry, the bottoms remain doughy. Cooking time and temperatures are so inconsistent you'll be reworking recipies just so they cook alright.

    Back to my regular cooking sheets.

5 comments about Norpro 18-Inch by 12--Inch Heavy Gauge Aluminum Jelly Roll Pan.

  1. it is very good product. Works very well. I did have a problem with the packaging. I received it with dents on it, so I have to exchange them. So look out for these when you receive the product.

  2. We've used these jelly roll pans for 6 months now. We frequently roast vegetables (400-450F with olive oil & salt), bake 10 lbs of chicken thighs at once, and bake bacon (400F). I also bake cookies but always use parchment paper on the sheet. Clean up has been easier than our previous calphalon non-stick pans and no worries about the higher temperatures and non-stick surfaces. If warm water, soap and a nylon scrubbie doesn't clean the pan well enough, use a little barkeeper's friend on a damp cloth. In 6 months, I've only had to do this 3 times -- each time when I've let the pan sit for several hours and the baked on residue turned to something akin to concrete.

    The pans, a second best choice recommended by Cook's Illustrated, are a really nice weight. They have warped a small amount but less than any other pan I've ever had. The only irritating feature is the rolled edge which holds dishwater. I've learned to turn the pan diagonally and let the water drain before removing it from the sink.

  3. I was looking for a pan where i could bake cookies and also heat up stuff without it burning. These do exactly that. Every batch of cookies i have made have come out perfect. Also, i have used them as high as 450 and they have not warped.

  4. Very Large baking pan. I've alway liked aluminum pans, and these are worth the extra couple of dollars more than the "non-stick" pans that start to rust after several months of heavy use. The pans are a very thick aluminum and very sturdy. They are big enough to hold anything, clean up easily, and if anything does get baked on, I can scrub as hard as I want wituout damaging them.

    Definitely the best general purpose baking pans that I own, but I also have a nice set of aluminum air-bake pans for cookies.

  5. This pan was rated #2 by Cook's Illustrated (the #1 pan not being available any longer, probably thanks to Cook's Illustrated) -- but it's great! It's hefty, doesn't warp, browns evenly, and was a bargain. I'm glad I ordered two. Highly recommended.

  1. The sheets warp when heated which makes trying to take them out of the oven a real issue , food falling everywhere... I would not buy this product again.

  2. Wonderful cookie sheets....nice and heavy, doesn't warp in oven and no sticking...everything that's important. Only downside is that it a little too large for my sink and find them hard to wash without sloshing water all over me and the back of the sink.. definitely buy this product.

5 comments about Chicago Metallic Bakeware - Jelly Roll Pan.

  1. I got a smaller Chicago Metallic jelly roll pan for Christmas and we've used it for just about everything because unlike our other cookie sheets it DOES NOT warp. Since we've ruined our other big cookie sheets by using the non-stick sprays on them I decided to replace them. I tried to find these pans un-coated like my other pan (I really don't trust "non-stick" things anymore) but the price on these was too good to pass up. We got them within a week of ordering them even though I used the free super saver shipping and we decided to test out the non-stick by making cookies. We didn't use parchment, or grease the pans, or anything we just put the chocolate chip pumpkin cookie batter directly on the pans then put them in the oven. Not a thing stuck and all we had to do to clean them was wipe them off. Like the directions say you have to pay attention to the temperature and cook time, and maybe reduce one or both but since they warn you I don't blame them for the handful of over done cookies when the other dozens came out beautifully. Also the non-stick coating seems to be a lot different than the stuff used on older pans... this stuff looks and feels as if it is simply a texture added to the surface of the pan, we slid them around on the metal racks in our oven (when cold and when hot), rotated them, put cold batter on them then put them back in the oven, and generally used them as we would use any of our old cookie sheets and I didn't find a scratch on them when we were done. If I could convince my mom to ditch all of our old pans (pity that is a pipe dream) I would replace every one with a Chicago Metallic pan, both non-stick and regular. I really love their products.

  2. Great little pan, when cooking for 2. Easy clean up, and just the right size.

  3. I can't find anything wrong with these (we bought two) and they do exactly what you'd want a quality, durable, non-stick roll pan to do.

    They have a good weight and are very sturdy. The non-stick surface is very non-stick and easy to remove baked items and easy to clean (we clean them by hand to help longevity, which is recommended for any non-stick item).

    They appear to conduct heat very well and very evenly. You may even want to lower the temp 10 degrees or cut short the baking as they heat up and conduct so well. Pay attention the first couple uses and you'll get a feel for how they compare to previous pans.

    So after all that, I have to give it the highest rating just because I couldn't expect anything better.

  4. This is a very heavy duty aluminum baking sheet. The small size is great if you are baking only a few things or roasting a small chicken. It has been used many many times in my kitchen.
    The only slight problem I have with it is that there is a "Chicago Metallic" logo embossed right in the center of the pan that could cause a problem if you were trying to scrape a cookie off of that spot.

  5. I like that it's not non-stick. Great item, washes up perfectly in the dishwasher.

    The smaller size is great for times when I don't want to use the large ones.

    I ordered two, and one arrived warped, but I got lazy and did not report it. It still works fine though.

    I'd like to order more of these, but in a regular size someday.

  1. These cookie sheets are exceptionally thick and strong and won't flex when you take them out of the oven--thereby minimizing the chances of your baked goods sliding off onto the floor. As you might expect they are a bit heavier to lift than a regular cookie sheet but that is a small trade-off.

  2. This is a terrific buy! The pan is solid and heavy-duty! My mom totally loved it. When I get a bigger oven (mine is a small wall oven), I will be buying these pans!

5 comments about Anolon Suregrip 5-Piece Bakeware Set.

  1. This is not some flimsy bakeware set. Each piece has some weight behind it. They are very solid. Non-stick coating seems to withstand scratching from utensil use very well. I like this set so much, I ordered another. This set should not disappoint anyone.

  2. Very good quality. Will not be able to find a similar product anywhere for under $20.

  3. The first thing I noticed with this set is that they are heavy-duty and after using a few times I appreciate how easy they are to clean. I have thrown out the old baking sheets and pans and will only use these.

  4. I love this bakeware, so heavy and will not warp or twist. What a deal, I like Analon way better for all my cookware, better than the other big price brand! I bought a pan with a lid from the "other" brand that starts with "C" and the lid handle got as hot as the pan!! Over $100.00
    for a sauce pan and I can't use the lid!!!
    Analon is the bomb!

  5. When we first got the Anolon bakeware set we really liked it. It appeared to be high quality, with a thick non-stick coating, and grips on the ends molded with "Anolon"

    However, after a couple of months several pans started to develop a few spots of rust. Now that we've had the pans for 6 months they have large spots of rust everywhere. The rust is not only on the inside, but also on the outside, bottom, sides, and at the place where the metal folds over. Although the non-stick coating appears to be thick, I can't tell if it thins and then the underlying pan rusts, or if it is rusting from the inside out.

    I've attached the three rusty photos. 2 showing the rectangular pan (front and back) and 1 showing the cookie pan (back).

    Scott

  1. I love this baking sheet and the fact that it comes with a lid just puts it over the top! All of my cookies come out perfectly (with parchment paper or without but I usually use paper.) This is a great product and I would definitely buy it again.

  2. The pan fits my Silpat perfectly. I baked Dorrie Greenspan's Creme Brulee in it on the Silpat with great results. I know it will be used frequently.

  3. I owned the sheets but without the lid. here are the reasons i love the sheets:
    1 - you can really clean it without worrying about the teflon coming off.
    2 - no concerns about teflon poisoning
    3 - dishwasher friendly
    4 - i use it for everything (cookies, fries, meat ...)
    so now that it comes with a lid i bought it. the lid is especially handy if you are taking it with you (i.e. veggie pizzas are especially easy now !!!)

  4. Love it, have been looking for this pan with a lid, and found it on Amazon.com Thanks!

  5. I was always having terror attacks when I attempted to transport my Texas Sheet Cake to any gathering. Now I tote it in perfect shape and no Iceing Terror. It arrives in good shape and so do my nerves.
