2 comments about CorningWare Creations 24-Ounce Au Gratin Dish, Ruby.
- I have purchased several of the CorningWare Creations pieces and have been very pleased with both its performace, looks and shipping. Overall, this series is very hard to find. I found a few pieces in a Corning outlet in Servierville, TN, but only the Sapphire and Ruby pieces and the price was about the same as Amazon. Definitely not worth the drive when UPS will drop them at my door.
For this specific piece, I ordered it on Tuesday and it arrived Friday in perfect condition. It was packed in a bubble wrap envelope inside an Amazon "ready to ship" box which was then placed into a larger box with Diamond White 24 oz Au Gratin dish. I have never had a piece come broken, although the packing has sometimes left much to be desired.
The set over all stacks very well one inside another for cabinet storage and without scratching. I have hit the pieces pretty hard on the counter and banged them in the sink. I have never had a chip or break despite the fact I am not always as gentle as I should be. My boyfriend likes these pieces because he is in charge of clean up if I cook. All he has to do is stick the lid on and pop it in the fridge. There is no seal on the lid, it simply fits in place as one would expect, but strangely enough he did this with fresh salsa and there was no onion smell in the fridge. I like the Ruby and the Diamond White. The Diamond White looks good enough to use on a formal table with my china, which is white with platinum accents. It also looks great with casual dishes, which makes this series very useful.
This is a larger dish than I thought it would be. Plenty big enough for 12 enchiladas, for serving large quantities of sweet potato casserole, and for any other goody I might come up with. Again, I have stacked this in the cabinet with other au gratin pieces in the collection and there are no scratches. Metal utensils used to scope out enchiladas also left no marks, nor did being stacked in the sink and having forks and other utensils tossed in on top. Still looks new.
- Very pretty, but it arrived broken despite looking like it was packed well.
Customer service was great, and immediately shipped a replacement.
That appeared to be well packed, cushioning on three sides. BUT the bottom had no cushioning. Anyhow, you guessed it. The replacement also arrived broken.
I certainly do not recommend buying this product.

3 comments about HIC Porcelain Square Quiche Dish, 6-1/2-by-6-1/2-by-1-Inch.
- I bought this to use in my convection toaster oven. It's perfect for making a small serving of brownies.
- I don't do quiche either! But I do tarts and this little dish makes a great size individual tart. I worry about the fact it is from China and the lead problem with their products in the news. I need to get one of those lead testers!
Great little dish as far as size and clean up.
- Very sturdy product and demonstrates the durability and service ability of porcelain which, one assumes, has been around since the late George Burns.
This customer does not do quiche, but product was obtained for baking at high heat. Heat is spread evenly and quickly. Finish on dish cleans easily.
Cannot beat price so two were purchased.
Only worry is that since the dish is made in old China, one hopes it does not contain lead!

4 comments about Norpro Deluxe Munk Aebleskiver Pan.
- The product info says it is non-stick, but this is a cast-iron pan, complete with directions to oil and condition it before use. It doesn't look non-stick to me, however, I confess I haven't tried it yet. The quality looks great and I'm sure it will work fine.
- After being introduced to Aebleskivers over a year ago, my whole family fell in love with them. Never once owning any cast iron cookware, I did not know of the various atributes to look for when purchasing one. NEVER BUY ONE WITH A WOOD HANDLE. The cast iron may last a lifetime (and then some), however with regular use, the handle completely deteriorated inside one year. I am now cooking entirely with cast iron and am looking to replace the aebleskiver pan with a fully cast iron one (Griswold being my choice for this pan, Lodge looks ugly)
- I own a ceramic (smooth top) stove. No where it the advertisement did it indicate that the Aebleskiver pan could not be used on the ceramicsurface. Being unfamiliar with the pan I could not know in advance. i was very disappointed.
- It's a great pan. Cleans up easily and nothing sticks to it.
