5 comments about Pyrex Storage 14-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids.

  1. We replaced all of the plastic storage containers with these glass containers. They aren't expensive, they work well and they are arguable much safer for us and the environment. What's not to like? They could use some larger matching bowls.

  2. Being concerned about plastic leaching who-knows-what into our food (and not trusting corporations to tell us about it), I purchased these, along with a set of Pyrex larger, mixed-size containers to replace plastic refrigerator storage pieces. It's easy to view the contents, the lids fit securely, and there's the bonus of being able to microwave food in them. They also beat out plastic when it comes to washing as they go in the dishwasher and retain their shape. They're a little pricey when compared to plastic, but will last forever, so I figure they are a bargain in the long run. Since 90% of the food we buy in the stores seems to come in plastic, it's impossible to get away from it, but hopefully every little bit helps.

  3. Recently we just stopped using plastics and switched to all glass for food storage and microwaving because of health concerns.

This pyrex has been wonderful. I have not had any cracks or breaks and I have even dropped a few from the refrigerator to the floor. Its great that you can go straight from refrigerator to oven or microwave. The lids fit perfectly.

The only complaint that I have on this set is that there is alot of smaller bowls and I am always needing bigger ones. Other than that, this has been a great set.

  4. I've been using this product for about 1 1/2 yrs. & also purchased it as a gift for newlyweds. I love these glass bowls as well as their versatility. I just wish these bowls had some sort of handle. I use my microwave extensively for cooking; the dishes are very hot & it can be tricky removing them from the microwave. Sometimes I put a plate under the dish to make removal easier; other times, I use a potholder. I'm always concerned that I'll lose my grip and the hot contents will fly all over me and the room. Ouch! Since it's becoming more and more important to avoid plastics, I hope that Pyrex will add some sort of handle or grip to all their glassware. I purchased both sets from Amazon.com and both arrived intact, with no breakage, & all the correct lids.

  5. I am STRONGLY considering another set of these! I recently saw where they do not recommend reheating food in plastic containers, but recommend you using glass ones. I got rid of my tupperware and bought this set. . .LOVE it! They take up less room then the bulky tupperware, also they do not get the smells or stains like the tupperware do; not to mention being so much more cheaper as well. I RECOMMEND this item!

4 comments about Le Creuset Stoneware Covered Deep Dish Baker.

  1. First of all we really like the product, but were confused because the description read "Product Dimensions: 13.8 x 5.5 x 10.5 inches"
THAT'S THE SIZE OF THE BOX, NOT THE PRODUCT. But I really think that's misleading. From the bottom of the pan to the top of the cover knob, it is 5.5 inches. When you open the box you'll see the correct (inside) dimensions printed on the product wrapper 10 3/4 x 8 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches. If you're expecting a 5" deep pan, you'll be disappointed.

  2. This is a nice covered baker. The size is really great, in my opinion. The interior dimensions are about 8.5" x 11", with the exterior dimensions being the larger size described in the shipping size section of the listing (10"x 13" or something like that). There was indeed a hole in the side of the knob on top of mine - my guess is that it's designed that way to allow interior heat to escape, although I can imagine how it would weaken the strength of the knob.

My biggest complaint is that the lid doesn't sit very steadily on the lip - it kind of wobbles around and doesn't provide a very good seal. If I had paid full price, I definitely would be sending it back. However, I paid $16 for it, so I can deal. I couldn't get a LC baker without a lid for that...

  3. The low rating on this is for Amazon in this case, not for the product.
When I ordered this item (in Citrus), what I received was a smaller version than what is shown in the product specs (more like 8 x 11 x 3).

I requested Amazon reset the order for the right size, and the replacement shipment was exactly the same size as the first, with the added bonus of being packaged so poorly and loosely it had shattered during shipment.

I submitted a second request for the correct product, at which point I received a message saying something to the effect of it being a bigger problem than they expected and they were unable to fulfill my order as requested.

I'm sure this would be a wonderful product - if I could actually receive what I'm ordering...

  4. I ordered one of these in Kiwi over a year ago from Amazon. It's a beautiful baker; and the stoneware is wonderful to bake in--plus it cleans up easily, although a little scrubbing with nylon is sometimes needed or soaking overnight in sudsy water. I love Le Creuset's stoneware products and continue to collect them! The knob on the baker I ordered arrived with a hole bored through it which seemed to serve no purpose. It was livable withable and didn't affect appearance, so I kept the baker. However, the lid was evidentially hit a bit while in storage at home; and the knob cracked at the base and became loose. So this is a warning to store stoneware carefully and be advised that knobs are easily broken. It seems some of the newer Le Creuset bakers avoid this problem by getting rid of knobs!

  1. I have had one of these pyrex dishes for years and when mine smashed into a trillion peices not to long ago... I knew I wanted to find one that was as close to the original as possible. I absolutely love this dish! It can go from oven to fridge to dishwasher no prob. I make lots of brownies and casseroles in this dish... and the best part is that it comes with a lid to make storage of leftovers very very easy!
    You will not be disapointed!

  2. I own a lot of Pyrex. It may not be as fancy as other bakeware/serveware, etc., but dollar for dollar it's a great deal. Over time, it's less expensive than those disposable aluminum pans. I live near a place that sells 9x13 aluminum pans for 15-25 cents per pan, and I still rarely buy them.

Speaking of which, aluminum pans aren't that great for storing cooked food. Pyrex doesn't give off any odors, and the plastic top makes storage and transporting a breeze (no mess). I have never had a hard time cleaning my Pyrex - either by hand or in the dishwasher.

  3. I bought this dish as a replacement to a similar one that I broke. It is a wonderful kitchen tool! IT even has a top unlike the first one I had. It shipped the day after I bought it too! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys cooking.

5 comments about Norpro Danish Aebleskiver Pan.

  1. Love this pan! I had a hard time finding one without nonstick coating and this is it! After seasoning it once, nothing sticks to the cast iron. I had some reservations before purchasing b/c reviewers said it is so small. It is small, but actually the perfect size! Buy it!

  2. I don't understand what is up with this pan! I got it and seasoned it as stated, but when I washed it, it got a rusty coating on it, that stains anything it touches. I didn't use soap on it, only water. It is now sitting in my garage and will probably end up in the trash. At least it only costs me 9.00.....

  3. I had good luck on my first try (see picture above if I did this right), only because I've been collecting cast iron for a while and experimenting with seasoning it. This is a nice pan--you don't need to spend more money.

  4. This pan is by far the best value in an Aebelskiver pan. Resist the temptation to buy the one advertised on TV. The cast-iron construction of the Norpro pan makes it superior for cooking and durability. I made the little pancakes the day I got the pan using the recipe that came with it. How fun! And the possibilities for stuffed pancakes, both sweet and savory! Use a skewer to turn the pancakes to cook them on the top side. If you are considering an Aebelskiver pan - make it the Norpro!

  5. I really thought there was no way this pan could be any good. The price is just too amazing. But it is a solid heavy-duty cast iron pan. Really.

It's small, yes. All of these pans are. And you won't do better on the price.

  1. Purchased this pan to replace a similar size pan that was falling apart,
I didn't realize I would fall in love!
The weight is great, easy to clean, good browning.
I now want to replace all my pans.

  2. I have written reviews on almost all of this line of cookware and they all have a five-star rating.

These are an excellent weight for baking; have markings for portion size; are a good color for browning things nicely (remember to reduce oven temperature by 25 degrees to prevent burning as with any darker colored baking vessel); and are incredibly easy to clean.

I have never had anything stick in one of these pans (and have made many very sticky things in them!) and cleaning them is a breeze. Swish out with a soapy cloth or sponge and dry - or put them in your dishwasher. Either way, they come out perfectly.

The weight is similar to the professional pans I have used over the years during my time as a professional cook. I like the heavier weight and the fact they distribute the heat evenly all over - no hot spots.

I recommend these to anyone looking for new or replacement pieces.

  1. At $7.99 with super saver shipping (on orders over $25) plus the 4 for 3 promotion, you really can't beat this deal. I particularly like this size for serving casseroles for two people. Actually, it's big enough that you can use it to heat more than one item in it at the same time. The lid, which has a strong seal, makes it very useful for storing leftovers in the refrigerator.

  2. I love the design and quality. The lid fits snugly to keep food fresher.

  3. I got this covered square baking dish to use with a casserole carrier that I already have. It works fine for the purpose and holds a little more than some others (deeper).

  4. Pyrex is a well known high quality dish that will last almost forever if you don't drop it. I've had mine for over 30 years and my mom gave me hers so it's even older than that. I got this one 'cuz i could always use another one and this comes with a cover. The cover makes it so much nice to use than to use glad wrap. Oven proof, microwave proof and i've put mine in the freezer.

  5. Pyrex. What more needs to be said? Wonderful dish, lid fits greats and it stacks nice in the freezer. Perfect for freezing meals. You can thaw it in the fridge and then directly to the oven, no extra mess!

5 comments about Le Creuset Stoneware Petite Blueberry Casserole.

  1. I've been wanting a Petite Blueberry Casserole, but $25 seemed too much for a purchase that's basically frivolous. Then one day I noticed the price was marked down to $19.89 for an unknown reason. The temptation was too great, and I bought one. When it arrived, it was actually larger than I expected after reading some of the reviews. (I've posted two photos of the casserole next to a soda can so you can get a better idea of the actual size.) But what I really noticed was the odd color band around the center of the casserole. The official photos indicate the center is supposed to be a lighter shade than the blueberry color on the top and bottom, but this was so light that the color could best be described as lilac. I hadn't seen a blueberry casserole in person before this, so I didn't know if it's supposed to be that color. But it doesn't look attractive at all. There was also a blemish that looked like a fingerprint pressed into the surface of the lid. I have returned the casserole for a refund. Interestingly, it wasn't eligible for a replacement -- only a refund. Now, I can't say for certain that there's a relationship between the reduced price and the reduced quality, but now I know that if something that's never been on sale is suddenly on sale, this buyer will beware.

  2. The piece is beautiful, great for deserts or other individual servings of dishes. Wonderful if you have vegetarian or vegan friends and you want to make variations of the main dish for them.

This arrived with a chip on one of the leaves. It was a holiday present and I did not inspect it before wrapping. When we discovered that it was damaged, we tried to exchange it. After numerous un-answered voice mail and email messages, we were informed that it was past the 14 day period that they allowed for exchanges.

Lovely piece, but try to find it from someone other than The Kitchen Clique.

  3. This is the most adorable little casserole. It's about the size of a large softball. Very blue. It bakes and cleans up well. I've used it to make single servings of many dishes but I love to roast garlic in it. A good price for this line of cookware. I would recommend it for anyone who likes to cook. I'm sure you'll come up with some very creative uses for it too. And it looks great sitting on the counter top!

  4. I bought a series of these petite "casseroles" as kitchen decor. Whether I ever use them for food preparation remains to be seen. They are so adorable, I don't care if they are practical! I can see using them for service pieces, but I mainly plan to enjoy the color and whimsy they add to my kitchen.

  5. This is about the size of a sugar bowl and is really cute! It was a little pricey for the size, but everyone thinks it is adorable. Very nice piece. :)

  1. I am pleased with this cookpan because not only does the food stay warm longer it can be taken directly from the oven and placed on the table in the same pan. It is versatile ;durable and matches with any table decor.

My daughter has already placed dibs on it :-)

  2. Gorgeous loaf pan. Bread cooks evenly and does not stick. This is my first piece of Le Creuset and I will definitely be back for more.

  3. This is a loaf pan with heft. The thick walls seem to perform as advertised, retaining heat and baking contents evenly. I've used the pan to bake bread and salmon loaf; both turned out well. Also, the pan cleans up easily

  4. I got this free with my Le Creuset purchase. Thus far, I haven't used it yet, but I love their quality. I have tons of stoneware, and plan on making banana bread soon.

5 comments about Pyrex Bakeware 2-1/2-Quart Oval Roaster, Cobalt.

  1. I have ordered so many things from Amazon, and the pyrex bakeware is awesome, its easy to clean cooks beautiful and looks great on the table.

  2. It is nice. I like it. Came packaged nicely and works like a bowl should. :)

  3. Beautiful color and incredible strength mean you will have this for a long time in your kitchen. This size is good for nesting other pieces into it and storage is maximized by keeping all the Pyrex together!
Glass means the heat is even throughout while cooking. The temperature this glass can withstand is more than you would ever use in a home oven, even broiling. And cleaning is a breeze because you can see where the baked-on stuff is. We use a dishwasher for our pyrex after hand-washing so we do not bake any grime into the surface.
I always soak these, too after use.
I have clear glass Pyrex but the blue ones are just prettier and more fun to use.
Highly recommended quality product line. No complaints at all.

  4. Gave this as a gift, daughter loved it uses it all the time. Not only is it useful but it is pretty too.

  5. The Pyrex Oval Roaster is useful for all types of baking needs. Several years ago I had broken my pyrex after years of use, without it in my kitchen I felt lost.
When my Pyrex arrived I felt like it was Christmas, again!
I recommend every kitchen have pyrex bakeware items, they last and make cooking and baking a joy!
***I am editing this review to include that since my original purchase of this item I am still enjoying its use. I own two of these dishes and use them for casseroles, vegetable/meat dishes, desserts, pasta and potato dishes from the oven to the table this dish provides ease of use. I have found over the years that pyrex is durable but a couple of tips could prolong the life of your pyrex...avoid extreme temperature changes, allow the pyrex to sit at room temp before placing in the refrigerator and don't put cold pyrex into a hot oven.
