  1. 4th degree burns can be suffered when handling this metallic brim stoke pot, which doesn't have cool iron density retraction at the handle. You are better getting a cool wave disperse model which Maytag sells, but if you use a Calco hand glove, this is just as good.

  2. The size of this pan is great for a lot of uses. I am disappointed in the wall thickness though. The wall on this pan is thinner than the 1 qt I bought a couple of years ago.

  3. This is a heavy duty item. It distributes heat evenly and it is very attractive. I have a full set and bought this piece for my daughter. I would highly recommend it although it is a bit pricey. It should last forever if given proper care.

  4. All Clad has two pots at bargain prices to lure cooks in to the pleasures of top quality cookware--the 8" fry pan and the 1 1/2 qt. sauce pan. You deserve both of them so don't hesitate. My mother is 89 and a true penny squeezing Depression Era baby. I gave her the 1 1/2 qt. sauce pan and to my surprise the last time I visited she had bought the fry pan for her self. She liked the looks (she leaves these pans out on the stove just because she likes the look of quality) and appreciated the even heating and ease of cleaning. If you buy these two pieces you will probably come back for more thus justifying All Clad's marketing strategy. I know I sound like an All Clad shill, but don't hesitate, it's a bargain.

  5. I am very please with the response to my order. The item is as described.

  1. An terrific pan, which is used almost daily. We have a large set and All-Clad is EXCELLENT.

  2. It's a good size, even heat & easy cleanup. I was concerned about it not being a no-stick pan, but its performance won me over the first time I used it.

  3. I have wanted this pan for a long, long time, and I was finally able to get it. All I can say is that I wish I had bought it before. It's an amazing pan, food cooks evenly, nothing sticks, washes easily --- I'm happy to have it and strongly recommend it. A worthwhile investment!

  4. I bought this pan for a christmas present for my husband. he loves to cook. I find myself using it alot also. It's so nice to cook with. I bought the cover separately but now wonder if I should have. I don't think I'll be using the cover much since it's a frying pan. Just something to think about. But the pan is outstanding!!!!

  5. This is an awesome skillet. No one should be without! It's a fantastic size and the quality can't be beat. I have other all clad pieces and some caphalon also. You really do get what you pay for. Highly recommend this!

  1. Not too big, not too small, not too heavy, not too light, not too hot, not too cold ;-) It's just right! And that makes it really a joy to cook with! Love it!

  2. I have only used this pan once, but it did a good job on my burgers. One thing I noticed, was that it didn't have the LTD anywhere on the pan. Maybe thats normal...don't know. This pan is easy to clean, which means a lot to me. You won't be sorry,if you purchase this one.

  3. I love this pan! Here in the Northeast, it's not much fun to grill outdoors in the winter, so I got this pan as a substitute. I've had grill pans in the past, but they heated unevenly and delicate foods like fish stuck to them.

If I'm not braising it or steaming it, I'm probably cooking it in this pan - shrimp, fresh fish, vegetables, burgers, steaks, chicken breasts - even satays and skewers. Because I can get the pan so hot, everthing cooks quickly but with beautiful color.

I wonder if I'll ever want to grill outside again?

  4. Great pan we use a lot, when we don't want to fire up the grill. Cleans easy, not a heavy thing like Le Creuset. We have a ceramic (glass?) surface so works on that with no problem.

  5. My dinners have been saved with this pan. Just throw in a Rib Eye steak or two, a little salt and pepper, and WOW the best steaks I ever ate:) I'm sure it cooks other meats or chicken just as great. It's easy to clean, but do not put it in the dishwasher. It's the perfect grill pan. I can't recommend it high enough - and believe me I don't give to many 5 stars.

  1. What needs to be said about an All-Clad product other than they are one of the best on the market? This is a nice weighty piece that conducts heat evenly. A great addition to my other pieces. Highly recommend.

  2. We love our All Clad pans. They heat and cook evenly. We use this large saucepan for big batches of rice, boiling pasta, cooking vegetables etc. We like it so much better than our old saucepans that I just ordered the All Clad 1 1/2 qt. saucepan today.

  3. I'm usually cooking for one, so I use this pan mostly with a steamer insert. It's a good, heavy pot with a stay cool handle. Heats very evenly and quickly.

All Clad quality is the best. There is more expensive cookware out there, but All Clad delivers the same high quailty at a lower (but not cheap)price. All Clad is an investment. I don't plan on owning another set of pots.

I love the stainless finish because it is dishwasher safe.

  4. Yes, the stainless steel is good, it performs well, but the pan is awful to use. It has no pouring lip for sauces so they slosh everywhere, and what's with that ghastly handle? I am very strong, yet I find the pan very heavy to carry when full. The handle is uncomfortable and very long (to keep it less hot), which makes it awkward on the stove and to hold. I do use a potholder. I have been able to get other brands which have far better handles (Fissler, Spring) and perform as well or better. I find I use these before my All-Clad. All-Clad has the market in the US, but there are better pans out there. Shop around.

  5. This has been my favorite pan for 15 years, and my wife and I both cook a lot. About 10 years ago we got tired of handwashing things, so we've been putting these in the dishwasher since then.

It distributes heat well, and the handle stays cool. I've been using All-Clad so long that when I recently used another brand whose handle got hot I practically dropped it in shock. A warm handle? Is that possible?

I can tell that this pan is not new anymore. It has very faint spots about the size of a pencil-eraser on the inside surface.

Based on my experience, this pot will last for at least 50 years and maybe 100.

There may be other cookware this good, but I don't see how there could be any that's better.

  1. This pan is not only pretty, but it cooks extremely evenly. Do not use metal utensils while cooking with these pans - I wasn't thinking and did scratch mine a bit. You'll love this pan!

  2. This pan and an All-Clad saucepan were big splurges for me. I have not cooked in another brand of stainless cookware and did look at several other brands. That said, I have not questioned my buying decision once.

The keys for me have been "hot pan, cold oil (fat)", not being too chintzy with the fat, and letting the food get a good amount of caramelization before touching it. Not that that's rocket science, it's just such a treat to find cooking in stainless so easy. About the amount of fat, 1 Tbsp butter was sufficient for an omelet which didn't stick; but otherwise, I've actually been surprised at how little fat I could use--it just isn't like a getting by with little to no fat in a nonstick pan.

This pan is the perfect size for my family of two. It's easy to handle and fits on my stove burners well, so even if I was fixing more food I'd have a hard time switching from this size pan. It's an acceptable size for smaller meals like a two-egg omelet.

I wash the pan in the dishwasher and use Barkeepers Friend to get rid of any discoloration.

  3. Remember that Queen song, "I'm in love with my car?" Well, I love my All-Clad pans. Food browns perfectly, deglazes easily and just makes cooking a dream. They clean up easily with a soak and a soft brush. If you are registering for a wedding or another occasion, definitely pop this one on your list.

  4. This Pan Is Not for the inexperianced cook. Go for the coate
    d cookware

  5. I bought this pan and love it. It has the perfect slope to flip food. As far as the handle goes...well, that's another story. All-Clad quality is top notch but they fall short on the handle design. The handle does stay unbelievably cool, but it's dam uncomfortable. I compensated for it being so narrow by purchasing a suede handle cover. I still rate it a five though.

  1. I really enjoy this Stock pot , it cleans nicely and cooks my soups with ease .

Good quality Stainless Steel body and strong Handles.

It is manufactured to be from the better class of kitchenware ,

    I highly recommend this pot.

  2. The product is of decent build quality, but no greater than Calphalon. I have a large collection of Calphalon product (aluminum and stainless). I perfer their product because ergonomically it just feels better and they stand behind their warranty. I had a problem with the first Allclad piece I bought and Allclad wouldn't stand behind their warranty. They suggested I talk to the retailer about taking it back. With Calphalon I send the piece in and they send me a new one. I'm not going to spend a premium on cookware if the company won't stand behind it. I don't care what country the product is made in, I want a quality product that you are willing to stand behind.

  3. This is my first All-Clad product, the stuff's not cheap! This is a great pot for the money. It is a large, sturdy pot and can get heavy, even half full it's a load. The steamer basket is very nice and it cleans up very easy. If you're bothering to read this, just buy it.

  4. It's a very nice pot, and well worth the price IF you don't have an induction cooktop. Although the description clearly states it's magnetic stainless, it's not. All of my cookware is All-Clad, and I love them, but they need to be a little more clear (or honest?) about this one.. it's not made by All-Clad, it's made in China, and it's not usable on an induction cooktop, unlike all their other stainless cookware.

  5. Despite what the description says, this cookware will not work with an induction cooktop. I was quite excited when the package arrived; the item appeared to be well built and was quite heavy. But when I placed a magnet to the bottom of the pot, it did not stick. It appears that Amazon has an incorrect discription of the item. All-clad is famous for their induction cookware, and one doesn't need a top of the line pot to boil water - but it does need to hold a magnet if it's going to work with an induction cooktop. I didn't know how many starts to rate this item. For a gas or conventional electric cooktop, I would give it at least four stars, but for induction, it is really zero stars.

  1. Looks great and serves the purpose with the pan. I am very curious as to why the package says made in China as I thought All Clad was made in Pennsylvania USA?

  2. As another reviewer pointed out, this lid doesn't seal as well as it should. I suppose the 5-star reviews received a slightly different product.

In comparison, the All-Clad lids for my 10.5 inch frying pan an 1-quart sauce pan fit perfectly.

I gave it only 2 stars because of the fit was not what I expect for a $47 lid.

  3. I purchased this lid for a 12" Calphalon skillet and it fits. All-Clad is expensive but it ia also high quality cookware. I am very pleased but it would be nice if it was not so expensive. Great looking and no worries about oven use.

  4. This lid alone costs more than most pans. It is an extravagent expense, but if you regularly use lids then you are stuck with this option if you want to buy something that is going to fit your All-clad pan correctly. Of course, it is well-made with heavy steel and seems as expensive as it is, but if you are only buying a lid for completeness, and you just won't use it much, keep your $50.

  5. I needed a lid for my 12 inch All-Clad fry pan and all of the one-size-fits-all lids at my local stores were a wee bit too small. That's because All-Clad's 12 inch fry pan is actually 12 and 3/8 inches in diameter.

So I purchased this genuine All-Clad lid and it fits perfectly. It's a high-quality well-made product. I deducted one star because it costs twice as much as what other good-quality lids cost.

5 comments about All-Clad Stainless 12-Inch Nonstick Fry Pan.

  1. I have owned this pan for a few years and it has gradually lost its non-stick coating. It is now totally useless and I am off to replace it with the Cuisinart pan that America's Test Kitchen preferred over the other non-sticks out there. I love all of my other All Clad products, but from now on I am not spending more than $50 on a non-stick pan.

  2. I would agree with Resse, I've noticed this degradtion on my pan as well. It's been retired for 'regular' use now. Also, I find the handle very uncomfortable to use when the pan is holding anything that's heavy. Overall one of te best I've owned, but not perfect.

  3. On Sundays, I cook my lunches and dinners for the entire week. This is my new Sunday fish and seafood pan! Soon, it will become my new breakfast pan when I have to feed the six people staying with me for my family reunion.

The nonstick finish is great. I haven't had any problems with it. I like the fact that I can get the All-Clad even heat technology with a non-stick surface. Because of the non-stick surface, the pan is not dishwasher safe. However, it's so easy to clean that you don't even think about it.

    Caring for nonstick

To avoid damaging the coating, you should always heat the pan with oil. The oil will smoke before the pan gets too hot to do any damage. Do not use nonstick spay with nonstick cookware. The droplets are so fine that they can form a brown film on the finish over time.

When a plan losses its nonstick properties, All-Clad suggests cleaning with a paste of baking soda and water. If the baking soda doesn't turn brown, switch to Bar Keeper's Friend and water. Always scrub with something made for nonstick cookeware.

Enjoy! This pan is big enough to feed a crowd!

  4. I received my All-Clad set when I got married in 2001. In general I have been very happy with this pan. It cooks great and has been through a lot of use over the past six years.

On the down side the pan is a bit heavy and the handle can get hot toward the base. As a result whenever I am cooking a 1.5lb of ground beef I need to use a pot holder to grab near the bottom of the handle so I can drain it.

The other draw back that I have recently noticed is the non-stick seal is not what it once was. I am very careful with the cleaning, high-heat, and utensils. However, food has been sticking on the pan for the past year and is getting worse.

Since All-Clad is all about durability I expect better.

  5. People! If you're going to buy expensive non-stick pans learn the basics on how to maintain them! Read the user directions!! You should not use high heat on ANY non-stick! Using high heat voids the All-Clad warranty! High heat also eventually compromises non-stick surfaces. You should not use aerosol spray oils in non-stick as it ruins the non-stick coating. Use only utensils made to use with non-stick pots and pans. Never put very cold food in a hot pot or pan. You should not clean non-stick in dishwashers - hand wash with Bon Ami and a plastic mesh scrubber. Bon Ami (or similar) also works best on All-Clad stainless. Hard-anodized pots and pans are not dishwasher safe, no matter what the brand. I can boil water in my All-Clad pots on Medium! It IS possible to brown foods in non-stick pans. I have an All-Clad non-stick grill pan (has ridges in the bottom) and I can brown sliced potatoes in it AND bacon doesn't curl when fried in it! If you want to cook as you want and abuse the pans, buy the cheap stuff and quit complaining!! I work for one of the three major top brands (not All-Clad!), so you can take all this info for what you think it's worth. All-Clad, Anolon and Calphalon cookware are investment-type purchases. Treat them as such!
