4 comments about How to Make Serious Money with Your Own Mobile Food Business (Book & 2 Dvd Set): The BBQ Concession Trailer As a Home Based Business Opportunity (The Weekend Wealth Series, Making Cash the easy way, Volume 1).
  1. This was by far the best purchase I made on amazon this year. I enjoyed watching the DVD's that covered far more than I expected.

I have always wanted to have my own restaurant, but never have been able to get it together. The trailer food business is more my thing, as I can leave it parked in my backyard when I don't want to sell. I had trouble finding information on the subject of mobile food vending and I wish I would have seen this course earlier. It has taught me a lot about this business. The film showed interesting background info and a lot of food being prepared for resale. The ribs looked delicious and I now always cook my ribs this way. Watching the procedure is like being there and much better than just reading about it...

The book is easy to follow and covers pretty much everything I needed to know. I am not much of a chef, but people were all impressed by the food I prepared the way it is described in the book. I fed over 300 people in one day by myself at our block party and made good money doing it. This guide was very helpful to me in my rural area. It also made me feel like I can actually put a business like this together in my spare time.

  2. I originally bought this for my husband and ended up watching the DVD's with him. They are really packed with a lot of information and with valuable tips from a real professional.

Now BBQ became our first choice of foods to sell. The recipes in the film are truly wonderful and turned out well the first time we tried them. We also will focus on Tex-Mex foods that are very popular in our area.

The book gave us lots of good ideas that we will use in our own business. The author is right: cooking for fun is one thing- cooking for money is another! It was good to watch someone else do it first. Probably saved me from making lots of mistakes!

Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase and I am glad I found it!

  3. To address some of the questions that the reader might have:

    * This course is very easy to digest but will take about 4-5 hours of your time.
    * It covers a great deal of many different subjects related to concession sales.
    * Previous experience in this field is not necessary.
    * The Dvd's give several good menu suggestions next to full instructions on preparing a variety of barbecue meals.
    * Mr. Robertson shows a lot of experience and enthusiasm in his field.
    * There is an Index of links as well as recipes towards the end of the book.

The author did an excellent job at describing ways how to get started in your own concession vending business. I have been operating a ball game concessions stand for over 8 years, next to my day job as a teacher and I have become quite experienced in this field. I know that there is a lot of money to be made with food sales. At sports events, the food and drinks are an essential part of the whole fun, no matter how pricey they are. The only drawbacks are the ever increasing concession fees to set up at the games. This is yet another reason, why owning a business as an independent operator makes a lot of sense.

After reviewing this course, I was able to learn a great deal more about concession sales. If you are thinking about starting out in this field, I can highly recommend it!

  4. The videos are excellent, it's as if a friend was showing you how to do the business and be successful. Even if you are not planning to do a BBQ concession this package will show you "tricks of the trade" on marketing, operations and using ready-made products with your own twist.
Thanks to the author I learned a lot.

3 comments about Practical Guide to U.S. Taxation of International Transactions (Sixth Edition) (Practical Guides).
  1. The authors deliver an indispensable and valuable guide for international transactional and tax professionals. The analytics, coupled with the use of text and graphics will appeal to a wide range of readers!

  2. Easy to follow. It doesn't get into extremely technical tax planning, but it explains high-level transactions at a level non-international tax professionals should be able to follow.

  3. As someone who deals with variety of International tax issues on daily basis, I often refer to this book as a refresher on the basics. The book is not very deep technically, but the examples used and materials covered makes it a must-have on my desk at all times. I'm about the upgrade it to the next edition.

5 comments about Financial Self Defense.
  1. Before reading Charles Givens Financial Self-Defense, I was drifting aimlessly with my finances. I had purchased other financial books by supposed "experts" and listened to financial advice by other so called "experts" and came out on the losing end.

Charles Givens was a master at money strategies. He empowers us all to take control of our personal finances and not leave it in the hands of commissioned financial people and other financial authors who are using your ignorance for their bliss.

In Financial Self-Defense, Givens uncovers all of the tricks that various professionals do that costs us thousands and thousands of dollars over a financial lifetime.

This is one of three must read books. The other two are More Wealth Without Risk also by Givens and The Millionaire Mind. Another book to read is SuperSelf by Givens which will help you maximize effectiveness. For Wealth Builders, I also strongly recommend Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

Be careful with other books written by people who do not have your best interests at heart. Givens is on your side. You'llbe surprised to find out who isn't.

  2. I had been for many years an aggressive tax preparer and felt that I know just about everything there was to know about taxes. Givens books Financial Self Defense and More Wealth Without Risk taught me many strategies that I wasn't aware of.

Also recommend SuperSelf, a super personal development book by Givens and Money Mastery another great book on reducing taxes...legally.

  3. If you have already read More Wealth Without Risk, you probably think you have all of Mr. Givens best strategies. Not so. Financial Self Defense is even better and offers more strategies to reach your financial dreams.

In Financial Self Defense, Givens goes right after banks, brokers, auto salesmen and even the IRS, exposing the schemes and scams perpetrated by these people.

My son was going to buy a car. I loaned him Financial Self Defense and he saved over $6,000 with the advice. A $14 book saved $6,000. Now that's not bad!

Most of us are wasting an easy $1,000 per month in financial mistakes. Givens shows you how to plug up the dike and use that money to invest or improve your lifestyle.

More Wealth Without Risk is excellent and Financial Self Defense is in many ways even better. Read both and prosper.

  4. This great book by the late, great Charles Givens along with More Wealth Without Risk is all the protecion you need to save yourself from dangerous advice disseminated from brokers, insurance salesmen, car dealers, financial advisors or planners.

Financial Self Defense is actually even more hard hitting that More Wealth Without Risk. One area that I saved was in buying cars. Following the advice in this book, I bought my dream car, sold my old car myself and pocketed nearly $10,000 in savings compared to what I would have spent had I followed conventional wisdom.

Great book Mr. "G". Rest in peace and thank you.

  5. Charles Givens died before his time. I appreciated his way of explaining things. Because he spoke with authority, he actually lived what he was talking about. And I believe he was genuinely attempting to help people see the way to get out of their mundane 9-5 debt slavery and see a brighter way. I know he got into trouble in later years, but from reading all his books and getting to know him from his writings, I believe he was a decent person who cared. I think everyone needs to know what is in this book. Granted some references are dated, but that is only because he is dead and can no longer update his work. Would highly recommend this book as one of many references to the road to independent wealth, many people just dream about it, the real deal busts his backside getting the info he needs to attain his goal. Because knowledge is indeed power.

3 comments about How to Select Stocks Using Technical Analysis.
  1. I like this book a lot. It covers stock selection using a sector rotation and intermarket-analysis methodology. I think everyone who has read John Murphy's classic Intermarket Technical Analysis should go out and buy this book. Murphy gives you the theory, Pring gives you the execution -- both are needed.

  2. I could not open the material on the CD-ROM. I called Pring's support number and they were of no help.

  3. Out of all the books I've read this one is really unique. I thought it was just a simple book like all the others on technical analysis but there's quite a bit of content. I haven't been able to find anything similar on the internet or from other books. I'm glad I read it. I really understand what's going on in the not only the stock market but other market. I don't owe all my credit to this one book it's a must have for any serious investor. Prings a great teacher and his instuctional cd is great. People too often criticize great teachers because you can't get enough from them and that's not a downfall. I mean let's face it they get put down because some people can't keep up with profectionist. I have wore the pages off of my book from reading it.

3 comments about Essential Finance Series: Investing Basics.
  1. This is by far the clearest and most precise book of its type available. It's a must read for every experienced and novice investor. I give it to my potential clients at our first serious meeting. I am a financial services rep with investment experience beginning in 1972. It is a 30 minute read and covers all the basics. You would be surprised at the number of people with substancial portfolios; whom do not know the difference between a BOND and a STOCK. I'm serious!

  2. Can investing be easier than we think it is? Can we build a solid foundation on key investing concepts? Well, this is the claim in Investing Basics.

The information is organized into short, clear explanation so you can make sense of the crucial details. This is a step-by-step guide on how to create a financial plan.

You will learn what to do with your money, how to prepare yourself for wealth, differentiate between various bonds, know what various stocks are, understand risk, understand the role of "time" and find out what you can earn and what the cost is to invest.

For some people, investing is one of the most rewarding activities and for others it can be unnerving. I know many people who have lost money and many who are living off their investments and can stay home and play on the computer all day.

I enjoyed the quotes in little peach boxes, here is a good one:

"Asking what the risks are may not be as useful as asking what are the chances of success and failure." -pg. 35

Understanding how to invest your money is what this book is all about. I wish you success.

    ~The Rebecca Review

  3. I think this is a good little book if you want to read and learn about the essentials of investing. I would recommend it if you are a parent and want to teach your children how money works. It served its purpose.

  1. While this book does not necessarily reveal anything that new to an experienced sales manager or sales person, the author does state points in a manner that is quite useful. I believe the author is also patronizing to a few sales training companies. However, with all of this being stated, I believe this book would be quite helpful for most sales managers and salespeople.

  1. Escape Fire is collection of compelling speeches by one of America's leading crusaders for health care quality and patient safety - Don Berwick, MD, founder and president of the Boston-based Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI.org).

Each year, IHI hosts the National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care. The influential annual event draws 4,000 health care leaders from around the world in person and 6,000 via satellite. In many ways, Dr. Berwick's keynote lectures set the tone for quality improvement efforts across the US. With an effective blend of common sense, real-life stories, persuasive metaphors, and out-of-the-box thinking, Dr. Berwick's presentations make for fascinating reading for anyone interested in improving America's $1.7 trillion health care system.

  2. A wonderful book told with humility, intelligence, warmth, anger and knowledge.
It presents the text of Don Berwick's annual talks at IHI's (Institute for Healthcare Improvement) National Healthcare Forum.
This is a highly reccommended read if you work in healthcare. I don't know what others will think about this book.

3 comments about What You Accept is What You Teach: Setting Standards for Employee Accountability.
  1. This book is an excellent review for seasoned managers. It is helpful for new managers since it gets to the point. Very good refernce on so many pertinent management topics. I used this as a reference for a class I taught on Performance Management. The book arrived timely and in great condition. I gave it as a Christmas present to one of my new managers.

  2. Michael Henry Cohen had provided working managers with a highly necessary and an extremely practical book. The title itself should catch your interest and cause you to do some extensive self-evaluation. Why do I continue to have personnel issues at work? Because I allow them to continue. While this book is an easy read, it is not simplistic; the practical steps necessary to bring about change will take a concerted effort on the part of the reader to implement. If you are "hoping" to bring about change, continue doing what you are currently doing; if you intend to bring about change, buy the book, and change what you teach.

  3. The book arrived in good condition as described on the website within the time frame promised.
    i would recommend this seller.

5 comments about Keys to the Vault: Lessons From the Pros on Raising Money and Igniting Your Business.
  1. Keith acts as a guide on the path to financial wisdom. Its really very easy to follow.

  2. Keith writes from experience. This book is more like a reference guide than a casual read and must be in your business library. It covers basics of putting together a business plan from the critical thinking stages to writing a business plan, approaching and winning over investors and how to due diligence so you don't fall into sink holes you can't get out of.

This is valuable reading material and not run of the mill "rah rah" on thinking what to do, it's real-life lessons and a step-by-step guide from an old pro that has done it with real money and real businesses.

This book has great ideas and no wonder Tony Robbins has stepped up to the plate and written the foreword. A must read for anyone even thinking of starting a new business venture.

  3. Opening with the foreword written by Anthony Robbins, possibly the world's most renowned peak performance leader, "Keys to the Vault" kicks off with an exciting feel of opportunity, entrepreneurship, and overall success. Robbins explains how you can benefit from someone else's trial and error and create a fast path to the same type of success if only those distinctions are made available. Keith Cunningham seeks to provide that level of distinction in his valuable words that fill this book.

As Cunningham makes clear, desire and drive are not enough to springboard you into your own business. He brings the reader his insight and learnings based upon his 35 years of experience in the world of business. Spawned from that experience, he presents his 6 keys to success that will take your idea from being just a mere thought, to being a full blown successful reality.

The six keys, introduced and succinctly summarized in chapter 2, are:
    1. Think like an investor
    2. Research and prepare a great business plan
    3. Attract a team that's smarter than you are
    4. Get the correct business and capitalization structure
    5. Sell the deal to the investor
    6. Take risks and rebound from mistakes

So now you have the six keys, I've given it all away... not quite. This book gets it's magic from the pages that follow. The book contains critical information that further defines each of the keys. For example, Cunningham defines the different types of investors and helps us to better understand what exactly the professionals are looking for and how to best present your idea to them.

The second key explains the importance of a business plan, the questions to ask yourself in order to attract investors. This chapter also has the feel of moving you out of the "dream" stage and into the "reality" stage.

Attracting a Team that is Smarter than You. This section clearly illustrates the importance of a great team and why your brother-in-law or high school buddy might not be the best fit for a business partner.

The book follows with chapters delivering gems as the six keys unfold and the experience of professionals awaken in front of you. Additionally, the appendixes offer additional readings and websites to further advance your opportunities.

Consider this your business advisor, at least one of your advisors on your quest for your dream. Owning a business doesn't have to be a dream, it can be a reality. Just prepare yourself, educate yourself, and use the drive and determination you have within to make it a success. As the title suggests, the money is out there, you just need to know how to create a compelling plan and ask for it.

  4. Do you have a business idea that's so big that you'll need millions of dollars just to get started? If so, Keys to the Vault will add great value to your search for those funds while also helping you make your business more successful.

Keith J. Cunningham has clearly been there and done that when it comes to financing start-up enterprises. His advice, examples, and war stories resonate with my 35 plus years of experience in working with successful start-up companies. Most entrepreneurs would be lucky to find someone with his Mr. Cunningham's experience and smarts. Now, for just the price of this book, you can gain from his solid advice.

While the nuances of Mr. Cunningham's advice are quite complex, the key principles are quite simple. The book opens with the example of how Mr. Cunningham started a successful egg delivery business as a youngster and goes on to next spell out what he calls "The Universal Formula for Success" which I've simplified as follows:

    1. Find out what potential customers want.
    2. Assemble an organization and resources to feed that want.
    3. Operate the organization to serve the need.

From there, he identifies six keys to going from having a business idea to being in business. I've rephrased those keys into the following:

    1. Understand how potential investors will think about your idea.
    2. Develop the best business plan you can.
    3. Assemble a credible business team that will do a great job of implementing the plan.
    4. Select the right legal and financial structure.
    5. Raise money from investors.
    6. Take the right risks and adjust your actions based on learning from your mistakes.

The book is then divided into six parts which explore and explain these keys.

The back matter includes helpful material like sources for raising money, business plan resources, a sample executive summary of a business plan, a description of how a professional investor evaluates your plan, a glossary of terms, and a reference to his Web site for more resources.

I thought that the most useful part of the book came in the part concerning how to raise money. Mr. Cunningham does a good job of warning entrepreneurs not to over value their enterprise and to be realistic in negotiating: The first offer you get may be the only offer you receive.

The next most useful part is in explaining how a professional investor looks at a business plan.

The writing is easy to follow and the stories are compelling. I think you'll find yourself having a hard time putting the book down.

What are the less valuable parts of the book?

Considering that there will be tens of thousands of businesses launched without a need for major capital for every one that will need lots of money, I thought the discussion of how to bootstrap a business start-up without much capital was thin. Most strong business start-ups can raise much of the money they need through customer advances and outsourcing to capable organizations. In fact, that's the main reason to have a great business plan: You'll probably find ways to avoid needing as much capital as you might otherwise have used. Did you know that Michael Dell didn't raise any substantial external capital until just a few months before he took his company public? That's what a great business model and plan can do for you.

I also thought that the business plan discussion could have been developed in more detail. I would have liked to see this section explain more about how you gain the knowledge and perspective to create a terrific business plan. Most start-up leaders I meet have never developed a business plan before and certainly haven't seen a good one. As a result, they don't know where to begin . . . even when someone gives them a color-by-numbers outline of what should be in the plan.

If, however, you are an industry heavyweight with a solid start-up concept but don't know much about raising substantial amounts of equity, Keys to the Vault will be an excellent introduction to that subject.

If you don't need very much capital, much of this book's good advice will be wasted for you.

  5. I highly recommend this book it is a valuble tool to use as you create your business plan; especially if you are looking to fund your entity utilizing investors. It gives you detailed guidance on business structure, what needs to be included in a business plan, and what investors are looking for. -Leah E. Curry

3 comments about How the U.S. Securities Industry Works.
  1. I found 'How the US Securities Industry Works' to be an excellent review of the entire securities industry. It explained the industry with more depth and clarity than other books I have read on the same subject. I also found the author's 'Securities Operations Glossary' to be useful.

  2. I have been using this book on the job in an IT shop
for a large US brokerage house. I have found it an
excellent resource. Very clear and accurate descriptions
of every aspect of the US securities business.

  3. The book contains a nuts and bolts review of all the elements of the US securities industry. It's a good tool to learn how every part of the system operates, who the key players are (or at least were when the book was written), how the technology works, etc. It's put together in outline format, so it doesn't contain much of a logical development--it's a handbook instead.

My one frustration is the sloppy editing. The book was clearly pasted together from many sources, a lot of which were the companies, agencies, and organizations themselves. Sometimes the text is written in first person, as if copied directly from the e-mail answer from a company. Similar information is repeated from section to section because two respondents from different companies gave similar responses. Finally, there are a number of typos and even pages that are repeated.

Overall--good content, but both the editor and the proofreader must have been asleep at the wheel.
