5 comments about Investing in the Great Uranium Bull Market.
- This is a great book, I learned a great details about uranium and uranium company from this book. This is a must have book for uranium investors.
- This is a well written and thoroughly researched book useful for both the novice and experienced uranium stock investor. It includes extensive background material, guides about what to look for when choosing a uranium investment, and coverage and analysis of key junior-to-intermediate exploration and production companies. The timing of its release is superb, as the importance of nuclear energy for combating global warming takes center stage, offering clear opportunities for investment. A highly informative and useful reference guide.
- This book is the compilation and gathering of a phenomenal amount of detailed research. It makes in simple , yet smart terms the case for a rebirth of Uranium energy production around the world and how to wisely safely invest in this Nuclear BOOM. I loved it.
- Uranium seems to be at an odd point right now, experiencing a bubble within a small corner of the market, and yet still undiscovered by mainstream investors and media.
This book is a solid reference on mining techniques, reactor designs, and the basics of the uranium market. However, it blatantly crosses the line of independent research, since the contributing writers are also executives of uranium companies, or heavily uranium-invested fund managers. This is not always a critical problem - its good to have finance writers put their money where their mouth is - but it is the classic, unresolvable conflict of interest... Are they true believers, or just pumping their own financial interests?
The portion of the book devoted to analyzing uranium mining and exploration plays is broad and vague. There's much discussion of theoretically how to evaluate a uranium company, but no actual examples of such analysis. (This is the same fault of notable uranium-bull newsletters.)
And as with most writing on the subject of new energy sources (nuclear, solar, wind, etc.) there is limited discussion of the true economics. We are told that uranium comprises X% of the cost of generating nuclear power, but are given no details of these calculations. What type of reactor, what fixed cost, what life span, what uranium price, etc?
Wall Street (or the Australian equivalent thereof) is begining to put quantitative effort in to the uranium sector. This will be good in developing an understanding of uranium economics - but bad for those still looking to place their bets before the mainstream alternative energy and green investors catch on and drive values up to (and above) the proper levels.
In the meantime, this book is a decent primer, but insufficent even with respect to its stated objectives.
- I am also involved in the uranium industry and absolutely agree (without trying to be biased) that this is truly an informative read, whether you are involved in the industry or not. For readers who are curious about uranium and the nuclear process, in any stage, and for anyone who wants to learn a thing or two about the industry, where it has been and where it is going, this is truly a must-read and should be the 'centerpiece' to your uranium collection.

3 comments about How to Select Stocks Using Technical Analysis.
- I like this book a lot. It covers stock selection using a sector rotation and intermarket-analysis methodology. I think everyone who has read John Murphy's classic Intermarket Technical Analysis should go out and buy this book. Murphy gives you the theory, Pring gives you the execution -- both are needed.
- I could not open the material on the CD-ROM. I called Pring's support number and they were of no help.
- Out of all the books I've read this one is really unique. I thought it was just a simple book like all the others on technical analysis but there's quite a bit of content. I haven't been able to find anything similar on the internet or from other books. I'm glad I read it. I really understand what's going on in the not only the stock market but other market. I don't owe all my credit to this one book it's a must have for any serious investor. Prings a great teacher and his instuctional cd is great. People too often criticize great teachers because you can't get enough from them and that's not a downfall. I mean let's face it they get put down because some people can't keep up with profectionist. I have wore the pages off of my book from reading it.

4 comments about Prechter's Perspective, 2004 Edition.
- Robert, uses trends in society. He also uses the "Elliot Wave Principle." It was very interesting.
The book is set-up like a interview. It's easy to read. A introduction about Prechter and his techniques and how he times the market. I learned of Prechter from a Tony Robbins interview.
- Just like the previous reviewer pointed out, it is set up like an interview. He answers questions about psychology, fundamentals, society, predictions of the future, and of course using Elliot Wave - particularly trading strategies. I liked the fact that he covered option trading strategies. I respect Precter's viewpoints and philosophy but have never subscribed to his Elliot Wave forecasts because he keeps calling tops too early.
- In this interview-style book published in 2004, Bob presents his own perspectives on subjects as far-ranging as Elliot Wave Principle (obviously) to the way he believes that the 'normal' cause and effect relationships people take for granted in a market environment (and the world in general) are actually inverted.
As well as a detailed and personal discussion of the application of Elliott Wave in the context of the practical uses in actual trading, Bob gives some simple but excellent rules for trading in general. These include:
* Having a method
* Having discipline
* Gaining experience
* Accepting responsibility for your actions
* Accommodating losses
* Accepting huge gains
Although an interview format book is sometimes difficult for some people to extract the true `value' from, it is well worth the effort of studying this book since it can give you some useful insights into things that you may currently take for granted as `truths' that are actually detrimental to your trading performance.
The main novel theme in this book is about Bob's concept of `Socionomics', where social mood and psychology are the result of movements in the markets not the other way round. Believing that the market goes down because people are depressed, for example is a complete reversal of the `conventional wisdom' and thinking about it deeply can lead to some interesting conclusions and beliefs that have a significant practical impact on how one approaches trading.
Discussing specific approaches to trading, and how Bob thinks about them is a useful and informative look into the trading methods of an obviously accomplished and passionate market participant and also gives a context for the application of Elliott Wave Principle. All-in-all it should be considered a very worthwhile read.
- Prechters view is markets peaked in wave 5 in year 2000.
Never called the bottom in 2002, and stated the
high of year 2000 would not be surpassed.
Well 7 years later the DOW has indeed surpassed the year 2000 high!
High of 2000 was ~12000, today it is nearly ~14000 !
Listening to his advice would cost one dearly.
Not only missing out on the recent market rise, but also constantly
pushing one to take a bearish stance against the market during the
entire rise over the past 5 years!

4 comments about There Is No Box.
- This book's big idea is that leader's need to go out on a limb and challenge the status quo on the road to prosperity and growth. It's something we inwardly know, but the authors makes us a true believer using personal examples from years of first hand experience, quoting research, and telling compelling stories. They have identified the internal character attributes most needed for producing groundbreaking growth. It is a good read, I recommend it. Jeni Nichols, Queen of Connections, Sonoma Learning Systems
- This book makes you face up to the fact that most of us join a "box", and then are instructed to "look outside the box" for ideas. Coats and Heuer want us to look within ourselves to see that there is "no box".
Their study of those who have looked within, identified their passion, and then developed the attributes needed to follow it reveals the true path to remarkable human achievement. This is not a book about copying the habits of successful people - it is a guide to unleashing the potential that lies within those willing to prepare themselves well.
This is not a diet pill. This is core fitness for leaders. This is a siren call to all of those trapped in the cloying comfort zone of life: find your passion, get yourself prepared, and follow it to extraordinary achievement. I'm going, how about you?
- There Is No Box is a thought provoking read about a subject that is difficult to define. After years of leadership consulting, Tom and Steve have seen leadership take many forms. In the process they've seen the common attributes of truly great leaders. This book is a great exploration of the character and mindset of leadership filled with real world examples/lessons in how to think revolutionarily.
- I have had the honor of working with Steve Coats and Tom Heuer for over six years at Joy Outdoor Education Center, Clarksville, Ohio. Together, we have created three-day leadership-learning labs for individuals to explore, discover and create better personal leadership. The success of these leadership-learning labs is due to two key things that Coats and Heuer do very well. 1.) They are masters at asking critical, challenging, questions leading to deep personal reflection and new behaviors. 2.) They are master storytellers, which feed and nurture participants. Coats and Heuer create magic that gets participants to share his/her stories.
The outcomes of these leadership-learning labs are life changing. Many participants have spoken publicly that these leadership-learning labs are the best program, workshop or seminar they have ever attended and more importantly, participated.
If you believe that leadership is everybody's responsibility or if you want to explore this thought, There Is No BOX is the book for you.
There Is No BOX is an in-addition-to, the addendum to Coat's and Heuer's leadership-learning labs. For the first time reader who has never experienced Coats or Heuer as facilitators on leadership, he/she will get a taste of the possibility. For the reader who has been with Coats or Heuer, There Is No BOX is a reminder, a refresher and a challenge to continue the important work of leadership.
There Is No BOX has met critical requirements for this reader. It is easy to read, heartfelt and credible. The stories they share back up their facts and opinions. "Leaders are said to be life-long learners." (Page 82) Stories and connections to the hit television show CSI and former HP CEO, Carly Fiorina, follow and support this quote.
Read There Is No BOX for a personal challenge as well as to challenge your team or organization. The outcomes will not only surprise, but also lead to better bottom-lines personally and organizationally.

2 comments about Free to Choose: A Personal Statement.
- No book better expresses the connection between personal freedom and a strong economy. In this text Capitalism is seen as a positive driving force. Should be required college reading in any economics class.
- "Economic freedom is an essential requisite for political freedom". That quote from Milton and Rose Friedman is the essential reason why "Free To Choose" should be required reading for all Americans in high school! This book makes a powerful and persuasive argument in favor of a free market economy. Written in a very lucid style "Free To Choose" makes the usually dry subject of economics easily understandable and a pleasure to read. The "Power Of The Market" chapter shows how free markets work and why they are essential for human freedom. "Tyranny Of Control" chapter explains why trade restrictions and subsidies backfire. The "Freedom And Prosperity" chapter examines what the dramatic experience in Eastern Europe reveals about bureaucrats and markets. The "Created Equal" chapter shows how markets promote justice. Simply said, this book tackles economic issues that are as timely today as they were when the Friedman's wrote about them in 1979.
As a retired Army officer and student of political philosophy, I found "Free To Choose" a great book for anyone who wants to understand basic economic theory.

5 comments about Getting Started in Bonds, Second Edition.
- I quite liked the style - it is an easy book to read. It has quite a few useful tips of the trade. It is obviously an introductory level text and skates over most of the technicalities, but it's very good on the stuff that it does cover. There are one or two typographical errors (mislabelled diagrams etc.) that may cause a bit of confusion. Overall though, I thought that it was very good.
- This book is brimming with information on bonds. It is a straightforward guide for people just getting started in the bond market. The examples and definitions are extremely useful, and help to demystify the subject. And it is easy to read!
- This is an excellent book for someone with moderate knowledge of the stock market and is interested in learning about bonds. I would not recommend this for complete beginners because there are many references to economics and finance that might be difficult for a first time investor to understand. It seems best suited for intermediate investors.
Getting Started in Bonds does a great job explaining the various types of bonds available: treasury, municipal, corporate, mortgage backed securities, etc. It will make you aware of the options you have available when searching for a good deal. It also puts you in a good mode for taking all factors into account such as the possible tax advantages of a particular bond, determining how much liquidity you want with your bonds, etc.
Overall, it's a good reference to have on hand. It also helps to read more than once, as there are many things to remember. However, I am surprised at the amount of useful information crammed into this small easy-to-read book. Investors, as well as business students, will find this book Getting Started in Bonds an excellent investment.
- I have 4-5 books on bond finance -- of all introductory-level bond books this is my favorite. Most books on bonds put me to sleep -- not this one.
It covers all the major topics without patronizing the reader. My one complaint is about the physical construction of the book. It's not available in HB and the cover is quite flimsy and curls easily. In fact this seems to be characteristic of the "Getting Started" series. The publisher needs to improve the durability of the binding.
- This book contains much good information, but could have been better organized. Technical terms, for instance, are used before they are defined. While not terrible, it's certainly not great either.
