1 comments about Generations Working Together... What Everyone Needs to Know and Do.
- If I was asked to put on a short, but effective, training module to introduce the concept of generational differences in the workplace, I would rely on this book. By itself, it is a comprehensive, inexpensive handout. (A reasonably priced training kit to accompany the book is also available, but I have not seen the materials.)

4 comments about David Scott's Guide to Investing In Mutual Funds (David Scott's Guide).
- The author has written another superb book on investment. This book on mutual funds is fun to read, easy to understand and cuts through the fog of misunderstanding associated with mutual fund investing. It includes a detailed explanation of all the various mutual funds which includes equity, bond and money market funds. It also covers alternatives to mutual funds such as closed-end investment companies. The book provides a wealth of knowledge and is a welcome addition to my library on investing.
- This is a concise guide for beginning investors. It is easy to understand and reasonably complete. The material is too elementary for someone experienced in mutual fund investing but just about right for someone who is about to get their feet wet.
- This is another good investment primer in Scott's series. An easy read that is especially worthwhile for someone wondering what mutual funds are all about. After reading this book you may also wonder why you may be paying so much to buy and own shares of a mutual fund.
- I have found Scott's book to be a real help in understanding how to select mutual funds. Now I know what fees to check and the type fund that best fits my needs. I have recommended this to my friends who were in the same sorry shape I was.

1 comments about Organize Your Office for Life.
- After reading this book and putting the teaching into action, I feel such relief when I sit down at my desk. I begin with an overload of papers and I know exactly how to organize them in minutes. Just one month ago, I would look at my desk and walk out of the room because I could not cope with all the "stuff". Now I look forward to that fact that I have a system that I can use to file quickly and to find what I need even faster. Her book can be read in less than a day and her system instruction can be put in place almost simultaneously. I wish I would have read it sooner!

1 comments about Tough Questions -- Good Answers: Taking Control of Any Interview (Capital Business & Professional Development Series).
- This book is very entertaining, not another self-help book. Learning about the tricky questions reporters use has made listening to questions and how they ask them more fun than people watching. I don't do news media interviews but I find now, whether I am writing a report for my boss or doing a presentation for a group of employees, I use the techniques in this book. And, when the questions start I answer them and then bring back to the subject and points I want to make. On a more entertaining note, my roommate read it and now during the presidential debates we discuss how well each candidate answers a question and what their message is.

2 comments about Learn to Earn: A Beginner's Guide to the Basics of Investing (The Classic Guide).
- Having listened to Peter Lynch's "One Up On Wall Street" and "Beating the Street," I found this tape to offer almost nothing new except improved narration from Peter Lynch. You're better off getting one of his earlier works.
- I was impressed by the content of Learn To Earn and I would buy other CD's of a similar nature.

1 comments about Socially Responsible Investing : Making a Difference and Making Money.
- This is the best book I've read in over a year! The author is a skilled writer with a powerful, useful message. She teaches complex ideas in plain language and is easy to understand. One of the "ah-ha!" moments for me was how she helped me see that my fear of understanding finance and investments was because I didn't want to become a cause of human suffering just to make enough to retire comfortably, and that investments in stocks and bonds have traditionally caused companies to focus only on profits (at any cost). She gave me a way to invest with a conscience, and to live my values. I am very grateful, and wholeheartedly recommend this book.

3 comments about Simple Steps to Green Meetings and Events: The Professional's Guide to Saving Money and the Earth.
- This book was extremely interesting to read and far exceeded my expectations in terms of giving real-world advice that I can use immediately. As a planner I am always charged with showing a positive impact to the bottom line and this book shows me how to do the right thing for hte Earth while also saving money.
In fact, by doing just a few of the tips in the book, I'll be able to save literally thousands of dollars!
- I think that this book really puts the whole green thing in perspective. Taking some of these small steps are not as painful and I thought and this book gives me some great ideas on how to get clients on board. A must read for anyone that wants to do the right thing and make a living planning events and conferences.
- after having had the opportunity to attend one of Amy's lectures I was convinced, buying the book would be a good idea! and it was: the book provides the reader with an overview of the relevant fields of activity, fast facts and more detailed and very practical information on what to do in each of these fields. For anyone who wants to start greening events it is informative and perfectly helpful and can be a great source of inspiration!
