  1. Lee Oscars are great harmonicas. They play real clean and last a long time. I also like Honner special 20's. They sound a little different (I like the sound more), but really, any of the harmonicas that are in the $17 to $25 range are good, pro harps. Even the Big River harps sound real good, and I think they are $13. I've had some Big River's though that take a little more air then Lee Oscars, Special 20, Blues, Herring Blues, Suzuki. The cheep harmonicas are really beginner harps, and don't sound that good (no piedmont specials please). If you are a beginner, I recommend you buy a $22 Honner special 20, in the key of C (most books are in C, but some use A, so check) to start with. You will experience less frustation as bends are a lot easier, and the holes are spaced a little further apart. The Lee Oscar is about the same as a special 20 for beginners.

  1. I love my Lee Oskar 25th Anniversary harmonica. I just received it today in the mail. It's my twenty-fourth harmonica in my arsenal.

As I mentioned in one of my previous reviews, I was inspired to play the harmonica by A Chipmunk Christmas. This harp reminds me of the Golden Echo harmonica in that production.

Get yourself a virtual golden echo harmonica before these babies are gone for good.

  2. The Lee Oskar harmonicas are very nice -- plastic combs are smoother and easier on the lips, and they have a smooth, resonant tone. This is essentially a standard Lee Oskar major diatonic harmonica in C -- identical in every way to the standard one, in fact -- except that it has gold-plated cover plates. It's very pretty and eye-catching. Even the screws are gold-colored. It also comes with a nice little velvet-lined box with a magnet that holds it closed. It would make a nice gift for anyone who plays harmonica or would like to play harmonica. The only question is whether you find it worthwhile to pay the price premium for harmonica that is functionally identical to the $25 model but prettier.

I was considering putting it in a box and trying to sell on eBay in ten years, but it's just too pretty _not_ to play.

  1. A wonderful instrument, whatever the price. No problems with the strings that came with it (they just needed a little tuning), the action, the bridge, anything. I would highly recommend this mandolin for beginners.

  1. Maybe I did't read about the real size but how ever, they must call this bonbos MICRO bongos instead of mini bongos.

  2. I was able to get a quick ship & give it to my husband for a Christmas gift. He said it was the best present I had ever given him. The service was great & timey. Thanks for making it a great Christmas at my house!

  3. These are so small, they are almost like miniature models of real bongos. Actually, I thought there was a mistake when I opened the box, like I had received a set of bongos for Smurfs or something! The picture here on the website is pretty much the actual size.

  1. I purchased this set of bongos as a birthday present for my 7 year-old son. They came out of the box pretty much ready to play, just a few turns of the tuning wrench had them good to go. I was pretty impressed by the sturdy construction and the real skin heads.

My son has been happily beating on this set for a couple of weeks now, and he seems to really be enjoying them. The skins have broken in now with the frequent playing, and that has softened the tone a little. This set really packs a good sound into a small package. Highly recommended if you want a good set of starter bongos for yourself or your kids. Would also make a good travel set or something to keep in your office for those days when you just want to bang your own drum.
