  1. It is a cheap price and a fairly cheap violin. The pegs have a hard time staying in place even after trying their suggestions. The amp is so so. The bow is actually pretty good. The e string broke almost immediately even with a violin teacher tuning and trying to get it working right for her. Still working with it but overall pretty disappointing.

  2. I like to pick up a new instrument every few years and work on classical techniques until I am good enough to play the advanced college-level pieces considered standard for the instrument. I had violin lessons for a couple of years in my youth, and I bought this electric violin to refresh what I knew. It works very well for this purpose. It is much more quiet than a standard violin, and since I live in an apartment, that's a big plus.

If you or your child want to play violin, I recommend buying this item IF...

    1) You are willing to become interested enough to help them set it up and get it playable. You will want to buy 4 fine tuners which attach at the bridge. They're extremely easy to install, but I wouldn't expect younger students to do it alone. Takes less than 5 minutes.

    2) You have experience with music already and want to explore the sound production techniques with the violin (meaning, like me, you just enjoy practicing and refining your mind/body control through concentration).

    3) You are a complete novice, but still willing to throw down $89 for an instrument in order to test the waters and see if playing violin feels as magical as you imagine. The price of this instrument is equal to about 4 - 8 lessons. $90 isn't much to pay for a chance at a musical odyssey, and if you feel that isn't true, I recommend you do not purchase this item.

    4) You live in an apartment and want a practice instrument that will not annoy your neighbors.

Just about any music teacher will be very critical of the instrument if you or your child walks in with this violin intent on taking a lesson. If your goal is to play the classical literature for the instrument in an ensemble setting, or at an advanced competitive level, you should start with a standard wood instrument.

The amplification is fine for me, but I don't use it much. I wanted to train my fingers and my relative pitch on the instrument, and it works perfectly for that. It still sounds like a violin without amplification, so you don't have to have it if you want to practice.

Best of luck to you! Be patient, concentrate, and try to play pretty :)

  1. ok i bought this violin thinking it was only about 60 or 70 dollars but i ended up paying almost 100 dollars including shipping wich was more than 30 dollars and the violin didnt come tell a week later and the worst of it is it was damaged i had to take it to the violin shop and cant play it for another week do not buy this violin even though it is a buetiful violin it isnt worth it unless you are willing to pay alot of money for a crappy violin

  2. My experience with this product is great. I decided to start learning how to play violin. I decided to start with a cheap one. This one seemed like the way to go because the only negative reviews I read were contradicted by the helpful description. I paid only about 20 dollars for shipping and that was to receive it 3 days after I ordered. When I got it I just followed the instructions they sent to my email, installed the bridge, and tuned it. Then I plucked the strings to stretch them and retune a few times and before long they stopped slipping. It took a while, and reading up on rosin before I could get the bow to work but now I'm good to go, very happy with my purchase, and ready to find an instructor.

  3. I purchased this item because I am a beginner I did not want to spend a lot of money on an instrument. You pay for what you get, the white violin is pretty and delivery was fast. When I opened the box, there was a nice violin bag but the strings were not properly strung and the brige was not in place. For someone who does not know a lot about a violin this was a task. There was no instructions showing you how or where to place the brige which effects the sound quality. When I tried to adjust the strings they broke and I had to buy new ones $28. I went to a violin shop in Atlanta and shop owner tweeked the violin for free, he felt sorry for me. He shaved the bridge, he said there was too much wood and it needed to be properly fitted to the violin and it was not, he trimmed the sound piece on the inside of the violin and made some adjustments to the finger board because the end piece was too high which also effects the sound. Then during my 2nd violin lession the bow breaks at the top and apparently the wood was very brittle, so I had to buy a new bow $48. Looking at the violin again I notice there is a crack in the wood that was painted over. If you are interested in buying a violin do your homework 1st visit a Violin shop or rent one.
